The Anatomy of Souls & The Pre-Eternal Pledge Q&A
From the Realities of Mawlana (Q) as taught by Shaykh Nurjan Mirahmadi

I seek refuge in Allah (AJ) from the accursed Satan
In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful
Alhamdulillahi Rabbil ‘aalameen, was salaatu was salaamu ‘alaa Ashrafil Mursaleen, Sayyidina wa Mawlana Muhammadul Mustafa ﷺ.
Always a reminder for myself, ana abdukal ‘ajeez, wa dayeef, wa miskin, wa zhalim, wa jahl, and but for the grace of Allah (AJ) that we’re still in existence.
4:59 – “…Atiullaha wa atiur Rasula wa Ulil amre minkum…” (Surat an-Nisa)
“…Obey Allah, obey the Messenger, and those in authority among you…” (The Women, 4:59)
Entering The Divine Realities Through Shamsul Arifeen (Sun of Knowers)
Alhamdulillah, inshaAllah we have the app [Muhammadan Way App] and the people can read the app, the daily awrads (daily practices) and go to the website for the articles. Bring ourselves up to speed on entering into the holy month of Muharram and the month that guides these 12 veils of light. From Hajjah Amina’s (Q) book, Sultanul Awliya’s (King of Saints) wife, blessed wife and big awliyaullah (saint). From her book on the Muhammadan Reality and Nurul Muhammadi ﷺ (light of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ) and these are the 12 veils of reality. These 12 veils are Shamsul Arifeen. This is the way of the sun of knowledge, the apex of Divinely knowledges. The first surah (chapter) on this path is Surah Tawbah in which to enter in with a true repentance. That, ‘I have entered onto this earth and I became ignorant, I forgot what I had avowed.’
You know with dementia and Alzheimer people grow old and they forget everything. But we all have dementia, we came onto this earth and look at each other and say, ‘What did we promise Allah (AJ)?’ If the shaykh begin to inspire you, you say, ‘No I didn’t promise that, I don’t remember promising anything like that.’ Because you have dementia. So people looking at other people say they have dementia. But in reality no, we’re the ones whom we forgot what Allah (AJ) had asked of us. Our life and our whole purpose of tafakkur and contemplation is to remember.
Tafakkur (Contemplation) and Tazakkur (Recall): Remember What You Promised to Your Lord
You know tafakkur is to slow down and contemplate and tazakkor – the remembrance. Not only to do zikrullah (remembrance of Allah (AJ) but Allah (AJ) wants from the servant, ‘Remember what you promised Me.’ Don’t come onto the earth and then lie and say that, ‘No, no I didn’t promise,’ you promised that. We promised everything in the way of service. We promised our time, our life, our effort, everything in Allah’s (AJ) way. Imagine what promises people make in paradise, in the purity of light, surrounded by angelic and beatific oceans. Everything Allah (AJ) asked from us we said, “Wa qalo bala,” nobody says no to Allah (AJ).
7:172 – “Wa idh akhadha rabbuka min banee adama min Zhuhorihim dhurriyyatahum wa ashhadahum ‘ala anfusihim alastu bi Rabbikum? Qalo bala shahidna. An taqolo yawmal qiyamati inna kunna ‘an hadha ghafileen.” (Surat Al-A’raf)
“And [mention] when your Lord took from the children of Adam, from their first appearance/loins – their atoms/descendants and made them testify concerning themselves, [saying to them], “Am I not your Lord?” They said, “Yes, we do testify!” [This] – lest you should say on the day of Resurrection, ‘Indeed, we were of this unaware.’” (The Heights, 7:172)
So in those beatific oceans all that we promised and then we came to earth and said, ‘I have no idea what you’re talking about.’ That’s the tariqah (spiritual path), comes and teaches people: Don’t ever say that. Your life is to find out what you promised Allah (AJ). That, ‘Shaykh, how do I find out what I promised?’ Well the shaykh knows, connect your heart. Make your tafakkur, make your muraqabah (spiritual connection) so that he can burn away the bad character, bad energies. So that your soul can tell you what you promised Allah (AJ). Then now you become a person on the path of being rijal (people of maturity).
