Muharram is the Month of No Haram
A reminder always for myself that, alhamdulillah, ten holy days of Hajj and now moving into, by next Wednesday inshaAllah, the holy month of Muharram. That the month of no haram (forbidden) and alhamdulillah, that we try our best in life to be from the people of light, the people of eternity. A reminder always for myself, in this busy world with all of its allurements and it’s catchiness. That constantly trying to remind ourselves that we are from eternity. There is an eternal message.
Everything and every prophet came with a message for his nation and came with an eternal piece of an entire puzzle. That the people of malakut (heavenly realm), they exist within the mulk (earthly realm). It means that the people of the heavens, they know that they exist on the Earth and they have heard the messages from the earthly realm. But always a reminder within the spiritual realm and the realm of light, that how to improve ourselves, that every messenger came with a piece of that puzzle.
Muharram is Signified By the Hijrah of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ
The importance and the holiness of Muharram is that it is our New Year. It is the year in which the Islamic calendar begins signified by the hijrah (migration) of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. That for us, we welcome that month. InshaAllah, coming Wednesday, that you shower, recommending for myself that I shower, that every month when it comes in to enter into the shower that, ‘Ya Rabbi, that all I can do is wash away, by example, these sins with water. That let Your rahmah (mercy), that the showers of Your real rahmah to dress me and take away my sins and prepare me for the holiness of this holy month.’
That we step into that month with the right foot that’s moving toward our ma’rifah (gnosticism). That I want to make a hijrah to your Divinely Presence, to the presence of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, Ashab un Nabi ﷺ (holy companions of Prophet ﷺ), Ahlul Baytin Nabi ﷺ (Holy Family of the Prophet ﷺ), and to be always in the company of those whom You are pleased with of your awliyaullah fi sama wa fi al ard, from the heavens and from the Earth. That its significance in our life is that that eternal journey begins and is a reminder that this hijrah in our life is continuous, that for every ending there must be a beginning.
Hajj Notifies Us That Muharram is an Opening of Lights
The Hajj was not an ending point, but a point in which to notify us that Muharram is opening. Again, begin your divinely journey and eternal journey into Allah’s (AJ) Divinely Presence. That to constantly be moving towards purification and that our stations to be raised higher and higher. It means trying to always improve ourselves.
Then Muharram comes and they begin to inspire within us that just from the lataif (energy points) of the heart and the importance of the six big prophets of Allah (AJ). All the prophets are important, but with limited time and limited understanding, that Sayyidina Adam (as), the importance of Muharram for us to understand in which Ashura, which they describe as Ashe Nura meaning there’s going to be granting a light.
Sayyidina Adam (as) was Granted Forgiveness on Ashura
Every nation was granted a forgiveness and with Allah’s (AJ) forgiveness like two edge. That if Allah (AJ) grants a forgiveness, it doesn’t come empty. What Allah (AJ) grants is that nur and that light. Allah’s (AJ) rida and satisfaction that Sayyidina Adam (as), his repentance was accepted on Ashura. It means then with all our focus on eternity, ‘Ya Rabb, that my eternal journey to your Divinely Presence. That grant me my maghfirah (forgiveness) as You granted to Sayyidina Adam (as)’ because we are under their dress.
You mention them. You remember their lives, tanzil ur rahmah (descending mercy). That Allah (AJ) has no time. There’s no watch up there. It means there must be an eternal rahmah (mercy) that always is flowing. It’s like hijab (veil). That when this Earth and this existence of us moves into a certain buruj, into a certain constellation, there is a tremendous dress. That dress was so significant that Allah (AJ), on Ashura, granted the forgiveness of Sayyidina Adam (as).
Ask to Be Granted a Ship of Safety Like Sayyidina Nuh (as)
So, a reminder for ourselves that when we are washing and praying and cleansing ourselves to welcome the holy month of Muharram, that we try to struggle and strive with the most amount of actions in that month. Our fasting, our praying, everything that we are doing, ‘Ya Rabbi, grant me as You granted Sayyidina Adam (as). Grant me a forgiveness. Grant me Your lights and Your blessings.’
