In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Alhamdulillahi Rabb al-‘Alameen, as-salaatu wa salaamu ashraf al-mursaleen. Sayyidina wa Mawlana Muhammad al-Mustafa ﷺ. Bi madadakum bi nazarakum ya Sayyidi ya Rasulul Kareem ya Habib al-Azheem.
Atiullaha wa atiur Rasul wa ulil amre minkum. And a reminder for myself that ana abdukal ‘ajeez, wa dayeef, wa miskin, wa zhalim, wa jahl, and by the grace of Allah (AJ) that we are still in existence.
4:59 – “…Atiullaha wa atiur Rasula wa Ulil amre minkum…” (Surat An-Nisa)
“… Obey Allah, Obey the Messenger, and those in authority among you…” (The Women, 4:59)
Surat al-Inshirah Guides the Seeker Towards the Muhammadan Haqqaiqs
Alhamdulillah, in this path towards the reality of the qalb (heart), that Divinely Heart of Holy Qur’an, the Manzil ul Qur’an (where the Holy Qur’an emanates) that holds the heart of Holy Qur’an, Surah Yaseen ﷺ is the name of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. This path of ours is a way towards that door of realities. That Surat al-Inshirah, is a light that Allah (AJ) to deposit within the heart of the seeker, to open towards the Muhammadan haqqaiqs (realities).
Study the Lataif al Qalb – Levels of the Heart
That when we study the lataif (subtle energy points) of the qalb, that we have from the Qalb (Heart), the Sir (Secret), the Sirr e Sir (Secret of the Secret), the Khafa (Hidden), the Akhfa (Most Hidden). So, it means we have to already be familiar with the lataifs of the heart. So, it goes Qalb, Sir, Sirr e Sir, Khafa, Akhfa. So, it means these are – behind the Akhfa these are five maqams (stations) – behind the Akhfa is the ocean of fana (annihilation).
Sayyidina Musa (as) Achieved Fana: The Form Was Obliterated
And once the fana and to be obliterated. That the entire form becomes like particles, completely wiped out. So when you see the images of a black hole, on the animations, something goes near the black hole, just the gravitational power of the black hole shreds the planet into pieces, into dust, into particles – that’s fana. When the form and the identity approaches the ocean of fana, it will be obliterated and turned into dust. When Sayyidina Musa (as) asked, ‘Ya Rabbi, I want to see you.’
7:143 – “Wa lamma jaa Musa limeeqatina wa kallamahu Rabbuhu, qala rabbi arinee anzhur ilayka, …” (Surat Al-A’raf)
“And when Moses arrived at Our appointed time and his Lord spoke to him, he said, “My Lord, show me [Yourself] that I may look at You.” …” (The Heights. 7:143)
Nabi Musa (as) Reached Baqa: Returned From the Ocean of Reality
At that moment he (as) reached the station of obliteration and khashiya (dust), become like powder everywhere. Baqa is to be subsistence. So baqa is that once Allah (AJ) make you like a powder, He (AJ) brought back Nabi Musa (as) from the ocean, of that reality he (as) appeared. So the mulk of him, the form of him that came to the earth had to be obliterated, and then Allah (AJ) make him to appear from the ocean of power. At that time he testified, “Ana Awwal Muslimeen.”
7:143 – “…wa ana awwalul Mumineen.” (Surat Al-A’raf)
“…and I am the first of the believers.” (The Heights, 7:143)
Prophet Musa (as) Witnessed the Muhammadan Haqqaiq
It means whatever falsehood, to the level of the great Prophets (as), everyone has the drops of imperfections as they’re trying to reach the Muhammadan Haqqaiq. Allah (AJ) obliterated, he (as) understood that ocean of reality, and then Allah (AJ) made him to appear in the ocean of baqa, to be returned and since what he saw, “Ana Awwal muslimeen.” Because he saw the Muhammadan Haqqaiq. Because when Allah (AJ) describes, ‘We showed Our Glory, to Nabi Musa (as).’ Allah’s (AJ) glory and pride is the reality of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ.
7:143 – “Wa lamma jaa Musa limeeqatina wa kallamahu Rabbuhu, qala rabbi arinee anzhur ilayka, Qala lan taranee wa lakini onzhur ilal jabali fa inistaqarra makanahu, fasawfa taranee, falamma tajalla Rabbuhu lil jabali ja`alahu, dakkan wa kharra Musa sa`iqan, falamma afaqa qala subhanaka tubtu ilayka wa ana awwalul Mumineen.” (Surat Al-A’raf)
“And when Moses arrived at Our appointed time and his Lord spoke to him, he said, “My Lord, show me [Yourself] that I may look at You.” [Allah] said, “you will not see Me, but look at the mountain; if it should remain in its place, then you will see Me.” But when his Lord manifested His glory on the mountain, He made it as dust, and Moses fell unconscious. And when he awoke/recovered his senses, he said, “Glory be to You! to You I turn in repentance, and I am the first of the believers.” (The Heights. 7:143)
Lataif al Qalb is the Study of the Divinely Heart
So then it means this study of the lataif, where Allah (AJ), “Qalbil mu’min baitullah.”
