Rajabun Shahrullah – Rajab is the Month of Allah

It is always a good reminder for us, it is good advice to lower the desires and open up the reality within the heart so that the lights of the soul can shine especially in these holy months: the holy month of Rajab and the secrets that Allah (SWT) wants to reveal of Lights from Divinely Oceans. It doesn’t have words to describe on the tongue, because when you try to describe it, then it becomes very limited for His Divine Qudra that wants to manifest. The Divine Lights want to manifest and this secret this love from Divinely Presence is moving in the month of Rajab. And it begins Allah’s Will, that there is a hidden treasure and everything can be found from their teachings, from Mawlana Shaykh’s teachings, they take the flavour and reality of holy hadith and begin to open out the secrets.

Then, Prophet (s) describes that Allah was a Hidden Treasure wanting to be known and that Allah (SWT) will always be a Hidden Treasure, because He is laa shareek and laa Shabee “Nothing like unto Allah (SWT), no partner for Allah (SWT); no nearness or understanding of Allah (SWT),” but, Allah (SWT) wanted to be known. That Izzat wanted to be known. It Will be known in the reality of Sha`baan the Month of Prophet [as] . That becomes the light and the dress and there may be infinite realities and understandings from different knowledge’s’. And what Mawlana Shaykh is reminding within my heart is to remember that light wanting to be known. And for that reason Prophet (s) was granted Isra wa ‘l-Mi`raj on the 27^th (Rajab). And the 27^th has a tremendous secret; it is the reflection in dunya of the baab, of the door. In Paradise its reality is that 72. That is why the 72 Shuhada of Kerbala and one who is on the correct path of Haqq is Imam Hussain (as). And that 72 and one is always an important number. So then the door in dunya is 27.

Allah (SWT) opened that door for the Khatim, the Seal of Prophecy, that everything in Creation is to receive its marif’aa` only after the Imam of Creation enters into the Ocean of Marif’aa`; you can’t go before Prophet (s) and there is no prophet who can go before Prophet (s). Even if you have a house, you can’t go into the house without the host, “Ya sidi, you first,” and then you go in. That master of that reality is Sayyidina Muhammad (s). And nothing is going to reach what Allah (SWT) wants it to reach until Prophet (s)’s physicality (reaches there). So now they all have limits of what they were able to understand and to receive of understandings. That light wanted to be known and the zikr from these realities is from Subhaana man Huwa al-Khaliq an-Noor.

That is why many awliyaullah go for khalwah in Rajab because these lights are manifesting, these blessings are manifesting. These are the months of giving, the months of praying, the months of fasting, the months of every good action that Allah (SWT) is claiming His Divinely Name upon that month and saying, “Rajabun Shahrullah.” That is going to have a completely different meaning. Allah (SWT) is attaching His Divinely Name that we can’t even imagine what magnificence, what munificence that is. Allah is saying, “This is Shahrullah. I am going to give in this month from Divine Realities and from Divine Essence of realities that nothing you can imagine.” So the people of haqqaiq they are always seeking these treasures and these blessings. These are Divine Treasures and Divine Blessings not dunya treasures. And they try their best to catch that month with the intention that we are weak, “Ya Rabbee, we are just imitating out of love and Prophet (s) told us to watch for that month. Awliyaullah taught us how to try to catch that month,” and we go about our lives with our `amal and actions and we pray Allah (SWT) and Prophet (s) grant us kullu amalun bi-niyaat, that you merely make the intention and Allah (SWT) will perfect it. There is no way for us to approach Allah (SWT) with perfection. That manifestation is in Rajab and Allah (SWT) opened it through Isra wa ‘l-Mi`raj that, “You come through that door on that holy night of the 27^th.” And that secret which wants to manifest, manifests in the month of Shabaan.

Sha’ban – Month of Prophet (saw)

They say Prophet (s) attached his holy name to the month of Shabaan. That month of Shabaan is under the secret and tajalli of Sayyidina Muhammad (s) and that is the opening of the secret why it wants to be known and it will be known as Muhammadun Rasulullah (s). Everything is in the Kalimah, our whole existence is in the Kalimah, our being cleansed, is in the Kalimah, that is why you say, “Laa ilaha il-Allah Muhammadun Rasulullah.” You say, “Ashadu an laa ilaha il-Allah, wa ashadu ana Muhammadan Habeebuhu wa Rasuluhu.” It means there is every secret in that reality. Laa ilaha il-Allah is always a hidden treasure. And what Allah (SWT) will allow us to understand then is the treasures and secrets of Muhammadun Rasulullah.