Then we come to the lataif (energy points) of – that was from the qalb (heart) and into the sir (secret) of the heart, Sayyidina Nuh (as). Sayyidina Nuh (as) built a ship of faith. Ya Rabbi, You granted his, alayhis salaam, ship a safety on Ashura. It means that once the ship went sailing, 40 days of rain and on Ashura, Allah (AJ) granted that ship to land to safety. It means that ship is the ship of faith and our soul. That ‘Ya Rabbi, if You are granting the ocean of forgiveness in this holy month and You are granting my soul to be safe on this holy month. As You gave to Sayyidina Nuh (as), grant me, ya Rabbi.’
Seek to Be Granted Safety From the Fire of Anger Like Sayyidina Ibrahim (as)
Then we come to Sayyidina Ibrahim (as) and Sayyidina Ibrahim (as) comes into our life, “Qulna ya naaru, kunee Bardan wa Salaman ‘ala Ibrahim.”
(Surat Al-Anbiya)
“We said, O fire, be cool and Peaceful upon Abraham.” (The Prophets, 21:69)
That he was under tremendous oppression. If that was oppression, then imagine the oppression of today. How much difficulty? How much temptation? How many things are opening into the dunya (material world) that we are not seeing but are constantly weighing us into negativity, constantly weighing us down into not correct choices?
These are from unseen. When they become seen, everybody will lose their mind. But from unseen, the amount of negativity that’s coming, ‘Ya Rabbi, grant me from Qulna ya naaru, kunee Bardan wa Salaman ‘ala Ibrahim as You granted to Sayyidina Ibrahim (as). That grant me, ya Rabbi, a safety from this fire.’ It means that every time that we are making wudu (ablution) and we are washing, ‘Ya Rabbi, take away the fire of ghadhab. Take away the fire of anger that make You to be upset with me if that anger exists within me.’
Does Your Heart See All the Difficulty in Dunya?
It means that Muharram, its weight is something that can’t be imagined. We are asking in these ten days. We are asking on behalf of all of what You have granted to all the nations of Your creation, we have not yet come to the best of nations, the nation of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. That, ‘Ya Rabbi, grant me as you granted Sayyidina Ibrahim (as) a freedom from this oppression and from that fire. That make the fire that shaitan (satan) and shayateen and everything in this dunya (material world), make it to be cool and peaceful for me.’
It means big rahmah (mercy) of Allah (AJ). That although they are all around you, their fire and anger won’t affect you. You will be cool and peaceful. That is now in today’s world, but we are not understanding because maybe we don’t have a heart that sees. If the heart that sees and sees how much difficulty is around us, you would go crazy. If we could see the amount of negativity around us, we would definitely go mad. That is one of the great gifts of Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem; not so much what Allah (AJ) gave us, but what Allah (AJ) kept away from us. If we could see at night how many difficult things are all around us, how many horrible energies are constantly everywhere, but with Allah’s (AJ) rahmah, they are away. They are not affecting you like they are affecting other people.
Horrible Energies are Visible to Those Whose Veils Have Been Lifted
If you don’t believe, then go to the mental hospital. It is highly recommended to enter into a facility in which the ‘aqel (intellect) is no longer working. 90% of them of what they describe is true and real and a hijab and a veil has been lifted from them and they say things that people of basirah (spiritual vision), they know. They know what they are saying. ‘I see this crawling. I see this flying. I see these things all over the wall. I see this. I see this.’ You are correct what you see.
But this dunya (material world) is not going to tolerate so they say ‘Hmm, ajeeb.’ No, but they are correct in what they see. They see things they are not supposed to see through drug and alcohol abuse. These veils have been lifted and they can’t defend themselves because once you see something, you can’t defend yourself from it unless you have a spiritual energy. It means that if you see a shayateen or you see something that is not pleasing to you and it sees that you see it, it now begins to come after you and your mind has no capacity to defend yourself. That’s why they don’t open these veils unless the person’s spirituality is powerful enough to repel. Their energy is so powerful that those shayateen dare not approach that energy, otherwise they will be burned.
