I seek refuge in Allah (AJ) from the accursed Satan
In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful
Alhamdulillahi Rabbil ‘aalameen, was salaatu was salaamu ‘alaa Ashrafil Mursaleen, Sayyidina wa Mawlana Muhammadul Mustafa ﷺ.
Always a reminder for myself, ana abdukal ‘ajeez, wa dayeef, wa miskin, wa zhalim, wa jahl, and but for the grace of Allah (AJ) that we’re still in existence.
4:59 – “…Atiullaha wa atiur Rasula wa Ulil amre minkum…” (Surat an-Nisa)
“…Obey Allah, obey the Messenger, and those in authority among you…” (The Women, 4:59)
Glory Be to the One Who is All-Knowing and All Wise
Alhamdulillah, that Allah (AJ) granted us to enter into the month of Safar and the importance of the lunar months and the Islamic months. These are the dress of the Islamic prophet, Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. That Safar is a month of “Subhana man ‘Alimul Hakim.” ‘Glory be to the One who’s All-Knowing and All Wise’.
“Subhanal ’Alimul Hakim”
“Glory be to the All-Knowing, the Wise”
The Companions of the Cave Were Given a Dog of Miraculous Character
In this way of Shamsul ‘Arifeen (Sun of knowers), this is the month of the second lunar month that opens the reality of Surat Al-Kahf because this is based on the power of 9. The first lunar month and the reality of 9 and Surah Tawbah. The second lunar month opens the second 9 of Holy Qur’an becomes the 18th surah (chapter) and the reality of Surat Al-Kahf and it’s dress upon mankind. The beginning of the surah that we went over was about manners and the Companions of the Cave. They had a dog that followed them and they threw rocks at the dog to go away.
The dog was consistent and stayed the path; istiqam, that was firm upon the path. Allah (AJ) gave a miraculous character to the dog in which it stood up and spoke to the Companions that, ‘I’m not stopping and that you’ll find a need for me. That you go and serve Allah (AJ) and that I’ll be of service to you and to be of service to this authority’.
Tariqahs are Based on Divinely Manners Illustrated in Surah Al-Kahf
That was the purpose of tariqahs (spiritual paths). The tariqahs take from Surat Al-Kahf, Divinely manners. The etiquette is not designed by shaykhs out of their imagination, but its etiquette of Holy Qur’an on how to accompany the men and women of God. It means those whom are rijal (people of maturity), in which the actions and deeds and the realities upon their soul has a manner and etiquette defined by Allah (AJ). Surat Al-Kahf is the book of these manners. They come to teach us that these Ashab ul Kahf, the Companions of the Cave, inspired to leave that which these people worship. We said now, very relevant.
So, Qur’an is not a storybook of old, old stories but very relevant for any moment in time. Our moment in time is almost identical to Ashab ul Kahf (Companions of the Cave) in which their authority is claiming divinity. That’s when Allah (AJ) used the word ‘Rab’. We went into the word of ‘Rab’ and that it defines ‘authority’ and not Divine and describes that their authority decided to call himself divine. That if they stood any further with that individual, they would have come against Allah (AJ).
Allah’s (AJ) Only Religion is Islam; Others are Filled With Idolatry
We see that now prevalent in this world. The only religion of Allah (AJ) is Islam. So, very much relevant to the times in which we live. So, very much relevant to the times in which we live. That if you don’t accept that authority, they deem that they will take you away. What Allah (AJ) gave for us as a prescription, ‘Run from them and that which they worship and take yourself to the cave’.
(Surat Al-Kahf)
“When ye turn away from them and the things they worship other than Allah, betake yourselves to the Cave: Your Lord will shower His mercies on you and disposes of your affair towards comfort and ease.” (The Cave, 18:16)
Allah (AJ) is With You in the Cave of the Prophetic Heart
In that cave, Allah (AJ) will send a rahmah and a mercy. Awliyaullah’s (saints) hearts that are connected to Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, they’re giving to us that the cave is always symbolic of the heart. That the hijrah (migration) began with Prophet ﷺ and Sayyidina Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (as) to run to the cave which is the prophetic heart. That come, come into the prophetic heart. That we’re not alone. Allah (AJ) is with us.