“Qalb al mu’min baytur rabb.”
“The heart of the believer is the House of the Lord.” (Hadith Qudsi)
It’s not the study of our heart, but the Divinely Heart, the house of Allah (AJ). Those whom are interested in reading and understanding about Allah’s (AJ) house. Allah’s (AJ) reality of the heart and what it should be, not what we have made that heart to be. So it means the heart is in a state of ignorance and we ask to be guided from ignorance to the ocean of light. So awliyaullah (saints) put Surat al-Inshirah in our daily awrad (daily practices), seven times to be recited for the reality of that seven. And each verse of Surat al-Inshirah is going to be dressing that lataif.
The Verses of Surat al-Inshirah Dress Each Station of the Heart
Verse 1 – Qalb: Station of the Heart
So the Qalb, “Alam nashrah laka sadrak.”
94:1 – “Alam nashrah laka sadrak. (1) (Surat Ash-Sharh)
“Did We not expand for you, [O Muhammad], your Chest? (1)” (The Relief, 94:1)
That’s the lataif al qalb. It means that ayatul kareem (verse of Holy Qur’an), is dressing that lataif of the Qalb. And that in a state of ignorance, if Allah (AJ) doesn’t grant hidayat and guidance, what do we say on Jummah? There’s no guidance except that all guidance comes from Allah (AJ), we say every Jummah, ‘There’s no guidance except that Allah (AJ) guide.’
7:43 – “…Wa qalo Alhamdulillahi al ladhee hadana lihadha wa ma kunna linahtadiya lawla an hadana Allahu…” (Surat Al-A’raf)
“… And they will say, Praise be to Allah, who has guided us to this [joy and happiness]; and we would never have been guided if Allah had not guided us…” (The Heights, 7:43)
A Heart in Darkness Cannot Escape Without Allah’s (AJ) Guidance
It means the ignorant heart cannot get out of ignorance without the divinely guidance dressing it. Allah (AJ) has to decree that this heart will leave its state of ignorance, and it will now begin to gain a state of light. So, it means that on the lataif of the Qalb, “Alam nashrah.” It means that this light of Allah’s (AJ) hidayat and guidance will begin to move towards that heart. And the heart that is in a state of ignorance and a state of worshipping the dunya (material world), only through that light of “Alam nashrah.” That, ‘Did we not,’ where Allah (AJ) says, ‘Did We not expand your breast.’
It means that soon as Allah (AJ) give the command, this ayatul kareem begins to hit into the heart, and it hits at the lataif of the Qalb, and begins to expand the way of ignorance to be taken out, and the way of truth is now coming, because it is in a darkness. Because we said, even if you light one candle in a dark room, immediately all darkness begins to move from it; this is the power of light. It could be infinitely dark, it could be infinitely corrupt, but if Allah (AJ) says, I guide, I send the light. If the haq (truth) comes it hits the falsehood. So this is “Qul jaa alhaqq.”
17:81 – “Wa qul jaa alhaqqu wa zahaqal baatil, innal batila kana zahoqa.” (Surat Al-Isra)
“And say, Truth has come, and falsehood has perished. Indeed falsehood, [by its nature], is ever perishing/bound to perish.” (The Night Journey, 17:81)
Experiences of Light in Your Life Are Sent by Allah (AJ)
Now the Haq of Allah (AJ) has been destined for that servant. Many servants and most of the people sitting have had an experience of light. Something in their life, even if they’re born into Islam. But we are far from that reality, or whatever their faith and background, God sent a light, an experience, something that happened to them, something that they were brought down, they hit the bottom of the bottom, and there’s only the way up after that. And that becomes a light of guidance that enters into their heart.
Awliya Carry the Realities of Alam Nashrah on Earth
Then awliyaullah say from that, “Alam, Alam nashrah,” is the alif, lam, meem. That the whole of realities of the Muhammadan Heart is going to be now moving. It’s like a fountain that will be moving towards that servant; they are the servants who carry this reality of Surat al-Inshirah upon the earth. They carry that reality on the earth, they speak from the Muhammadan Haqqaiqs like a fountain flowing. As soon as that fountain overflows and begins to move, it begins to dress all of creation.
From Alif, Lam, Meem is The Unfolding of All Creation
And when Allah (AJ) putting, alif, lam, meem, in that station of the Qalb, that Allah (AJ), ‘I want the whole folding of my realities of Holy Qur’an, Allamal Qur’an. Khalaqal Insan.
