Seek to Burn in Your Sincere Love of the Divine
From the Realities of Mawlana (Q) as taught by Shaykh Nurjan Mirahmadi
A’uzu Billahi Minash Shaitanir Rajeem
Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem
I seek refuge in Allah (AJ) from the accursed Satan
In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful
Alhamdulillahi Rabbil ‘aalameen, was salaatu was salaamu ‘alaa Ashrafil Mursaleen, Sayyidina wa Mawlana Muhammadul Mustafa ﷺ.
Always a reminder for myself, ana abdukal ‘ajeez, wa dayeef, wa miskin, wa zhalim, wa jahl, and but for the grace of Allah (AJ) that we’re still in existence.
4:59 – “…Atiullaha wa atiur Rasula wa Ulil amre minkum…” (Surat an-Nisa)
“…Obey Allah, obey the Messenger, and those in authority among you…” (The Women, 4:59)
92 Symbolizes the Muhammadan Reality
In this holy month, like a formula, we put 92 then equals ‘Muhammadan reality’. That the abjad and the secrets of huroof (Arabic letters) and numbers in relationship to the Divinely Presence that the meem ha meem daal, it adds to 92 in malakut (heavenly realm).
In mulk (earthly realm), that 92, it reflects onto the Earth through this world of a mirror. We are but a reflection of a reality. This is not real and this dunya (material world), Allah (AJ) describes, ‘…is but an illusion.’
“…And what is the life of this world except the enjoyment of deception/delusion.” (The Family of Imran, 3:185)
29 Reflects 92 and Represents the Laam-Alif, the Zulfiqar
So, on this dunya (material world), the secret is 29; the reflection of that 92. Then 29, in the huroof, is laam-alif. So, you put 29 equals the ‘Muhammadan reality’ equals…like those…have you seen those crazy physicists when they write these formulas? This that version. So, you put 92 equals ‘Muhammadan reality ﷺ’.
Dunya – 29 is the gate to that reality to understand the reality of 29. Then you put equal again, 29th huroof is laam-alif what they call ‘bi sirratul laam jalala’ – by the secret of this laam and this alif, and that laam-alif is a zulfiqar – goes up and down (Shaykh traces laam-alif in the air). So, the laam and the alif is the stem of the sword. The handle of it is a ‘hey’ which is a ‘Hu’. So, the ‘Hu’ holds the two stems. So, that 29 is the secret of laam-alif. 2 and 9 equals 11. 2 plus 9 — 11. So, the next line you put 11. 11 because now the code is giving us its secrets.
Hide in the Cave of Realities Like the Spider
So, it came from 92. It’s veiled in the understanding of 29. So, then the school of reality must be teaching you: ‘What is 29?’ Why we went into the cave on ankabut (spiderweb)? ‘Bi sirratul laam jalala’ is the secret of laam-alif which means: ‘la’ – ‘no’. No head, no you to reach the reality.
This is not about me and myself. Everything the number is showing us in these haqqaiqs (realities) is to enter the state of laam-alif that – no, nothing. Like Surat al Ankabut – hide. Be hidden into this cave of realities. Then the 2 + 9 = 11. That’s why Giyarwee Sharif (11th of the lunar month) and those whom love Shaykh Abdul Qadir (Q), they celebrating 11 and many realities of 11 and this is the holy month, the 11th month – Dhul Qi’dah.
Meem Ha, Meem Daal Signifies Malik ul Hayat, Malik ud Dunya
So, this 11 is the secret of that 92. It’s opening its reality because the deeper you go into the reality, the more it’s telling you about itself. The more Prophet ﷺ is revealing that at 92, you’re learning about Muhammadun Rasulullah ﷺ. Meem ha – Malik al Hayat (King of oceans of eternity). Meem daal – Malik al Dunya (King of Manifested Worlds).
These are of that haqqaiq and reality. When they open for us, ‘Go now into the 29. Go into the cave. Go into the heart of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. He is the secret by which is known laam-alif. He ﷺ is the secret of this laam-alif. He’s the secret of all this manifestation because this laam to manifest this creation needs the power, izzat of the alif.
11 Breaks Down Into La Ilaha IllAllah and Muhammadun RasulAllah ﷺ
As a result, everything is coming into existence. Allah (AJ) bring into existence not so that you go back to Allah (AJ), but He brings it into existence by the power that He puts upon the laam. A creation is brought into existence from the ocean of Muhammadun Rasulullah ﷺ, by the Power and Might of Allah (AJ). But not so that you could say, ‘I go back to Allah (AJ). Then I’m a partner with Allah (AJ). I came from Allah (AJ).’
No, la sharik (no partner), la shabi – there is nothing onto this reality. There’s nothing in its likeness of this reality. So, then the 11 begins to clarify the reality. The 11 is two 1s. 1 of Allah (AJ) – La ilaha illAllah, there is nothing like that. The 1 of Muhammadun Rasulullah ﷺ and there is nothing in creation like that reality.