9:40 – “…thaniya ithnayni idh huma fil ghari idh yaqolu lisahibihi la tahzan inna Allaha ma’ana, fa anzalAllahu sakeenatahu, ‘alayhi wa ayyadahu, bi junodin lam tarawha…” (Surat At-Tawba)
“… as one of two, when they were in the cave and he said to his companion, “Do not grieve; indeed Allah is with us.” And Allah sent down his tranquillity upon him and supported him with angels you did not see…” (The Repentance, 9:40)
Allah (AJ) is With Nabiyeen, Siddiqeen, Shuhada wa Saliheen
Anyone that goes into the cave with Prophet ﷺ, is not alone. Allah (AJ) is with them because Allah (AJ) says, ‘I’m with nabiyeen (prophets), siddiqeen (truthful), shuhada (martyrs), wa saliheen (righteous) and this is the best of company’.
4:69 – “Wa man yuti’ Allaha war Rasola faolayeka ma’al ladheena an’ama Allahu ‘alayhim minan Nabiyeena, was Siddiqeena, wash Shuhadayi, was Saliheena wa hasuna olayeka rafeeqan.” (Surat An-Nisa)
“And whoever obeys Allah and the Messenger (pbuh) are in the company of those on whom Allah has bestowed His Favours/Blessings – of the Prophets, the sincere Truthful, the Martyrs/Witnesses to the truth (who testify), and the Righteous, and excellent are those as companions.” (The Women, 4:69)
Run to Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ for Safety From Shaitan
So, it opens for us that what is “A’uzu Billah”? In every action of our life, how are we going to seek refuge in Allah (AJ) from the accursed? The only refuge in Allah (AJ) is in the presence of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. Because where on this Earth can you run that you think you’re with Allah (AJ), right? Because anywhere you go, shaitan is there.
But Allah (AJ) gave to us, ‘Run to Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ”. There, shaitan won’t come because the truth and the falsehood, they don’t mix. Falsehood, by its nature, zahooqan – it crumbles in the face of Prophet ﷺ.
17:81 – “Wa qul jaa alhaqqu wa zahaqal baatil, innal batila kana zahoqa.” (Surat Al-Isra)
“And say, Truth has come, and falsehood has perished. Indeed falsehood, [by its nature], is ever perishing/bound to perish.” (The Night Journey, 17:81)
Prophet ﷺ is Always Present and Witnessing
So, the whole system of tariqah (spiritual path) is to safeguard us. So, in my life from the deceit that is opening, I need to be in the presence of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ.
Hadhir-o-nadhir (present and aware), he’s ever-present and ever-witnessing more powerful than the power you give to the devil because everybody believes the devil’s everywhere, right? But devil takes is from ‘Izzatullah (Allah’s (AJ) Might and Magnificence), ‘izzatur Rasul (honour of the messengers), wa ‘izzatul mumineen (honour of the believers).
63:8 – “…Wa Lillahil ‘izzatu wa li Rasooli hi wa lil Mumineen…” (Surat Al-Munafiqoon)
“…And to Allah belongs [all] honor, and to His messenger, and to the believers…” (The Hypocrites, 63:8)
You Will Be With Whom You Love
That power to make him everywhere, he’s taking from the power and authority of Allah (AJ), the power and authority of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ and the power and authority of Ulul Amr (people of the command) and awliya (saints). So, the one whom is giving him power has more power.
So, Prophet’s ﷺ soul is everywhere. We just have to keep the company. So, the tariqah (spiritual path) comes and then teaches: well, how then to keep the company so that I’m safe, my family’s safe and my community’s safe? Then Prophet ﷺ gave to us a Hadith, ‘You will be with whom you love’.
‘An Anasin (ra): … Faqala (Rasulullahi) ﷺ: “Anta ma’a man ahbabta.”
Narrated Anas ibn Malik (ra) that …the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said: “You will be with whom you love.” [Source: Muslim 7520]
Love Prophet ﷺ More Than You Love Yourself and Your Loved Ones
Every question has an answer from Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. You’ll be with whom you love, better love the right people. You turn around and you look and say, ‘These are not the people I love’.
