From the Realities of Mawlana (Q) as taught by Shaykh Nurjan Mirahmadi
أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الشَّيطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ
بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ
A’uzu Billahi Minash Shaitanir Rajeem
Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem
I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan
In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful
Alhamdulillahi Rabbil ‘aalameen, was salaatu was salaamu ‘alaa Ashrafil Mursaleen, Sayyidina wa Mawlana Muhammadul Mustafa ﷺ.
Always a reminder for myself, ana abdukal ‘ajeez, wa dayeef, wa miskin, wa zhalim, wa jahl, and but for the grace of Allah (AJ) that we’re still in existence.
أَطِيعُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُوا الرَّسُولَ وَأُولِي الْأَمْرِ مِنكُم… ﴿٥٩﴾ …
4:59 – “…Atiullaha wa atiur Rasula wa Ulil amre minkum…” (Surat an-Nisa)
“…Obey Allah, obey the Messenger, and those in authority among you…” (The Women, 4:59)
Step With Your Right Foot to Receive the Lights of Muharram
In Allah’s (AJ) oceans of rahmah (mercy) and that Allah (AJ) be pleased with us, and when Allah (AJ) be pleased with us, granting the love of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. The love of Prophet ﷺ is what saves us, the love of Prophet ﷺ brings us close to the love of Allah (AJ), the gaze of Allah (AJ), and the rida and satisfaction of Allah (AJ). InshaAllah, Allah (AJ) grants us more and more love in this holy year. That a new year opening for us, the hijri calendar, alhamdulillah, stepping always with our right foot…right foot asking, ‘Ya Rabbi, we are asking to step on this year and enter the new hijri calendar.’
The holy month of Muharram, the holy days of Ashura, that, ‘Ya Rabbi, from what You are dressing the lights of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, dress us. What You are blessing with the lights to Ahlul Bayt (holy family of Prophet ﷺ), bless us, ya Rabbi. What You are dressing and blessing to the lights of the Khulufa-e-Rashidin (rightly guided representatives) Al-Mahdiyeen (Muhammadan guides), bless us and dress us. Ya Rabbi, what You are dressing from the lights of Your awliyaullah (saints), your saliheen (righteous) and the servants whom You are pleased with, and that You love and You have granted your nearness to.’
Khasatan Sultanul Awliya (king of saints) Shaykh Muhammad Nazim Haqqani (Q), Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani (Q), Shaykh Adnan Kabbani (Q), and all awliyaullah; Shahmatul Fardani (Q), Abdur Rauf al Yamani (Q), Yusuf as-Siddiq (Q), Imam ul ‘Arifeen (Q), Lisanul Mutakallimin (Q), Arif Tayyar Ma’ruf bi Mulhan (Q), Burhanul Kurama Ghawthul Anam (Q), Saheb ul Waqt, Saheb az-Zaman Sayyidina Muhammad al-Mahdi (as), and all awliyaullah. That, ‘Ya Rabbi, dress us and bless us from their lights and from what You have granted to them.’ That ana abdukal ‘ajeez, wa dayeef, wa miskin, wa zhalim, wa jahl. We are weak servants and constantly falling into difficulties and trials and tribulations. That as much as Allah (AJ) bless us and dress us, we are in need.
Muharram is the Month of Forgiveness and No Haram
That alhamdulillah, this holy month opening Muharram, opening realities of Muharram, opening…and in the understanding of the qalb (heart) and opening of the qalb. Nabi Adam (as) is important, Nabi Nuh (as) important, Nabi Ibrahim (as), Nabi Musa (as), Nabi Isa (as) and Nabi Sayyidina Muhammad al-Mustafa ﷺ. These are from the big, big, big prophets (as) of Allah (AJ) and have tremendous realities. That in the month of Muharram and in the holy month and holy days of Ashura, that for us, the first teaching going to come is Sayyidina Adam (as). Going to teach that, ‘I was forgiven on Ashura.‘ Asha Nura is a granting of light; when Allah (AJ) forgives the sins, forgives the wrongs and dresses and blesses.
The result of the month of hajj (pilgrimage), the month of ma’rifah (gnosticism), is the rahmah of Allah (AJ) is Muharram. That, ‘After you made your hijrah (migration) to Me and came to Me, I am going to grant you from My rahmah (mercy). I am going to grant you from My forgiveness.’ Muharram, the month of no haram (forbidden), the month in which Allah (AJ) saying, ‘Every journey that ends re-begins’, re-beginning from Allah’s (AJ) rahmah and mercy.