Importance of Bay’ah (Pledge of Allegiance) in Fulfilling Our ‘Ahd (Covenant)
These are the mature servants of God in which they know in their heart what they promised their Lord. Their life is to fulfill their covenant with Allah (AJ). That’s why they understood: To fulfill my covenant at least, at least. You can never fulfill your covenant if you don’t have your bay’ah. That’s why the bay’ah is in Surah Tawbah. Read Surat At-Tawbah and you see all the Naqshbandi ayahs (verses) in Surah Tawbah. Because everything relevant to this ‘ahd, to this covenant and to this contract is at the beginning of this gate.
48:10 – “Innal ladheena yubayi’oonaka innama yubayi’on Allaha yadullahi fawqa aydeehim, faman nakatha fa innama yankuthu ‘ala nafsihi, wa man awfa bima ‘ahada ‘alayhu Allaha fasayu teehi ajran ‘azheema.” (Surat Al-Fath)
“Indeed, those who give Bayah (pledge allegiance) to you, [O Muhammad] – they are actually giving Bayah (pledge allegiance) to Allah. The hand of Allah is over their hands. So, he whoever breaks his pledge/oath, only breaks it to the detriment/Harm/loss of himself. And whoever fulfills their covenant (Bayah) that which he has promised Allah (AJ) – He will grant him a great reward.” (The Victory, 48:10)
How can somebody complete what Allah (AJ) asked of them if they don’t have their allegiance to the heavenly king Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ and their Creator? How can they be even on a path to fulfill their covenant? So, it means all of these realities of tariqah are bringing us into that ocean and into that reality. We pray that Allah (AJ) dress us and bless us from its infinite capacity and grant us the himmah and strength and zeal to accomplish what Allah (AJ) has asked of us, inshaAllah.
What do we have from our SMC families and the blessings of Muharram inshaAllah?
Question 1: Thank you for providing the analogy of this world as a dying man. How will the arrival of Imam Mahdi (as) revive this world or will it mark the beginning of a new phase of this world?
Shaykh Nurjan Mirahmadi: Yeah, he is bringing the heavenly kingdom, he is not reviving the dead. But he brings the death. That when the earth dies what comes? The heavenly kingdom comes, the soul, the movement of the soul. So means these are the warnings and signs of when death has overtaken the body.
So, when the dunya (material world) is dying, that’s a sign that now the heavenly kingdom must be appearing. So then all of this is a sign of: What is the heavenly kingdom? If dunya is dying, what is the heavenly kingdom? That’s why then Prophet ﷺ warned us, of deceit and deception. Everyone now is talking about the heavenly kingdom, that’s why we’re talking. Is the heavenly kingdom the slaughtering of people? Hmm, I don’t think there is a heavenly kingdom like that. Is the heavenly kingdom based on a man being god? Where never been in anyone’s book said such a thing. There is nowhere written that anyone said there is a man coming as god. But they say it now so that can’t be the heavenly kingdom.
Or the signs of the heavenly kingdom are, oh look two billion people fasting in Ramadan. Two billion people praying five times a day. Everything that these people do represent the heavenly kingdom and the signs of the heavenly kingdom. That they’re tormented, abused and killed upon this earth which is the satanic realm. The last hold that shaitan (satan) has upon this earth until the earth flips and mawt qablil mawt (death of desires before physical death) begins to appear. That once it dies what happens? Allah (AJ) says, from death we bring life. This is then Allah’s (AJ) miracle that everything has to die for a new life to begin.
3:27 – “… Wa tukhrijul hayya minal mayyiti, wa tukhrijul mayyita minal hayy, wa tarzuqu man tasha’u bi ghayri hisab.” (Surat Ali ‘Imran)
“…You bring the living out of the dead and You bring the dead out of the living, And You give provision to whom You will without measure [unlimited].” (Family of Imran, 3:27)
So when the seed enters into the earth what happens? It begins to disintegrate from the earth. The earth rips it apart, rips the seed apart. Then what happens with the seed? It begins to grow up and it begins to grow down. So our life is about growing which way? Both ways. Deception is that you think you’re growing only for the earth, you’re going up. Everything is about your material world that, ‘I have to take care of all my material world.’ Then you become a flower on a rock, you just grew up. But what is nature teaching us, the trees? Actually, they grow both directions. As soon as they go into the soil they have a whole root system that grows just like the branches on the trees, it begins to go down. Why? Because that represents the soul.