So, why are you with them? But it gives us the solution: if you want to be with Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, increase your love. For Maqamul Iman (station of faith), he told Sayyidina Umar (as), ‘Ya Umar, you have to love me more than you love yourself and your son and your family and your possessions’.
‘An Anas ibn Malik (ra) qala, qala Rasulullahi ﷺ “La yuminu ahadukum hatta akona ahabba ilayhi min walidihi wa waladihi wan nasi ajma’yeen.” [Sahih Muslim, Hadith 44, wa Al Bukhari, Kitabul Iman, Hadith 15]
Narrated by Anas son of Malik (ra) that Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said: “None of you will have faith till he loves me more than his father, his children, and all mankind.” [Authentic by Muslim, Hadith 44 & by Al Bukhari, Book of Faith, Hadith 15]
Focus Your Love on Prophet ﷺ, Allah (AJ) Will Focus on You
Tariqah’s whole path is now to define that. I have to live a life in which to love Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ one day more than myself. This is my goal. Every importance that I put upon myself, everybody loves everything for themselves. They take the best care of themselves. Nobody even has to be taught that. They eat the best, they do the best, they want the best for themselves. Tariqah (spiritual path) comes and teaches: well, why don’t you want that for Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ?
It means to change the focus of love. We think if we love ourself, we’ll give to ourself. Then it becomes self-worship and then we’re surprised that Allah’s (AJ) madad and support not with us and we have to try to resolve everything. What Allah (AJ) gave to us and what Prophet ﷺ taught his companions? ‘You focus on me, Allah (AJ) will focus on you’.
We Cannot Reach La Ilaha IllAllah Without Muhammadun RasulAllah ﷺ
Because Prophet ﷺ is the religion, is the deen. That you focus on your deen. But they come and be very specific: what’s your deen?
Your deen, without Prophet ﷺ, well then, you could be anybody because “La ilaha illAllah” is not going to accomplish the key without Muhammadun Rasulallah ﷺ.
“La ilaha illallahu Muhammadun Rasulallah”
“There is no deity but Allah, Prophet Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.”
Allah (AJ) Sent Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to Perfect Our Manners and Character
So, then our life, very simplified was to focus on Prophet ﷺ: how to do the durood (praising on Prophet Muhammad ﷺ), how to make the salawat (praises upon Prophet Muhammad ﷺ), how to increase the love.
What did Prophet ﷺ love? “Addabani Rabbi fa ahsana fi ta’dib”. That, ‘Allah (AJ) sent me to perfect your manners and character’.
Qala Rasulullahi ﷺ : “Addabani Rabbi fa ahsana ta’dibi.”
The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said, “My Lord taught me good manners and He taught me in the most excellent way”
You Cannot Accompany Ulul Amr With Bad Characteristics
So, what’s dear to Prophet ﷺ? Manners, good character; not knowledge, not scholarships and muftis and hafiz (one who memorized Qur’an) and whatever these people think they are. It’s not of any importance without manners. So, then manners becomes the foundation of the entire system to gain the love and the admiration of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ to us. So, when we have good manners and good character, that’s what the Ashab ul Kahf was teaching us.
That’s why Allah (AJ) gave the example of throwing stones at a dog. If a dog can get to a paradise reality and be of Divinely service, then we have to rank at least a little bit better than a dog in our life. That, ‘Ya Sayyidi ya Rasulul Kareem (the Most Generous Messenger), I want to come into your service.’ ‘Find my Ulul Amr’. ‘And I want to live a life of service’. Control your character because you can’t accompany them angry. You can’t accompany them cheating, stealing. You can’t accompany them with all the bad characteristics.
Allah (AJ) Will Teach Those of Good Character and a Loving Nature
So, then the schools of tariqah (spiritual path) come and take a way in which to perfect your character. If the servant of Allah (AJ) has good character, good manners, loving nature, Allah (AJ) will teach him; doesn’t need a school to teach him. “Ittaqollah wa ’allimukumullah”.
