Never Despair! Reflect, Respond to the Signs and Return Q&A
From the Realities of Mawlana (Q) as taught by Shaykh Nurjan Mirahmadi
أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ ٱلْرَّجِيمِ
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
A’uzu Billahi Minash Shaitanir Rajeem
Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem
I seek refuge in Allah (AJ) from the accursed Satan
In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful
Alhamdulillahi Rabbil ‘aalameen, was salaatu was salaamu ‘alaa Ashrafil Mursaleen, Sayyidina wa Mawlana Muhammadul Mustafa ﷺ.
Always a reminder for myself, ana abdukal ‘ajeez, wa dayeef, wa miskin, wa zhalim, wa jahl, and but for the grace of Allah (AJ) that we’re still in existence.
أَطِيعُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُوا الرَّسُولَ وَأُولِي الْأَمْرِ مِنكُم… ﴿٥٩﴾ …
4:59 – “…Atiullaha wa atiur Rasula wa Ulil amre minkum…” (Surat an-Nisa)
“…Obey Allah, obey the Messenger, and those in authority among you…” (The Women, 4:59)
Question 1: Sayyidi, if someone had tasted this abundant water but left tariqah (spiritual path), is it hard to come back?
Shaykh Nurjan Mirahmadi: That’s not a judgment for me. Allah (AJ) is the Creator and He judges His servants.
All that we can say is what Sayyidina Jalaluddin (Q) said: ‘Come, come, come, even you broke your vow a thousand times, come back again.’ Leave for Allah’s (AJ) rahmah (mercy) to determine how He is going to deal with His servants. Our job is to keep running back to Allah (AJ), asking for forgiveness. We know that Rasulul Kareem (The Most Generous Messenger) means the immense love of Prophet ﷺ will give the rahmah according to the necessity of the servant. So, don’t ever despair in the mercy of Allah’s (AJ) rahmah and mercy. Try to repair what damage was done, what bad characters were done. Be charitable, and try to keep noble character, and maybe this time around, we try to do it better, inshaAllah.
Question 2: Shaykh, how do we know when our actions are pleasing to Allah (AJ) but not pleasing to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ nor the Shaykh?
Shaykh Nurjan Mirahmadi: Meditation. You have to buy three books [A Timeless Reality] because of that question. So our life is the how, how could you know something pleasing to Allah (AJ) when you talk too much about Allah (AJ) and you didn’t think about what was Prophet ﷺ? So, these external scholars, they talk a lot about Allah (AJ), but you don’t ever hear about Prophet ﷺ. Why? Why are they claiming to know Allah (AJ) when they don’t know themselves? “’Arafa nafsahu, ‘arafa Rabbahu.”
قَال رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ:” مَنْ عَرَفَ نَفْسَهْ فَقَدْ عَرَفَ رَبَّهُ”
Qala Rasulullahi ﷺ: “Man ‘arafa nafsahu faqad ‘arafa Rabbahu”
The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said: “Who knows himself, knows his Lord.”
If you don’t even know yourself, how are you going to talk about Allah (AJ)? So, it means our life is about contemplation. I have to first know myself. When I sit and I know myself, I begin to meditate. I’m trying to connect to the heart of my shaykh. How am I going to know Allah (AJ) and Prophet ﷺ, my shaykh is right in front of me and I don’t know anything? How he talks, how he gives advice, how his mercy and his character? How he teaches on this subject, that subject? Then you want to quote Allah (AJ).
How are you quoting Allah (AJ) when you don’t even understand the words of the shaykh who is right in front of you? First, be patient. That’s why Sayyidina Khidr (as) is the example in Qur’an of tariqah The one who talks to Allah (AJ) [Sayyidina Musa (as)], he says, ‘You’re not going to be able to follow us.’ Sayyidina Khidr (as) is my Shaykh. He is 11th Shaykh of the Naqshbandi order. He is saying to Kalimullah (the one who speaks to Allah (AJ)), forget about students out there. He is talking to the great prophets (as) of Allah (AJ), ‘You’re not going to have patience with me. How can you have patience on a subject that you know very little about?’
18:67-68 – “Qala innaka lan tastatee’a ma’iya sabra. (67) Wa kayfa tasbiru ‘ala ma lam tuhit bihi khubra. (68)” (Surat Al-Kahf)
“(The Other) said, Verily you will not be able to have patience with me! (67) And how can you have patience for what you do not encompass in knowledge? (68)” (The Cave, 18:67-68)
The one who talks to Allah (AJ)? Because he is teaching the tariqah ways that don’t talk about Allah (AJ) right now. You see if you can follow these teachings and listen to what’s being spoken to you and your heart to absorb it. If your heart is not absorbing and your brain is challenging the shaykh, you’re not a student of the way. You go somewhere else. I’ve seen it in our lives. We would sit with Mawlana (Q) and they would sit with these people Ahlul Hadith who study, study, study. They couldn’t sit 5 minutes with Mawlana (Q) because every word he would say they had a Hadith that would give this, this, this, and challenge everything.