So then Sha`baan comes, because we are asking to be dressed by these lights, dressed by these blessings, Sha`baan comes and then nisf Sha`baan is a spiritual New Year, Laylatu ‘l-Baraa. It means these Divine Lights, and Divine Blessings on nisf Sh`abaan that awliyaullah teach, that Allah (SWT) is going to write for the year what is going to take place upon the souls, and in the world of Light. So then on nisf Sha`baan we have lots of celebrations, lots of zikr, Mawlid an-Nabi (s), everything again to catch that light and catch that blessing and showing now that light is now manifesting and bringing its secrets out. And then from Sha`baan is the dress for all Creation, and in the holy month of Ramadan. That is why in Ramadan Allah (SWT) wants us to be blessed by that ninth month.

Ramadan – Month of Ummah

Mawlana Shaykh is teaching that the best blessing, and the best dressing to come to humanity, Allah (SWT) actually asks, “Don’t do anything.” It means when Ramadan comes, don’t do anything because everything we do has a lot of problems in it. So He gives us from the highest reward which is an action that actually requires ‘no action’. Allah (SWT) asks us, “You just fast.” It means: don’t eat, don’t drink, don’t backbite, don’t see things that are forbidden, abstain. We think we have to do a lot of actions, Allah is saying, “I am going to give you from the highest reality, just don’t do any action. Fast for Me and I am going to Grant you that reward.” The lights that were manifesting in Rajab, its secret are moving through the heart of Insaan, wala qad karamna bani Adam, and manifesting in the reality of Sha`baan, in the greatness and in the perfection of the personality of Sayyidina Muhammad (s). Allah (SWT) says, “Be sharp and catch that in the Holy Ramadan.”

Allah (SWT) says, “I sent the Holy Qur’an in Ramadan.” It means then the seeker sits with tafakkur to contemplate; sit and contemplate and saying, “Ya Rabbee opening these lights and these blessings, opening the reality of Sayyidina Muhammad (s) then what are You manifesting in Holy Ramadan?” When Allah (SWT) is saying, “I am sending My Holy Qur’an, allama ‘l-Qur’an khalaqa ‘l-insaan.” From whom? Ar–Rahmaan. It means Allah (SWT) is saying, “These lights are the lights of your reality. I taught you all that knowledge in the World of Light and then I created your physicality.”

الرَّ‌حْمَـٰنُ ﴿١﴾ عَلَّمَ الْقُرْ‌آنَ ﴿٢﴾ خَلَقَ الْإِنسَانَ ﴿٣

55:1 The Most Merciful, Ar Rahmanu

            55:2 Taught the Qur’an, ‘allamalqurana

    55:3 Created man, Khalaqal insana 

(Quran, Surat Ar Rahman 55:1-3)

So then the highest goal is to come into dunya and to find ourselves, find this light and reality, “Ya Rabbee you didn’t make me like a donkey where I just eat and drink and go to the bathroom. You created me with a secret and my duty is to uncover that secret.” So then fasting, praying, giving and doing in Rajab so that light, “Ya Rabbee, with just my intention, dress me from that reality.” Then Holy Sha`baan is coming and again making intention, “Ya Rabbee give me the himmah and the ability to observe that greatness.” Mawlana Shaykh is even teaching us to make a shower welcoming the month. “Ya Rabbee my actions are weak and I don’t know if You are going to find any happiness in what I do, but I even take a shower to show ihtiraam Respect to show respect for that arrival that dress me from those lights.”

And then comes Holy Ramadan where Allah (SWT) says, “Just fast for Me, abstain for Me, I am going to manifest all those realities.” And if you are clever enough to do fasting and do it with sincerity: fasting with the ears, with the eyes, with the breath and with the tongue, then you sit again on the 27^th which is laylatu ‘l-Qadr. It means that laylatu ‘l-Qadr is the dress of Isra wa ‘l-Mi`raj where Allah (SWT) wants to dress.

ق ۚ وَالْقُرْ‌آنِ الْمَجِيدِ ١
50:1 Qaf waalqurani almajeed.