2:282 – “…Wat taqollaha, wa yu’allimukumullahu, wallahu bi kulli shayin ‘Aleem.” (Surat Al-Baqarah)
“…And Be conscious of/Fear Allah, And Allah teaches you. And Allah is the All-Knower of everything.” (The Cow, 2:282)
Studying Without Good Manners Produces Arrogant People
This Qur’an is telling us, a Qur’anic system, not the man-made system and it’s not for everybody. The 90%, they go the other route. They take courses and classes and study. The study and the knowledge that they achieve without good manners produces the mass of arrogant people. [They] Memorize three Hadith and became an oppressor to people terrorizing and tormenting people.
But for khawas (elite) and those whom Allah (AJ) chose a different way in which what? ‘Attained a rahmah (mercy) and then we taught him Ilm e Laduni (Divinely Knowledge)’.
18:65 – “Fawajada ‘abdan min ‘ibadinaa ataynahu rahmatan min ‘indina wa ‘allamnahu mil ladunna ‘ilma.” (Surat Al-Kahf)
“So they found one of Our servant from among Our servants, on whom We had bestowed Mercy from Ourselves and whom We had taught [unseen/heavenly] knowledge from Our own Presence…” (The Cave, 18:65)
Sayyidina Khidr (as) Attained Mercy Before Knowledge
Because Surah Al-Kahf now takes us to that event. Verse 60 starts the relationship of one of those servants by the name of Sayyidina Abbas Khidr (as). Allah (AJ) gives to us, ‘Just one of my servants like this whom attained a rahmah’, right? Not mufti first. But ‘Attained a rahmah and then We taught him knowledges’. Ilm e Laduni, not accounting and English major because it’s not low level.
But Allah (AJ) is describing, ‘No, no, with this rahmah, We teach this servant’; one of them, so there must be many of them that are of this category. This is their academia. Said by Allah (AJ), this is the guidance from Allah (AJ), Surat Al-Kahf. That attained a rahmah and that’s why awliya come and say, ‘What is the rahmah of Allah (AJ)?’ It’s Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ – “Rahmatan lil’alameen”.
21:107 – “Wa maa arsalnaka illa Rahmatal lil’alameen.” (Surat Al-Anbiya)
“And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad (pbuh)], except as a mercy to the worlds/creation.” (The Prophets, 21:107)
Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ is the Most Merciful Understanding of Creation
Nabiur Rahmah (The Prophet of Mercy), Fattah ur Rahmah. Anyone who wants anything from Allah (AJ), it must be encapsulated in the reality of Prophet ﷺ because we are the people of creation. So, what is the most merciful understanding of creation? Say, ‘Oh, my neighbor, oh, my grandmother’. No, Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ must be the example for Allah (AJ). Say, ‘Allah’s (AJ) Most Merciful,’ but that’s not for you and me. We only know that mercy because Allah (AJ) created Prophet ﷺ. “Wa maa arsalnaka Rahmatal lil’alameen.” ‘I would not have sent him ﷺ except that he was a mercy to mankind’.
So, never over-exaggerate and give for Allah’s (AJ) title because that’s not us to talk so high. But what Allah (AJ) wants for us to understand is the mercy on your creation, on your Earth and in your planets and your universes and galaxies, it’s best symbol is Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. So, then we had to attain that rahmah so that Allah (AJ) would teach us. Why? Because this knowledge has power. This knowledge has authority, Heavenly and Divinely Authority.
‘Ashiqeen Have Immense Love of Prophet ﷺ Without Ever Seeing Him
As a result, Allah (AJ) wants to make sure that you attained the rahmah, you kept the companionship of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ and that he ﷺ signs off on you. That, ‘This is one whom loves me, trying to love me more than he loves himself. He loves me and I love him’. Prophet ﷺ described to Holy Companions, ‘There’s a group coming in the last days, they have not seen me but they would give everything and anything for one glimpse of me. They love me and I love them’.
The Companions became jealous, say: ‘I thought we’re the lovers’. Say, ‘No, you’re my Sahabi (Holy Companions of Prophet ﷺ); day and night here with me, of course, you’re going to love me. But they have not seen me’. It means what a state of love they were trained, how much ishq
(love) they have and then Prophet ﷺ giving to us that, ‘I love them. These are my muhibbin (lovers of the way) and ‘ashiqeen (lovers)’.
