Like a Ship, Awliyaullah Traverse Through 12 Months
4:59 – “…Atiullaha wa atiur Rasula wa Ulil amre minkum…” (Surat An-Nisa)
“… Obey Allah (AJ), Obey the Messenger, and those in authority among you…” (The Women, 4:59)
Always a reminder for myself ana abdukal ‘ajeez, wa dayeef, wa miskin, wa zhalim, wa jahl, and by the grace of Allah (AJ) that we’re kept alive and Allah’s (AJ) (AJ) rahmah (mercy) keeps everything flowing and that we took a path to be nothing. Alhamdulillah, from awliyaullah (saints) teachings and their guidance for us on how to guide is that there are 12 months and these are 12 hijabs (veils) and there are 12 realities.
You like it, you don’t like it, Allah (AJ) doesn’t care but awliyaullah come to give from their understanding and teaching like a ship that’s traversing different oceans. As soon as they enter into the month of Safar, it means that you take the app, Muhammadan Way app, you download. You click months, you click the month of Safar. We put all of this at people’s fingertips, so easy to follow, to understand.
The Month of Safar and Secrets of 18 – 9×2
As soon as we look, shows you the second lunar month, Safar. It brings you to the 9 times 2 and the secret of 18. It means these are in the power of 9. Every month at this teaching is from the sultanate (kingdom) where Allah (AJ) describe, ‘8 will hold the 1 king. 8 will hold the throne of 1 king.’ It means this is from the reality of the sultanate of Allah’s (AJ) heavens.
69:17 – “Wal Malaku ‘ala arjayeha, wa yahmilu ‘Arsha Rabbika fawqahum yawmaidhin thamaniyatun.” (Surat Haqqah)
“And the angels/ will be on its sides, and eight will, that Day, bear the Throne of thy Lord above them.” (The Reality, 69:17)
So, it means that that 9 on the second month has to do with the reality of 18. Then we look at the 18th name of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ from Dalail ul Khairat (book of praising on Prophet ﷺ) is Rasul ur Rahmah (The Messenger of Mercy). It means that Prophet ﷺ is the key for every name of Allah (AJ). 18th name of Allah (AJ) – Al-Fattah (The Opener). So, it means that when Al–Fattah, The Opener, wants to open the key of Ar-Rahmah, the rahmah of Allah (AJ) has to enter. It means that Prophet’s ﷺ key has to enter so that the opening of rahmah begins to flow.
Awliyaullah are Guiding Based On Heavenly Coordinates
So, it means this month, 18, the opening of rahmah, the opening for rahmah to even flow. Then they say that the 18th surah of Holy Qur’an is Surat Al-Kahf and Ashab ul Kahf (Companions of The Cave). That’s how we understand the guidance of Holy Qur’an; not that you randomly read whatever you want and you get your own understanding. That’s a different level. When Allah (AJ) wants to grant “waliyun murshidun” (authorized spiritual guide) in the same surah (chapter). That, ‘Whom we granted a guidance and a wakeel (representative) from the heavens,’ it means they are guiding based on heavenly co-ordinates, not dunya (material world) co-ordinates.
18:17 – “Wa tarash shamsa idha tala’at tazawaru an kahfihim dhata al yameeni wa idha gharabat taqriduhum dhataash shimali wa hum fee faj watin minhu, Dhalika min ayati Allahi, man yahdillahu fahuwal Muhtadi, wa man yudlil falan tajida lahu waliyyan murshida.” (Surat Al-Kahf)
“And You would have seen the sun, when it rose, declining to the right from their Cave, and when it set, turning away from them to the left, while they lay in the open space in the midst of the Cave. That was from the Signs of Allah: He whom Allah, guides is rightly guided; but he whom Allah leaves to stray, for him you will never find Saintly Guide to the Right Way.” (The Cave, 18:17)
Hijab of Safar: Glory Be to the All-Knowing, the Wise
So, those who follow then, they’ll understand their lives more. If they don’t, then they just feel that there’s all sorts of confusion and difficulty around. So, they say have iman (faith) then all sorts of difficulties, guidance comes to teach you, yes. This cave that Allah (AJ) describes for Ashab ul Kahf (Companions of the Cave), the hijab (veil) in which Allah (AJ) was dressing and is continuously dressing the ruhaniyat (spirituality) of Nurul Muhammadi ﷺ (light of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ). It means these 12 hijabs (veils) were an eternal dress in which Allah (AJ) is making the zikr (chanting) on Nurul Muhammadi ﷺ. This month, Safar, is “Subhanal ’Alimul Hakim”, the one that glory be to Allah (AJ), the All-Knowing and the Wise.
