Our Hearts are Like Masjid al-Haram Where Evilness Should Not Enter
From the Realities of Mawlana (Q) as taught by Shaykh Nurjan Mirahmadi

I seek refuge in Allah (AJ) from the accursed Satan
In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful
Alhamdulillahi Rabbil ‘aalameen, was salaatu was salaamu ‘alaa Ashrafil Mursaleen, Sayyidina wa Mawlana Muhammadul Mustafa ﷺ.
Always a reminder for myself, ana abdukal ‘ajeez, wa dayeef, wa miskin, wa zhalim, wa jahl, and but for the grace of Allah (AJ) that we’re still in existence.
4:59 – “…Atiullaha wa atiur Rasula wa Ulil amre minkum…” (Surat an-Nisa)
“…Obey Allah, obey the Messenger, and those in authority among you…” (The Women, 4:59)
Surat Al-Isra: Surah 17, Verse 1
InshaAllah we’ll start with Surat Al-Isra, Surah 17, verse 1, inshaAllah. Hajji Junaid read the English after he reads the Arabic, inshaAllah.
Reciter: “A’uzu Billahi Minash shaitanir Rajeem Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem. Subhaanal lazeee asraa bi’abdihee lailam minal Masjidil Haraami ilal Masjidil Aqsal-lazee baaraknaa haw lahoo linuriyahoo min aayaatinaa;innahoo Huwas Samee’ul-Baseer.” SadaqAllahul ‘Aliyyil ‘Azim.
17:1 – “Subhaanal lazeee asraa bi’abdihee lailam minal Masjidil Haraami ilal Masjidil Aqsal-lazee baaraknaa haw lahoo linuriyahoo min aayaatinaa;innahoo Huwas Samee’ul-Baseer.” (Surat Al-Isra)
“Exalted is He who took His Servant by night from al-Masjid al-Haram to al-Masjid al- Aqsa, whose surroundings We have blessed, to show him of Our signs. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Seeing.” (The Night Journey, 17:1)
Wa Barakah Rasulul Kareem (the Most Generous Messenger), Habibul ‘Azim (The Magnificent Beloved). InshaAllah we’ll go slowly with the English, inshaAllah. Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem.
Reciter: “I seek refuge in God from satan the accursed one. Allah (AJ), beginning with the name of The Most Gracious, The Most Merciful. Purity is to Him Who took His bondman in a part of the night from the Sacred Mosque to the Aqsa Mosque around which We have placed blessings, in order that We may show him Our great signs; indeed he is the listener, the beholder.” [The verse refers to the physical journey of Prophet Muhammad – peace and blessings be upon him – to Al Aqsa Mosque and from there to the heavens and beyond. The entire journey back to Makkah was completed within a small part of the night.]
Allah’s (AJ) Divine Invitation to His Beloved ﷺ
That alhamdulillah from the physicality that we’ve been talking about of Prophet’s ﷺ invitation from Allah (AJ). Where Allah (AJ) clearly in Surat Al-Isra is describing a journey that Prophet ﷺ took from Makkah to Masjid al-Aqsa in Jerusalem and up into the heavens. This Isra we talked the night before, Isra wal Mi’raj (Night Journey and Ascension) Allah’s (AJ) most gracious invitation to His beloved servant to dress and to bless him ﷺ.
Layl (Night) Represents the Annihilation of the Ego
In our everyday life, we have Masjid al-Haram and Masjid al-Aqsa, and that Allah (AJ) giving for all of us that our life is to struggle for that journey. That “fi layl” and any time there’s a reference to layl means the time in which to annihilate oneself. The night is for contemplation and day is for business. That these events Allah (AJ) open for the servant that to have Masjid al-Haram within ourselves. We described in other talks that the masjid is the heart of the servant, the Ka’bah is the heart of the servant.
The Heart as Masjid al-Haram & Baytullah (House of Allah (AJ))
Masjid al-Haram refers to the house of Allah (AJ) in which haram is forbidden within the house. “Qalb al mu’min baytullah.”
Qala Rasulallahi ﷺ, Qala Allah (AJ): “ “Qalb al mu’min baytur rabb.” [Hadith al Qudsi]
The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said, that Allah (AJ) said:“The heart of the believer is the House of the Lord.” (Holy Hadith)
So the true House of Allah (AJ) is not the one from stones but the one in which Allah (AJ) created. He created Adam and Eve, He created our creation and He blew within it a spirit.