‘An Ansi bin Malik (ra) Qala, Qala Rasulullahi ﷺ:“Mata alqa Ahbabi? Faqala Ashabuhu: bi abina anta wa ammena, aw lasna ahbabak? Faqala ﷺ : Antum Ashabi, Ahbabi, qawmun lam yarawni wa aamano bi, wa ana ilayhim bil ashwaqil aksar.”
Narrated by Anas Ibn Malik, the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said: “When would I meet my beloveds? The holy companions said: May our fathers and mothers be sacrificed for you, aren’t we your beloveds? The prophet (pbuh) said: you are my companions. My beloveds are those who had never seen me and believed in me. And I am deeply longing for them”. [Source: Musnad Al Ferdaus (4/148).]
When We Love Prophet ﷺ, He Sends Us Back a Qudra, Nazar and Energy
So, in the last days, there’s a title given by Prophet ﷺ that, ‘My muhibbin, they love me and I love them. They don’t question my birth’. That doesn’t seem to be very loving. ‘Tomorrow is Bilal’s birthday’. ‘Who? Who cares? Why do I have to celebrate Bilal’s birthday?’ That wouldn’t be very loving if I talk like that. It’s like I don’t even care that you came on this Earth or not. So, that can’t be them who talk like that. ‘Why do you have to do so many salawats?’ Well, that can’t be them either.
This one whom Prophet ﷺ, Allah (AJ) is describing, ‘They love me and I love them’. It means they reached nuclear fusion. Which is the one that you don’t split? Fusion, right? The fission, you make an energy and everywhere, you made a mess. But this power is that when you reach to this Divinely love, Prophet ﷺ says: ‘They love me.’ He took that love. Now he’s going to multiply it by his holy reality and ‘I love them and I send back a qudra (power), a nazar (gaze) and energy,’ and they become more and more powerful with their love. Then you unlock the reality of why Prophet ﷺ described, ‘My companions are like stars on a dark night’. Why? Because he’s describing love, ‘I love them, they love me’.
“Ashabi kan Nujoom, bi ayyihim aqta daytum ahta daytum.”
“My companions are like stars. Whoever among them you follow, you will be rightly guided.” Prophet Muhammad (saws)
Remember Allah (AJ) and He Remembers You in a Higher Association
So, of course, anyone who enters into this Divinely fusion is going to be more powerful than a star because they give the little light they have and the big heart that they own. Prophet ﷺ takes it and multiplies it by what Allah (AJ), ‘Remember me and I remember you in a higher association’ because Allah (AJ) is multiplying whatever Prophet ﷺ is doing.
‘An Abi Hurairah (ra) qala, qala anNabi ﷺ, Yaqulo Allahu ta’ala: “ana ‘inda zanni ‘abdi bi, wa ana ma’ahu iza zakarani, fa in zakarani fi nafsihi zakartuhu fi nafsi, wa in zakarani fi malayi zakartuhu fi malayi khayrin minhum. Wa in taqarraba ilayya beshebrin, taqarrabtu ilayhi zera’an. Wa in qarraba ilayya zera’an, taqarrabtu ilayhi ba’an. Wa in atani yamshi ataytuhu harwalah.” [Sahih Al Bukhari, 6970, wa Muslim 2675]
Narrated by Abi Hurairah (ra) that Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said that “Allah the Most High said, ‘I am as my servant thinks/expects me. I am with him when he mentions/remembers me. If he mentions Me to himself, I mention him to myself. And if he mentions me in an association/congregation, I mention him in a greater/higher association than that. If he draws near to me a hand’s span/length, I draw near to him by the length of a cubit/arm’s length. If he draws near to Me by the length of a cubit, I draw near to him by the length of a fathom (6 feet). And if he comes to Me walking, I run to him.’” [Authentic by Al-Bukhari 6970, and Muslim 2675]
Taking that love, that ishq, that good character and then through a Divinely source raising it, dressing it, blessing it and tanzil ur Rahmah (descending mercy) and become the rain of barakah and blessing that dresses the soul of that individual, his children, family and community because it’s a rain of mercy that escapes no one. [It] Doesn’t shower just on individuals that he likes. There is a continuous rain of mercy from the love of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ upon these souls.
Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ Represents the Lights of Qur’an
Allah (AJ) describes that where they go, rain comes, barakah comes, blessing comes. Why? Because they’re like emanations of light and rain from Divinely Presence because the nazar (gaze) of Prophet ﷺ is upon them, loving them. That, ‘They love me and I love them’.
Prophet’s ﷺ love is Allah’s (AJ) Divinely love, pure with immense lights. What lights because what Prophet ﷺ represents? Lights of Qur’an; not the light you try to achieve by reading two verses, but the light that Prophet ﷺ pours into your heart because he loves you.
Prophet ﷺ Poured What He Received in the Heart of Sayyidina Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (as) Out of Love for Him
So, how he described Sayyidina Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (as)? ‘He’s more than you, not because of a station but for what Allah (AJ) has poured into his heart’. Why? Because his love for Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. The khalil gets the gift from Allah (AJ).
“Ma sabAllahu fi Sadri shay an illa wa sababtuhu fi sadri Abi Bakr as Siddiq.”
Prophet (pbuh) said, “Whatever I received, I poured in the heart of Abu Bakr as Siddiq.”
Follow Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ in Body and Spirit to Receive Allah’s (AJ) Love (Holy Qur’an, 3:31)
So, anywhere we look, the Holy Companions were an example of that. That all that you want to love in the world is never going to give you the gift like this. If you love Prophet ﷺ, Allah (AJ) will love you. This was the level of Prophet ﷺ loving you. His bounty of love fills you.
What Allah (AJ) said? “Qul in kuntum tuhibbon Allaha fattabi’uni, yuhbibkumullah”. ‘Tell them,’ now this is Allah (AJ) maximizing the reward, ‘Tell them if they want my love, fattabi’uni – they must follow you,’ in body and spirit because that ayah (verse) is not for only Companions of Prophet ﷺ.
3:31 – “Qul in kuntum tuhibbon Allaha fattabi’uni, yuhbibkumullahu…” (Surat Ali-Imran)
“Say, [O Muhammad], “If you should love Allah, then follow me, [so] Allah will love you …” (Family of Imran, 3:31)
Focus on Your Good Character, Allah (AJ) Will Perfect Everything
What are we going to say, ‘Oh, it’s not for us’? No, in body and in spirit. Qur’an is alive and Allah (AJ), “Fattabi’uni” – your whole life, follow Prophet ﷺ. By what? By good character, love, respect and good manners. [We] Don’t know anything, but be good in your character. Allah (AJ) will perfect everything.
But you go study a little bit and come back to be obnoxious, it’s not needed by anyone. So, that’s why in the last days, they don’t want…they don’t want somebody coming and trying to memorize two things and then the rest, they won’t learn. The rest, they’re going to feel with ignorance and arrogance and then begin to battle the reality. This love of fattabi’uni, Allah (AJ), ‘I will love them and if I love them, Ghafoor ur Raheem (The All Forgiving, The Most Merciful), I forgive them’.
Even a Crook Can Become a Saint With Divinely Love
Why? How can Allah (AJ) have something He wants to punish, but be with the love of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ? By virtue of the companionship of this love, Allah (AJ) will forgive the servant because this is Allah’s (AJ) love. ‘I love him so much, how I’m going to punish you and give you what you really deserve, but you’re accompanying Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ?’ So, this was an immense rahmah, immense mercy. That by virtue of this companionship you chose, this love that you chose, the best of Allah’s (AJ) treasures you chose, Allah (AJ) forgives the servant and begins to clean. Push the angels, ‘Inspire the servant to be good so that he’s worthy of this station of love I’m putting within their hearts’ and their kholoq and their characters change.
