Ramadan is the Month of Reflection, Sacrifice, and Spiritual Ascension
From the Realities of Mawlana (Q) as taught by Shaykh Nurjan Mirahmadi.
A’uzu Billahi Minash Shaitanir Rajeem
Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem
I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan
In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful
Alhamdulillahi Rabbil ‘aalameen, was salaatu was salaamu ‘alaa Ashrafil Mursaleen, Sayyidina wa Mawlana Muhammadul Mustafa ﷺ.
Always a reminder for myself, ana abdukal ‘ajeez, wa dayeef, wa miskin, wa zhalim, wa jahl, and but for the grace of Allah (AJ) that we’re still in existence.
4:59 – “…Atiullaha wa atiur Rasula wa Ulil amre minkum…” (Surat an-Nisa)
“…Obey Allah, obey the Messenger, and those in authority among you…” (The Women, 4:59)
The Divine Blessings of Ramadan and Sifat al-Muntaqim (The Attribute of Avenger)
Alhamdulillah, Allah’s (AJ) grace and mercy and the blessings of Ramadan, inshaAllah to be upon us, our families, our children, our communities; inshaAllah that Allah’s (AJ) immense lights. A reminder for myself that we talked last night that in Ramadan sifat al-Muntaqim – Allah’s (AJ) Attribute and Name: ‘The Avenger’ in which to avenge His servant, opens up on the month of Ramadan. That Name of Allah (AJ) encompasses the servant as soon as they make intention to fast the Ramadan. Why Ramadan has so much blessings and ease and any other day of the year you try to fast it is very difficult? Because your devils don’t let you, won’t let you. They block every type of, ‘Oh don’t do it, don’t you can’t.’ But because of sifat al-Muntaqim and the blessings of Ramadan that Allah (AJ) immediately that attribute comes and begin to hit the nafs (ego), hit the shaitans (satans). So that the servant can serve Allah (AJ).
With that immense blessings a reminder that, ‘Ya Rabbi from the dress of Al-Muntaqim that You allowed me to fast and allowed me to regain my position in Your Divinely Presence where You’ll bring my nafs to be nothing. You’ll dress me from Your oceans of Divine favors and Grace and Majesty.’ This is an immense blessing, immense gift. It is immensely sad for servants for Allah (AJ) that don’t want to fast and don’t find the importance of the fast, have a fear of the fast. All we can do for our loved ones is cry that, ‘Ya Rabbi they don’t know what type of gift You’re granting. People become heedless and think that it doesn’t matter but they don’t know that what You’re going to dress and what You’re going to take off difficulties.’ We can only watch as a spectator in this life. How people put difficulty upon themself.
As Al-Muntaqim Burns Away the Badness, Sayyidina Dhul Fadl ﷺ (The Possessor of Grace) Dresses with Grace
We pray that Allah (AJ) dress them and bless them, inspire them towards goodness. If Allah (AJ) see any good in what we do to give to them and to dress them. From that immense light and immense blessing Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ – Sayyidina Dhul Fadl ﷺ. That a life without the love of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ is to be devoid of very rahmah (mercy) and barakah and blessing. That Allah (AJ) made everything to be beatific for the reality of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, give insan (mankind) every opportunity for the sake of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. Because He wants to make Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ to be happy. He (AJ) granted him ﷺ to be a King and said: ‘All this creation is your kingdom and I won’t fill your kingdom with badness and wretchedness. I will give them every opportunity to be washed, to be cleansed and to be purified.’ Look how many holy nights Allah (AJ) give to us as an opportunity that, ‘Here come this night, you’ll be cleaned. Come this night and your one day fast will be 360 days fast. Come this night and pray as if you prayed all your life. Come meditate one hour and you’ll be given the dress of seventy years of worship.’ All these rahmah and mercy from Allah (AJ) so that not to make the kingdom of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ filled with a dirtiness. This is an immense blessing.
In the middle of this Muntaqim, Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ enters into our reality and sifat al-Dhul Fadl begin to spread the grace of Allah (AJ) ‘Ana Qasim.’ Prophet ﷺ taught his companions: ‘Ana Qasim,’ I don’t just distribute camels for people. ‘Ana Qasim that whatever Allah (AJ) want to give He give to my soul and I disperse it.’ Rabbil Mumineen wa Rabbil Kafireen (Lord of believers and unbelievers) – he makes no distinction. He gave all, all of this creation lights and blessings.
ʿAn Husayn: …”Fa innama buʿistu Qasiman, aqsimu baynakum.” [Sahih Muslim 2133c, Kitab 38, Hadith 5]
Husain (ra) reported: “I have been sent as a distributor, so I distribute amongst you.” [ Sahih Muslim 2133c, Book 38, Hadith 5]
Prophet ﷺ is a rahmah for all of creation.
21:107 – “Wa maa arsalnaka illa Rahmatan lil’alameen.” (Surat Al Anbiya)
“And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a mercy to the worlds.” (Holy Quran, The Prophets 21:107)
Ramadan is a Month to Do Good Deeds Because Allah (AJ) is Blessing Immensely
Imagine then those whom trying to keep the way of Allah (AJ) and sifat al-Dhul Fadl comes into their life and dresses with grace. What Allah (AJ) is burning away of bad characters, sifat (attribute) of Prophet ﷺ comes and begin to dress with rahmah and grace and love and majesty, beatific lights and beatific fragrances. The extent of ‘Ana Qasim,’ Sayyidina Al-Qasim ﷺ is unimaginable of whatever Allah (AJ) want to give; He is distributing that reality through the soul of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. Allah (AJ) in the holy month of Ramadan give even more on top of that, that can’t be imagined. Whatever the network and system that has been established to give and to distribute Allah (AJ) promise in Ramadan, ‘I Give you beyond imagination, beyond imagination.’
