Uphold Your Fasting in Ramadan
From the Realities of Mawlana (Q) as taught by Shaykh Nurjan Mirahmadi
A’uzu Billahi Minash Shaitanir Rajeem
Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem
I seek refuge in Allah (AJ) from the accursed Satan
In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful
Alhamdulillahi Rabbil ‘aalameen, was salaatu was salaamu ‘alaa Ashrafil Mursaleen, Sayyidina wa Mawlana Muhammadul Mustafa ﷺ.
Always a reminder for myself, ana abdukal ‘ajeez, wa dayeef, wa miskin, wa zhalim, wa jahl, and but for the grace of Allah (AJ) that we’re still in existence.
4:59 – “…Atiullaha wa atiur Rasula wa Ulil amre minkum…” (Surat an-Nisa)
“…Obey Allah, obey the Messenger, and those in authority among you…” (The Women, 4:59)
Plant Your Seed in Rajab, Water in Sha’ban and Harvest Your Gift in Ramadan
As you wish to see the holy month of Sha’ban beginning, the first Friday of the holy month of Sha’ban, in which Prophet ﷺ described that this is my month. Rajab the month of Allah (AJ). Everything is owned by Allah (AJ). It means there must be a secret. There must be a reality. There must be a gift for the nation of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. Rajab is the month of the mi’raj (ascension) in which Allah (AJ) brought Prophet ﷺ to his Divinely Presence with physicality and spirituality.
Qala Rasulullahi ﷺ: “Rajabu shahr ullahi, wa Sha’banu shahryi, wa ramadanu shahru Ummati.”
The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said: “Rajab is the month of Allah, Sha’ban is my month, and Ramadan is the month of my followers.”
The month of Sha’ban is a month in which Prophet ﷺ is describing is my month. It means the seed is planted in Rajab, its watering is in Sha’ban, and its gift is in Ramadan. That these three holy months are a gift for the nation of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. Allah (AJ) planting of light and realities in the holy month of Rajab. That giving for all the nation and all the lovers of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ as a gift for their souls and for their realities. Then we enter into the holy month of Sha’ban with so many realities.
Sha’ban Waters Us With Rahmah to Prepare Us for Ramadan’s Light
The birth of Imam Hussain (as), the birth of Imam Zainul Abideen (as), the birth of Sayyidina Mahdi (as) on the 15th, Laylatul Bara’at (Night of Salvation) on the 15th. There is so many realities in the month of Sha’ban that is a watering of rahmah (mercy). “Wa maa arsalnaka illa Rahmatal lil’alameen.”
21:107 – “Wa maa arsalnaka illa Rahmatal lil’alameen.” (Surat Al-Anbiya)
“And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad (pbuh)], except as a mercy to the worlds/creation.” (The Prophets, 21:107)
That the rahmah (mercy) of Prophet ﷺ is that observe that month. Have respect for that month. Increase your worshipness in that month. Do good deeds in that month for the love of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. Especially in the month of Sha’ban, to prepare us for the light and the realities that Allah (AJ) will dress us in Ramadan; realities that which you can’t achieve by your salah (daily prayer), and you can’t achieve by your zakat (charity) and Allah (AJ) only wants us: do nothing. Just fast in Ramadan, it’s the greatest gift that has no action.
Receive Your Direct Reward From Allah (AJ) Through Fasting
You don’t do anything. Allah (AJ) is not telling you to do anything from your worshipness, actually restrain yourself. ‘Restrain yourself, and I’m going to grant you a gift’ because anytime the believer fasts, the reward comes directly from Allah (AJ). No intercession of angels, no intercession of the prophets. It means a gift that’s coming directly from Divinely Presence; such a gift of such power, such immensity of light, such immensity of beliefs. It means it’s the dress of Holy Qur’an upon the soul of believers.
What Allah (AJ) asks for Ramadan? ‘Fast. Fast so that I can dress your soul, I can annihilate your nafs (ego), destroy your nafs, make you like a newborn like I just sent you into this Earth. I will crush everything and dress you from light all the way to the end of Ramadan is Laylatul Qadr (Night of Power).’