They can make a crook of saint just by love. That’s what we have in Rajab, right? The du’as (supplication) of Rajab makes a crook of saint because if he enters into the ocean of love, his crookery is gone. It’s not hard for Allah (AJ). We’re not even noticeable. In an epsilon of this universe, this Earth is not even visible. Well, imagine your sin. It’s Allah’s (AJ) one wipe and it’s gone. But if the foundation is correct, why to wipe it? ‘Because I love Your most beloved. Make me to be worthy of that love so that Prophet ﷺ is not ashamed by my presence’. That, ‘Oh look, this one my ‘ashiqeen (lover), look how crazy he is going everywhere, doing these crazy things’.
Tariqahs Focus on Good Manners and Character to Approach the Divinely Presence
By virtue of that, Allah (AJ) begin to wipe and clean because, ‘I only want that which is beautiful with my beloved love of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ’. That’s why the tariqahs have kholoq and character. If you come to one of the right ones, you should see the people very loving, like inhabitants of paradise. That’s not true for anywhere else. You go to many masjids and they’ll pickpocket you in the middle of your salah (daily prayer). I see videos on social media – guy is in sujood (prostration), somebody stealing purse. What happened to kholoq?
This is why the importance of these realities and these manners. As a result, Allah (AJ) now gave a different example. The school’s entry, even a dog can enter. Ashab ul Kahf, the dog. So, nobody says, ‘Oh I can’t go. Those are all like, you know, righteous people’. Absolutely not! The entry can be a dog as long as it has nice manners. If the dog plans on biting you every week, it will be thrown out, right, because the dog is going to eat you in the middle of your worship. But the entry was very low, very easy by Allah (AJ).
If a Dog Can Show Service and Loyalty to Enter Paradise, So Can You!
So, then who are these people that make everything difficult? They are hibzul shaitan (party of satan) and they work for shaitan. Why? Because shaitan doesn’t want anyone to enter Islam. He wants those for himself. They’re busy taking people to the devil and others are busy trying to take people to paradise. So, in the adab (manners) of Surat Al-Kahf, Allah (AJ) say: even a dog can enter into this reality so they can become like Ashab ul Kahf. Be of service. Be loyal.
Now on the other level, Sayyidina Musa (as) and Sayyidina Khidr (as) is that if anyone can get in, Allah (AJ) says, ‘I don’t care about the title and status that you have once you’re in’. So, he speaks to Allah (AJ), ‘alayhis salaam, but he’s still in need of something. So, it means there is no status and title that’s so high that says you don’t need to be taught which is unimaginable because, in this day and age, you can’t get a single scholar to listen to haqqaiq (realities). ‘Oh, I got my license here, got my mufti here, got like this here’.
Nabi Musa (as) Asked to See Allah (AJ) (Holy Qur’an, 7:143)
Allah (AJ) is sending kalimullah, that speaks to Allah (AJ); put into his heart, ‘Seek out one of My servants.’ After what he witnessed of the glory of Allah (AJ) that, ‘Ya Rabbi, let me see you’. Say, ‘You can’t see me. You’ll see my glory’.
7:143 – “Wa lamma jaa Musa limeeqatina wa kallamahu Rabbuhu, qala rabbi arinee anzhur ilayka, Qala lan taranee wa lakini onzhur ilal jabali fa inistaqarra makanahu, fasawfa taranee, falamma tajalla Rabbuhu lil jabali ja`alahu, dakkan wa kharra Musa sa`iqan, falamma afaqa qala subhanaka tubtu ilayka wa ana awwalul Mumineen.” (Surat Al-A’raf)
“And when Moses arrived at Our appointed time and his Lord spoke to him, he said, “My Lord, show me [Yourself] that I may look at You.” [Allah] said, “you will not see Me, but look at the mountain; if it should remain in its place, then you will see Me.” But when his Lord manifested His glory on the mountain, He made it as dust, and Moses fell unconscious. And when he awoke/recovered his senses, he said, “Glory be to You! to You I turn in repentance, and I am the first of the believers.” (The Heights. 7:143)
Sayyidina Musa (as) Saw the Muhammadan Light
Awliya (saints), all ‘ulama (scholars), Ahlus Sunnah (People of Prophetic Tradition) say he saw the Muhammadan Light. As a result of that khashf (spiritual state) and seeing that reality, ‘That’s it. I want where the two rivers meet and even if I spend my lifetime seeking that reality.’