Qaf. By the honored Qur’an. (The letter Qaf 50:1)

From what dress? “Qaaf wa ‘l-Qur’an al-Majeed, I want to dress you from the reality of My Holy Qur’an which is the reality of My Divine Qudra.” That is why it is called “Laylatu ‘l-Qadr”. Night of Power “I want to dress you from these Oceans of Power.” Again sit on the door of the 27^th, observing and with sincerity asking, “Ya Rabbee, grant me from these lights, that were achieved, and given as a Divine Will of Allah (SWT), achieved by the greatness of Sayyidina Muhammad (s).” It means the Khatim an-Nabi arrived and went for his Mi`raj and is consistently in a Mi`raj to the Divinely Presence. As he is on his Mi`raj to the Divine Presence, means he is being dressed by all these realities and all these lights. Then, Allah (SWT) says, “I gave you the best of gifts, I made you from the Ummah of Sayyidina Muhammad (s), the one who is always in My Divine Mi`raj, I am dressing him from all these realities, you sit on the 27^th and observe laylatu ‘l-Qadr.”

 From the 20^th onwards they sit and observe, and in remembrance of that holy night from the 21^st night of Ramadan, sitting making itikaaf for 10 days according to Prophet (s)’s Sunnah. It means reach those lights so that we can be dressed by the reality of Prophet (s)’s Mi`raj where Prophet (s) went. You are talking about Prophet (s)’s life, and, his whole life was (spend saying) “Ummati, ummati.” He didn’t make a Mi`raj for his own wealth, he didn’t make a Mi`raj for his own satisfaction, he made a Mi`raj for all of Creation: “Ya Rabbee, whatever You are going to Grant from Your Greatness and from Your Oceans, dress me, bless me and I will give it to all of my nation.”

Holy Quran The Star 53:9 And was at a distance of two bow lengths or nearer.

فَكَانَ قَابَ قَوْسَيْنِ أَوْ أَدْنَىٰ ٩
فَأَوْحَىٰ إِلَىٰ عَبْدِهِ مَا أَوْحَىٰ ١٠

53:9 Fakana qaba qawsayni aw adna.
53:10 Fa awha illah ‘abdihi ma awha.

53:9 And was at a distance of two bow lengths or nearer.
53:10 And he revealed to His Servant what he revealed. (Surat An Najm (Star) 53:9-10)

It means these holy nights and these blessed nights have such an importance and such a significance and we realize that we are weak and we are not going to achieve anything that Allah (SWT) will be astonished and amazed with but every action is by intention. All they ask from us is a good character and an attempt towards sincerity. So we sit and do the things that we can in remembrance of Allah, it is the washing and purification. All the praying, the fasting and every `amal and action is what Allah (SWT) asked from us and we do it with love and sit and ask, “Ya Rabbee, dress us from these lights, dress us from these blessings. Put in our hearts the love of Sayyidina Muhammad (s).” The love of Sayyidina Muhammad (s) is the completion of faith that Prophet (s) has many different teachings that, “You have to love me more than you love yourself.” That is a big step: how to love Prophet (s) more than we love ourselves, more than we love our family, more than we love our children, more than we love our wealth. Everything in faith is in the completion of love for Sayyidina Muhammad (s). We are asking, “Ya Rabbee, dress us from that love and that `ishq of Sayyidina Muhammad (s) so the lights of Ramadan can manifest.” What lights is Allah (SWT) going to manifest? Allama ‘l-Qur’an, Allah (SWT) says, “I am going to begin to send the lights of My Holy Qur’an that dress and bless your soul. All of My Divinely Lights which I have taught your soul and then created this World of Form.”

So then everything for us is in the remembrance, in the meditation, tafakkur, and contemplation. By contemplating and doing these practices we are asking, “Ya Rabbee, take us back into those Oceans of what You taught our souls, what realities you dressed upon our soul, let those realities manifest in this dunya.” Those realities that Allah (SWT) has already given to the soul, if they come and dress this physicality, and dress this reality, that is our blessing. And Allah (SWT) describes: “That is better than a thousand months.” Eighty-three years of our life, Allah (SWT) says, “If you can catch these lights it is better than a lifetime.” Why run around this dunya and still achieve nothing? Allah (SWT) says, “If you can catch those lights, it is as if a lifetime was given to you in one night.” We pray that Allah (SWT) opens these blessings for us and Prophet (s) dresses us from what they have been dressed with, the Ahlul Bayt dress us from what they have been dressed with, the Ashaab an-Nabi dress us from what they have been dressed with and awliyaullah dress us from what they have been dressed with.

Subhaana Rabbika Rabbil izzati amma yasifoon wa salaamun alal mursaleen wal hamdulillahi Rabbi ‘l-Alameen.