Insan (mankind) has to exhibit the same character as nature. You cannot do just for your body and that you have no roots into anything. Anything with just body will blow away when the wind and destruction of the earth comes. But those whom they built their root system, their tafakkur, their contemplation, their faith in the Divine, what happens? Their roots, they go deep. So why Allah (AJ) then called the character and the category of awliya the awtad? They’re like pegs, like a mountain. That their trunk, their roots go very deep because as much as you see them big on this earth, their roots are even deeper.
78:7 – “Wal jibala awtadan.” (Surat An-Naba)
“And Mountains like Pegs.” (The Tidings, 78:7)
Through their tafakkur and contemplation and their way of connection, they are connected to a Divinely rooted system of light and realities. This is just analogy for us to understand.
The evergreen tree is like a mountain that you see it always green, always transmitting. But its roots are what makes it important, not the green foliage of its leaves that people take blessings from. But the roots in which it is connected to, is entirely rooted into the network of awliya, to the Companions, Ahlul Bayt (Holy Family of Prophet ﷺ) and to the heart of Prophet ﷺ. So this is nature telling us that when you see you have to build yourself both ways, not focus just ‘I go to college I’m going to take this degree and make this kind of money. But I have to sit and meditate and build my soul and make the connection for my soul.’ So when they come and they want to chop down your branches. Because now dunya is dying, they want to chop the branches, cut these things, cut that. But when you’re rooted, they can’t destroy you. Your roots go very deep into its reality.
So this is a time in which the dunya is dying and Allah (AJ): From death will bring life, new life. (Holy Qur’an, 3:27). So we want to be with those whom represent the heavenly kingdom and eternal life. Because they have nothing to offer the other side, they have no eternal life to offer. He offered them money and every type of evilness and wickedness and in the end what value is that going to be? What good is it going to be when the corpse is rotting flesh? They have nothing from the hereafter and nothing from the realities of light for all of eternity, inshaAllah.
Question 2: It is said in the lecture that missing the daily awrad for one day is equal to 40 days of difficulty. But we sometimes miss the awrad, is there any way Sayyidi that our this sin will be forgiven?
Shaykh Nurjan Mirahmadi: Yeah, it is not something to be forgiven, it is something that you’re going to lose your connection. It is not somebody say like in a Catholic church that ‘You’re forgiven,’ there is nothing to forgive somebody. What happens is their teaching: You’re going to lose your connection.
So, every day you use your Wi-Fi for all your life, we run how many companies on a mobile phone? How many charities and entities on a mobile phone? Our whole life is now on this phone, if you lose your Wi-Fi for the day what happens? You can’t do anything. So, it means when we don’t log on and we don’t do the awrad, we are cutting the connection. The shaykhs are emphasizing that, ‘Oh if you lose that connection the shaitans can attack you.’ Because your Wi-Fi is down, your shield of protection is down, your connection to this network of Divinely lights is down. It is not for someone to forgive, it is not a sin – it is a lack of connection.
In a lack of connection what happens? You become attacked, you have every type of difficulty. You become heedless and more likely than not you make it a habit, ‘Oh okay one day down, next day I did it. Next day I didn’t have time, I don’t have time, oh okay’. Then they start to email, ‘I’m having all sorts of difficulties, all sorts of this, all sorts of that.’ So means this is a network in which our entire lives are based on it. Every faiz (downpouring emanation), every energy, every blessing, every inspiration is coming from doing that connection. By keeping that connection, dialing up to the heart of Prophet ﷺ that each shaykh was given their dial up and they give to their students, ‘Dial this up to come through this way into the heart of Prophet ﷺ.’
So, this is not about a forgiveness but to inspire people, stay connected. Because you take your hand off one time that may be the time the shaitan hits very hard. Then you get used to taking your hand off all the time, all the time. Before you know it your hand is not even connected and then you’re emailing, ‘I have all sorts of difficulties.’ So, this is just a system in which they want people to understand, stay connected. That organize your time as you organize your life and your money and your business and your job. This is the most important thing to organize. We write down from the beginning of the day what has to be recited all day long, what has to be recited inshaAllah to be finished and done inshaAllah.
Question 3: Last week you discussed how oppression whether at home, in the workplace or within a community can make one feel enslaved. How long can such oppressive conditions typically persist and what steps should one take if they are affecting mental health?
