Laylatul Qadr in the Heart of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ
From the Realities of Mawlana Shaykh (ق) as taught by Shaykh Nurjan Mirahmadi
Audhu Billahi min ash Shaitanir Rajeem
Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem
I seek refuge in Allah from Satan, the rejected one
In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.
Follow the People of the Command Who Have Immense Love and Respect for Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ
They make easy for us the understanding and very simplified way to reach towards realities from the ‘ashiqeen. They are the lovers of the Divinely Presence, lovers of the prophets, lovers of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ.
“Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem. Atiullaha, wa atiur Rasula, wa Ulil amre minkum.”
(Surat An-Nisa)
“O You who have believed, Obey Allah, Obey the Messenger, and those in authority among you…” (The Women, 4:59)
It means Allah (AJ) asking us to obey Allah (AJ) and gives us a sign of that obedience is the obedience of the prophets, is to obey the prophets, to live a life of love and respect and trying our best to follow in their example and in their way. Then Allah (AJ) gives us a hint that for that reality, then ulul amr, the people of the amr (command).
Laylatul Qadr is the Night in Which Allah (AJ) Revealed Holy Qur’an to Prophet ﷺ
In holy night of Laylatul Qadr (Night of Power), Allah (AJ) is describing every amr (command) is now moving through that reality. Every divinely decree is moving, where ‘malaika wa ruh’ are sending out those amr, those orders. But they want us to think from the people of reality. We said before, Laylatul Qadr being the night in which Allah (AJ) revealed to Prophet ﷺ Holy Qur’an. It means then where did He reveal Holy Qur’an to? To the heart of Prophet ﷺ.
97:4 – “Tanazzalul malaikatu war Roh, fiha beizne Rabbihim min kulle amr.” (Surat Al-Qadr)
“The angels and the Spirit descend therein by permission of their Lord for every Command/affair.” (The Power 97:4)
That Which is Timeless is for Our Souls
From the people of haqqaiq (realities), they begin to always teach us and every aspect: leave the physicality. It means that what was revealed to the physical nature and the physical being of Prophet ﷺ is one, one thing, one understanding. More important that what Allah (AJ) reveals to the heart – not the physical heart – it’s the heart of his soul (alaihis salatus salam). That which is eternal received that message.
Allah (AJ) has no time. So, it’s a basic science for us that Allah (AJ) has no time. When we’re trying to understand that which is timeless. We’re not trying to understand the time dimension. That’s many tafsirs (interpretations) are based on time. Prophet ﷺ meant this. Prophet ﷺ related this and based on what happened and the history, that doesn’t matter. That’s one understanding, one knowledge. But that which is timeless is relevant eternally because timelessness is for the soul. That which has no time is for the soul and the ‘arifeen (knowers). The people who are asking to be the knowers of reality, they want that which has no time, ‘Ya Rabbi, I don’t want to have a course in history. I want to know how this affects me now. What is the timeless reality?’
Every Existence is Based on Sound That Becomes an Energy
They begin to teach then the timeless reality for the revelation of Holy Qur’an because you have to go back to understand that Holy Qur’an encompasses all holy books, encompasses all realities. It is the source of all power. Divine speech is the source of all power. That speech is a sound and Allah (AJ) said in Bible, ‘First was the Word of God.’ Fatiha, the beginning of Qur’an, Surat al-Hamd, the Word of God.
Everything is based on sound. Every existence is coming from sound. Allah (AJ) makes a sound. That sound becomes an energy. That energy becomes a manifestation, becomes a light. From its atomic light reality, it begins to manifest into its molecular structure and into its form. That’s why you’ll see the form of creation. Then you come closer towards the source. You won’t see the form but there is a subtle reality existing from that sound. Malaika are an energy, angel energy. They have no form. You can’t see the form, but there’s an energy because they are closer now to the source.