15:29 – “Fa idha sawwaytuhu wa nafakhtu feehi min Rohee faqa’o lahu sajideen.” (Surat Al-Hijr)
“So when I have proportioned him and breathed into him of My [created] soul/spirit, then fall down to him in prostration.” (The Rocky Tract, 15:29)
It is much higher than the house of stones that people built. The heart of the servant is to achieve a state in which to leave haram (forbidden) outside of the heart. Now the haram that happens within the mind and the hands and the feet is different than the haram that enters within the heart of the servant.
The haram that enters, when we say haramain because there’s all sorts of haram around the city. But in the actual place of the heart then awliyaullah (saints) come into our life and teach us that this ayatul kareem (the generous verse of Holy Qur’an) and this event for us to have an opening, Allah (AJ), Prophet ﷺ inspiring within the heart of awliya (saints) and awliyaullah teaching us that: your heart must be like the Ka’bah in which to forbid haram into the heart. Not to take the liking of haram and not to allow the evilness within the heart. Because the evil and truth they don’t mix and truth by its nature will overwhelm and destroy evilness because evilness has no strength on which to stand.
17:81 – “Wa qul jaa alhaqqu wa zahaqal baatil, innal batila kana zahoqa.” (Surat Al-Isra)
“And say, Truth has come, and falsehood has perished. Indeed falsehood, [by its nature], is ever perishing/bound to perish.” (The Night Journey, 17:81)
Guarding the Heart from Haram & Corruption
So, the heart of the servant can’t try to mix evilness within it. That if that evilness comes, what’s actually happening is the truth is leaving. The truth is diminishing and vanishing from the heart. Now there can be falsehood all around a person, all around an environment. Bt once it enters to the heart, it has taken the servant. Prophet ﷺ described that, ‘If one part of you bad, all of you will be bad, and it’s the heart.’
Because the hands may do something not correct, the feet may do things that are not correct, many mouths may do things that are not correct. But if the house of Allah (AJ), the qalb (heart) of the servant, the center power point of insan (human being) becomes corrupted, all of them become corrupted. Prophet ﷺ described then guard your heart like having sheep. That never let your sheep to graze on the boundary of your property.
‘An An Nu’man bin Bashir (ra) qal, yaqulo: sami’tu RasulAllahi ﷺ yaqulo: “Al halalu bayyinun wal haramu bayyinun, wa baynahuma mushabbahatun la ya’lamuha kasirun minan nas. Famanit taqal mushabbahati istabra’a lidinihi wa ’irdihi, wa man waqa’a fish shubuhati qara’in yar’a hawlal himaa, yushiku an yuwaaqi’ah. Ala wa innalikulli malikin himaa, ala inna himaal Allahi fi ardihi mahaarimuh. Ala wa inna fil jasadi mudghratan, izaa salahat salahal jasado kulluhu, wa iza fasadat fasadal jasado kulluhu, ala wa hiyal qalb.” [Ṣahih al Bukhari 52, Kitab 2, Hadith 45]
Narrated An-Nu’man bin Bashir (ra): “I heard Allah’s Messenger (pbuh) saying: ‘Both legal and illegal things are evident but in between them there are doubtful (suspicious) things and most of the people have no knowledge about them. So whoever saves himself from these suspicious things saves his religion and his honor. And whoever indulges in these suspicious things is like a shepherd who grazes (his animals) near the Hima (private pasture) of someone else and at any moment he is liable to get in it. (O people!) Beware! Every king has a Hima and the Hima of Allah on the earth is His illegal (forbidden) things. Beware! There is a piece of flesh in the body, if it’s corrected/perfected the whole body becomes good. But if it gets spoiled, the whole body gets spoiled, and that is the heart. [Ṣahih al Bukhari 52, Book 2, Hadith 45]
Because they start to eat what’s haram and not yours. So, be vigilant of one’s heart. Be vigilant of what’s true, what’s right, what’s good. Not to corrupt it.
Wuquf ul-Qalb : Vigilance of the Heart to Reach Al-Aqsa
Wuquf ul-qalb – the vigilance of the heart is the whole focus of tafakkur (contemplation). This ayatul kareem [Holy Qur’an, 17:1] is an extreme power that Allah (AJ) grants for us. Because Qur’an is a true power from the lips and heart of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. That if we prepare our heart with purity, forbid the evilness to enter within the heart, then everything in the heart and around the heart becomes holy. Then Allah (AJ) grants for us movement to Al-Aqsa – the pinnacle. The Masjid al-Aqsa means then the heart at the most pinnacle and profound height which is the prophetic heart.