Allah (AJ) said in Qur’an that, ‘Remain silent until I give you permission to speak.’ Had you remained silent and kept good character, you would have been given the wisdom of the Hadith. That Prophet ﷺ would explain within your heart the hikmah and the wisdom of what the shaykh is saying. Because the shaykh speaks from a live conduit to the connection of Prophet ﷺ. Outward people speak from a page with artificial ink upon it. So, it is very different, very different but requires patience. That’s why not too many scholarly types will sit with shaykhs, and this is a history of shaykh, big shaykhs. When the scholars would come, they would upset. They would say something in the majlis (association) and walk out. Because the ability of a little bit of dunya (material world) knowledge, their ‘uloom (knowledge) is like a drop.
When you talk about malakut (heavenly realm), it is a vast eternal ocean. If you talk about external shari’ah (Divine law), it is a drop, this big [shaykh mentions the small size of shari’ah knowledge] compared to the vastness of malakut. So it is not something even comparable. So with what little you know, you try to compare it to the vastness of their ocean. There is no way you will sit with them, no way you will sit with them. Only the patient will sit and understand the hikmah. As we described in many, many different, many, many different understandings. That’s why the Qur’an that we teach is a completely different understanding for people. They read the same word, but they also read those translations. If you look at that verse, its translations are horrific. Remember, the translation is that person’s tafsir (interpretation) of the verse. When I’m teaching, this is ours shaykh’s tafsir of the verse. So that person who made that tafsir is nowhere comparable to these awliya and to the inspirations that are coming from headquarters live, inshaAllah.
Question 3: Sayyidi, how do we catch the signs? Any hints to do so? How do we know shaitan (satan) is playing with us?
Shaykh Nurjan Mirahmadi: Meditate, meditate. You have to read the books, you have to do the practices. This ‘how to’ is not acceptable questions. You have to meditate. ‘How to, how to’ means you didn’t read the book. As soon as you ask a question like that, it means you’re not reading the books and you just logged on to ask this question.
Everything is based on tafakkur (contemplation). That’s why this whole science, it is like taking a math class that becomes like algebra and then there is this complicated formulas. You come and say what’s this ‘x?’ The ‘x’ is a part of the entire formula. So means these subjects and these matters we’re talking about, they’re all based on tafakkur, contemplation, meditation. ‘Who knows himself will know his Lord.’
قَال رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ:” مَنْ عَرَفَ نَفْسَهْ فَقَدْ عَرَفَ رَبَّهُ”
Qala Rasulullahi ﷺ: “Man ‘arafa nafsahu faqad ‘arafa Rabbahu”
The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said: “Who knows himself, knows his Lord.”
That answered everyone’s questions. ‘How you, how you, how?’ Sit and meditate. Every action you did that night is muhasabah (accounting). What did you do? Who did you anger? Who did you bother? Look to the bad things first. Be honest. ‘I yelled, I cheated, did this, I steal, I did this, this, this.’ All of those angered Allah (AJ), Prophet ﷺ, and the Ulul Amr (saints). Then try to find something good you did and then say, who is it really good for? Though it made Allah (AJ) happy, maybe I misquoted a Hadith that didn’t make Prophet ﷺ happy. You made a mistake in that.
So all of this in our lives, we begin to take a muhasabah. That I dealt with people softly, that made Allah (AJ) happy, that made Prophet ﷺ, that made my shaykh happy. I dealt with somebody hard. I told them what I thought from the verse of the Qur’an – that doesn’t make Prophet ﷺ happy, and it doesn’t, definitely doesn’t make the shaykhs happy. Because they taught with softness. How you went and taught people with hardness, insulted your children, insulted the family, insulted everybody? So, no. This is the example.
Every night we take an accounting of ourselves. After a few nights, you become more conscious the next day and you try to speak less, you try to give less fuel to the bad. Then, we said before the night is finish, before Maghrib (evening prayer), give sadaqah (charity). So that your account is always positive because you know, ‘Oh I think I did a few things wrong,’ I give sadaqah. Each action of sadaqah is ten times in hasanat (goodness). So this is a great reward, a great gift, a great equalizer that Allah (AJ) gives to us, inshaAllah.