Zikrullah is a Resonance of Sound Emanating From the Divinely Presence
Then even closer to the Divinely Presence is the hamd (praise), is the sound emanating from Divinely Presence. That is the understanding of Holy Qur’an. Allah’s (AJ) Divinely speech that is emanating is a sound for the entire universe. That sound is what keeps everything in the universe in existence. They said, ‘No’. Every atom has a molecular structure. Everything is by resonance. Resonance is a zikr, “Yusabbihu bi hamdi”. Allah’s (AJ) making a sound and everything is in existence by that sound.
17:44 – “Tusabbihu lahus samawatus sab’u wal ardu wa man fee hinna wa in min shayin illa yusabbihu bihamdihi wa lakin la tafqahoona tasbeehahum innahu kana haleeman ghafoora.” (Surat Al-Isra)
“The seven heavens and the earth and whatever is in them exalt [praises] Him. And there is not a thing except that it exalts [Allah] by His praise, but you do not understand their [way of] exalting. Indeed, He is ever Forbearing and Forgiving.” (The Night Journey 17:44)
We Won’t Ever Reach to Allah (AJ) Directly
So, now we want timeless realities, ‘Ya Rabbi, where is that sound coming from?’ It can’t be from everywhere because then we wouldn’t understand. That’s not tawhid (oneness). Allah (AJ) teaching us everything comes back to the reality of La ilaha illallah Muhammadun RasulAllah ﷺ.
“La ilaha illallahu Muhammadun Rasulallah ﷺ”
“There is no deity but Allah, Prophet Muhammad is the messenger of Allah”
What we are in search of is the reality of, ‘Where is La ilaha illallah, ya Rabbi? Where is that energy of La ilaha illallah coming from?’ Allah (AJ) teaching, Prophet ﷺ teaching, Imam Ali (as) teaching, all awliyaullah (saints) teaching is that you’ll never reach to Allah (AJ). It’s impossible, la sharik. Allah (AJ) not going to let you be a partner with His space. You can’t reach to somewhere where God is in front of you. Then you’d be breathing God’s air and God doesn’t breathe. You’d be sharing a space with the Divinely Presence and God has no partnership, no sharik, nothing like unto the Divinely Presence.
Muhamd Means the Most Praised One
So, the Divinely Presence begins to teach, ‘You are from the ocean of creation and I am the Creator. You have nothing like Me. You can never understand Me. You can never be like Me. You can never be near Me. But you busy yourself with the ocean of creation.’ So, it means then directing us to the ocean of Muhammad ﷺ. Muhamd means the most praised of Allah (AJ) because everything based on the sound.
Don’t think of an Arab who came in the middle of the desert and say, ‘Oh, I have to follow this Arab.’ No, no, no, that’s the form in which Allah (AJ) gave us to understand. But beyond the form, Allah (AJ) teaching that, ‘This holy soul is the soul of praise. It is the reality of My divinely praise. Its existence is to praise and I praise its reality.’ Allah (AJ) keeps the praise of Muhammad ﷺ praising because “InnAllaha wa malayikatahu yusalluna ‘alan Nabiyi.”
33:56 – “InnAllaha wa malayikatahu yusalluna ‘alan Nabiyi yaa ayyuhal ladhina aamanu sallu ‘alayhi wa sallimu taslima.” (Surat Al-Ahzab)
“Allah and His angels send blessings upon the Prophet [Muhammad ﷺ]: O you that believe! Send your blessings upon him, and salute him with all respect.” (The Combined Forces, 33:56)
Allah (AJ) is the Source of Power for Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ
So, it means that ocean of creation that is existing in praise because from praise is sound, comes energy. From energy, comes manifestation. So has to be from tawhid (oneness). It’s coming from La ilaha illallah to Muhammadun RasulAllah ﷺ. So, the soul of Prophet ﷺ is the soul of praise. That everything is moving through the praise of Prophet ﷺ and Allah (AJ) is praising Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ.
So, Allah’s (AJ) the power. Allah’s (AJ) the source of everything, no doubt, like the sun. That’s why they always give us the example; not worshipping the sun – crazy people on internet will say something different – but the example, the isharah (sign), ‘Look at the sun, Allah (AJ).’ You think the sun has a power? People are amazed by the power of the sun. Who is the source of that power? Allah (AJ).