“Subhanal ’Alimul Hakim”
“Glory be to the All-Knowing, the Wise”
Now you have 18. We have the Fattah and the opening of rahmah. You have Ashab ul Kahf and Surat Al-Kahf and also the story of Sayyidina Khidr (as) and Nabi Musa (as) – all the same story. Then telling you the hijab is what? ‘Glory to the one who is going to give you knowledge and wisdom.’ So, it means that in this month, knowledge and wisdom is bestowed and the hijab is haybah (majestic power). It’s a majestic hijab and therefore, it creates every type of difficulty. Any type of Divine Majesty when it begins to tanzeela and begin to emanate towards creation, by its nature, it will correct everything wrong; hence, people’s difficulties in life.
Only Allah (AJ) Gives You Any Title of Importance
We said many times that if our life is like crooked, we may think we’re great. You may say that, ‘Oh, we have the purest heart and best of intentions.’ Allah (AJ) makes you as something little bit crooked. It’s not about you evaluating yourself and you giving your title or me giving my title. It’s about Allah (AJ) giving us the title. There is nobody on Earth who can give us a title of any value because Allah (AJ) gives the title. So, it means everything like this. This haybah (majestic power) comes to fix it. So, this hijab of haybah is coming and then begin to guide. Look if you want. We are all stamped with 18 and 8 and 1. Your right hand is 18.
Your right hand has a 1 and an 8 and Al-Fattah ur Rahmah (The Opener of Mercy) on your right hand. That, ‘Ya Rabbi, that I’m stepping into this month of Safar, Subhana man huwa ’Alimul Hakim. The one whom is, glory be to Him who bestows all knowledges and hikmah and wisdom. That Fattah ur Rahmah, open this rahmah and this mercy for me.’ There is a secret number in your right hand. Why you are stamped with 1 and 8? Why is this? The right hand has barakah and power and blessings.
Run from the Kingdom of Shaitan towards Rahman
Then they direct us towards Holy Qur’an and what Allah (AJ) describes in Holy Qur’an for Ashab ul Kahf? That they were youths, young people whom they worked for a king and all from very wealthy, big backgrounds. The king decided to come against all deen and religion and oppose upon them a zulumat (oppression).
That king today is shaitan and what he is trying to do with the Earth? Every wicked king in Qur’an is a symbol of shaitan for our modern day for us to understand how do you bring this to right now. Right now, the shaitanic kingdom wants to overtake everyone. So, what Allah (AJ) told the youth? ‘Run to the cave. Run to the cave. Run to this cave. Perchance, I will shower you with My rahmah.’
(Surat Al-Kahf)
“When ye turn away from them and the things they worship other than Allah, betake yourselves to the Cave: Your Lord will shower His mercies on you and disposes of your affair towards comfort and ease.” (The Cave, 18:16)
Oh rahmah, Al-Fattah ur Rahmah. So, then awliya (saints) come into our lives that this is the cave and the heart of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. The cave in which Prophet ﷺ took Sayyidina Abu Bakr (as) to the cave and dress from its realities, bless from its realities. Everything is a symbol of a much greater reality that Allah (AJ) want us run, run to the cave.
Attach Yourself to Awliyaullah and the Love of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ
In your life, you are not going to survive with shaitan (satan). There is no mountain that you can go higher than these awliya (saints) because Nabi Nuh’s (as) son said the same thing, ‘Oh baba, don’t worry. I am not getting on your ship. I’ll get my own ship. I’ll run to a higher mountain.’ Then Allah (AJ) drowned him. There is no higher mountain. When awliyaullah (saints) are dispatched, they’re guiding to this mercy and this rahmah (mercy).
That Allah (AJ) want to bestow His rahmah, want us to be taught that go with them to the cave. It means attach yourself to them. They are moving into the heart of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ and they begin to teach you: you better love Prophet ﷺ more than you love yourself.
Wa ‘an ‘Umar (as) qala: “Fawajadtu nafsi aqoolo: Wallahi ya Rasulullahi, inni uhibbuka!
Faqala lahu anNabiyu ﷺ: “Akthara min ahlika ya ‘Umar?” Qultu: Na’am. Qala ﷺ: “Akthara min malika ya ‘Umar?”, Qultu: Na’am. Qala ﷺ: “Akthara min nafsika ya ‘Umar?”, Qala: La.