Shaykh Nurjan Mirahmadi: Yeah, I don’t know what we talked about, about oppression. But we have to go back to that talk that everybody is oppressing in dunya. Allah (AJ) listens to the prayers of the oppressed. So again, during every type of testing to be patient. Have good character and making their salawats (praises upon Prophet Muhammad ﷺ), everything that being expressed and taught with the way of energy.
The earth itself is completely a symbol of oppression. How the strong are oppressing the weak and they use their might to destroy! So this is a difficulty on this earth and Allah (AJ) is with the oppressed. Allah (AJ) answers the prayers of oppressed. So with their good character and with their salawats and their connection, they make their du’a (supplication) and ask Allah (AJ) for what they want, inshaAllah. So this is a relief that Allah (AJ) grants the prayers of the oppressed, inshaAllah.
Question 4: Sayyidi if no one can speak with Allah (AJ) except for the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ then on the day of promises, did we promise Allah (AJ) by making that promise to Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ?
Shaykh Nurjan Mirahmadi: That the adab (manners) is always that there is never a time in which you’re in the presence of Allah (AJ). So that you have to put into your heart that, that’s not you. That’s not anyone, there is no space to share with Allah (AJ), that’s why we say, “La ilaha illAllah.” That there is nothing, there is nobody in that presence of Allah (AJ).
So we are from the light of Muhammadun Rasulallah ﷺ, everything was in the presence of the king. So Allah (AJ) speaks through the heart of Prophet ﷺ. So any vow that we took was from, “Atiullah atiur Rasul wa Ulil amre minkum.”
4:59 – “…Atiullaha wa atiur Rasula wa Ulil amre minkum…” (Surat An-Nisa)
“… Obey Allah, Obey the Messenger, and those in authority among you…” (The Women, 4:59)
So that’s what that reality of “Qalo bala” means, that Allah (AJ) speaks. When Allah (AJ) speaks? To the heart of Prophet ﷺ. Every time Prophet ﷺ speaks is what? Uhyi. He does not speak from his own desire but it is a revelation.
53:3-5 – “Wa ma yantiqu ‘anil hawa. (3) In huwa illa wahyun yooha. (4) ‘Allamahu shadeedul Quwa. (5)” (Surat An-Najm)
“Nor does he (Prophet Muhammad (s) speak from [his own] desire. (3) He is not but a revelation revealed. (4) He was taught by one Mighty in Power. (5)” (The Star, 53:3-5)
So Prophet ﷺ never speaks in the world of light except that it is a revelation from Allah (AJ). He is Uhyi al-Qur’an. He was created ﷺ especially in the world of light that he does not speak except that it is a uhyi. It is an inspiration. So means in that world of light your soul in the presence of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. Who is addressing you if he speaks? Allah (AJ). So this is the way of ‘arifeen (knowers).
Again the shari’ah (Divine law) people because their lower level, they say, ‘It is Allah (AJ) speaking to you, Allah (AJ) speaks to you.’ Because they’re on the ground floor. But the one on the roof says, ‘Yes that’s correct, Allah (AJ) speaking to you. But through who? Through the heart of Prophet ﷺ, Manzil ul Qur’an (where the Holy Qur’an emanates). Because in the way of ma’rifah (Gnosticism) the soul witnesses the reality. So this is the difference. It is the same because it is correct, Allah (AJ) speaking to you. But if you ask the people of ma’rifah, ‘Please define that.’ They tell you, ‘Yes.’ Is there a place in shari’ah that you can go and be in the presence of Allah (AJ)? No, not in the ‘aqidah (belief) of Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama’ah (People of Prophetic Tradition and of the Majority). There is no mujassamiyoon (Anthropomorphists) where you can make a form for Allah (AJ).
So in the way of ma’rifah, in the world of light, if you can’t be in Allah’s (AJ) presence and you can’t share the likeness of Allah (AJ), you can’t breathe the energy from Allah (AJ). You’re not even in that likeness or understanding or shekl (form). What does that mean? ‘Izzati wa jalalihi, His Qudra (Power) and Might and Majesty speaks through the heart of Prophet ﷺ in the world of light and the tongue of Prophet ﷺ addresses you.
That’s why we write Rasulallah ﷺ because on the tongue of the laam is Allah (AJ), Rasul: رسول اللہ. The laam goes and Allah (AJ) is upon, means that Allah (AJ) speaks to the heart of that laam and that’s what makes Rasulallah ﷺ. That’s what makes that speech to come because he is created to represent and speak for Allah (AJ) in which Allah (AJ) is completely veiled from creation. That’s the ‘azimat and the immensity of Allah (AJ), inshaAllah.