55:2-3 – “Allamal Qur’an (2). Khalaqal Insaan (3).” (Surat Ar Rahman)
”It is He Who has taught the Qur’an. (2) He has created Mankind. (3)” (The Beneficent, 55: 2-3)
All of my Haqqaiqs are now going to be flowing into that servants heart, just from the ocean of guidance and hidayat. This is a huge ni’mat (blessing). That Allah (AJ) when He gives, He’s not distinguishing, I don’t want to give to this, I don’t want to give to that. But when I send a light of guidance you have the potential for infinite capacity, why is it that you don’t seek it. And awliyaullah come and say, just from the alif, lam, meem, Izzatullah (Allah’s (AJ) Might and Magnificence) is the unfolding of all creation. The alif, Izzatullah, was the secret that wanted to be known, ‘I am a secret and I want to be known.’
“Kuntu kanzan makhfiyya, fa ahbabtu an a’rafa, fa khalaqtu khalqan, fa ‘arraftahum bi fa ‘arafonee.” (Hadith Qudsi)
Allah (AJ) said, “I was a hidden Treasure then I desired to be known, so I created a creation to which I made Myself known; then they knew Me.”
We repeat for ten years maybe somebody will pick it up. Ten years later, it’s okay, because everybody has a time like a flower; they keep watering and watering, and you never know when that blossoms and says, ‘Uh huh, I understood what you meant.’ Allah (AJ) is saying, I’m a secret, I want to be known. If you come against Allah’s (AJ) secret, then how angry Allah (AJ) becomes, not if you come against Allah (AJ), because nowhere in Qur’an it says, ‘You come against Allah and he becomes mad with you.’ ‘But if you come against Muhammad Rasulallah ﷺ, I’m going to punish you because you came against my secret.’
Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ is The Reality Through Which Allah (AJ) is Known
So, Allah (AJ) was a hidden secret wanting to be known. That this alif is now going to be the unfolding of all the secret of creations and universes and from mulk (earthly realm) to malakut (heavenly realm). It flows on the lam, and the lam is Lisanul Haq, is the Tongue of Truth. That every reality is going to be coming through this tongue that is an ancient tongue for Allah (AJ), ‘I created this soul to speak for me.’ You don’t think Allah (AJ) is sitting on a chair somewhere waving to people, ‘Hi, how are you, welcome to paradise, welcome to paradise, come please, come please,’ no. It was Allah’s (AJ) greatness is not like that, Allah’s (AJ) majesty not like that. Said, ‘I created a Khalifa, I created a representative, His ﷺ holy tongue speaks for me, anciently.’
2:30 – “Wa idh qala rabbuka lil Malayikati innee ja’ilun fil ardi khaleefatan,…” (Surat Al-Baqarah)
“And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, “Indeed, I will make upon the earth a Deputy/Representative…” (The Cow, 2:30)
Nothing Exists Between the Alif of Allah (AJ) and Meem of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ
That no Prophet (as) passes that, no angel passes that. And that’s why we were talking today, Sayyidina Jibreel (as) on Isra wal Miraj (Night Journey and Ascension), no way could beyond Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, he (as) doesn’t exist beyond there. He (as) is from Nurul Muhammadi ﷺ (Light of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ); can you go above what your existence is – it’s impossible. Bayna alif and meem there is no one; between Izzatullah and the meem of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, there is nothing, He is the Ummi ﷺ. So then it means there’s nothing. All the secret and Izzah and Might of Allah (AJ), is going to be known through this lisan (tongue). ‘I’m a hidden treasure and I want to be known.’ The lam is that which will make Allah (AJ) to be known because that Izzah is always hidden; the Alif is always hidden. There is no place you come and meet Allah (AJ), but you will see the signs of Allah (AJ).
Creation was Made Beautiful For the Love of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ
You’ll understand the attributes of Allah (AJ), you’ll see the beauty of Allah’s (AJ) creation. All these naat sharif (praises) is that, ‘We made this earth beautiful for Prophet ﷺ because he would be walking on this earth.’
Terey liyea hee, Dunya bani hay
Neelay falak ki, Chadar tani hay
Tu agar na hota
Dunya thi khali
The universe is created for you, the blue sheet of the sky is spread out for you, If you were not in existence, the world would have been empty.
Allah (AJ) made all the flowers, there’s no flowers on the moon. He (AJ) beautified this planet because the holy feet of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ would be walking upon it. All the flowers are an ishq of that love; every ocean – its beatific lights and beatific colours, all was Allah’s (AJ) way of showing his love for Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. His secret, that He (AJ) wanted to be known from.
Then the meem is its unfolding, everything is in that ocean of the meem – Bahrul Muheet – the all-encompassing ocean, nothing is outside of that meem. So when this “Alam nashrah,” means this light of all haqqaiqs, because only the light of truth can begin to come. It means this Muhammadan light that Allah (AJ) sends and begins to move to the heart of the servant. That is the Haq (Truth) of Allah (AJ).
The Light of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ is the Haq of Allah (AJ) Which Dispels Darkness
What’s the Haq of Allah (AJ)? This light of Hayyul Qayyum (The Ever-Living and Self-Sustaining); this light of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ like an arrow hit into the heart of that servant, that Allah (AJ) wants to guide, it begins to open that lataif. That’s why the lataif is the station of Qalb, is the station of knowledge. That the only way to open under the control of Sayyidina Adam (as), under the control of Sayyidina Jibreel (as), all of this study of the heart and the lataifs, this is the station of knowledge. The knowledge has power and the knowledge will set you free.