Sayyidina Musa’s (as) Nation was Saved on Ashura
But the difficulties are everywhere. That’s Allah’s (AJ) rahmah (mercy). That’s “Qulna ya naaru, kunee Bardan wa Salaman” (Holy Qur’an, 21:69). That ‘Ya Rabbi, whatever is opening on this dunya (material world) that you have created of good and bad, protect me from its bad. Protect me from its anger and from its difficulty.’ Sayyidina Musa (as) – because Sayyidina Ibrahim (as) and Sayyidina Musa (as) operate from the same lataif, the sirr-e-sir (secret of the secret).
That Sayyidina Musa (as) comes into our life and says, ‘Yes, if Allah (AJ) frees you from Fir’aun (Pharoah). Allah (AJ) saved my nation on Ashura.’ It means that Allah (AJ) parted the sea and granted me access to his Heavenly Kingdom.
Our Energy Collapses When We Operate in the Dunya Realm
It means that when we operate from the realm of mulk (earthly realm) and the dunya (material world), if Allah (AJ) parts the ocean for us, it means I’m going to take your arwah and your soul unto its heavenly station because now is coming the ascension and the mi’raj towards realities.
That ya Rabbi, as You saved Sayyidina Ibrahim (as) and as you saved Nabi Musa (as) and parted the sea, it means take me from this dunya existence and Ruhisiba – Mawlana (Q) gives the name of the angel that Allah (AJ) sends for you to lift your soul like the island of realities. It means the realm of the barzakh (purgatory) and the realm of dunya, that if Allah (AJ) opens and parts the seas, it means that the angel comes and lifts your soul on its reality. From your reality station, you are operating in this dunya. If not, you are always in the realm of dunya and under the effect of dunya. It means that if these energies begin to come, they begin to collapse that person.
Come Through Baab e Siddiq to Enter the Presence Sultanan Naseera
It means that we pray ya Rabbi, grant us from that eternity. Each prophet had a physical, but a much more important eternal piece of the puzzle. That on this Muharram, ya Rabbi, part Your oceans. Part that which is separating me from Your safety shores and grant me safety, Sultanan Naseera (Victorious King). Grant me a presence into your authorized Sultan (King). Allah (AJ) begins to lift the soul from its dunya (material world) reality and brings it toward its malakut (heavenly realm) reality that is now coming into the presence of the Sultan.
If the soul is entering and moving into the presence of the Sultan, it will be granted an authority from the presence of Prophet ﷺ, Sultanan Naseera. What we said in Surah Isra, Baab e Siddiq (the Door of Truthful), that ya Rabbi, let me to leave from Baab e Siddiq and come back from Baab e Siddiq and in the presence of Sultanan Naseera.
17:80 – “Wa qul Rabbi adkhelni mudkhala Sidqin wa akhrejni mukhraja Sidqin waj’al li min ladunka Sultanan NaSeera.” (Surat Al-Isra)
“Say: O my Lord! Let my entry be by the Gate of Truth and Honour, and likewise my exit by the Gate of Truth and Honour; and grant me from Your Presence a Victorious King to aid (me).” (The Night Journey, 17:80)
Allah (AJ) Raised Sayyidina Isa (as) to the Divinely Presence
It means that Authorized Sultan, that if Prophet ﷺ authorizes that individual, stamps that individual, their soul is an authorized soul. It means this is then the power of Muharram. Nabi Musa (as) reminds us that you make a du’a (supplication), that Allah (AJ) part those seas and bring your soul onto its safety shores and to be reaching the Divinely lights.
Then Sayyidina Isa (as) comes into our life and says that, ‘If Allah (AJ) granted you what Nabi Musa (as) told you, then Allah (AJ) is going to grant what He granted to me.’ Ya Rabbi, as you granted Sayyidina Isa (as) his ascension. It means that as the world came to crucify Sayyidina Isa (as), Allah (AJ) raised him to his Sultanan Naseera (Victorious King), to His Divinely Presence. That as this dunya (material world) is coming to crucify you because they can’t take your haqq, they can’t take your truthfulness. They can’t take your light. That you come into My Divinely Presence and nothing is going to crucify you.
Ask to Ascend to the Heavenly Kingdom Like Sayyidina Isa (as)
It means there is an eternal message in the prophets. That if Allah (AJ) is granting you safety shores, they are clarifying that where He is granting? He is granting you into His Divinely Presence. Sayyidina Isa (as) teaches then that at that time, your soul will be taught on how to elevate itself into Allah’s (AJ) Divinely Presence, Heavenly Kingdom. Because no sharik (partner).