Question 5: In the book Insan al Kamil it is mentioned that when souls were created and were ordered to gaze upon Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, the one who could not see anything in Prophet ﷺ, they became disbeliever and idolaters. Why couldn’t they see? Please forgive us.
Shaykh Nurjan Mirahmadi: We don’t have ‘why’ and ‘how.’ That you have to ask Allah (AJ). So there is no ‘why, there is no ‘how.’ Why Allah (AJ) did that and how Allah (AJ) going to do this. So this is not our way but the haqqaiq is wherever Allah (AJ) destined the soul to be brought from is the reality of that light. If from Insan al Kamil (The Universal Perfect Being) – which is like the entire Muhammadan light – is from the back of that light Allah (AJ) created ا type of soul. From the foot of the light Allah (AJ) created a different soul.
Best to consider not ‘why’ because why do you need to be in Allah’s (AJ) business? But to pray that you’re from the light of the heart of Prophet ﷺ. That, ‘Ya Rabbi make me, I don’t know where You created me from but I’d like to, I’d like to be from the light in which You brought the heart of Prophet ﷺ.’ So this is what’s important for us is that, ‘Ya Rabbi make my light from the light of the heart of Prophet ﷺ. So that my light can go back into its origin.’ So this is what important is ‘Where am I going?’ Not why Allah (AJ) did what He did and that’s Allah’s (AJ) business. But to be from the heart and to reach back to that origin and that reality.
But that has to tell you something too. Because somebody who is made from the foot of Prophet ﷺ he can’t understand the soul who is made from the heart of Prophet ﷺ. That’s why that’s building and that thing. The one whom is in ma’rifah and ‘Azimah (determination) those souls are created from a different reality. So they have not been swimming up to reach to this ocean – they’re created from that ocean. As a result when it manifests on the earth their proximity and the way that their soul speaks is not something understood, or its proximity. But the people of ma’rifah should understand when that soul speaks that’s from an ocean very close into the reality of the heart of Prophet ﷺ. Because it is that chasb (glue/attachment), that reality is what’s speaking to you.
It is not something you earn, it is not something you go and you traverse to get up to. You didn’t come from the back and made your way all the way into the heart. Allah (AJ) created you from the light that is within the heart of Prophet ﷺ. As a result, when it comes out and begins to address, it is addressing from the heart of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. That’s why the way of ma’rifah and the people of tafakkur they have a taqwa and consciousness. When they hear other ma’rifah, they have an understanding of where those souls are originating from. That’s why they have a school of adab and manners.
So this was a great importance for the people of tafakkur. They understand by their feeling and their light the proximity of that light. Because of its tajalli (manifestation), its haqqaiqs and its realities. That, that light must be very close to proximity of the heart of Prophet ﷺ. We described that before, that’s why those lights Allah (AJ) is a fierce defender against those lights. That what? ‘If you come against My awliya I’m going to declare war on you.’ Why? Because their lights are created from the heart of Prophet ﷺ. Who is going to defend the heart of Prophet ﷺ if not directly by Allah (AJ)? Then Allah (AJ) says, ‘I am their awliya that I defend them and guard them.’
‘An Abi Hurairah (ra) Qala, qala Rasulullahi ﷺ: InAllaha Ta’ala qala: “Man ‘ada li waliyan faqda adhantahu bil harbi,…” (Hadith Qudsi, Sahih al Bukhari, Raqam: 6502)
Narrated by Abu Hurairah (ra) that: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said that: Allah the Almighty said: “I will declare war against him who shows hostility to a Wali (saint) of Mine…” [Holy Hadith – Authentic by al Bukhari 6502]
So it means these are the lights of awliya and those lights their origin is in the heart of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ inshaAllah. It is been destined like that, predestined and written. These are not stations they achieve on earth. These are stations that are manifest on earth. Again this is the way of ma’rifah. One of the big scholars of Ahlul Sunnah wal Jama’ah was describing Imam al-Jazuli (Q) and Dalail ul Khairat (book of praising on Prophet ﷺ) and describing how we came and how we recited and all of that. But in the way of ma’rifah you don’t bring anything onto this earth from your cleverness, you didn’t make this recitation. That recitation already existed in Bahrul Qudra – in the oceans of power. It is an ancient, ancient recitation.