Sayyidina Adam (as) Was Granted Forgiveness on Ashura
Sayyidina Adam (as) then comes to us and teaches that, ‘I fell onto dunya (material world) and for 40 years, I cried out onto Allah (AJ) to grant forgiveness.’ On Ashura, Sayyidina Adam (as) was granted his forgiveness. It means that Baab at-Tawbah (Door of Repentance) begins the reality of opening within the heart because at the level of the heart is much higher understanding than normal teachings. Awliyaullah (saints) inspire within our hearts to understand that Sayyidina Adam (as) coming and teaching that, ‘I was forgiven on this day’. Sayyidina Adam (as) remembered, ‘Ya Hamidu bi Haqqi Muhammad ﷺ, Ya ‘Aliyun be Haqqi ‘Ali (as), Ya Khaliq bi Haqqi Fatimatuz Zahra (as), Ya Rahman bi Haqqi Imam al-Hassan al-Mujtaba (as), Ya Raheem bi Haqqi Sayyid ash-Shuhada Imam al-Hussain (as), grant me forgiveness, ya Rabbi.’
“Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem
Ya Hamidu bi Haqqi Muhammad ﷺ, Ya ‘Aliyu be Haqqi ‘Ali (as), Ya Khaliqu bi Haqqi Fatimatuz Zahra (as), Ya Rahmanu bi Haqqi Hassan (as), Ya Raheemu bi Haqqi Hussain (as).”
“In the name of Allah, the Most compassionate, the Most Merciful
O the Praiseworthy for the sake of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), O’the Most High for the sake of Imam ‘Ali (as), O the Creator for the sake of Fatima Zahra (as), O the Most Compassionate for the sake of Imam Hassan (as), O’the Most Merciful for the sake of Imam Hussain (as).”
Allah (AJ), ‘Oh, how you remembered these words, ya Adam’ and said that, ‘I saw that on the throne when You showed Me your paradises. I forgot and became heedless in this dunya (material world). For 40 years of tawbah (repentance) and crying, then I remembered. Sayyidina Jibreel (as) came to me and said: Remember what you are reading. There is a day you are going to need that recitation and it came to my heart that, that is my key to maghfirah, to forgiveness’. So, Sayyidina Adam (as) comes into our lives and teaching, ‘Now understand all the prophets (as) and their way in moving into forgiveness’.
Sayyidina Nuh’s (as) Ship was Saved With Inscribed Names of Ahlul Bayt (as)
Sayyidina Nuh (as) comes and teaches that, ‘In the flood of ignorance and difficulty, my ship was granted refuge. My ship was granted it’s forgiveness and Allah (AJ) granted land and the water moved on Ashura and my community was saved.’ Begin to teaching that we fall into difficulty and how Allah (AJ) saved Sayyidina Adam (as), granted his forgiveness, came to Sayyidina Nuh (as) and granted him forgiveness, and being saved from flooding, saved from calamity.
Awliyaullah teach many realities of what that ship was made from. That the ship had names of all the prophets (as) upon it, and the head of that steering, the head of it’s plank was in the name of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, the name of Sayyidina Ali (as), Sitna Fatimatul Zahra (as), Sayyidina Hassan (as) wa Sayyidina Hussain ‘alayhis salaatu salaam. Every plank and every piece of wood had the names of holy people so that that ship would sail through safety. ‘Wa safinatun najat’ (arc of salvation) and opens many different realities.
Sayyidina Nuh (as) comes and teaches that, ‘InshaAllah, you’re going to be tested in your lives and faith has to be granted. When Allah (AJ) grants that faith, it is from the lights of Ashura’. That you will be safe because everybody has a ship that is sailing towards Allah’s (AJ) Divine mercy and that is the soul. That every test that comes, it builds the soul so that the soul knows the way back to Allah (AJ). Only iman (faith) can be granted by Allah (AJ) and those are the lights of Ashura.