“La ilaha illAllahu Muhammadun Rasulallah”
“There is no deity but Allah, Prophet Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.”
Ahad Turns into Wahid with the Waw of Wadood (Love)
That 1 is of a ‘Ahadiyya’ – the unique Oneness of Allah (AJ), the Creator that nothing is like unto it. Then Allah (AJ) created another 1, a reflection of the Ahad (The Only One) which is called Wahid (Unique One). It is an Ahad because it’s Allah’s (AJ) reflection of Ahad, but Allah put a waw and made it Wahid. So, the two 1s symbolize ‘Ahad’ and ‘Wahid’ and they both Ahad, but Allah put a waw.
So, for anyone wondering, why all over the Turkish zawiyahs (spiritual schools) you see ‘waw, waw, waw,’ wow because the secret is about waw. If you don’t know what wadood (love) and you don’t know about what love is, the Islam that you’re practicing is very shallow and very hollow. You didn’t get it yet because Allah (AJ) wanted to be known.
Qala Rasulallahi ﷺ, Qala Allah (AJ): “Kuntu kanzan makhfiyya, fa ahbabtu an a’rafa, fa khalaqtu khalqan, fa ‘arraftahum bi fa ‘arafonee.” [Hadith al Qudsi – Behar al Anwar, Al ‘Alama al Majlisi, Juz’ 84, Safha 199]
The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said, that Allah (AJ) said: “I was a hidden Treasure then I desired to be known, so I created a creation to which I made Myself known; then they knew Me.” [Holy Hadith – Bihar al Anwar, by Al ‘Alama al Majlisi, Volume 84, Page 199]
Tariqah is Simply the Path to Building Good Character
Allah (AJ) is reflecting His unique Oneness that can’t even be understood and its only key is waw. Our whole life is this…what is this waw? How are you going to reach to this unless you are from wadood and loving? Well, then that’s why it requires a school of character. ‘I don’t know if we’re going to follow the tariqah (spiritual path).’ You don’t have to follow anything, but are you doing anything in your life that is building good character? This is a school of character. Forget about the name and say, ‘Oh, my relatives are now telling us: don’t follow tariqah, don’t follow…’ Take out this word ‘tariqah’ because you seem to have been lost in translation like you’re reciting something from Chinese and put into it ‘good character’. Say, ‘Oh, we don’t want to follow good character anymore.’ Okay, that should make more sense to you.
So, when somebody come says, ‘You shouldn’t follow tariqah.’ [Second person] Say: ‘Okay, forget about the word ‘tariqah.’ Tariqah is just about waw, just about love, just about wadood. So, we shouldn’t follow a path of good character?’ [First person] ‘No, no absolutely not. Learn how to be obnoxious, angry and like animal-like characteristics.’ Because that’s what you say by its opposite, the rule of opposite. We shouldn’t study good character and love and the good attributes that make Allah (AJ) to be happy with us? This is the path of that reality, how to reach that reality.
Allah (AJ) is Not in the Heavens Nor on the Earth, But in the Heart of the Believer
So, this 11 is then its secret for us. That Allah (AJ) wants His La ilaha illAllah to be known and the only reflection that reflecting that is Muhammadun Rasulullah ﷺ. So, with all its realities, Allah (AJ) reflecting from that 1 of La ilaha illAllah into the reality of Muhammadun Rasulullah ﷺ. So, then our journey is into the ocean of Muhammadun Rasulullah ﷺ. Then those hadith come to describe where Allah (AJ) said: ‘If you entered into this journey of realities and into this journey of Muhammadun Rasulullah ﷺ, now Allah (AJ) defines in the hadith that: ‘I’m not in heaven, I’m not on Earth. I’m in the heart of my believer.’
‘An Wahab ibn Munabbeh, Qala Rasulallahi ﷺ, Qala Allah (AJ): “Maa wasi’anee laa samayee, wa la ardee, laakin wasi’anee qalbi ‘Abdi al Mu’min.” [Hadith al Qudsi, Al Ghazali fi al Ihyaa, wa Ibn ‘Arabi fi al Tarajim, Safha 224]
Narrated by Wahab the son of Munabbeh that the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said, that Allah (AJ) said: “Neither My Heavens nor My Earth can contain Me, but the heart of my Believing Servant.” [Holy Hadith, by Imam al-Ghazali in Al Ihya, and by Ibn ‘Arabi in al Tarajib, Page 224]
He’s giving now the coordinates for us. If you’re putting your soul, your love, your wujud to the love of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ to find the reality of La ilaha illAllah ﷺ, it’s Allah (AJ). Change other words where Allah (AJ) saying, ‘I’m a hidden treasure wanting to be known, and My La ilaha illAllah is not in heaven, My La ilaha illAllah is not on Earth, but it is in the heart of Muhammadun Rasulullah ﷺ.