It is a Heavenly Kingdom in which Allah (AJ) grants the dress and the lights upon the soul and then come to the Sultan (King) of creation. It means what You granted for Sayyidina Isa (as), grant me that ascension. What you granted now for Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ? What did You grant for Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ? One small understanding which is the greatest understanding: you granted Madinatul Munawwarah (luminous city of Prophet ﷺ).
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ Taught Us to Love All the Prophets
That Prophet ﷺ entered into the City of Lights on Ashura. It means these are all confirmations of the same journey. That’s what they want us to understand when they say, “Innad deena ‘indAllahil Islam” is that every prophet came to be a piece of the complete puzzle.
﴾إِنَّ الدِّيْنَ عِنْدَ اللهِ الإِسْلاَمُ…﴿١٩
3:19 – “Innad deena ‘indAllahil Islam.” (Surat Ali-Imran)
“The religion with God is Islam [Submission]…” (Family of Imran, 3:19)
Not one of them was complete by themselves. But showing no, no, we have an eternal piece of a puzzle that all humanity is in need of and only Islam brings because each of the other nations only have the other puzzle. Only Prophet ﷺ brought the khatam. He brought all the pieces of all the nations because he taught us to love all the prophets. You can’t get the prophet. You can’t get the puzzle if you don’t have a love for Sayyidina Isa (as). Prophet ﷺ brought that love for us. That you must love Sayyidina Isa (as) and he must give you that piece of ascension. He must come into your life and teach you how to raise your soul into Allah’s (AJ) Divinely Presence.
Struggle Like the Holy Family of Prophet ﷺ to Remain in Madinatul Munawwarah
If you raise your soul into Allah’s (AJ) Divinely Presence, Prophet ﷺ is teaching now, come into my City of Lights – Madinatul Munawwarah (luminous city of Prophet ﷺ). That I dress you from these lights, bless you from these lights and begin to teach you lifelong process of annihilation. Because now the Ahlul Bayt (as) and Ashab un Nabi ﷺ, each one of them were martyred because then the understanding of the ascension into the City of Lights.
What then the family of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ come and teach us? Ashura and Karbala and all the companions, they had their own Karbala. They all died. They all suffered. They all struggled. Prophet ﷺ is teaching that is the reality of this City of Lights. They’re going to teach how to annihilate yourself, how to struggle with yourself, how to crush yourself so that you can always remain in the City of Lights.
Mercy Was Granted to Sayyidina Muhammad’s ﷺ Family at a Tremendous Cost
Then later, we will talk about the greatness of what Sayyidina Imam Hussain (as) was given. There was an eternal message in what he (as) was given. There is an event but there is an eternal reality upon it. We pray that Allah (AJ) grant us to see the holy month of Muharram, grant us the ‘amal (good deed) that is pleasing to His Divinely Presence in the ten days of Muharram. That we are able to fast in welcoming Muharram which would be Wednesday which is the opening of Muharram. Anybody wishing to fast on Wednesday, to be dressed by its opening and as much as people can fast during the ten days of Muharram. Then the 9th definitely to fast for the openings of Ashura and the lights of Ashura and what Imam Hussain (as) and what all the nations, what we described was the Ashura of all the prophets.
That all the prophets were given a forgiveness and were granted lights and elevations and shows the maqam and the station of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. That what type of forgiveness was granted to the nation of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ but at the cost of the suffering of the holy companions and the Holy Family. That their forgiveness was at a tremendous cost. We pray that Allah (AJ) dress us from those lights, bless us from those lights, give us a himmah (zeal) in which to fast, to receive these lights and ‘amal to be good in which Allah (AJ) to dress us and bless us from those lights. Then fasting Ashura and having our majlis on the 10th, inshaAllah, of Ashura.
Subhana rabbika rabbal ‘izzati ‘amma yasifoon, wa salaamun ‘alal mursaleen, walhamdulillahi rabbil ‘aalameen. Bi hurmati Muhammad al-Mustafa wa bi siri Surat al-Fatiha.