If you are ignorant, you are jahil (ignorant), you are outside of everything. That’s why when we described even the triangle on the pyramids of the body. What gave you power out of darkness, because darkness is called zulum, darkness is called oppression, anything that is in darkness has been oppressed. The only najat (salvation) from darkness is haq, and the only Haq of Allah (AJ) is Nurul Muhammadi ﷺ, the most perfected haq. That all the Prophets (as), that’s what we started off with; all the prophets wanted that reality, they had a degree of truth, they wanted the complete, they wanted to witness the reality. So from the Qalb, the first ayatul kareem of Surat al-Inshirah, begin to move.
Verse 2 – Sir: Station of the Secret
From the Qalb, the next lataif is the Sir. The Sir is red and represents the struggle in life. The Qalb was Sayyidina Uthman Jami al Qur’an al Majid (as), the compiler of knowledge of Holy Qur’an, the station of knowledges. The Sir, Sayyidina Umar Farooq (as), “Qul jaa alhaqq. Qul jaa alhaqq wa zahaqal baatil.” That you have to stand for truth, and you have to fight every type of wrong and oppression. Don’t let oppression stay, then you’re not oppressed, you’re just submitting to the bad.
Oppression is when you stand for it and say, ‘It’s not going to come, It’s not going to happen, I’m not going to let shaitan (satan) overtake me.’ And just say, ‘Oh yeah, shaitan is making me to be angry all the time.’ No, no. The station of, ‘You have to stand for the truth of what’s right within yourself,’ not to let the bad come. And then what else Allah (AJ) says in the ayatul kareem, the second ayat (verse), “Wa wada’na ‘anka wizrak.”
94:2 – “Wa wada’na ‘anka wizrak. (2)” (Surat Ash-Sharh)
“And We removed from you your burden. (2)” (The Relief, 94:2)
“Wa wada’na,” is that ease of burden and the support of the truth is now entering into you. Because when you are in darkness and zulumat, there is no way to pull yourself out of it, so of course you are going to be burdened and in difficulty. So the light now is moving, this light of truth is now coming. The second ayatul kareem, begins to hit your Sir, so that what, to empower your fight against evil. That this difficulty that overtakes and keep putting you into difficulty, keep putting you into vices and in harm, keep making your heart to be dark and not the heart that Allah (AJ) wanted; that second ayat begins to dress that Sir and lift the servant out.
The Heart of Prophet ﷺ is Purified With Divinely Lights
There has to be a madad (support) and support that’s coming to the servant. So it means that this Surat al-Inshirah is loaded with realities that begin to expand. Surat al-Inshirah’s history was that Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, when he was young, his heart was opened when he was with Sayyidatina Halima (as) out as a child. He said that that he (as) came one day, Sayyidina Jibreel (as) came, he laid Prophet ﷺ down, opened the heart of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, showing what, that there is going to be a day of open heart surgery. Took the Holy Heart of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, and washed it from divinely lights, took out anything that shaitan could use to attack his heart with, and pure and purified, golden, and put the heart back.
Awliya’s Hearts Beat With the Love of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ
Surat al-Inshirah was about the opening, and the relief of difficulties and burdens of the Muhammadan Heart to Allah (AJ). But the inherited reality of Surat al-Inshirah for us, is that Allah (AJ), I’m going to now send guidance to you. Awliyaullah, they have experienced in their life, that they saw their heart be opened, the regular heart taken, a golden heart put in and upon that heart is written RasulAllah ﷺ. And they beat and they live based on that reality, and that gives their heart their being, their soul, their immense love for Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ.
Allah (AJ) puts them through an inshirah, Surat al-Inshirah. Allah (AJ) puts them through and opens their chest, take out their heart, take out all its badness and its incorrectness, and make it to be golden, and written RasulAllah ﷺ upon their chest. It’s not something that you can go with a corrupt and broken car and reach to the heavens, no. Allah’s (AJ) going to modify the whole system; it’s going to have a complete overhaul.
Seek a Path Towards Heavenly Realities Through Guidance
Only people know that by now. Imagine if you had a phone from twenty years ago. Have you ever seen the phone from twenty years ago – used to be like this big and had a box with it that you had to crank the box, and it didn’t call anyone because no one else had that same phone. So what Allah (AJ) gave you now, said I’ll give you the top of the line technology, but almost daily updates are coming, weekly updates are coming. So it means that, that insan (human being) who’s a normal person, is not going to reach towards that realities. He has to seek a path of du’a that, ‘Ya Rabbi, change me, change me, grant me guidance, open my heart.’