When Allah (AJ) Gives Power, That Power is Continuous
But He wants us to understand that, ‘When I give something an authority and I give something a power’, like a blessed seed, it keeps giving power, keeps giving power, keeps giving power. That sun nourishes all of our galaxy. Every galaxy has its own sun and they said the entire universe has a central sun called a pistol star, najm ath thaqib. One of Prophet’s ﷺ names is Najm ath Thaqib. At Tariq, Allah (AJ) describes it’s a piercing, knocking out everything. That that reality that we see as a sun is a reality of souls.
86:1-4 – “Was Sama e wat Tariq. (1) Wa ma adraka mat tariq? (2) AnNajmu ath thaqib. (3) In kullu nafsin lamma ‘alayha hafiz. (4)” (Surat At-Tariq)
“By the Sky and the Night-Visitant (therein). (1) And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is? (2) (It is) the Star of piercing brightness [Pistol star]. (3) There is no soul but has a protector over it. (4)” (The Nightcomer, 86:1-4)
Angels are From the Light of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ
When Allah (AJ) says, ‘When I give a soul power, you’re not going to necessarily see Me. But you have to know I am the qudra and the power behind that reality.’ It means that every power, every authority, every amr (command) is moving through the heart of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. Then angels are from what ocean? They are a separate ocean? They’re from the light of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ emanating from the heart of Prophet ﷺ.
The ruh (soul) is from what ocean, different creation? Everything in tawhid (oneness). Otherwise, Allah (AJ) wouldn’t be asking us, ‘You make tawhid. You keep saying ‘La ilaha illallah Muhammadun RasulAllah ﷺ‘. It means that if you want to know me, you must be with Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. You take yourself into that ocean of Muhammadun RasulAllah ﷺ.’ In the heart of Sayyidina Muhammadﷺ is zikrAllah, RasulAllah ﷺ.
Our ‘La Ilaha IllAllah’ is an Imitated One
The ‘Allah’ that you recite on the outside because before we go for ma’rifah (gnosticism), we all say, ‘Allah, Allah, Allah.’ That’s a general ‘Allah’. That’s an ‘Allah’ that emanate throughout creation. That is not from the ‘arifeen and the knowers of reality. That’s why Prophet ﷺ, out of adab (manners) said, ‘You say ‘La ilaha illallah, you go to paradise.’
“Man qaala La ilaha illAllah, dakhalal Jannah.”
“Whoever says ‘La ilaha illAllah’ (There is no God but Allah), enters Paradise.” Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)
That La ilaha illallah is an imitated La ilaha illallah because that La ilaha illallah, when you’re not yet accepting the reality, brings you into oneness. It means leave all others. Leave all other gods. Leave all other understandings. You, you become from oneness. You say ‘La ilaha illallah, la ilaha illallah, la ilaha illallah’.
Muhammadun RasulAllah ﷺ is the Owner of the Divine Reality
So, the zikr from outside the reality, everything should make La ilaha illallah, everything should make La ilaha illallah. As soon as they direct themselves to La ilaha illallah, Allah (AJ), when they’re sincere, directs them to who? The owner of the reality is, ‘Now you follow Muhammadun RasulAllah ﷺ.’ He’s Saheb, he’s the owner of that reality. Allah (AJ) brings us to a circumference where all the circumferences should be saying La ilaha illallah. If not saying La ilaha illallah, you are directing yourself out, mushrikin. You are making a partner with Allah (AJ).
It’s not considered within that circle of reality. You are existing but you’re facing the wrong direction, not facing the light. You face towards darkness. You cannot leave the circumference. Everybody on the circumference. So a mushrik, he is not going somewhere else. He’s just facing that way and everything he does and every action he moves is towards darkness.
Everything is From the Light of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ
As soon as we direct ourselves towards the centre by saying ‘La ilaha illallah, la ilaha illallah, la ilaha illallah’, Allah (AJ) provides an opening into that reality. That, ‘I’m going to bring for you, My Rasul. He’s a radius.’ He connects the circumference into the centre. He wants to take us to the nucleus of power. By saying ‘Muhammadun RasulAllah, Muhammadun RasulAllah,‘ Allah (AJ) now begins to take us in our soul because this is the journey of the soul. The soul goes back into its origin when they’re taking us now into the source of all that power.
