Unveiling Divine Love Through the Light of Milad un Nabi ﷺ
From the Realities of Mawlana (Q) as taught by Shaykh Nurjan Mirahmadi
A’uzu Billahi Minash Shaitanir Rajeem
Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem
I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan
In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful
Alhamdulillahi Rabbil ‘aalameen, was salaatu was salaamu ‘alaa Ashraful Mursaleen, Sayyidina wa Mawlana Muhammadul Mustafa ﷺ.
Do You Recognize the Significance of Milad un Nabi ﷺ?
Always a reminder for myself, ana abdukal ‘ajeez, wa dayeef, wa miskin, wa zhalim, wa jahl, and but for the grace of Allah (AJ) that we’re still in existence. InshaAllah, happy Jashne Eid Milad un Nabi ﷺ for all who are watching and who will watch and who have watched and for ourselves, our family and our communities, may Allah (AJ) continue to dress us from the immensity of these lights and these blessings. No one knows its true value until they value the true reality of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ.
That those whom debate and argue or don’t recognize – when they don’t recognize the birth, they don’t recognize the importance of the one whom is born. Alhamdulillah, with Allah’s (AJ) immense grace and rahmah (mercy) that guided us to this path. This path of realities is not a path of only seeking my reality, your reality, but Allah (AJ) guided us to seek Divinely realities and most important – the Muhammadan Reality ﷺ.
Allah (AJ) is a Hidden Treasure Wanting to Be Known
By loving Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ and by Allah (AJ) dressing us in that direction, blessing us in that direction, we are the fortunate ones who gained an understanding of the immensity of that light, the immensity of its importance. That, ‘Allah (AJ) is a hidden treasure wanting to be known.’
Qala Rasulallahi ﷺ, Qala Allah (AJ): “Kuntu kanzan makhfiyya, fa ahbabtu an a’rafa, fa khalaqtu khalqan, fa ‘arraftahum bi fa ‘arafonee.” [Hadith al Qudsi – Behar al Anwar, Al ‘Alama al Majlisi, Juz’ 84, Safha 199]
The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said, that Allah (AJ) said: “I was a hidden Treasure then I desired to be known, so I created a creation to which I made Myself known; then they knew Me.” [Holy Hadith – Bihar al Anwar, by Al ‘Alama al Majlisi, Volume 84, Page 199]
Your Actions Manifest What’s in Your Heart
So, when we contemplate and meditate that Allah (AJ) wants to be known and is a hidden treasure, then this way and this gift is immense. This understanding of this love is immense. That’s why the reward is so high. That Allah (AJ), all those whom claim to love Allah (AJ), love the Creator, love the one whom is the Almighty, then that love has to have a sincerity. As a result, Allah (AJ) guides that one whom is in love to its realities and its secrets.
So, imagine the mystery of love and ishq. That when we love something with all our heart and with all our being, it’s not what we say with our lips, ‘Oh, I love Allah (AJ). Oh, I love Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ’ because Allah (AJ) is always inspiring and teaching that it’s the action that counts, not the words. The words can come easy for people. The action is what is important. The action manifests what’s within the heart.
Seek Out the Manifestation of Divine Love
In this whole month, we’ve talked about manifestation and its importance. That we are a very powerful being and everything else is manifesting around us. Our desires manifest so what is around somebody, you can see their desires on how it manifested – their work, their job, their dunya (material world). Everything is a manifestation of what was in their heart.
The strongest, most important manifestation is the manifestation of Divine love. That if we sought out truly to love Allah (AJ), truly to serve Allah (AJ) with ourself, “Qul inna salati wa nusuki wa mahyaya wa mamati lillahi Rabbil ‘Aalamin.” With myself, with my family, with my rizq (sustenance), with my entire being, I sought out to love the Divinely Presence. Then Allah (AJ) would have begun to manifest that love.