Faqala anNabiyu ﷺ: “La ya ‘Umar, la yakmulu imanoka hatta akuna ahabba ilayka min nafsika.”
Yaqoolo ‘Umar (as): Fakhrajtu fafakkartu. [Sahih al-Bukhari, al-Majladu al-Rabi’o, raqm al-hadith 594]
Narrated by Sayyidina ‘Umar (as) that he said: “I found myself saying, ‘By Allah, O Messenger of Allah, I love you!’ The Prophet (pbuh) said to him, ‘Is it more than your love for your family, O ‘Umar?’ I said, ‘Yes.’ He (pbuh) said, ‘Is it more than your love for your wealth, O ‘Umar?’ I said, ‘Yes.’ He said, ‘Is it more than your love for yourself, O ‘Umar?’ He said, ‘No.’
The Prophet (pbuh), said, ‘No, O ‘Umar, your faith will not be complete until I become more beloved to you than your own self.’ Sayyidina ‘Umar (as) said: So I went out and thought. Then I returned and shouted, ‘By Allah, O Messenger of Allah, you are more beloved to me than myself.’ The Prophet (pbuh) said, ‘Now, O ‘Umar, now [you got it].’ [Sahih al-Bukhari, Volume 4, Hadith #594]
Through how? Through your salawats (praises upon Prophet Muhammad ﷺ), through your mawlids (celebration of the birthday of Prophet ﷺ), through your nasheeds (songs of praise). That, Ya Rabbi – “Qul in kuntum tuhibbon Allaha fattabi’uni, yuhbibkumullah”. You want Allah (AJ)’s love? No way to get Allah’s (AJ) love. First follow the love and the example of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ then Allah (AJ) bestows His love.
3:31 – “Qul in kuntum tuhibbon Allaha fattabi’uni, yuhbibkumullahu wa yaghfir lakum dhunobakum wallahu Ghaforur Raheem.” (Surat Ali ‘Imran)
“Say, [O Muhammad], “If you should love Allah (AJ), then follow me, [so] Allah (AJ) will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allah (AJ) is Forgiving and Merciful.” (Family of Imran, 3:31)
7 Sleepers of the Cave and the 7 Wazirs of Sayyidina Mahdi (as)
So, they taught everyone: run to the cave. ‘Ya Rabbi, I am asking to go to this cave of safety. I am asking to be with those whom are in the cave.’ They are Ashab ul Kahf; not 8 only, not 7 and the 1 and they have the names of the Ashab ul Kahf but those are placeholders for a much deeper reality.
There are seven wazirs (representatives) of Sayyidina Mahdi (as) on this Earth right now and Sayyidina Mahdi (as) and the qudra (power) that he represents the guardian of the cave of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. The sleepers, they have given their being to that reality and they don’t move and breathe from their own inspiration but what from Allah (AJ) wants from them (Holy Qur’an, 18:17). So, it means they are from the highest level of realities. They exist upon this Earth to bring people back to that cave and to spread the teachings of that reality, the Muhammadan heart.
Take a Path of Humility Like Qitmir
So, then Allah (AJ) is giving for us then run to that cave. Run to this reality. Be dressed from this reality and then they say, ‘Oh, this is a heavy month because you are not going to be from Ashab ul Kahf.’ It’s not about everybody thinking that they’re Ashab ul Kahf.’ Oh, I’m Ashab ul Kahf. Maybe I should try to be from Ashab ul Kahf but Allah (AJ) wants humility.’
So, do you remember the story of the Ashab ul Kahf? They had a dog, Qitmir, and Allah (AJ) – we repeat every year, this reality because every year we forget the reality at the beginning of Safar…yeah. Allah (AJ) gives the example that the Qitmir was following Ashab ul Kahf and following them because he is inspired to follow these sleepers and their life was to throw rocks at him. They threw rocks and threw rocks and threw rocks… ‘Go away. Give us away. Maybe you are going to eat us when we go for our Lord and our seclusion or whatever service Allah (AJ) wants for us.’
Students are Tested to Tame the Wild Dog Within Them
The two roles now become distinguished. It’s that Ashab ul Kahf and the people of the cave, trained by the cave, they must test those students because in actuality the student is a wild dog. If you give a condition, you don’t know when he is going to bite, when he is going to attack, how he is going to attack you. They can’t keep that. They can’t keep that condition. They’ll eat the Ashab ul Kahf.