Al-Aqsa is the Heart of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ
So then Allah (AJ) is granting for us an access to the furthest heart, the most powerful, the most supreme heart in creation – heart of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. That it consists of alif, qaaf, saad, alif. That this ‘izzah and might that takes us to the saad, and these are the great Siddiqs (truthful) in truthfulness. That with that pure heart, if our heart becomes like haramain. It means that we try our best to forbid all our organs from evilness and forbidden, but most supreme is the heart. That not to let it enter. Once it enters, evilness enters into the heart means every intention becomes evil, every intention becomes wicked. That’s why the heart is supreme. That my heart is good but maybe sometimes my action, my mouth, my character may not be correct. But to have a pure heart means it wasn’t intentional. Evilness when it comes like Nafs Al Ammara (Evil Self) means they intend to speak something bad to hurt you. They intended to do something physical to hurt the servant. Allah (AJ) says: if we can purify the openings of Isra wal Mi’raj, the openings of Rajab is that our life and this light that comes to us make the heart haramain.
With the love of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ don’t let evilness to enter into the heart in which you begin to plan on wickedness. If the heart remains in its pure state, then Allah (AJ) take it to Al-Aqsa – the furthest boundary. The highest pinnacle of achievement for a servant of Allah (AJ) is to gain access to that heart that is Manzil ul Qur’an (where Holy Qur’an emanates) that is the fountain head of the Speech of Allah (AJ).
Inside Nurul Muhammad ﷺ (light of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ) is the Aqsa.
Alif: That with an ‘izzat (might) that has to dress us, Allah (AJ) takes us to the great Siddiqs.
Saad: These the great Siddiqs whom are truthful in their deeds and in their actions. That’s why we described the Ka’bah has two doors. The four khalifas (representatives) are for purifying. Two of which Prophet ﷺ gave to them a path and spiritual paths to bring believers to the heart of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. So this saad takes us to the qaaf.
Qaaf: “Qaaf wal Qur’anil Majeed.”
50:1 – “Qaaf, wal Quranil Majeed.” (Surat Qaaf)
“Qaaf. By the honored Qur’an.” (The Letter Qaaf, 50:1)
This is the source of power. This is what we described as Manzil ul Qur’an, it’s being now defined by Aqsa, When we’re saying the qalb of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, Allah (AJ) then defining it with the huroof (Arabic letters). That the heart of Prophet ﷺ is Al-Aqsa, is the reality of the huroof of Aqsa. Because within the heart is an ‘izzah and might, within the heart are only the Siddiqs whom they are truthful in their deed and in their actions. It is Manzil ul Qur’an and it has a “Qaaf, wal Qur’anil Majeed” and all quwwah and power is based off of that. ‘Izzatullah (Allah’s (AJ) Might and Magnificence) is the source of all of it. It means the opening to this reality is the pure heart.
Two Keys to the Reality of Heart: As-Sami (The All-Hearing) Al-Basir (The All-Seeing)
Then Allah (AJ) gives us two names as its door – As-Sami, Al-Basir. [Holy Qur’an, 17:1]. The only way to this heart and to this reality, sifat (attribute) as–Sami, al-Basir. These are then in the lataifs (subtle energy points) in the understanding of the qudras of the heart. As-Sami, Al-Basir – these are the veilings of the heart.
Sifat as-Sami:
That sifat as-Sami only opens for the servants whom lived a life of “Sam’ina wa ata’na” – ‘I heard and I obeyed.’ This is the way that is Prophet’s ﷺ existence and reality.
(Surat Al-Baqarah)
“…We hear, and we obey: (We seek) Thy forgiveness, our Lord, and to Thee is the end of all journeys.” (The Cow, 2:285)
Because of that Sami, Allah (AJ) granted YaSeen – ‘You are the yaqeen (certainty) of Sami. Amongst all My creation not an angel, not a Prophet (as) hears Me as Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ hears Me. As a result it is YaSeen – yaqeen as-Sami.’ That if you want access to this reality the purified heart, Allah (AJ) gives the two keys of Sami, Al-Basir. That, take a life in which to open – ‘I heard and I obeyed, my life was Sami.’