To Find Allah (AJ), Our Soul Should Move Towards the Heart of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ
So, then to reach the reality and that’s why the teachings are all immense essences, the essence of Oneness. Because people say, ‘Oh, is this like…is this a shirk (polytheism)?’ No, this is actually so much the essence of Oneness. It’s blowing your head and you’re not understanding it. Because it’s so 1 that Allah’s (AJ) La ilaha illAllah is reflecting to “Muhammadun Rasulullah ﷺ” which completely keeps into the Oneness.
That, ‘You want to find Me, then you should be moving with your soul into the heart of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ.” In that reality, your soul is moving into that reality. Only in that reality of that qalb (heart), that center of power which everything is emanating. It’s the house of the holy speech that emanates Qur’an – Qur’an al Majeed from the heart of that reality. That’s why from that heart, the power of La ilaha illAllah is coming out which for us is a manifestation of the Qur’an which is not created. Otherwise, how its coming from this heart from the soul of Prophet ﷺ? How Qur’an is coming out? Because Allah (AJ) defined, ‘I’m in the heart. My La ilaha illAllah is in the heart of that reality.’
You Cannot Move Towards the Muhammadan Reality With Your Brain, Only Your Love
If you’re not in that reality, you’re in the imitated which is not really Wahid and it’s not an ocean of Oneness. It’s an imitated understanding outside of Muhammadun Rasulullah ﷺ. So, then this is the immensity of that love. This is the immensity of the purpose of these teachings of love, teachings of characteristics; how to make your salawats (praises upon Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ), how to make all of these durood (praising upon Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ), how to have these good characteristics so the soul can move into that presence, move into that reality.
It doesn’t move with bad characteristics. It doesn’t move with aqel and a brain. It moves by love and muhabbat because Prophet ﷺ said, ‘You’ll be with whom you love.’
Qala Rasulullah (saws): “Almar o, ma’a man ahab.”
Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said: “One is with those whom he loves.”
Our Teaching is to Strive for the Love of Allah (AJ) and Prophet ﷺ
Because the soul and ishq (love), they have their own coordinates. You can’t put and force anybody to love you with your head and keep telling them, ‘Oh I’m wonderful, I’m wonderful, I’m wonderful.’ You know, put yourself out there and hope people will love you. That’s why they taught differently in school when they say big ulama (scholar), ulama baba ji, baba ji, haji baji and he’s big ulama this, big… he has to make his own love for people to love them. They don’t understand the way of tariqah (spiritual path) where tell everybody you’re absolutely nothing, you’re a donkey. Ana abdukal ajeezu, dayeefu, miskin, wa zhalim, wa jahl.
You think any exterior scholar would ever deflate themself and efface themself? Because they’re too busy trying to make people love them. But they’re teaching, ‘You don’t have to care who loves you. It’s not about anyone loving you. But that Allah (AJ) love you and Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ to love you and the rest of creation will love because of that love.’ If Allah (AJ) loves the soul of that servant and emanate the realities within the soul and the heart of that servant, no doubt the love of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ is emanating from that reality. No doubt, there is a juzbah and attraction. That’s what attracts people to that reality; not that they made themself to go and force people, but the heart and soul of people are attracted. That’s why Prophet ﷺ describes, ‘You’ll be with whom you love.’
‘An Anasin (ra): … Faqala (Rasulullahi) ﷺ: “Anta ma’a man ahbabta.”
Narrated Anas ibn Malik (ra) that …the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said: “You will be with whom you love.” [Source: Muslim 7520]
Real Guides Teach Through the Heart, Not the Head
That these people of wadood – the way they teach, the way the energy and light emanates from them, it attracts a like character. It attracts a character that is going to be based on love and muhabbat and good characteristics. Like a magnet, it draws it in. They don’t draw anybody from head. Somebody come like, ‘I got fifty questions,’ you’re in the wrong door; go next door. They don’t sit there and debate you to get your head to understand this logic.
If you come like that, they say, ‘Oh, you know ahlan wa sahlan – I don’t think this is going to work.’ This what Qur’an said about Sayyidina Khidr (as) said, ‘I think this is where we part’ because someone with little knowledge has no patience for what’s going to be revealed.
18:78 – “Qaala haazaa firaaqu bainee wa bainik; sa unabi ‘uka bitaaweeli maa lam tastati’ ‘alaihi sabraa” (Surat Al-Kahf)
[Al-Khidhr] said, “This is parting between me and you. I will inform you of the interpretation of that about which you could not have patience.