You were merely given the honour to bring it onto earth, it is not something you wrote. You can’t take authorship for it. This was already in the oceans of power. Allah (AJ) gave you the honour that ‘I will honour you like wahi (revelation),’ but it is not wahi. Because not Qur’an, but it is Durood Sharif (praising on Prophet Muhammad ﷺ) and salawat upon Prophet ﷺ. ‘I will grant you the honour of this coming through your tongue and your heart.’ It is an immense, immense honour but you can’t believe that this person is the author of this. But merely the one granted the gift to bring onto this earth.
Same with all the knowledges of the shaykh – he is the authors of the book but this isn’t his knowledge. These are the haqqaiqs and the reality of the heart of Prophet ﷺ. But the adab – you can’t write that because people come and try to kill you tomorrow. But the adab is that the shaykh knows that, ‘No, of course these are nothing from us. We’re just granted the honour to bring these jewels upon the earth. If anything incorrect – is from myself. If everything correct and anything beatific is from the heart of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ.’ So this is a completely different perspective of the world of ma’rifah, although still correct. So, yes of course he is the author. But if you asked him Imam al-Jazuli (Q) would say exactly what we’re saying that, ‘No, this was an ancient recitation Allah (AJ) granted me the honour,’ so alhamdulillah.
Question 6: The five categories of knowledges of shari’ah, tariqah, ma’rifah, do they have realities in the five levels of the heart?
Shaykh Nurjan Mirahmadi: Yeah, it is in the book of The Levels of The Heart. You have to get The Levels of The Heart and read the levels of the heart. Everything is related to the levels of the heart because it is the house of Allah (AJ). Anybody who has a love for Allah (AJ) should be reading about the heart. Because it has to do with the house of Allah (AJ), “Qalb al mu’min baytullah” and Allah (AJ) say, ‘I’m not in heavens and not on earth I’m in the heart of My servant.’
Qala Rasulallahi ﷺ, Qala Allah (AJ): “Qalb al mu’min baytur rabb.” [Hadith al Qudsi]
The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said, that Allah (AJ) said: “The heart of the believer is the House of the Lord.” (Holy Hadith)
‘An Wahab ibn Munabbeh, Qala Rasulallahi ﷺ, Qala Allah (AJ): “Maa wasi’anee laa samayee, wa la ardee, laakin wasi’anee qalbi ‘Abdi al Mu’min.” [Hadith al Qudsi, Al Ghazali fi al Ihyaa, wa Ibn ‘Arabi fi al Tarajim, Safha 224]
Narrated by Wahab the son of Munabbeh that the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said that Allah (AJ) said: “Neither My Heavens nor My Earth can contain Me, but the heart of my Believing Servant.” [Holy Hadith, by Imam al-Ghazali in Al Ihya, and by Ibn ‘Arabi in al Tarajib, Page 224]
So then you would read the book on the heart. Who resides within the heart? The Prophets (as). Who resides within the heart? The Holy Companions (as). Who resides within the heart? The heavenly kingdom, the angels. Who resides within the heart? The prayers. Who resides within the heart? The zikrs. So the zikrs, the prayers, the Companions (as), everything is located in the heart. So then you read about the levels of the heart to understand how am I going to open this realities, I would read from this reality. Then I’m meditating, meditating, meditating. Then the shaykhs begin to reflect the tajallis and the openings of that servant upon their heart, inshaAllah.
Question 7: You mentioned all of the paradise people are suffering and muhibbin (lovers of the way) are going through difficulties in this life. How can they get help from love of the holy Prophet ﷺ to resolve these difficulties in their life?
Shaykh Nurjan Mirahmadi: That the nazar, that you do the meditation, do the practices. As soon as difficulty comes to you and you’re somebody whom is connected and meditating then you can do nothing but have patience.
Allah (AJ) knows your condition. So you did your good deeds, you do your good deeds, you make your connection, you do everything that you’ve been trained. As soon as a test comes then you connect your heart and make your zikrs and ask Allah (AJ) that to grant an opening. Salawat al Fatih [Muhammadan Way App: Practices → Salawats → Salawat al-Fatih] – that Allah (AJ) grant, Prophet ﷺ grant an opening, and have patience. So this is the way. Everything, every step is a difficulty and then ease, difficulty then ease.