18:60 – “Wa idh qala Mosa lefatahu laa abrahu hatta ablugha majma’a albahrayni aw amdiya huquba.” (Surat Al-Kahf)
“Behold, Moses said to his attendant, I will not give up until I reach the junction of the two seas or (until) I spend years and years in travel.” (The Cave, 18:60)
Sayyidina Khidr represents, ‘alayhis salaam, the Muhammadan haqqaiqs – the two rivers “La ilaha illAllah Muhammadun Rasulallah ﷺ”. The one whom speaks to Allah (AJ) departed upon his journey. That, ‘What you gave me of risalat (prophecy), not satisfying. I want where these two rivers meet’.
Nabi Musa (as) Forgot About the Fish, Representing the Soul (Holy Qur’an, 18:63)
We won’t go into the whole meeting. That we said for tomorrow and start going into that subject. But what happened then when he set out for that meeting? They had taken a fish for eating, they came to a rock. Yashua, his inheritor and the one who was taking care and serving, put the dried fish upon a rock to prepare a lunch.
They got busy with things and left. When he said, ‘Let’s eat, I’m hungry.’ He said, ‘It was ‘ajeeb (strange), shaitan made me to forget. When I put our lunch out, the fish came to life and jumped into the water’.
18:63 – “Qala araayta idh awayna ilas sakhrati fa-innee naseetu alhoota wa ma ansaneehu illash shaytanu an adhkurahu, wat takhadha sabeela hu fee al bahri ‘ajaba.” (Surat Al-Kahf)
“He said, Did you see when we retired to the rock? Indeed, I forgot [there] the fish. And none made me forget it except Satan – that I should mention it. And it took its course into the sea amazingly.” (The Cave, 18:63)
Ask for Allah’s (AJ) Entire Oceans of Mercy Like a Fish Who Wants to Drink It All
Then realizes, ‘That was the sign I was looking for where the dead fish come to life’. Fish is what? The symbol of the soul, right? A fish is a symbol of a soul that wants to be in Allah’s (AJ) oceans of rahmah and mercy and can never drink enough. Mawlana Shaykh (Q) described that make yourself like a fish. If you ever look at the fish, it wants to drink the entire ocean with every bite. Take from Allah’s (AJ) rahmah, immense as much as you can. No need to be cheap with Allah’s (AJ) rahmah.
Say, ‘I just want a little’. Say, ‘Ya Rabbi, I want Your entire oceans of rahmah and mercy and knowledges’. That when Sayyidina Musa (as) was setting out to meet one of these servants, he is the unseen prophet of Allah (AJ) because had he been standing there, he would have seen him. ‘Oh, you’re Sayyidina Khidr (as). I’m Musa (as) waiting to meet you’. When Allah (AJ) is giving the understanding in Qur’an that he was looking for a sign of the presence of Sayyidina Khidr (as) and that he represents an unseen prophet of Allah (AJ).
Slow Down to See the Signs Allah (AJ) Gives You
As a result of passing that reality, Nabi Musa (as) realized, ‘We were going too fast’. This is what we talked about last year, at this moment, because how this relates with us in life is that we’re moving too fast for the signs of Allah (AJ). If you’re going fast like that, if Sayyidina Musa (as) who speaks to Allah (AJ) missed the sign, we don’t stand a chance.
So, it means our life has to be slowed down. Meditation and contemplation has to be slowed down. Exactly what Sayyidina Musa (as) asked, that, ‘We have to turn around and this time, let’s go a little bit slower to find’. They went back to where they were looking until his heart could identify the hidden servant of Allah (AJ) that remained hidden, that nobody saw him, ‘alayhis salaam, except the heart of Sayyidina Musa (as).
Subhana rabbika rabbal ‘izzati ‘amma yasifoon, wa salaamun ‘alal mursaleen, walhamdulillahi rabbil ‘aalameen. Bi hurmati Muhammad al-Mustafa ﷺ wa bi siri Surat al-Fatiha.