Then that is a month in which we try our best to do good deeds, pray for those who didn’t reach that understanding, forgot its understanding. It is a month in which to do good actions, good deeds in which Allah (AJ) is already dispersing so much immense blessings. On top of that whatever we do imagine then how much that is being wrapped up in those blessings and in that immense dress of realities. We pray that Allah (AJ) give us strength and good health in which to observe these holy days and to observe its holy nights. That to have an ‘ishq (love) for the Divinely Presence, a rahmah – a mercy for all of creation and that Allah (AJ) to be pleased with us. “ilahi anta maqsudi wa radhaaka matloobi.” I beg Your forgiveness and seek Your satisfaction and Your happiness in myself and in my character, in my actions and in my deeds.
“ilahi anta maqsudi wa radhaaka matloobi”
“My God, You are my aim, and Your Satisfaction is what I seek.”
Life is a Continuous Struggle & Our Strength Lies in Rising After Every Hardship
That Allah (AJ) to look at us with a happiness. That Allah (AJ) complete His ni’mat (blessing) upon us means complete His Divinely favors that, ‘Everything I wanted to give to you, I want to dress you with, I want to be pleased with that dress. That you be pleased with that dress.’ We pray that Allah (AJ) dress us from these dresses, grant us from these lights, and inspire within our hearts our struggle. Many emails coming in and describing how difficult and this is difficult and everything is difficult. Always a reminder for myself it is difficult for everyone and everyone is facing all their own difficulties.
Tariqah (spiritual path) comes to remind us that our life is about the struggle. It means the victory is in Allah’s (AJ) hands because only Allah (AJ) knows what victory is. When Allah (AJ) is the only one who knows what His victory is for that servant and we’re left with just a ball of struggling. Our life is to struggle, to struggle, to keep getting up from every time something is being knocked down, to keep moving, to keep moving. To keep trying to do more, try to do better, try to make our target always the Divinely Presence and our akhirah (hereafter) reality.
Use the Time You’ve been Given on this Earth to Build Your House in Hereafter
That we spent so much time trying to build the dunya (material world) reality but we’re asking, ‘Ya Rabbi, that whatever we do in this dunya make it to be a brick by brick for my home in paradise.’ When that home is ready Allah (AJ) send you a notice that: ‘Your home is ready My servant! That, come home.’ You can’t go back when something is not ready then it would be a sense of difficulty. So, everything that we do in this life it is with intention to have in our akhirah. It means that whatever we’re doing, Ya Rabbi grant me good sustenance, grant me rizq (sustenance), grant me health, grant me the ability to do. Grant me the ability to serve so that I take my portion, my family portion and I give back in Your way. So that each brick by brick I’m building my house in paradise.
If You Love Prophet ﷺ, He Will Welcome You in Hereafter
That each thing that I’m doing and every service that I’m doing, every time that I’m sacrificing in your way, Ya Rabbi open my heart to the love of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. So that when I take my last breath, I know that who will be greeting me on the other side. Not the abode of nothingness and difficulty. But all those whom I loved and I spent my years in my life in their madad (support) and in their spiritual presence, Ya Rabbi to raise me on my last breath in their presence. To raise me in my last breath in the presence of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, to raise me in the presence of Ahlul Bayt (Holy Family of Prophet ﷺ) wa Ashab an Nabi ﷺ (Holy companions of Prophet ﷺ ) and they be pleased with me. I tried my best. Where I came short, I ask for forgiveness, what I couldn’t accomplish of what I had to accomplish.
If You’re Doing Your Best, Why Fear the Storms Ahead?
We don’t know how much time is left on this earth. Some may think its years, it could be minutes. We pray that Allah (AJ) continue to give us a himmah – a zeal in which to achieve what we have to achieve and not to be heedless. I don’t know how anyone could be heedless seeing the face of death everywhere. Every moment emails are coming in: ‘This one is sick and they’re dying, this one is sick and they’re not breathing,’ and this is just the beginning. One after another of white death, red death will be coming.
Qala Amirul Mumineen Imam ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib (as): “bayna yadai alqaayimi mawtun ahmar wa mawtun abyad. Famma almawtul ahmar fabeyssayif wa ammal mawtul abyad fabil taa’oon.” [ An Nu’mani, Safha 286]
The Leader of the believers Imam ‘Ali Ibn Abi Talib (as) said: “Before the arrival of the Qaayim (uprising) of Imam Mahdi (as), there will be the ‘red death’ and ‘white death’. The ‘Red death’ is by the sword, and the ‘white death’ is by plague.” [An Numani Page: 286]
There is not enough vaccines to shoot yourself for all of the different variations of sicknesses that are coming. With all of that we face as our horizon then we should be thinking of, ‘Ya Rabbi whatever I’m doing in this dunya that are You happy with me? Make it a means in which to reach towards Your satisfaction.’ When we have that sense in our life, we did the best that we could then what is there to fear, what is there to be worried about? We pray that Allah (AJ) give us a heart in this month of Ramadan to understand, do the most that we can do, to establish the most that we can establish. That Allah’s (AJ) rida and satisfaction on pay day – on Eid is to grant us these lights, grant us these blessings, make us to be pure and purified. Prepare us for the arrival of Sayyidina Mahdi (as) and for whatever this dunya has in store for us.
Subhana rabbika rabbal ‘izzati ‘amma yasifoon, wa salaamun ‘alal mursaleen, walhamdulillahi rabbil ‘aalameen. Bi hurmati Muhammad al-Mustafa ﷺ wa bi siri Surat al-Fatiha.