94:5-6 – “Fainna ma’al ‘usri yusran. (5) Inna ma’al ‘usri yusra. (6)” (Surat Ash-Sharh)
“For indeed, with hardship [will be] ease. (5) Indeed, with hardship [will be] ease. (6)” (The Relief, 94:5-6)
So this is our way and we become purified through difficulty and we become elevated through ease. So as soon as Allah (AJ) grants an ease, the servant is rising up. Then again crushing and then again rising. This is how Allah (AJ) brings the servant to be born in their reality.
Same way you got onto this earth, the contractions of the mother, what happens? Contraction then this stops the contraction, contraction and then stops the contraction. Then they keep checking, okay the baby is coming. So this is a system in which Allah (AJ) has. This same contraction and ease, contraction and ease brought us onto this earth. The same symbol is in our ascension into the world of light. There is going to be a contraction, a difficulty in life. Then an ease when the servant is going up. Then difficulty and then ease.
The more they meditate, the more they’re trained in the world of light then it becomes more of a constant. Their contractions are alhamdulillah, their ease is alhamdulillah and they begin to move with not so much significance in either aspect. They’re not shocked by the contraction and they’re not astonished by the ease. So they’re more like a flat line like death before death, they’re moving in a consistent pattern, inshaAllah.
Question 8: If we were in extreme darkness prior to tariqah and can the connection with the shaykh and the muraqabah lead to us falling ill and purifying through sicknesses?
Shaykh Nurjan Mirahmadi: Everything is possible, everything is possible. Anything dirty, don’t you have to wash it in your washing machine before you wear it for Jum’ah (Friday prayer)? You thought you’re going to bring your dirtiness to the heavens or to the presence of Prophet ﷺ? We said in the talk before, you can’t even come and sit in the zikr – in your house – without wudu (ablution). If you sit without wudu, you will become sick. If you sit without your head cover, you’re going to have headaches. So doesn’t matter if you’re in the physical presence and say, ‘Oh God I’m going to go and be in no wudu and sit on my couch and watch him,’ it is not going to happen. You’re going to get sick because things are going to hit you.
So this is a very real system. When you keep yourself in wudu what happens? You have a shield of protection so that the light can come to you. If you don’t have that shield of light as soon as these lights are being transmitted, every type of negativity is going to attack you. Because they want the transmission. So this is a very real system, doesn’t matter where the people are. As soon as they sit with the association, sit to listen to these associations, they keep their way. They keep their wudu, they make their tafakkur. Keep their contemplation and it is a medicine for them.
So they listen to their video, they listen to the reels and the shorts. The short is like a little syrup you take throughout the day. The video is what they sit and they make their connection and watch the video. Even if they were there live it is coming six months after. You can watch daily a video to keep the connection and to keep the energy coming. So that you are in the resonance of that knowledge and that you’re continuously in the companionship of the shaykh. Every day, every day, every day so that you can keep that energy, that faiz.
So this is a system designed more towards the world of faith than the world of form. Because you’re talking about the shaykhs of light and faith. So they don’t care where people are, they’re not based on people whom are only in their presence. Wherever the person is, as soon as they watch and begin the practices, energies are flowing, inshaAllah.
So how they govern themself is going to be very important for the level of how they’re going to be protected. When that energy comes it has to wash, it has to clean, has to begin to burn away every type of badness and dirtiness. Everything that not pleasing to Allah (AJ) has to be washed, has to be taken. So that every night and every few days a week a majlis (association) will begin and those majlis are in the presence of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. So alhamdulillah and we’ve described this many times, Thursday night the zikrs are all in the majlis of Prophet ﷺ.
But we added also Friday and Saturday because of the majlis of salawat. This is different than the Khatm e Khwajagan (Zikr of the Masters of the Naqshbandi Way). The Khatm e Khwajagan has a time with Prophet ﷺ and this is by the Khwajagan masters and you’ll be with whom you love. So when they begin their khatm in the presence of Prophet ﷺ because of the love that we all have for them, all of us are transferred into their presence.
‘An Anasin (ra): … Faqala (Rasulullahi) ﷺ: “Anta ma’a man ahbabta.”
Narrated Anas ibn Malik (ra) that …the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said: “You will be with whom you love.”