Increase Your Worshipness in the First Ten Days of Muharram
So, every day of Muharram, every Muharram that beginning, we’re asking, ‘Ya Rabbi, grant us Your forgiveness. Grant us Your maghfirah that You have granted and forgiven our past. Grant us the lights of Islam, the lights of iman, lights of al-Ihsan – the stages of perfection’. That’s why it is so important to fast in the first ten days of Muharram. It’s so important to increase worshipness, to feed, to pray, to wash, to give food, to give clothing, to do so many charitable acts because Allah…Allah (AJ) granting the soul tremendous realities in these ten days of His forgiveness, holy forgiveness.
Sayyidina Ibrahim (as) Was Saved From the Fires of Nimrod
Sayyidina Ibrahim (as) comes and teaches that, ‘As dunya (material world) was going to throw me into the fire’, “Qulna ya naaru, kunee Bardan wa Salaman ‘ala Ibrahim.” That, ‘Allah (AJ) gave me cool and peacefulness as I was going to be thrown into the fire of Nimrod’. That on Ashura came, and Allah (AJ) granted that, ‘Let it to go. Sayyidina Ibrahim (as) is going to be cool and peaceful.’ It means that, ‘That fire is not going to burn My nabi (prophet).’
(Surat Al-Anbiya)
“We said, O fire, be cool and Peaceful upon Abraham.” (The Prophets, 21:69)
Sayyidina Ibrahim (as) come and teaching our souls that, ‘Every day you are in the fires of Nimrod. Every day your ghadab (anger) is overtaking you.’ We don’t want to be naarani (fiery) but we want to be nurani (luminous). That, ‘Ya Rabbi, grant us from the lights of Ashura. Grant us from the lights of these realities, not to be fiery but to be nurani, to be filled with light and love of Divinely Presence.
Allah (AJ) Granted a Path to Freedom for Nabi Musa (as) and His Nation
Nabi Musa (as) comes and teaches that: ‘My ummah (nation) and my community were saved from from Fir’aun (Pharoah) on Ashura. That as these shayateen (devils) are running after us. We are running and Allah (AJ) granted a path through that water on the Holy day of Ashura. Ashura came and Allah (AJ) granted a way towards that reality.’
Always asking, ‘Ya Rabbi, grant us a way through difficulties. Grant us a way through every bad characteristic that keeps chasing us and coming after us as you granted all these ummahs (nations). Grant from Ummat e Nabi ﷺ (nation of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ) a way, a najat, a salvation, a path towards your Divinely Presence’.
Angels Come to Lift You When Allah (AJ) Sees You Struggling
Awliyaullah (saints) come and teach that all our struggle, we are on one side until the day that Allah (AJ) grants ‘Rihseba‘. Rihseba is the pronunciation is a very special angel. That when Allah (AJ) is satisfied with your struggle, sees the intent in which you are struggling, struggling, struggling – these angels come and lift you from one shore to the next shore.
That shore is the shores of paradise. When Allah (AJ) begin to dress the soul from it’s paradise reality, that only through the blessings of Ashura and the lights of Ashura, that the soul can be granted that. That soul has to be purified and cleaned like Sayyidina Adam (as), teaching it’s all a same path that you have to be granted forgiveness.
We Cannot Reach the Shore of Safety When Filled With Anger
That Nabi Nuh (as) teaching that, ‘Your soul has to be fixed. Your faith has to be complete and your ship has to be sailing.’ It has to have Allah’s (AJ), “Qulna ya naaru, kunee Bardan wa Salaman.” That no matter how much shayateen are chasing after you, be cool and peaceful. That your ghadab and your anger have to go. The light of your iman and your faith will begin to shine because ghadab is kufr (disbelief). Anger takes you outside the ocean of faith.
Nabi Ibrahim (as) teaching that, ‘If we are filled with anger, never we’re going to reach the shore of safety’. So, then they are teaching us that, ‘Bring all of these characteristics down’. Nabi Musa (as) then teaching that to be free from these difficulties, ‘Ya Rabbi, grant me a path. Grant me the angels to take my soul to the next shore, the shore of Your realities, the shore of Your rida and satisfaction’.
Sayyidina Isa (as) Was Raised Into Divine Ascension on Ashura
Sayyidina Isa (as) comes and teaches us that, ‘I was raised on the day of Ashura. That as every shayateen came to attack me, Allah (AJ) raised me into Divinely ascension’. It means now we’re going from this dunya (material world) reality all the way up being purified and cleaned.