As-Sami means that I heard the message, I heard the realities, I heard the teachings and as a result not only I heard them I implemented them in my life. When the shaykh is teaching me something, I’m implementing it. I’m not stalling on it, I’m not looking at it as an entertainment. Otherwise, there’s something blocking the ears and that’s shaitan. What was the caliber of Prophet ﷺ is that hearing to perfection. As a result he trained his holy Sahabi (Holy Companions of Prophet ﷺ) to be “Sam’ina wa ata’na” – ‘We heard and we obeyed.’ Not we heard and we contemplated, but we heard and we obeyed. As a result, it was proof that there was no shaitan blocking their hearing.
We said the biggest danger is when they hear haqqaiqs and then they chew around in their head, ‘Hmm I wonder what this is like maybe like, maybe like, like.’ Shaitan is up there and everything they hear is being contaminated with shaitan. The perfection of hearing and faith is that they hear it and they obey it, they implement it to the best of their ability in their life.
Sifat al-Basir:
Allah (AJ) locked on this ayatul kareem, these two names because Sami opens Basir. The one whom lives a life of hearing, Allah (AJ) will grant them a life of seeing. The one whom cannot hear the guidance, cannot hear the instructions, cannot live by what they hear, Allah (AJ) will block their seeing and they’re not Ahlul Basirah (the people of spiritual vision). That’s why somebody comes with all these trainings and all these shaykhs putting into seclusions and crushing and taking a life of crushing and come and say, ‘I’m seeing this, I’m having dream of this,’ this is garbage. This life was based on hearing.
If in their life they heard, they implemented, they listen, they listen correctly, and they strive to succeed in what they heard, Allah (AJ) opened for them sifat al-Basir and these are Ahlul Basirah. That their ears are very fine-tuned, very delicate, their hearts are very subtle. Whatever energies are coming, their hearts are picking up. As a result, Allah (AJ) grant them basir and vision. The only way spiritual vision opens through perfection of hearing.
The Mi’raj (Ascension) of Believers is to the Holy Heart of Prophet ﷺ
If they hear shaitan perfectly, they will see shaitan perfectly. If they hear the Divinely call to perfection, Allah (AJ) will open the Divinely lights and sights within the heart of the servant and they become Ahlul Basirah. This is the mi’raj of the believers. That what Allah (AJ) open for Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ is for Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. What Allah (AJ) opens to the nation is a nation who should appreciate and love Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. As a result, they lost that. They no longer think the heart of Prophet ﷺ is their goal and destination. The furthest boundary, the furthest limit, the highest pinnacle was Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ and is Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. That was what Prophet ﷺ described of faith. ‘Ya Umar (as) you have to love me more than you love yourself, your family, and your children.’
‘An Anas ibn Malik (ra) qala, qala Rasulullahi ﷺ “La yuminu ahadukum hatta akona ahabba ilayhi min walidihi wa waladihi wan nasi ajma’yeen.” [Sahih Muslim, Hadith 44, wa Al Bukhari, Kitabul Iman, Hadith 15]
Narrated by Anas son of Malik (ra) that Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said: “None of you will have faith till he loves me more than his father, his children, and all mankind.” [Authentic by Muslim, Hadith 44 & by Al Bukhari, Book of Faith, Hadith 15]
Losing Al-Aqsa by Losing the Love for Prophet ﷺ
It was the sign of faith and iman. It was the Aqsa for all the Companions (as). That Allah (AJ) gave to them a heart. If they made it to be like haramain and pure and clean and no evilness, Allah (AJ) would open for them the Aqsa of their reality which was the heart of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. For Holy Companions, they achieved 124,000 Holy Companions, 124,000 awliya. As the nation forgets the reality of Al-Aqsa and they think they’re going to be fighting for a structure, some moldings, some wood, some ancient tiles, maybe some concrete and stones. They forgot what it symbolized. As a result, they left Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ and Allah (AJ) will take away Al-Aqsa from their hands in addition.
If they forget the spiritual significance of Prophet ﷺ, our mi’raj, our way is to the heart of Prophet ﷺ. Then no doubt a nation that forgets their heart should be connected to the reality of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. Then what is the benefit of the physical structure when they don’t understand the spiritual structure? That’s why in last days Aqsa will be lost from the nation. As a result their love for Prophet ﷺ is symbolized will be lost from the nation. As a result, the advent of dajjal (man of deceit) enters and talks much about “La ilaha illAllah” but no mention of “Muhammadun Rasulallah ﷺ.” So means these are the events that are happening.