You Need A Guide – Don’t Let Shaitan’s Belief Influence You
That’s why then when they come towards guidance and awliyaullah, they give them wazifas (spiritual practice) to read. Read this daily, not for your head. We said this path is not for the arrogant. They say, ‘No, no, no Shaykh, thank you very much, I don’t need anyone, just between me and Allah (AJ),’ that’s the aqidah (belief) of shaitan. Shaitan said, ‘I don’t need this Adam (as) and Bani Adam (as), I deal directly with Allah (AJ).’ Good luck for you, let’s see how that plays out. Those whom consider themselves daeef, that ‘Ya Rabbi I can’t fix myself from anything, I can’t stop myself from talking, I can’t stop myself from doing bad things. How could I possibly think I can reach to you without a support, without a help?’ As soon as they come to the guides, the guide give them, do this awrad (daily practice).
Listen to the Guides and Become Recipients of Their Lights
As soon as they are doing that, and reciting that, these lights are now moving because they are the recipients of that light. They are not telling you to do it just because you do it for your entertainment. But as you are doing it, a light from their hearts will begin to reach out to the students. And they are the recipients of that secret when they’ve been given permission to speak, it begins to have a light that flows out of its realities. It means this is a book (refers to Levels of the Heart Book) on the house of Allah (AJ), it’s not a book about your heart. This is a book about Allah’s (AJ) house, all His Prophets (as), all His Angels, all His energies, all His lataifs, all His realities, to the extent that Allah (AJ) allowed that knowledge to come. So, we want to know about Allah’s (AJ) house and those realities, they (awliya) begin to teach.
Verse 3 – Sirr e Sir: Station of Secret of the Secret
From the Sir, to the Sirr e Sir. The Sir, you battle, you battle, you struggle, then Sayyidina Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (as) comes and tells you, “Mawt qablil mawt” (death of desires before physical death). Don’t be like a fish, you’re just struggling, die. Don’t hold onto your life and your possessions, we want you to die. Stop your struggle, stop you know, ‘I have to have it all, I have to conquer it all, I have to..’ No it’s not going to happen. Just accept, ‘Ya Rabbi, I didn’t come for this world, You made it comfortable, no problem. I didn’t come for here, I want to reach there. I want to reach my eternity, I want to reach all my realities. And Sayyidina Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (as) comes and Mawt qablil mawt; surrender and let this difficulty, these burdens, this zulumat,’ means then you truly don’t want the evil, you want the light. So alam al-mithal begins to open Sirr e Sir, it’s the world of light is beginning to open, why? Because you’re dying.
Increase Your Understanding of Spiritual Teachings
If you are not feeling death, you don’t understand what the Shaykh is talking about. You tune in for two seconds and what’s this guy talking about, why don’t you just talk about wudu (ablution), and then change the channel. You have to be half-way dead to understand or to be interested in us, right? You have to have the flavour of it. ‘Oh shaykh, I’ve been through so much horrific things, I’m ready for heaven, I’m ready, I’m at heavens gates.’ It means you have one foot there, and your one foot is here, it makes sense to you.
If You Hold onto Both the World and Heavens You’ll Fall in the Middle
So then they tell you now, take the other foot too; don’t hold on both sides because usually you fall onto the gate like that. You fall like that you’ll get hurt. So some people are on this side, and Allah (AJ) wants you, come to that side, so you begin to step into heaven. If you step, you understand what the Shaykh is talking about. If you are on the other side, you say, I don’t know what this is, you change the channel, because now you’re closer to the state of death. So Sirr e Sir, what Allah (AJ) gives from ayatul kareem, from Surat al-Inshirah,“Alladhee anqada zhahrak.”
94:3 – “Alladhee anqada zhahrak. (3)” (Surat Ash-Sharh)
“Which had weighed upon your back. (3)” (The Relief, 94:1-8)
What weighed you down, what we described the whole just now, that which weighs you down and pulling you onto the earth, Allah’s (AJ) going to send a relief and a state of death begins to enter upon the servant. That which is weighing you down that, ‘I have to conquer, I have to conquer, I have to conquer.’ Allah (AJ), this light of guidance begins to come and then they start to text, ‘Shaykh I don’t know how to go to work anymore, I just don’t feel it. Before I thought I was going and I was going to conquer the whole office, and take the manager’s job. Now I think, oh my God, I don’t want the manager’s job, I just want to take my pay cheque and run.’ Flavour gone. It’s starting to – the servant is entering into a state of death.
You Will Receive According To Your Intention – Seek The Eternal
This burden of hub e dunya (love of the material world) this burden of conquering this earth is leaving, and Sayyidina Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (as) is dressing the servant with mawt qablil mawt. That, ‘Come to the world of light, if you begin to open and open your heart and your eyes in the world of light.’ The maziye, the taste of this whole dunya (material world) is gone. But if all you see are the cars and the buildings and that’s all you want, that’s all you’re going to try to achieve.
When they begin to teach and say, meditate and contemplate, a few khashf (spiritual state/vision) begin to open into the heart of the believer, because Allah (AJ) wants to say, ‘Look at all My paradises; are you kidding Me, you want the fake lights? I’m about to give you the real lights.’ And people have immense experiences of lights and angels and fountains. That angels come to them daily, giving them something to drink, something to dress them by. Allah’s (AJ) kingdom is infinite, and nobody can say no, it’s not possible. Whom Allah (AJ) gives the kingdom to, nobody can say no, because nobody can limit Allah (AJ).