6:162 – “Qul inna salati wa nusuki wa mahyaya wa mamati lillahi Rabbil ‘Aalamin.” (Surat Al-An’am)
Say, “Indeed, my prayer, my services of sacrifice, my living and my dying are for Allah, Lord of the worlds.” (The Cattle, 6:162)
Show Your Love through Actions, Not Just Words
We have that ability within our hearts. If we apply that action and if we had applied that action, we would have seen the manifestation of that love. We would have seen that Muhammadan light manifest all around us, the Muhammadan way manifest all around us because that’s the reality of this ishq (love).
That when we love it and we put it into action; not that we just say by, you know, a couple emojis or maybe by our tongue we’ve said to other people, ‘I love Allah (AJ) so much’ but to put that action, to put it into action, that love. That, ‘Ya Rabbi, I love You’ and begin with my heart and soul that I have to put it into action. I have to find a way in which to show that love. I pray. I pay. I do all the things that Allah (AJ) has asked of me. I want to now give and go and give a khidmat and a service.
You Can Only Find Allah (AJ) Through the Love of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ
Allah (AJ) then allows now that love to grow and begins to yearn for the understanding of who is Muhammadun Rasulallah ﷺ. Then they study the Seerah (biography of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ). They read about the beatific grace, the beatific character, the beatific smile. That Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ brought a rahmah, a love and a mercy to an area that was unfamiliar with those characteristics.
A group of honoured men in the way in which they followed, they followed because of the love of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. Again, saying that they didn’t know Allah (AJ); what they understood of generosity, they saw through the character of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. What they understood of love and compassion, of all the good characteristics they found that in the reality and in the person and in the being of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. As a result of that love, they found Allah (AJ) and that’s what’s important.
The Holy Companions Were Completely Devoted to Prophet ﷺ
Now people are trying to find Allah (AJ), but they didn’t find Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. That’s what’s been lost. That we have to go through creation to understand the Creator. Nobody can jump to the Creator. That’s a satanic understanding. That’s why shaitan (satan), that’s his belief. He didn’t like anything in creation and he only wanted to deal with the Creator in a state of arrogance. This reality that is opening for us and if we follow the way of the Holy Companions, that’s the example that they gave because they didn’t know anything of Allah (AJ). They had an understanding of the Divine and there were 360 statues in Mecca. So, ‘Is the Divine this one? Is the Divine the one for water? Is it the Divine is the one for air? Is the Divine for the one for prosperity and childbirth?’
But what they understood is the character and the love and what was being taught by Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. So, they said that, ‘When we hear your understanding of tawheed and oneness, we understand it. When we see the level of compassion that you have, we must be amazed at the level of compassion that Allah (AJ) must have which is far greater than anything in creation. When we understand your level of generosity, we understand how generous Allah (AJ) will be to us and dress us and bless us.’
Love of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ and the True Way of Self-Knowledge
As a result of that ishq of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, they found Allah (AJ) as a hidden treasure. They found Allah (AJ). They found Allah (AJ) in that reality and in the heart of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. Then today, that’s left and that’s been lost. Everyone talks about trying to find Allah (AJ) and they negate or misunderstand the importance of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. So, ‘ashiqeen (lovers) and these ways of tariqah (spiritual path) are bringing back the real way, the real way.
The real way is to know ourselves and when we know ourself and we know that the character and the love that we’re supposed to have. How am I supposed to…if I begin to take a path to know myself, then I’m going to look and see myself. It should be exemplared or an example from the one whom is the best of selves, the best of creation.
Qala Rasulullahi ﷺ: “Man ‘arafa nafsahu faqad ‘arafa Rabbahu”
The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said: “Who knows himself, knows his Lord.”
Become Muhammadiyoon to Gain Nazar and Love of Allah (AJ)
I want to know how should my character be. Then I look to my messenger – the messenger of Allah (AJ). That my character should be Muhammadiyoon. That how should I be soft? How should I talk? How should I conduct myself? How should I appear? How should I govern myself, my people, my community, my family – all of that? If I wanted to know myself, I would have begun my journey to understand who is Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ.