Look for Opportunities to Show Love to Allah’s (AJ) Creation
So, this is a way of muhabbat (love). Allah (AJ) sends those whom their souls and their heart are seeking this Divine love; not romantic love. This is not dunya (material world). This is Divine love in which they been in so many difficulties, so many calamities, so many testings. They’ve given up on the world. They’ve been through difficulty. They know what sadness is. They have seen sadness. At that time, they’re yearning, ‘Ya Rabbi, I’ve been with all these different groups and I don’t find You there. I don’t find what I’m looking for.’
So, before in our path, we go to a masjid (mosque), after Jum’ah (Friday Prayer) come out, they were very mean to homeless people. So, I said, ‘What was all your Jum’ah for?’ You coming out to beat up the homeless? This was the effect and the blessings of your Jum’ah? They would shoo them away – ‘Get up, get up.’ But these are like pigeons that Allah (AJ) send for you to get your Jum’ah to be accepted because you come out at Jum’ah, who you’re going to find to give $2 to make your Jum’ah accepted? Because you have to give something so that it seals your practice. Allah (AJ) sent them like pigeons that you’re giving crumbs to. You’re not emptying your back account to these people. Even that one you don’t want to give a crumb? This can’t be Islam. Many have seen that and they walked away from it say, ‘What is…people crazy.’
Have You Been Hit With Divine Love Yet?
Then they cry out to their lord, ‘Ya Rabbi, I need from what I heard. I read from this seerah (life of Prophet ﷺ): the companions were sitting around Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ with immense love, enjoying and loving and laughing, fighting and struggling.’ So, they have a yearning for muhabbat. They’re not looking for aqel (intellect). They’re not looking for the way of the head and make something logical to me. That’s a different door. You go somewhere else for that.
This is ishq and muhabbat. Only through that, they come and the speed of a magnet, they’re able to be attracted. That’s why families, friends they don’t understand, ‘Oh, what happen? One day, you were like this. Now you’re wearing their green turban like them?’ Yeah, the love hit me, hit me like a rocket ‘pow’ [laughter]. Yeah, ‘psh’ who can stop that love? Because Allah (AJ) and Prophet ﷺ say what? “Qul in kuntum tuhibbon Allaha fattabi’oni, yuhbibkumUllah.” ‘If you follow that way, I will love you.’
3:31 – “Qul in kuntum tuhibbon Allaha fattabi’uni, yuhbibkumullahu…” (Surat Ali ‘Imran)
“Say, [O Muhammad], “If you should love Allah, then follow me, [so] Allah will love you …” (Family of Imran, 3:31)
Nobody Can Stop Allah’s (AJ) Love!
If Allah (AJ) start to dress your soul with love, can anyone stop it? If Prophet ﷺ says that, ‘You’ll be with whom you love,’ it means I’m accepting this love that you’re coming to me, empty and heart broken. I love you.’ Like a magnet, you’re running. You’re growing your beard. You’re putting your turban. You’re dropping everything else. That you look now, you’re from the moon. Remember what you look like when we saw you in Surrey?
So, handsome debonair guy, now baba ji – official baba ji, big…[laughter]. Yeah, that means he’s caught the love. The love has got him, grabbed him. They don’t care how much pounding you get from the outside world because the love…all these poetry, you have to put it into effect. The moth to the flame is following the sunnah (Prophetic ﷺ traditions).
“Niyam Parwana e Aatash, ke paro baal e khud sozam
Manam Parwana e Sultan, ke bar anwar megardam”
“I am not a moth of the fire to burn my wings
I am a moth of the King, thus I roam in lights”
[Mawlana Jalaluddin Balkhi (Rumi)]
Be Like the Moth to the Flame of Divine Love
What does it mean – the moth to the flame? That you shave your beard? Is that what the moth meant? Or the moth is go to the flame means you start entering this fire, everybody going to attack you – ‘Why you look like this? Why you act like this? Why you sit like this? Why you have a tasbih (prayer beads) now?’ Because the love has caught you and all you can think about is, ‘I have to burn. My destiny is this flame and this ishq (love). My destiny…I see the presence of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ and I have to go. I have to move into that reality.’ That’s the fire; not walking away from everything but to adorn everything.
We said the green dome of Madina is you realize that love I have to put it. I have to resemble it. It burns within me. I’m lost within that now. That poetry makes sense that the moth is just flying. That love that he sees is the presence of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ and the moth will go into it, regardless if its wings and everything is burning from it. We pray that Allah (AJ) ignite our hearts in this holy month and grant us this ishq and muhabbat and that it burns strong within the heart. This love for His Divinely Presence which manifests in the love for Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ in which the person to be caught. When their heart is ignited and caught, nothing, inshaAllah, extinguishes it.
Subhana rabbika rabbal ‘izzati ‘amma yasifoon, wa salaamun ‘alal mursaleen, walhamdulillahi rabbil ‘aalameen. Bi hurmati Muhammad al-Mustafa wa bi siri Surat al-Fatiha.