Nabi Isa (as), Jesus Christ, peace and blessings be upon him, teaching then, ‘You must be raised. If your soul has reached the other shore, then Allah (AJ) going to raise you towards these Divinely realities. I was raised on the day of Ashura. That the people who wished to harm me, they could not harm me. I was raised to Your Divinely Presence and the presence of Allah’s (AJ) Divinely Oceans.’
Madinatul Munawwara Was Granted to Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ
Nabi Muhammad ﷺ comes and teaches us all of these realities. That the first thing in that paradise that was granted to Prophet ﷺ is the hijri calendar. That the hijrah (migration) of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ is the importance of moving from dunya (material world). Allah (AJ) granting Prophet ﷺ the City of Lights. Madinatul Munawwara (luminous city of Prophet ﷺ) is symbolic for us, ‘The City of Light’. That Prophet ﷺ granting that, ‘I am the city of light. Everything else is dunya (material world). If you are coming towards that reality, that I am the owner of that key’. The hijrah of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, the movement and the pilgrimage of Prophet’s ﷺ movement from Mecca to Madina.
Madina is the city of light. That, that Ashura was granted for Prophet ﷺ, ‘Leave them. Leave the torment that they are putting you through. I am now granting you the City of Lights.’ This is not the city of only this dunya (material world). But Madinatul Munawwara, the city of Allah (AJ) is the city of light, is the presence of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. Teaching us that after all that elevation and all that rising into the oceans of Heavenly Presence, then what city is Allah (AJ) going to grant us? It’s the city of Madinatul Munawwara, the city of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. Ya Rabbi, raise us to your Maqamul Mahmood (station of praise). Maqamul Mahmood is Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. His name is Sayyidina Mahmood (as) in paradises. That, that city to open, that reality and that oceans to open. So, it’s not something small. It is just a month that’s beginning.
Repent and Ask for Your Anger to Be Taken Away to Raise Your Station
We’re asking from all these realities, ‘Ya Rabbi, grant us a repentance. Grant us the ghadab and anger to be taken away. Raise our soul in it’s darajat (station) to Your heavenly lights. Then grant us entry into the city, the city of Prophet ﷺ. That we be in the most blessed lights, the most blessed presence, the most praiseworthy station of all creation’. Then Prophet ﷺ describing then, ‘The characteristics of the people of my city.’
That Prophet ﷺ was granted the city. Then we want to move into that reality of the city. Then Ahlul Baytin Nabi ﷺ (holy family of Prophet ﷺ), Ashab an Nabi ﷺ (holy companions of Prophet ﷺ), even the companions of Prophet ﷺ, they all gave that same example, ‘Then you must sacrifice’. “Fasali li rabbika wanhar.”
﴾فَصَلِّ لِرَبِّكَ وَانْحَرْ ﴿٢
108:2 – “Fasali li rabbika wanhar. ” (Surat Al-Kawthar)
“So pray to your Lord and Sacrifice.” (The Abundance, 108:2)
Pray to Your Lord and Sacrifice Like Imam Hussain (as) (Holy Qur’an, 108:2)
That, Imam Hussain (as) comes and teaches us that if we want to be in the City of Lights and if we want to be in the company of all the prophets (as), all the siddiqs (truthful), all the shuhada (martyrs), all the saliheen (righteous), all of them, they are with Allah (AJ). If you want to be with them, “Fasali li rabbika wanhar” because these are Ashab ul Kawthar (companions of the fountain of abundance).
The presence of Prophet ﷺ, the presence of lights, the presence of this city, these are the companions of the Kawthar (The Fountain of Abundance). “Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem. “‘Atayna kal kawthar. Fasali li rabbika wanhar. Shani-aka huwal abtar.”
108:1-3 – “Inna ‘atayna kal kawthar. (1) Fasali li rabbika wanhar. (2) Inna shani-aka huwal abtar. (3)” (Surat Al-Kawthar)
“To thee (O Muhammad) we have granted the Fount (of Abundance). (1) So pray to your Lord and Sacrifice. (2) Indeed, your enemy is the one cut off. (3)” (The Abundance, 108:1-3)
Seek to Fulfill Allah’s (AJ) Wants, Not Your Own
That, ‘I will obliterate everything that comes your way.’ It means ‘I take away all these shaitanic desires, all these shaitans that are coming after you to bring you back to your dunya (material world) understanding and I will raise you to your heavenly reality, your soul’s reality, into the most blessed and most Divinely Presence that you can imagine. But live a life based on sacrifice.’ So, then Ashura opens for us from the Ahlul Bayt teaching us that you must sacrifice to the perfection of your faith. That it’s not about what I want. It’s not about what I want and what I need. But everything in my life, ya Rabbi, I don’t need it. Teach me how I don’t need it. Teach me that what I need is not important and what You need is everything.