That’s why we are Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama’ah (People of Prophetic Tradition and of the Majority) because when we felt that love and that love for trying to know myself and to really love Allah (AJ), that I want Allah (AJ) to love me. Well, how is He going to love me? He’s probably going to want me to be like Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. So, then I’m going to make an example of myself to follow that way. What did he do? How did he eat? How did he look? How did he pray? How did he talk? That’s what leads us in that direction of Muhammadun Rasulallah ﷺ.
True Followers Of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ Embody Gentleness, Not Harshness
When it’s sincere – because you see the people whom they’re hard and you say, ‘What part of this hardness that you have was from Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ?’ We don’t find it. We don’t find it in the hadith. We don’t find it in any of the Seerahs and in the examples. Then you can understand that person is misled. So, that’s why he was the exemplar. When they talk and they talk hard, we go places and they’re screaming, they’re yelling. Say, ‘I don’t ever remember reading anything from the Seerah of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ in which he raised his voice.’
As a matter of fact, Allah (AJ) says in Qur’an, ‘Don’t raise your voice in his presence’ because it’s a bey ihtiram. It’s a great disrespect to the one whom represents Allah (AJ).
49:2 – “Ya ayyu hal ladheena amano la tarfa’o aswatakum fawqa sawtin Nabiyyi wa la tajharo lahu bilqawli kajahri ba’dikum liba’din an tahbata a’malukum wa antum la tash’uroon.” (Surat Al-Hujurat)
“O you who have believe, do not raise your voices above the voice of the Prophet, nor speak loud to him in speech as you may speak loud to one another, lest your deeds become worthless while you perceive not.” (The Rooms, 49:2)
If You Love Allah (AJ), Follow Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ (Holy Qur’an, 3:31)
So, it means that we understood that this sincerity of seeking Allah (AJ) led us to Muhammadun Rasulallah ﷺ. Just by the mere means as I wanted to make Allah (AJ) happy, I wanted to be an example of what Allah (AJ) wanted from a man, from a human and that was the one that led us to that reality. As a result of moving to that reality, if we have sincerity, Allah (AJ) begins to open the ishq and the love of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. When that love begins to enter into the heart, that what a generous character that Prophet ﷺ had. What an amazing personality. That how he commanded all these men to have such an extreme love for him that they would lay their life down within an instant. They didn’t even think about themselves for an instant. That requires a love and ishq. That’s not something mandated.
When someone doesn’t know Allah (AJ) and the only fear they have of Allah (AJ) is from what they heard of from Muhammadan Rasulallah ﷺ. It’s their fear was to disappoint Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. Their ishq and their love and their muhabbat was directed to Prophet ﷺ. That’s why ayatul kareem (the generous verse of Holy Qur’an), “Qul in kuntum tuhibbon Allah.”
3:31 – “Qul in kuntum tuhibbon Allaha fattabi’uni, yuhbibkumullahu…” (Surat Ali-Imran)
“Say, [O Muhammad], “If you should love Allah, then follow me, [so] Allah will love you …” (Family of Imran, 3:31)
Following Prophet’s ﷺ Way Brings Us Closer to Allah (AJ)
That eternally and for all of creation because the Muhammadan reality is not this small Earth. The Muhammadan reality is for everything that comes into existence. That at the level of the atomic reality, Allah (AJ) doesn’t speak to the Earthly reality. Allah (AJ) doesn’t care for the Earthly reality, doesn’t care for the world of form. It’s less than the wing of a mosquito in Allah’s (AJ)…the value of entire creation is what Allah (AJ) looking.
So, that ‘Qul in kuntum tuhibbon Allaha – tell them if this creation wants My love. If they want My love, fattabi’uni. That everything about them is they should be following your example, following your way, following your standard, your character, your khulq.’ (Holy Qur’an, 3:31) Only by that real sincere following that you raise your voice, you say, ‘This wasn’t the sunnah (traditions of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ).’ You act aggressive, ‘That wasn’t the sunnah.’ Anything you do wrong, it comes against “fattabi’uni” so then they didn’t reach, “yuhbibkumullah.” That was the secret that the awliyaullah (saints) came to teach for us.