The Naqshbandiya are Inheritors of Sayyidina Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (as)
So then now, you’re dying. The burden is being lifted, Sayyidina Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (as) is dressing, giving his inheritance. What was the inheritance of Sayyidina Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (as)? That, I left for my people, La ilaha illallah Muhammadun Rasulallah ﷺ.
“La ilaha illallahu Muhammadun Rasulallah ﷺ.”
“There is no deity but Allah, Prophet Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.”
All of his children are the Naqshbandiyatil Aliya. Why, he (as) came to Prophet ﷺ with perfect faith, ‘Ya Rasulallah ﷺ, I left nothing for my family, I gave them only La ilaha illAllah Muhammadun Rasulallah ﷺ, everything else is in Allah’s (AJ) way.’ So we inherit from the Siddiqiya (Truthful) reality of Sayyidina Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (as). That, ‘Ya Rabbi, everything in your way. Our life, our time, everything in that way, to magnify the beatific station of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ.’ That makes Allah (AJ) most pleased. What you’re going to raise the status of Allah (AJ) and magnificent station of Allah (AJ), He (AJ) says no, focus on Prophet ﷺ. Live a life in which you propagate that reality and that love.
Verse 4 – Khafa: The Station of Hidden
Now when you’re dying from Sirr e Sir, the Khafa is a station of resurrection. Because once you’re dead and Sayyidina Izrail (as) comes and teaches you die. And Allah (AJ) in Surat al-Inshirah describes, that I went through the Baab-e-Siddiq, and I left through the Maka’as Siddiq. Because the two angels are going to teach you, your death is a noble death, your resurrection, a noble resurrection.
17:80 – “Wa qul Rabbi adkhelni mudkhala Sidqin wa akhrejni mukhraja Sidqin waj’al li min ladunka Sultanan NaSeera.” (Surat Al-Isra)
“Say: O my Lord! Let my entry be by the Gate of Truth and Honour, and likewise my exit by the Gate of Truth and Honour; and grant me from Your Presence a Victorious King to aid (me).” (The Night Journey, 17:80)
Surrender Willingly To Be Raised With Nobility
That in this life you’re willing to surrender yourself with a noble status. And Sayyidina Israfil (as) comes and teaches you how to die with a noble status, that we’re going to raise you now into their presence. You’re not going into a chal, you surrendered willingly to put yourself down, nobly, and we’ll lift you with a nobility into that presence. So then what’s this ayatul kareem, the most powerful reality of Surat al-Inshirah, “Wa rafa’na laka dhikrak.”
94:4 – “Wa rafa’na laka dhikrak. (4) (Surat Ash-Sharh)
And raised high for you your repute. (4) (The Relief, 94:4)
So Khafa, “Wa rafa’na laka dhikrak.” “Wa rafa’na laka dhikrak,” why? Because as soon as the servant is in a state of dying and dying, and dying, there is an event of faith begin to happen in their heart and in their soul. At that moment when that light and that world of light is opening, “Wa rafa’na laka dhikrak,” they begin to hear the praisings of malaika (angels) and all of it is salawat an-Nabi ﷺ (praising upon Prophet ﷺ). “Wa rafa’na laka dhikrak,” they entered into the zikr (remembrance) of Allah (AJ), not the zikr “Allah”, zikr of Allah (AJ). Immense power – there is nothing more powerful than the zikr and tasbih which Allah (AJ) is doing.
Salawat on Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ Opens the Reality of Praising
Not the mentioning of Allah’s (AJ) name, the zikr which Allah (AJ) is doing, “Wa rafa’na laka dhikrak,” their soul is now moving into the oceans of malakut, and everything is “Allah Humma,” and praising upon Allah (AJ) and Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. And that’s what Allah (AJ) meant, ‘Did we not raise your status and your reality is known through all of malakut.’ When the Prophets (as) talked about the reality of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, they mention it by Nabi Ahmad ﷺ, not Muhammad and Mahmood, but Nabi Ahmad ﷺ. That your name is hamd (praise), and Allah (AJ) attached upon your holy name, His Alif, and gave you his Izzatullah (Allah’s (AJ) Might and Magnificence).
That your mulk (earthly realm) and your power is Ilahi, and if someone to look at it, they would think that this is Allah’s (AJ) power. Beyond imagination. That’s why Allah (AJ) at that maqam (station) begin to explain that this name Muhammad, is hamd. Hamd is praise, the reality of praise begin to open for the servant. They didn’t know what they were praising, that’s why Nabi Musa (as) said, ‘Ya Rabbi, I want to see you, I don’t know who I am praising, I want to see, Wa rafa’na laka dhikrak. I would be raised in that ocean in which I realized all this praise, all this hamd from MuHamd, Ahamd, is all a praise upon Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ.’ Then Surah Yaseen ﷺ comes and describes of zikr, “Innahu zikrun, innahu zikrun wa Qur’anun Mubeen.”