All the prophets (as), the same du’a (supplication), that ‘Your kingdom is coming and Your will must be done on Earth means in my heart. Your will must be in my heart, not my will in my heart’. All the prophets (as) come and say, ‘This is the same du’a. This is the same paradise. This is the same reality.’ But if you want to sit at that table and eat with them, to be in the noble company of noble prophets (as) and noble saints and noble souls, then they lay for us a path based on these understandings. That you must enter the Baab at-Tawbah (Door of Repentance).
Sacrifice Your Bad Characteristics to Approach the Divinely Presence
This is the month in which we’re asking, ‘Ya Rabbi, grant us forgiveness. Grant us to be halal (permissible) for you. Grant all our bad characteristics to be taken, ya Rabbi. Let us move these 12 months all the way back to the month of Dhul Hajj, but in through the gate of tawbah and the gates of forgiveness.’ Then all that Allah (AJ) asks is, ‘If you are coming into My Divinely Presence, then leave all your bad characteristics. Sacrifice your bad characteristics. Sacrifice your smoking, your drinking, your anger, all the things that blocking you from Divine realities’.
If we can sacrifice those and live a life based on sacrifice, then everyday we ask ourself, ‘I need this or Allah (AJ) needs this?’ Everything that we are wanting in our lives – as soon as that want comes in, then they say live a life based on your hisaab (account), muhasabah (accounting); everyday taking an account. ‘Ya Rabbi, who needs this? I need this? You need this? We need this?’ We begin to live a life where we try to keep that hisaab, that, ‘I don’t need it, ya Rabbi, I don’t need it’.
Control the False Desires of the Eyes
I said many times before that anytime we want to go shopping, we would go to Costco and we take a cart, I go with my daughter. That the other… others are embarrassed with that. I go with my daughter, and I put everything on the cart, everything that my eyes wanted, ‘I want this. I want this. I want this. I want this’. That cart looks like it is probably $3000 worth of stuff, all the way to the front and then I say, ‘Are you satisfied? Say, ‘Yes, we leave’. ‘Let’s go’.
Then I leave the store. That’s all it was. It was only from here [referring to eyes), and the feeling that, ‘We wanting, we need this, we need this, we need this,’ and then you go home and say, ‘Alhamdulillah, I don’t…at least I don’t have that bill and I didn’t need any of that garbage.’
Eliminating Our Bad Character is Minimal Compared to Those Who Were Martyred
We try to live a life on a daily basis. Alhamdulillah, there is no huge suffering where Allah (AJ) calling you in your physicality, that ‘Come now with your physicality, sacrifice yourself’. All that Allah (AJ) asking from us is, ‘Sacrifice then bad characteristics’, sacrifice all these things that block us from that light, and live a life of purity, a life of realities and understand how all the prophets (as) they understood their forgiveness on this day and on this month, on this month that is opening. These ten days, they understood that these are the days of forgiveness. All their nations were forgiven.
The nation of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ was granted the City of Lights. The keeper of that city his hand is Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, Allah (AJ) has granted us the greatest gift of life, the greatest gift in existence is to be from Ummat e Nabi ﷺ (Nation of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ) who is the owner of that city, and then to have the love of Prophet ﷺ and following the example of the companions and the family of Prophet ﷺ that sacrificed. All of them were martyred. All the companions were martyred. All of them went through difficult physical sacrifices. All awliyaullah (saints) teach from us is now ‘Just sacrifice your desires. In fact, sacrifice your wants and your bad characters,’ inshaAllah.
Subhana rabbika rabbal ‘izzati ‘amma yasifoon, wa salaamun ‘alal mursaleen, walhamdulillahi rabbil ‘aalameen. Bi hurmati Muhammad al-Mustafa ﷺ wa bi siri Surat al-Fatiha.