‘An ‘Abdur Rahman bin ‘Awf qala, qala Rasulullahi ﷺ, “Inna Ramadana shahrun aftarada Allahu ‘Azza wa Jalla Siyamahu. Wa inni sanantu lil Muslimina qiyamahu. Faman samahu Imanan wahtesaban, kharaja minaz zunubi kayawmi waladathu Ummuhu.” [Musnad Ahmad bin Hanbal 1621]
‘Abdur Rahman bin ‘Awf narrated that the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said, “Verily, Ramadan is a month in which Allah Almighty has made its fasting an obligation. And I established its Qiyam (nightly devotion and prayers) as my sunnah for the Muslims. So whoever fasts in it out of faith and in hope of reward, will be rid of his sins like the day he was born from his mother.” [Musnad Aḥmad Ibn Hanbal 1621]
Follow the Sunnah of Qiyamul Layl in Ramadan
In which Allah (AJ) wants us to observe that Laylatul Qadr (Night of Power) because Ramadan is fasting and Qiyamul Layl (nightly devotion). The tarawih (night prayer in Ramadan) is actually the Qiyamul Layl. ‘To spend the evenings in prayer, in worshipness, remembering Me. And in your days, a state of fasting in which I dress you and bless you,’ from what? ‘From the lights of Holy Qur’an. “Allamal Qur’an. Khalaqal Insaan.”
55:2-3 – “Allamal Qur’an (2). Khalaqal Insaan (3).” (Surat Ar Rahman)
”It is He Who has taught the Qur’an. (2) He has created Mankind. (3)” (The Beneficent, 55: 2-3)
‘So, back to your origin and to your reality in which I dress your soul from the Holy Qur’an. Then I created your insan (human being)’. So, this is a gift for the nation of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. That 1500 years or so ago, a prophet from the desert came and gave us rules of fasting, the realities of Holy Qur’an. Until to this day, millions of people are fasting for the sake of Allah (AJ), for the love of Allah (AJ), for the love of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ.
Be a Shining Star That Carries the Legacy of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ
It’s something huge in which all nations drop everything that their prophet brought, dropped every rule that their Lord had asked from them except the nation of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. As a honour and as a gift for Prophet ﷺ and as Allah (AJ) wants to honour Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, He inspires His Creation, ‘Don’t leave what my Prophet ﷺ brought for you. Don’t leave what he taught for you. Don’t leave what he asked for you.’
As a result, we are like shining stars, inshaAllah, for the nation of Prophet ﷺ. An example of Prophet ﷺ that when he looks at his nation, he is pleased. ‘Ya Rabbi, alhamdullilah, they are fasting for You. They are reading Holy Qur’an for You. They are a nation which prays more than five times a day for You’. Prophet’s ﷺ majestic lights and Allah’s (AJ) gift, say, ‘Yes it’s for Me, but also I am doing it for you to show the world. Look at your nation. Look how I honoured your nation. That I kept belief within their heart.’
Uphold the Flag and Love of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ Through Your Fasting
For every nation came and had fasting and they say, ‘Oh, you know, Shaykh, we don’t do fasting anymore. We sacrifice something so I won’t have Coca Cola for 30 days.’ They think that they gave up something. Allah (AJ) wants to show His love for Prophet ﷺ. ‘I make your nation’ because Allah (AJ) is the only one who can give faith. Nobody can give faith. Allah (AJ) put the light of faith into the heart that they will uphold their fasting. They will uphold the reading of Qur’an. They will uphold their praying to show your beatific lights.
We pray that Allah (AJ) grant us from those lights, that we uphold our faith. We uphold our praying. We uphold our fasting. That we uphold the sunnah (traditions) of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, the flag and the love of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. As ambassadors for the faith that Prophet ﷺ look at us and be happy. If Prophet ﷺ is happy, Allah (AJ) All Mighty most definitely be happy with us, inshaAllah.
“Astaghfirullahul ‘Azim, wa atubu ilayh.”
“Astaghfirullahul ‘Azim, wa atubu ilayh.”
“I ask forgiveness from Allah Almighty, and I turn to Him in repentance.”
Subhana rabbika rabbal ‘izzati ‘amma yasifoon, wa salaamun ‘alal mursaleen, walhamdulillahi rabbil ‘aalameen. Bi hurmati Muhammad al-Mustafa ﷺ wa bi siri Surat al-Fatiha.