36:69 – “..In huwa illa dhikrun wa Quranun Mubeen.” (Surat YaSeen)
“..He (Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)) is not but Zikr (Remembrance/Praise) and the Qur’an making things clear.” (YaSeen, 36:69)
Surah Inshirah Takes You To The Reality of Holy Qur’an
He ﷺ is the zikr of Allah (AJ), and He ﷺ is “Qur’an e Mubeen,” the walking manifestation of the Qur’an. Nobody saw the Qur’an; there is no Qur’an that manifested until Prophet ﷺ spoke it. Allah (AJ) describes the reality, “Wa rafa’na laka dhikrak,” because now Surah YaSeen ﷺ is inside, Surat al-Inshirah is taking you to that reality. That they have to send a light, these awliyaullah are sending lights into the heart like plumbing, like a jackhammer, depending upon how bad the heart is. Hitting with a jackhammer and taking away the calcification.
As soon as they begin to die and they khashf, they enter into the world of khashf (spiritual state/vision), where they are continuously seeing, seeing, seeing; what are they seeing? Because you have to hear first before you can see. When we say seeing, what it means is you have to hear first, you hear the beatific praisings, you hear the salawats, you feel the power of the salawats, they bring you to tears; this is from the secret “Wa rafa’na laka zikrak.” That you feel the magnificent status in which Allah (AJ) put upon that reality, and that everything is in the ocean of “InnAllaha wa malayikatahu yusalluna ‘alan Nabiy ﷺ,” and that’s it.
33:56 – “InnAllaha wa malayikatahu yusalluna ‘alan Nabiyi…” (Surat Al-Ahzab)
“Allah and His angels send blessings upon the Prophet [Muhammad (ﷺ)].” (The Combined Forces, 33:56)
That’s all the power that’s dressing upon their souls; they’re entering into that oceans of power and praise, then the lataif al-Akhfa.
Verses 5 & 6 – Akhfa: The Station of Most Hidden
The Akhfa is the ocean of where it looks like a black hole. So the Akhfa is that you’re entering in and this is the reality of how you are becoming a star. Allah (AJ) is sending you a light, to light up your Qalb, to light up your Sir, to light up your Sirr e Sir, light up your Khafa, and then taking your wujud, your being into the Akhfa, into the black hole. Because from the black hole what came out are suns. So if you see this image (Levels of the Heart: Lataif al Qalb book cover). Once you enter into the black hole and become annihilated, you will begin to appear like a sun on earth, more powerful than the sun in heavens. And that’s what Prophet ﷺ from here described that, ‘All my companions are like stars, because I’m a star maker, I make them into stars.’
“Ashabi kan Nujoom, bi ayyihim aqta daytum ahta daytum.”
“My companions are like stars. Follow any one of them and you will be guided.” Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)
Allah (AJ) Sends Difficulties to Save the Servant From Material Desires
So, what happens at the Akhfa and the station of annihilation,“Fainna ma’al ‘usri yusran. Inna ma’al ‘usri yusra.”
94:5-6 – “Fainna ma’al ‘usri yusran. (5) Inna ma’al ‘usri yusra. (6)” (Surat Ash-Sharh)
“For indeed, with hardship [will be] ease. (5) Indeed, with hardship [will be] ease. (6)” (The Relief, 94:5-6)
Two ayatul kareem because your struggles are going to be a lifetime. Verily after difficulty comes ease, not after ease comes difficulty. It means the station of annihilation for the shaykhs, for awliya (saints), for all those who are following is a continuous life of struggle. Struggle, struggle, struggle, because as much as they die, and as much as they are entering into these oceans of light, as much as dunya is always trying to come back and bring them down.
And Allah’s (AJ) rahmah (mercy), is that He (AJ) sends a difficulty upon them, to crush that dunya, crush everything, so they’re in a continuous state of difficulty, and then ease, difficulty and ease, and the dunya is like that; the womb of a woman is like that, that there is constriction and expansion. That there is a crushing, and a releasing, a crushing, and a releasing. Every crush is a maqam to achieve and the release is that they experience a new maqam. Because every time you crush and push the baby is coming out, a reality is coming out, what do they call, contractions.
They say the earth is also contracting daily. All the earthquakes and movements of the earth, is also contracting. So there is no growth without these contractions. That every difficulty comes, you’ll be squeezed because Allah (AJ) want to give you now a new maqam, then an ease comes. You feel, ‘This is nice, oh how nice this was,’ then again crushing, then a new maqam. So their lives are under continuous testing. Nabi Musa (as) he said, ‘I want to see Allah (AJ).’ As soon as He saw that reality, ‘Ya Rabbi, I want where the two rivers meet.’