Intolerance And Violence Are Not The Teachings Of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ
If you see someone fasiq and not following the way of the Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, deviant in practices, not abiding by the shari’ah (Divine Law), it goes both ways. If they’re angry and they’re yelling and screaming and rough, you say, ‘This wasn’t the way and this was not the teachings of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. Intolerant and violent was not the teachings of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ.’ Loose and wild was definitely not the way. We are a middle nation in which we are not loose and wild. We are not extreme, but we uphold the way and justice and firmness in the Divinely way.
When they followed that way, then they gained the love of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ and as a result, Allah (AJ), “fattabi’uni” accepted their itiba’ – accepted that they are following the most beloved. As a result of Allah (AJ) accepting that they are following the most beloved, “Yuhbibkumullah” means that Allah (AJ) began to send His Divinely love into their heart. So, this is all about Allah (AJ). So, people who don’t understand and say, ‘Why you don’t focus on Allah (AJ)?’ It is but you just don’t understand how that’s happening, the one whom says something like that.
Strive to Meet the Example of the One Allah (AJ) Loves Most
This is about how to gain Allah’s (AJ) love. This was only about how to gain Allah’s (AJ) love. Allah (AJ) directed that love that, ‘You follow the one whom I love. You follow the example of the one whom I love. You follow the character of the one whom I love and you should find a hidden treasure within his heart.’ They found Allah (AJ). As a result of finding Allah (AJ), that light began to enter into their heart, the Divine love. That Divine love, when it enters into the heart, that servant becomes overwhelmed with the love of all creation. That begins to understand that Allah’s (AJ) ishq and love that enters into their heart begins to make them to understand the love that’s within all creation.
Within every creature, Allah (AJ) has brought with love. Within every insan (human being), Allah (AJ) has brought with love. That’s why then their khulq (character) even becomes more rushd and more ripened. If they had good character from the love of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, imagine when the love of Allah (AJ) begins to enter into their soul and Divinely love and Divinely grace begins to dress them. They become walking examples of, ‘I was a hidden treasure and I want it to be found.’ It means that they found Allah (AJ). They found this ishq of Allah (AJ). They found this love of Allah (AJ). So, then how could they not put all their life, all their money, all their time in the celebration of the existence of the reality of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ?
Celebrate Mawlid un Nabi ﷺ, the Birth of Light and the Beginning of All Creation!
Mawlid un Nabi ﷺ (celebration of the birthday of Prophet ﷺ) is the birth of the light of all creation, all universes; not only the birth of the physicality, but we don’t speak from the physicality. Our teachings are based on malakut (heavenly realm) and the world of light. That when we celebrate the Milad and celebrate, we’re celebrating this light of coming into existence. From the moment in which Allah (AJ) “Kun faya koon, I want to be known’ and this light of Muhammadun Rasulallah ﷺ exploded upon creation.
36:82 – “Innama AmruHu idha Arada shay an, an yaqola lahu kun faya koon.” (Surat YaSeen)
“His Command is when He Wills/Intends a thing, He says to it, “Be,” and it is!” (YaSeen, 36:82)
That’s the Milad un Nabi ﷺ. That’s the reality of celebrating the Milad, celebrating the birth of all existence, the birth of myself, of every creation, every universe. Everything coming into existence by that light and by that reality just by the mere fact that Allah (AJ), ‘I was a hidden treasure.’ Nothing existed at that time. Nothing existed. Nothing manifested, but, ‘I wanted to be known.’ At the moment that Allah (AJ) wanted to be known and it left the will and manifested to the order, everything began to appear. That appearance is the Milad un Nabi ﷺ. So, you can imagine with…can’t even put into words, with a symbol of a ‘boom,’ everything came into existence, that ‘I wanted to be known.’ That is the greatness of Milad un Nabi ﷺ.