Sidratul Muntaha (Lote Tree of The Furthest Boundary) was a Gift for Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ Only
When people return back to the understanding of Al-Aqsa. They understand that the furthest boundary is not Allah (AJ) for us. We’re not going to Sidratul Muntaha, it’s an arrogant people arrogant nation. This was only a gift for Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ and the people must be with their imam (religious leader). Their love enough for Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. Their life was to struggle to enter into the heart of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ and that Prophet ﷺ to be pleased with us. That our Durood (praising on Prophet Muhammad ﷺ), our salawats (praises upon Prophet Muhammad ﷺ), our character, our ambassadorship of ‘ishq and love and good character, good kholoq. All of that which would make Prophet ﷺ happy with us would make Allah (AJ) happy with us.
A Systematic Effort of Munafiqeen (Hypocrites) to Erase the Love for the Prophet ﷺ
So then we see exactly what’s happening, the people are forgetting the importance of Prophet ﷺ means they already lost Al-Aqsa. So, when they turn around and find that the structure also has been stolen from them, sold from them. Why? Because the munafiqs (hypocrites) came for 50-60 years they talked against Prophet ﷺ. They propagated the Hadith that they wanted to propagate and took out what was not. They even revised tafirs (interpretation) of people who had passed away long before and change Qur’an interpretations. Why? To take the love of Prophet ﷺ away, to take away the reality of Al-Aqsa.
Al-Aqsa has been sold long ago. Its haqqaiq and its reality been sold long ago. As a result, we are an empty nation who when we post about the love of Prophet ﷺ the only one complaining is the nation. Supposable nation that has a problem with the birth of their Prophet ﷺ. They have a doubt on the Isra wal Mi’raj of their Prophet ﷺ, they have a doubt on the love of their Prophet ﷺ. They have a doubt on the ihtiram and respect of their Prophet ﷺ. So means they lost everything. The munafiq sold it from their hearts 60-70 years ago and as a result, now the physical manifestation of the loss of Al-Aqsa no doubt will occur.
What Makes Something to be Holy?
Al-Aqsa was symbolic of the reality of Prophet ﷺ. It was symbolic of the symbolism of Prophet ﷺ traveling Isra bringing all the ruhaniyat (spirituality) and realities of Prophets (as). 124,000 prophets (as) of Allah (AJ) gathered in Jerusalem in their spirituality to pray behind Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. That’s what gave honor to that region anciently. Said, ‘But this was the last of Prophets (as),’ but there’s no time for Allah (AJ). The only reason that area is holy is because Prophet ﷺ was destined to appear there, pray there, bring his ruhaniyat there. Then the mi’raj into the heavens to occur there. Every appearance and location of Prophet ﷺ is what makes something to be holy, what makes something to be blessed by Allah (AJ).
Turuq (Spiritual Paths) Preserve and Safeguard the Reality of Al-Aqsa
So means then everything was related to the ‘ishq and muhabbat of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. So, alhamdulillah for the turuq and the tariqah (spiritual paths) that keep its understanding for those who understand that reality. They gave to us to preserve the reality of Al-Aqsa. All ‘ashiqeen (lovers) their hearts are Al-Aqsa. All the ‘ashiqeen their hearts safeguard the reality of the masjid of the furthest boundary. The heart of the furthest boundary, the heart in which witness the realities of Allah (AJ) and Qalb al-Muhammadiyah (Muhammadan Heart). That everything now is based on this reality and this spirituality.
We pray that Allah (AJ) grant us this mi’raj with our Durood, our salawats, our love, and our ‘ishq. We sit and meditate for the love of Prophet ﷺ. Then grant us Ya Rabbi, grant us from the alif, the qaaf, the saad and the alif, its haqqaiqs and its realities. Put those realities within our heart. As we love the Holy Companions, we love Ahlul Bayt (Holy Family of Prophet ﷺ) and lovers of Qur’an, lovers of the heart of Prophet ﷺ. To make our hearts the custodian of that which is going to be lost upon this Earth.
Subhana rabbika rabbal ‘izzati ‘amma yasifoon, wa salaamun ‘alal mursaleen, walhamdulillahi rabbil ‘aalameen. Bi hurmati Muhammad al-Mustafa ﷺ wa bi siri Surat al-Fatiha.