Question 4: Is there a way for students to make up for all the signs they have missed on the path and move forward?
Shaykh Nurjan Mirahmadi: Yeah, they meditate at any time. Anytime you meditate, the consciousness will try to pick up signs and then to go forward and see what are the signs now. Because the past, you can’t change. It is only the future that’s important. So going forward, I’m going to be more conscious of the signs in my life and the choices that I make. Until that I’m in the service of the shaykh. That’s what I want to reach is to that khidmat and service. Then, my life is of service. There is nothing you have to do other than be of service and make all the correct choices. Good choices, the more positive choices in life, inshaAllah.
Question 5: Can you please speak a little bit on the importance of Nifs e Sha’ban (Mid Sha’ban), our destiny, and this important night?
Shaykh Nurjan Mirahmadi: Yeah, inshaAllah tomorrow night we try to talk about it as we draw closer to that reality, inshaAllah.
Question 6: Regarding last week’s suhbah (discourse), you spoke about many deep realities on the masjid. Sayyidi, what can we do if we struggle with the basic salah (daily prayer)?
Shaykh Nurjan Mirahmadi: Yeah, we went from the realities of the masjid to the reality of basic salah is to meditate. To do tafakkur, do your contemplation.
We described now in the last few weeks many times that if there is a deficiency in salah, you’re not meditating. If you have waswas (whispering) coming, waswas coming to you in your salah, you’re not doing your salah right. Because if you’re in tafakkur and the contemplation of the shaykh, the dress of your shaykh, how is shaitan coming and whispering and playing in your ears? So, you’re not doing your meditation right. You’re still present. If you’re present, your shaitan is with you, and your nafs (ego) and the whole path was to annihilate. I’m in the madad (support) of my shaykh, madad of my shaykh. I practiced it so much. As soon as I get for salah, Ya Rabbi I’m nothing. I’m nothing asking for the madad of my shaykh. Then you call azaan (call to prayer), get ready, and you go into your madad that you’re like a dot in the jubba (robe) and let the shaykh do the salah. Once you master that, then it should be very powerful, your salah, inshaAllah.
Question 7: Sayyidi, sometimes I have a craving to talk about what we learn from these realities, but there is no one to talk to. So, we talk to imaginary people in our head. Is this bad?
Shaykh Nurjan Mirahmadi: As long as imaginary people don’t talk back to you. It is one thing to talk to God, but it is another if God talks to you. Something is going wrong, so yeah. So you can talk all you want to yourself. Hopefully you don’t get to a point where the voices come back and start talking to you. But the khidmat (service), the khidmat is the most important.
So, this is the desire to propagate knowledge. Then take from the AI [Shaykh.ai], so you’re not making up your own things, verify. The AI is not good in huroof (Arabic letters). So a couple of times, they put out huroof, it wasn’t for my teaching, so it was making up some stuff. So, be careful about AI and huroof, until our people fix it and perfect it. But when you type in a subject that’s interesting for you and the answer you read it, verify it. Because everything in our lives is, ‘Verify it.’ As soon as you verify it, you go out, put it out. Use either somebody else’s AI image that they’ve made, or if you know how to do that, you do that. Then you begin to propagate knowledges. If everything is done correctly, we share them. So, the people read them.
Huge amount of content coming out. So, before it had to be only my article then they would have to fix these articles. Then these articles would be sent out once, maybe in a month. Now, daily, 10 to 15 to 20 posts we share with all different graphics. Well, this is a tremendous amount of content. You know they say most people can’t even produce three things for posting, three posts a day. We’re probably to 20 different posts and on all different platforms. Our people on all different platforms on their own accounts posting. So, this is a great service we said before, because these are Muhammadan haqqaiqs. Anyone it touches, it is going to affect them. It is like being hit with a paint gun. You know, nice green paint gun, you shoot the guy in the face, he is going to have green paint all over him. There is no way he can hide it or no way he can avoid it.
So, the one who doesn’t have knowledge, he’ll be affected by how he has been painted by this image, by this article. The one who does have knowledge also will be inspired within their heart, ‘Maybe I should talk a little bit more about this subject.’ So we just keep going and firing these realities, and leave for Allah (AJ) whom He inspires with it and whom He guides with it and directs with it. So alhamdulillah, and it gives our life a purpose. Our life is to serve and to spread the love of Prophet ﷺ with good manners and good character, inshaAllah. So that they’re happy, Allah (AJ) is happy, Prophet ﷺ happy, and that we fulfilled our obligations to the tariqah to live a life of service and khidmat.