So, in the source and in the centre of all that power, all that ocean is a Muhammadan ocean because everything must be Muhammadun RasulAllah; every sound, every form, every creation. It means the Ka’bah is from the light of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. Malaika, Allah (AJ) gives them a meem of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. It’s from the light of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. The heavens are from the light of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ.
Laylatul Qadr Shows Us to Go Back to the Origin of Power
‘Arsh ar Rahman (Throne of the Merciful) from the light of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. Why Allah (AJ) to sit on a chair? Can a chair hold Allah (AJ)? Then the chair must be very powerful. Who’s holding who? It’s impossible! These are for us to understand the chair is a direction of authority where Allah (AJ) says, ‘The king sits upon the chair and I sit upon his heart. That I am the power and the qudra of Prophet ﷺ.’
‘An Wahab ibn Munabbeh, Qala Rasulallahi ﷺ, Qala Allah (AJ): “Maa wasi’anee laa samayee, wa la ardee, laakin wasi’anee qalbi ‘Abdi al Mu’min.” [Hadith al Qudsi, Al Ghazali fi al Ihyaa, wa Ibn ‘Arabi fi al Tarajim, Safha 224]
Narrated by Wahab the son of Munabbeh that the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said that Allah (AJ) said: “Neither My Heavens nor My Earth can contain Me, but the heart of my Believing Servant.” [Holy Hadith, by Imam al-Ghazali in Al Ihya, and by Ibn ‘Arabi in al Tarajib, Page 224]
It means if everything is created from the light of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, then Laylatul Qadr (Night of Power) is teaching us: go back to the origin of that power. Go back to the origin of that holy Qur’an and that authority, not sitting on the circumference waiting for malaika (angels) to dress us, malaika to dress us. Why? Go to where the malaika are coming from, where malaika were making sujud (prostration) and bowing down to the authority of Bani Adam. Why we have to wait for malaika to come and bless us when we can go to the authority, go to the one who, is emanating from his holy heart these realities? He’s Nur Muhammad ﷺ, wa qalb al Muhammad ﷺ, qalb al Qur’an, Surat al Yaseen. Sayyidina YaSeen (alaihis salatus salam) is the authority of that reality.
Prophet ﷺ Returns Ten Praisings to Us When We Praise Him Once
So, then they begin to teach us: make salawat. Make praising. Make the Mawlid an Nabi ﷺ. By doing the salawats and doing the praisings that we do at the beginning of every zikr (Divine remembrance), you’re developing a love for Prophet ﷺ. You may not physically understand because your physicality may be just standing on the circumference saying, ‘I don’t even know what I’m doing there.’ It doesn’t matter. They’re leaving your physicality behind because it’s going in the dirt anyways. But as soon as you make that praising, Prophet ﷺ teaching, ‘As soon as you praise me one time, Allah (AJ) will send your soul to me for ten praisings from my divinely reality.’
Qala Rasulullah ﷺ: “Man Salla `alaiya Salatan wahidatan, Sallallahu `alayhi `ashra Salawatin, wa Huttat `anhu `ashru khaTeatin, wa ruf`at lahu `ashru darajatin.”
Anas ibn Malik narrated that the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said: “Whoever sends blessings [Praises] upon me, God will shower His blessings upon him ten times, and will erase ten of his sins, and elevate [raise] his [spiritual] station ten times.” [Hadith recorded by Nasa’i]
So, the adab (manner) is not Prophet ﷺ coming to you, but Allah (AJ) will open your soul to move into the presence of Prophet ﷺ and receive ten salawats from Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ; ten from a no time dimension. There’s no time. When that ten begins and when that ten ends is in Allah’s (AJ) understanding. There’s no time. We’re timeless travelers, not a time traveler. We’re not an Earthly travelers. We don’t care about the Earth. They’re teaching us from your soul. Just one salawat on Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, your soul is now in the centre of that atom because everything is from one Adam, one atom. The nucleus of that atom is the reality of Prophet ﷺ. The centre of that reality is the qudra (power) of ilahi (My Lord) and Allah’s (AJ) Divinely Power emanating from the heart of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ.