Allah (AJ) Wants to Be Known Through His Most Perfect Creation, Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ
So, imagine that as awliya (saints) tried to explain, ‘Eat the dressings and the blessings of that event.’ That they work their whole year to propagate that. All their teachings propagate that point, that nuqt (dot), that reality of the nuqt when the two energy comes and existence comes into existence.
Every book is about that. Every lecture is about that. Every video is about that. Everything that they do is with the intention of the celebration of the understanding of the Milad un Nabi ﷺ – is the birth of the Muhammadan reality. That reality is Allah (AJ) wanting to be known and will be known through His creation, known through the haq (truth) in which He created, the most purified light in which He created, the perfected character in which He created.
Milad Celebrations Bring Immense Rewards Through Sincere Intentions
So, how can you even describe the rewards of such an event and such a blessing? That Mawlana Shaykh (Q) teaches that if you eat just from these shaykhs of these Milads (celebration of the birthday of Prophet ﷺ) of these understandings because ‘Kulu amal bin niyat.’
‘An Amirul Mumineen ‘Umar ibn al Khattab (as) qala: qala Rasulullahi ﷺ: “Innama al ‘aamaalu bin niyaat.” [Sahih Muslim, Raqam 1907, Kitab 33, Hadith 22]
The leader of the believers ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab (as) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said: “Verily all deeds/actions are based on their intentions.” [Source: Authentic by Muslim: Number 1907, Book 33, Hadith 22]
This ‘amal (action) of muhabbat (love) not only has nothing to be judged, but by every knowledge that they have in which they are doing and celebrating all these events, it’s with their ‘uloom (knowledges). It’s also packed with the knowledge of what they know, why they’re doing it. Imagine the immensity of those events.
Eat Under the Tajalli of Milad un Nabi ﷺ to Wash Away All Your Sins
Then describing that just eating from that washes away every sin, every sayyiat that the person has put upon their existence; just eating from the food of Milad un Nabi ﷺ. Watching the Milad and eating at home under that tajalli (manifestation) – all of these teachings are so immense and so beatific and so filled with Allah’s (AJ) rahmah. That’s why Allah (AJ) say, “Wa maa arsalnaka Rahmatal lil’alameen.” That, ‘You don’t understand. I would not have brought all of this into existence. I would not have brought all of this into existence except that it’s a rahmah and a mercy.’
21:107 – “Wa maa arsalnaka illa Rahmatal lil’alameen.” (Surat Al-Anbiya)
“And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad (pbuh)], except as a mercy to the worlds/creation.” (The Prophets, 21:107)
Seeking Sayyidina Muhammad’s ﷺ Mercy Brings Countless Blessings and Relief
Anything you do in the direction of the rahmah (mercy) of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, it has immense blessings; blessings to take away every difficulty. That once you clean – because you talk about the difficulties – that Allah (AJ) has to clean the servant of all their badness and difficulties and everything that has been put upon them. Once the servant has been cleaned, then the next talks are about the blessings and the dressing that Allah (AJ) is dressing upon the soul of the servant, dressing upon the qabr (grave) and the place of resting for the servant.
We pray that Allah (AJ) dress us as the tongue falls short in its ability to describe the immensity of these nights and the blessings of these nights. We pray that Allah (AJ) grant us from the intention of the heavens and what the heavens understands; intention from Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, from Holy Ahlul Baytin Nabi ﷺ (Holy Family of the Prophet ﷺ), from Holy Companions of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, of what they know the correct and most powerful of intentions and realities and from awliyaullah fis samayi wa fil ard (in the heavens and on earth). From what they know, ya Rabbi, grant us from these light and these blessings. Grant our family these lights, our families and communities these lights and these blessings.
Subhana rabbika rabbal ‘izzati ‘amma yasifoon, wa salaamun ‘alal mursaleen, walhamdulillahi rabbil ‘aalameen. Bi hurmati Muhammad al-Mustafa wa bi siri Surat al-Fatiha.