If you get a little bit of power, you’ll eat that person and attack them. So, what Allah (AJ) with the dog, keep throwing rocks, keep throwing rocks, keep throwing rocks. It means our life was testing. Our life is extreme testing. Continuously, they threw rocks. Continuously, they threw insults. Continuously, they humiliated us in public, in private, at events. There was never a time of ease and we never let go and we never stopped in our destination.
Allah (AJ) Tests Your Condition to Raise You
Then what Allah (AJ) after they threw their rocks, threw their rocks, threw the rocks? Allah (AJ) gave a tongue to the dog in which the dog stood up, and said, ‘No matter how much you throw, I am not stopping. But perchance, you find me to be of service to you while you serve your Lord.’
He ended up being the guardian of the cave and a najes (dirty) creature that not widely respected in Islamic culture, considered to be dirty, became a guardian for those very holy souls. How he became a guardian was by emtehan and testing. Allah (AJ) wanted to show is this person wahshi, wild, or is this person tamed? How would anyone know what they really are until Allah (AJ) throws rocks at you? They come in every direction and they don’t come friendly. They come with every type of word, every type of insult, every type of condition to see what condition are you in? What condition are you in because Allah (AJ) wants to give a raise. Allah (AJ) wants to give payday.
Move From a Wild Dog to a Guardian of the Companions of the Cave
Say, ‘I want to grant that servant a station,’ and He gives the station. It is such an easy because they say, ‘Oh Shaykh, these maqams you talk are high’. Say, ‘No, what could be lower than the maqam of a dog?’ So, it’s easy. Allah (AJ) is not making it high that you have to be like Nabi Musa (as). No, He says that, ‘No, I’ll make some it for something that you consider to be dirty and I granted him haybah (majestic power).’ It was enough for Qitmir to sit at the cave and Allah (AJ) describe anybody who walked was in fear.
(Surat Al-Kahf)
“And you would think/deem them awake, while they were asleep. And We turned them to the right and to the left sides; while their dog stretched his forelegs at the entrance/threshold. If you had looked at them, you would have turned back from them in flight and would have been filled with terror of them.” (The Cave, 18:18)
They didn’t even have to see Ashab ul Kahf to be scared. They saw him and that was enough. Imagine if he scared them, what Ashab ul Kahf will do to you and it gives us all hope. That, ‘Ya Rabbi, I want to come to Your realities.’ Then Allah (AJ) take your emtehan, take your testing, take all this type of difficulty so that Allah (AJ) – it’s not about ‘Him and her. I am going to set them right. Let me give him an answer and I give it back to him really good.’
Stay Quiet in the Face of Every Difficulty
You’re a servant of Allah (AJ). Allah (AJ) wants to see how much abuse are you capable of taking; not from the internet. People are physically abusing each other and say, ‘Oh Shaykh, is telling me to stay quiet.’ No! Every time, you don’t have to answer with your mouth back. Somebody is insulting you with your mouth, stay quiet. You’re not going to change anything. Stay quiet. Walk away. Cut off. Have nothing to do with it.
Say Allah (AJ) is the best of those who guard me. “Wa ufawwidu amri ilAllah, innAllaha basirun bil ‘ibad.”
“Wa ufawwidu amri ilAllah, innAllaha basirun bil ‘ibad.”
“I entrust my affair unto Allah (AJ). Truly, Allah (AJ) is aware of His servants.”
Ya Rabbi, verily You see my condition. Al Muntaqim (The Avenger). It is written in the Burdah Sharif (Poem of the Cloak). They don’t understand even the understanding of Burdah Sharif. When they’re saying Al-Muntaqim, that only one who can avenge me is Allah (AJ).
Wa lan yadiqa RasulAllahi jahuka bi
Idhal karimu tajalla bismi muntaqimi
And O Messenger of Allah (AJ), your exalted status will not diminish,
From your intercession for me, when the Most Bountiful manifests with the Name of Avenger
Allah (AJ) Avenges the Servant from Shaitan
If Allah (AJ) want to guard you, then He has to begin to avenge you from shaitan. ‘Ya Rabbi, Shaitan is bothering me too much. Ya Rabbi, You are my guardian. You are my wakeel (representative). You are my wali (saint). You are the one who is going to send Your angels to burn the shaitan who is bothering me.’