[Source: Muslim 7520]
But majlis of salawat an-Nabi ﷺ. Because Prophet ﷺ is the best of manners, as soon as the majlis of salawat an-Nabi ﷺ is what? Soon as the intention of the salawat an-Nabi ﷺ, Prophet ﷺ is spiritually present with the majlis. Why? Because you’re praising and Prophet’s ﷺ promise is, ‘If you praised upon me, I will praise back upon you.’
Qala Rasulullah ﷺ : “Man Salla `alaiya Salatan wahidatan, Sallallahu `alayhi `ashra Salawatin, wa Huttat `anhu `ashru khaTeatin, wa ruf`at lahu `ashru darajatin.”
Anas ibn Malik narrated that the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said: “Whoever sends blessings [Praises] upon me, God will shower His blessings upon him ten times, and will erase ten of his sins, and elevate [raise] his [spiritual] station ten times.” [Hadith recorded by Nasa’i]
So that’s why it was added to at least three times a week to do majlis of salawat an-Nabi ﷺ. So that for extra cleaning power. So this is an immense gift, immense lights, immense blessings. This is all because the immense adab of Prophet ﷺ, his mercy. That’s why we say Rasulul Kareem (The Most Generous Messenger), his generosity beyond imagination. All it requires is just to gather for love, doesn’t cost anything. Wherever you are on this earth turn on for the sake of that love, anytime and every time.
Even somebody corrected us on the internet said, ‘Umar al-Farooq’s (as) birthday is such and such date.’ I said, ‘Okay fantastic for you,’ I can’t make any comments on the post. But why don’t you do it every day? Why does it matter if you think it was this day and we’re posting it is this day? Don’t you think the nation should be celebrating every day his martyrdom and shahadat of Sayyidina Umar Farooq (as)? Why do people want to tell us what day it was? You do that day, we’ll do every day and see who gets a better ajer and better reward. It is not something you correct somebody on as if, ‘Okay take your flyers down, don’t say that today.’ Why he is not supposed to be remembered every day? His great contribution to this nation and that his nazar is upon the nation of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. ‘Remember me and I’ll remember you in a better association,’ Allah (AJ) says in Qur’an.
‘An Abi Hurayra (ra) qala, qala anNabi ﷺ, Yaqulo Allahu ta’ala: ana ‘inda zanni ‘abdi bi, wa ana ma’ahu iza zakarani, fa in zakarani fi nafsihi zakartuhu fi nafsi, wa in zakarani fi malayi zakartuhu fi malayi khayrin minhum. Wa in taqarraba ilayya beshebrin, taqarrabtu ilayhi zera’an. Wa in qarraba ilayya zera’an, taqarrabtu ilayhi ba’an. Wa in atani yamshi ataytuhu harwalah.” [Sahih Al Bukhari, 6970, Sahih Muslim 2675]
Narrated by Abi Hurayra (as) that Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said that “Allah the Most High said, ‘I am as my servant thinks/expects me. I am with him when he mentions/remembers me. If he mentions Me to himself, I mention him to myself. And if he mentions me in an association/congregation, I mention him in a greater/higher association than that. If he draws near to me a hand’s span/length, I draw near to him by the length of a cubit/arm’s length. If he draws near to Me by the length of a cubit, I draw near to him by the length of a fathom (6 feet). And if he comes to Me walking, I run to him.’” [Authentic by Al-Bukhari 6970, and Muslim 2675]
So anytime you remember holy people all the time, not one time. Not on this birthday or that birthday. But all throughout our lives remember these great souls. Because they’ll remember us at every moment and any moment. That that remembrance will fight for us, clean us, protect us, bless us. So alhamdulillah.
Question 9: Is it a good adab to revive and recite our bay’ah before beginning of every new month?
Shaykh Nurjan Mirahmadi: It is a good adab to recite your bay’at at every day if you like. So as much as you want you can recite your bay’at and every week every month and alhamdulillah. Reconfirming to ourselves that this is our faith, this is our way, this is our life. That to keep us connected to the heart, Divinely heart, the heart of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ and the heart of awliyaullah fi samayi wa fil ard (saints in the heavens and on earth), inshaAllah.
Subhana rabbika rabbal ‘izzati ‘amma yasifoon, wa salaamun ‘alal mursaleen, walhamdulillahi rabbil ‘aalameen. Bi hurmati Muhammad al-Mustafa ﷺ wa bi siri Surat al-Fatiha.