Then you don’t have to keep asking yourself, what am I doing wrong? If you’re doing your service, then you’re doing your service. The wrong is then very obvious wrongs when you yell, when you fight, and you do things you know that are wrong. But subtle wrong when you serve, it evaporates. Because you’re serving, your life is serving, your life is serving. The only wrong that the people of khidmat is if they can’t control their anger, their bad character, their desires, then they have to just control those. But the people who don’t serve, they have to keep looking for all the signs. Because the signs most likely are pointing them to serve. Serve with what Allah (AJ) gave to you. If He gave you ability, then use it. If He gave you rizq (sustenance), use it. If He gave you technology, use it. These are the billboards that are passing you in your life, inshaAllah.
Question 8: Sayyidi, can the best grounding only be done on soil or can marble stone floors inside the house also accomplish similar results?
Shaykh Nurjan Mirahmadi: Sure, yeah, as long as it is something natural, no problem. Then the grounding on stone and quartz, I think these are all natural stones and, yeah. You can get a nice carpet from cotton, from linen. The polyester is probably not the best to ground; it is a petroleum product. If you want to ground, you can go outside to your backyard and, you know, barefooted, touch the soil. Ground yourself, go back into your apartment, and you know, that’s the grounding.
You can get the linen and cotton fabric where you’re going to make your sujood (prostration) and pray upon something of a natural and good material. So, maybe we can find knitted things from wool, from linen, and those are much better than the polyester carpets that are being produced. Or you get the traditional carpets from the Middle East are all wool. Our Taufeeq’s carpet store in Kenya. Everything is made from wool. So this just these small sajadahs (praying carpets) from China, they’re all polyester. But everything else, we try to ground on something that is natural and has a very positive energy. Cotton is positive energy, linen is positive energy, and wool is positive energy. When you sit upon them, it is tremendous healing and grounding. Clean soil, inshaAllah, you can ground yourself with clean soil, inshaAllah.
Question 9: Sayyidi, with all these Muslims dying on the other side of this world, did these people lose the love of Prophet ﷺ, or are they just being the ones who are paying for the whole ummah (nation)?
Shaykh Nurjan Mirahmadi: No. I think we’ve talked about great calamities that would come in the advent of Imam Mahdi’s (as) arrival. That regions and areas of the appearance of Sayyidina Mahdi (as) are areas that have to be purified. As a result, many don’t have the physical ability to follow that reality. Their physicality didn’t reach that, and as a result, the physicality goes. But when they go shaheed (martyrs), these are immensely powerful souls. Whether they’re small or big people, the soul is ancient.
So now, I would say hundreds of thousands of ancient souls have been powered now. The area must be immensely powerful in the way of Allah (AJ), and that they’ve given their lights to the allegiance of Sayyidina Mahdi (as). Because this is a heavenly kingdom. When we said the heavenly kingdom is coming, it wasn’t coming like western people think a football game. When heavenly kingdom begins to ascend, many physical bodies will collapse. They did not prepare themselves for the heavenly kingdom.
As a result, when the kingdom comes, everything becomes a nuqt (dot). Very few will actually achieve that nuqt state through their physicality, but it is not necessary anyways. Because all that’s needed is their souls to be of service to Sayyidina Mahdi (as). This is why then in those regions, entire regions, it is not just there. That entire regions have lost millions, from Iraq to Syria to Libya, to all that region. We’ve described many, many times, that don’t think them in the way dead. They’re very much alive.
As shaitan tries to take their lives, he is giving them and crowning them with their sainthood, they’re becoming all shaheed. All more powerful than thousands of men. So this is a dilemma for him. He keep them on the earth, they don’t listen to him. He try to take them off the earth, they become more powerful. That is why we say, all power and might is in Allah’s (AJ) Hands, and everything is in Allah’s (AJ) Will. Alhamdulillah.
We pray that Allah (AJ) keep us with the nation of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ and to be of service to the arrival of Sayyidina Mahdi (as). Through good character, good manners, and teaching people be good. When you know such harm is coming, it is not the time to fight people, backbite people, attack people, throw rocks at people, scream at people. Everything of characters that we have seen, those are not the characters that get any type of benefit. Everything is based on good character, and we pray that Allah (AJ) give us good character, good character, inshaAllah. InshaAllah.
Subhana rabbika rabbal ‘izzati ‘amma yasifoon, wa salaamun ‘alal mursaleen, walhamdulillahi rabbil ‘aalameen. Bi hurmati Muhammad al-Mustafa ﷺ wa bi siri Surat al-Fatiha.