So, it means then what you’re going to change in this life? Stay quiet, stay quiet in your testing. You want or you don’t want in your soul something, you don’t know even your soul is asking for it, but your body said, ‘I don’t ever want it. I never wanted this maqam (station).’ But Allah (AJ) wanted it for you so then they teach: if you are watching, you are a rare type of person to be watching. This is not general teaching. Most of general masjid people, they tune in and they say, ‘These people are crazy’ and they tune right out. It was not meant for them. This is a level, different level, entirely of realities.
Worry About Your Own Grave and Testing
So, that they can say that this emtehan and testing in your life – if you don’t pass it, don’t worry. They’ll be patient. They’ll sit with you 30 years, 40 years will go through the whole thing over and over and over. They don’t care. It’s whatever Allah (AJ) wants. But at some point, you wake up and say, ‘No, I’m being tested. It’s not about him and her and me replying to people. It’s about Allah (AJ) wants something from me. I am only worried about my grave. I am not going to change anybody else’s grave or condition.’
You’re not a guide. So, as an individual, my grave – Allah (AJ) wants something. He wants to give me a degree. I am to remain silent and pass my test with good character so that Allah (AJ) say, ‘Now you can be a guardian for Ashab ul Kahf because if We guide you to these representatives of these seven realities, of these seven realities of which they carry upon Earth, you won’t bite them. You won’t eat them. You won’t attack them because you are been trained.’
Our Journey is to Seek Understanding From Our Testing
When you are trained – no matter how much they’re testing – they remain silent and they don’t propagate hate. They don’t attack back and that’s the reality of Al-Fattah ur Rahmah (The Opened of Mercy). When Allah (AJ) says ‘Go into My cave,’ if they are truly coming to the heart of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ and they understand ya Sayyidi ya Rasulul Kareem (The Most Generous Messenger), these awliyaullah (saints) whom you love, they are the reflection of your heart coming out.
How could I dare say anything? Better for me to remain silent and silent until enough difficulty comes and Prophet ﷺ intercedes and says, ‘It’s enough. The servant is enough.’ They understood – he/she understood – and that najat (salvation) begins to come the servant where Allah (AJ) finds a rida and satisfaction. That, ‘We have tested you like We tested those before you, with your life, with your wealth, with your family, with your possessions. We tested you with everything like those who came before.’
“And We will surely test you until We make evident those who strive among you [for the cause of Allah (AJ) ] and the patient, and We will test your affairs.” (Muhammad, 47:31)
There are No Shortcuts On a Heavenly Path
Because Allah (AJ) said, ‘Did you think you were going to get somewhere with no testing?’ where you can come and say, ‘Oh Shaykh, I don’t want to be tested.’ Oh, this really nice. You can be like those people on the news who they didn’t want to have grades to go to Harvard. They wanted to pay for Harvard and they got in jail by doing that. They say, ‘Oh, my kid is retarded, doesn’t have the grades to go. I am going to get $500,000 to get into the school.’ What would that have done inside the school? He couldn’t read and write and $500,000 is going to resolve anything.
It’s cheating. Then Allah (AJ) what? Throw him in jail. If you’re going to cheat in dunya (material world), are you going to cheat Allah (AJ)? Say, ‘I don’t want testing. I don’t want…’ No, you are going to have testing. If Allah (AJ) want to give a degree, he is expecting the characteristics.
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is the Rahmah of Allah (AJ)
We pray that Allah (AJ) open for us more and more understanding. These are holy months. These are months dressed with immense haybah (majestic power), immense lights, immense blessings for Allah (AJ) to open our rahmah. It means that the light and the love of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. What is Allah’s (AJ) rahmah? “Wa maa arsalnaka illa Rahmatal lil’alameen.”
21:107 – “Wa maa arsalnaka illa Rahmatal lil’alameen.” (Surat Al-Anbiya)
“And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad (pbuh)], except as a mercy to the worlds/creation.” (The Prophets, 21:107)
That Prophet ﷺ is Allah’s (AJ) rahmah and the light of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ begin to emanate within the entire heart and soul of that being. There is nothing, nothing not worth reaching that. There is nothing on this Earth that would be dearer or greater than to reach that goal. If we remind ourselves, then every time the test gets difficult, put a piece of wood and bite down. Have you seen those people? In old times, they had no anesthesia for surgery. As soon as someone wants to do something difficult, they just bite down. So, just remain quiet, bite down, haq (truth) until Allah (AJ) grant a najat (salvation).