18:60 – “Wa idh qala Mosa lefatahu laa abrahu hatta ablugha majma’a albahrayni aw amdiya huquba.” (Surat Al-Kahf)
“Behold, Moses said to his attendant, I will not give up until I reach the junction of the two seas or (until) I spend years and years in travel.” (The Cave, 18:60)
Sayyidina Musa (as) Endured Difficulty to Reach the Maqam
He (AJ) says, ‘Now you are entering into Inna ma’al ‘usri yusran. Inna ma’al ‘usri Yusra. I’m going to send you to Sayyidina Khidr (as) and he is going to insult you very bad. He (as) is going to give you a test that you couldn’t not imagine, he’s going to put you through difficulty.’ It means the one who speaks to Allah (AJ) met Sayyidina Khidr (as), and Sayyidina Khidr (as) said, ‘You have to go away, how are you going to have patience with me, with knowledge is not complete to you.’
18:67-68 – “Qala innaka lan tastatee’a ma’iya sabra. (67) Wa kayfa tasbiru ‘ala ma lam tuhit bihi khubra. (68)” (Surat Al-Kahf)
“(The Other) said, Verily you will not be able to have patience with me! (67) And how can you have patience for what you do not encompass in knowledge? (68)” (The Cave, 18:67-68)
One after the other, insulting Sayyidina Musa (as), why? Because he said, ‘I want to be with Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, I want that maqam.’ ‘You want that maqam, then I’m going to have to put you through the same system.’ And every prophet entered into that system. Every prophet went through the difficulty to reach towards that reality, that Allah (AJ) want to dress upon them.
The Station of Annhilation Takes You Into an Ocean of Oneness
“Wa rafa’na laka dhikrak,” they entered in. “Inna ma’al ‘usri yusra,” they went through annihilation and difficulty. Fana, we said before fana is when you are being obliterated now. The fana is that all your pieces are vanishing and you entered into an ocean. You’re no longer the drop, but now you are in an ocean. Maqam al-fana (Station of Annhilation), when the awliyaullah would speak, they would say “Ana ul Haqq,” and the people would kill them. He didn’t speak from his mulk (earthly) reality, he spoke from the Ocean of Fana. Because he didn’t see himself anymore, he lost, and Prophet ﷺ obliterated his being to be in an ocean of oneness and in that ocean of realities, not oneness with Allah (AJ).
Verse 7 – Fana – The Soul is Free and Moves Into the Ocean of Annihilation
But in this ocean of Annihilation that Allah (AJ) wanted to dress, so what Allah (AJ) describe the surah, the seventh verse of Surat al-Inshirah, “Fa iza faraghta fainsab.”
94:7– “Fa idha faraghta fainsab. (7)” (Surat Ash-Sharh)
“So when you have finished [your duties], then stand up [for worship]. (7)” (The Relief, 94:7)
The fana for “Fainsab” is that we freed your body from the grip and the struggle, and that your soul will be victorious. They say, ‘Like stand up for prayer.’ That’s not the understanding of that ayatul kareem. But Allah (AJ) is describing in this ayatul kareem that we have put down your body, we have crushed your body reality, and now your soul is now moving into its haqqaiq. Next and last verse is what, because the soul is now moving in that ocean from fana. Fana is then annihilate.
Verse 8 – Baqa – The Soul Appears in the Presence of Their Rab
Baqa is that now Allah (AJ) makes the soul to appear in that ocean with all of its majestic might and power. And what Allah (AJ) describes, “Wa ila rabbika farghab.”
94:8 – “Wa ila rabbika farghab. (8)” (Surat Ash-Sharh)
“ And to your Lord direct [your] longing. (8)” (The Relief, 94:8)
“Rabbika farghab,” means that their soul is in the presence of their Rab. Their soul is in the presence of their Rab, this whole Inshirah, from Wajhi hil Karim (The Holy Face of the Most Generous). These awliyaullah who understood and was dressed from that reality, they are the souls that are in the Holy Face of Allah (AJ). That their whole wujud (existence) was smashed, brought down, nothing. “Wa ila rabbika,” means that at that moment make your case to Allah (AJ). And their understanding of Rab is going to be in different maqams and understandings.
The Du’a of Awliya are to the Divinely Face – Wajhi hil Karim
Allah (AJ) will open for them a divinely face, in which their soul to face that and make your case to that soul, to that face, make your du’a (supplication) to that face. We say, Haqqiqatil Tawassul (Reality of Intercession), wa Haqqiqatul Tawajjuh (Reality of Focusing). Tawassul is that, and Tawajjuh that their reality reached to a face. They have to reach to a face, that face dresses them, blesses them, gives them light and guidance, and their tawassul, is they merely make the du’a (supplication) to the face and everything is conveyed of what people want. They’re not asking for them self, they make the connection to the face, and that face hears, sees, breathes, and speaks of that reality, and that’s the responsibility goes towards the heavens.
Subhana rabbika rabbal ‘izzati ‘amma yasifoon, wa salaamun ‘alal mursaleen, walhamdulillahi rabbil ‘aalameen. Bi hurmati Muhammad al-Mustafa wa bi siri Surat al-Fatiha.