Seclude Yourself During Ramadan to Open the Reality of Your Soul
That is Laylatul Qadr (Night of Power). That is the way of ‘arifeen that they exist within that ocean because you have to reach to that ocean to swim in that ocean, to be dressed by that ocean – Ya Hayyu al Qayyum (The Ever-Living and Self-Sustaining). Once the soul goes back into its origin, they are dressing and swimming in an ocean of hayat. Hayat is the eternal oceans. They are qayyum because they’ve reached the reality of their soul. As a result of Hayyu al Qayyum, they are Ahlul Haq (People of Truth). Haq is Ahlul Haq – they are breathing and drinking from the power oceans of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. They are every moment in Bahrul Qudra, the ocean of qudra (power).
So, then what Allah (AJ) wants from Laylatul Qadr (Night of Power) is that for people who are not stopping to reach that reality – ya Hu – once in Ramadan, sit and make an itikaf (seclusion). Do you see all these business people, all these distracted people? They drop everything to make itikaf and go make ten days isolation and seclusion for what? To open the reality of their soul, to make their zikr (Divine remembrance), to be dressed by these blessings. The Ahlul Haqqaiq, the People of Realities, the people who are under Sultan al Awliya, Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Nazim Haqqani’s (Q) flag, under the guidance of Mawlana Shaykh (Q), all this teaching is from Mawlana Shaykh (Q). They’re teaching us that every day is an itikaf (seclusion). Every day is a way of reality. Why one night Laylatul Qadr?
Laylatul Qadr is Better Than a Thousand Months, a Lifetime, of Worship
They live by a different hadith, same hadith. They live by all hadith. They live by the hadith that Prophet ﷺ taught them that: if you make tafakkur (contemplation) for one hour, it will be the ajer (reward) and the amal (deed) of 70 years of worship.
Qala Rasulullahi ﷺ: “Tafakkur saa’atin khairun min ‘ibadati sab’yeen sanatan.”
The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said: “One hour of contemplation is more valuable than seventy years of worship.”
Laylatul Qadr (Night of Power), one night, if you can catch it, is 83 months, 1000, 83 years, 1000 months. 83 and a half – one lifetime! Prophet ﷺ gave for our people of reality, Ahlul ma’rifah, the people of haqaiq, that if you sit for tafakkur for one hour; real tafakkur after you’ve been trained and sit for one real hour of tafakkur, as if 70 years of worship.
Allah (AJ) is Only Found in the Heart of the Believer, Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ
It means every moment when they are making tafakkur (contemplation) once their heart is real, they’ve opened to the ocean of sincerity. The shaykhs have opened for them their heart. Their heart connecting with their shaykh all the way up the silsila (spiritual lineage) to the heart of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. It means, at every moment, it means if they make tafakkur for five minutes, then they make tafakkur for five minutes, then they make tafakkur for five minutes. Prophet ﷺ teaching every one hour of their contemplation is 70 years of your worshipness.
So, imagine people who are 15 years in tafakkur where that they close their eyes, they are with Prophet ﷺ. They’re within the heart of Prophet, in the heart of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ making zikr (Divine remembrance) of ‘Allah‘; not the ‘Allah‘ from outside, which was an imitated ‘Allah’. The zikr of La ilaha illallah was imitated because you are not yet in the ocean. You have to enter into the ocean of Muhammadun RasulAllah ﷺ, in the heart. In the heart of Muhammadun RasulAllah ﷺ is where you will find Allah’s (AJ) Divinely Presence. Allah (AJ) said, “I’m not on the outside…”
Be Rabbaniyoon Like the Ulul Amr Who Hold the Alif of ‘Izzatullah
Prophet’s ﷺ order accomplish ulul amr’s request. The ulul amr (saints), they are not malaika. They are the people of authority that Allah (AJ) gave them, they hold the alif of ‘IzzatAllah. They hold the meem of ‘izzat ar Rasul and ‘izzat al mu’minin.
63:8 – “…Wa Lillahil ‘izzatu wa li Rasooli hi wa lil Mumineen…” (Surat Al-Munafiqoon)
“…And to Allah belongs [all] honor, and to His messenger, and to the believers…” (The Hypocrites, 63:8)
They are the rabbaniyoon (lordly souls) – alif, meem, ra. They are rabbaniyoon, not that only Mawlana said, ‘Be rabbaniyoon.‘ Everybody says, ‘Now we’re rabbaniyoon.’ No, they have to be dressed from that reality. Their heart has to be opened to these realities. Then their existence is seeking knowledge. Knowledge is power. They’re seeking power in Divinely Presence.
Every Command Comes From Allah (AJ) to Prophet ﷺ, Passed to Awliyaullah
As a result of the Divinely dress upon them, they emanate divinely knowledges where Allah (AJ) described them in holy Qur’an. I think it’s Surat Al Imran, 3:79, ‘Be rabbaniyoon.’
3:79 – “…wa lakin kono rabbaniyena bima kuntum tu`allimoonal kitaba wabima kuntum tadrusoon.” (Surat Ali-Imran)
“…Be Lordly Souls/faithful servants/worshippers of Him, Because (of what) you have taught the Book and you have studied it earnestly.” (Family of Imran, 3:79)
Be rabbaniyoon, that you seek knowledge and you dispense knowledge. Those are the ulul amr. From the ulul amr, every knowledge, every request, every order is moving out and the malaika are of service to ulul amr. They fulfill those requests. It means every sustenance that’s moving by order of malaika is not coming from Allah (AJ) to the malaika. It comes from Allah (AJ) to Sayyidina Qasim ﷺ. That the reality of Prophet ﷺ who distributes everything; from Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ must come to the person who is responsible for that distribution. Then he begins to distribute amongst the different awliyaullah and the different malaika, different jinn – Budala, Nujaba, Nuqaba, Awtad, and Akhyar wa malaika wal jinn – the seven categories of servants that are of service to that divinely government.
We Must Love Prophet ﷺ More Than We Love Ourselves
It means that we pray that we understand that the real Laylatul Qadr (Night of Power) is in the heart of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. Our whole being is to return to that reality and to be dressed by that reality. That every holy event is a fountain of origin, is the heart of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. How to enter the heart of Prophet ﷺ is by loving Prophet ﷺ more than we can love ourselves.
‘An Anas ibn Malik (ra) qala, qala Rasulullahi ﷺ “La yuminu ahadukum hatta akona ahabba ilayhi min walidihi wa waladihi wan nasi ajma’yeen.” [Sahih Muslim, Hadith 44, wa Al Bukhari, Kitabul Iman, Hadith 15]
Narrated by Anas son of Malik (ra) that Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said: “None of you will have faith till he loves me more than his father, his children, and all mankind.”
[Authentic by Muslim, Hadith 44 & by Al Bukhari, Book of Faith, Hadith 15]
Follow Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ to Gain Allah’s (AJ) Love
Everything that we are doing is to show the love of Prophet ﷺ. If that love is accepted, Allah (AJ) pleased, Allah (AJ) pleased that, ‘If they want My Love, tell them to follow you and then I will love them. If I love them, I will forgive them all their sins.’ Everything that Allah (AJ) wants from us is to love Prophet and follow ulul amr.
3:31 – “Qul in kuntum tuhibbon Allaha fattabi’uni, yuhbibkumullahu wa yaghfir lakum dhunobakum wallahu Ghaforur Raheem.” (Surat Ali-Imran)
“Say, [O Muhammad], “If you should love Allah, then follow me, [so] Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.” (Family of Imran, 3:31)
We pray that Allah (AJ) sanctify and raise infinitely the reality of Sultanul Awliya Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Nazim Haqqani (Q), and give Mawlana Shaykh (Q) long life, tremendous support and to always dress us, bless us and forgive us.
