Most of Us are Walking Dead on Earth
From the Realities of Mawlana (Q) as taught by Shaykh Nurjan Mirahmadi
A’uzu Billahi Minash Shaitanir Rajeem
Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem
I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan
In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful
Alhamdulillahi Rabbil ‘aalameen, was salaatu was salaamu ‘alaa Ashrafil Mursaleen, Sayyidina wa Mawlana Muhammadul Mustafa ﷺ.
Always a reminder for myself, ana abdukal ‘ajeez, wa dayeef, wa miskin, wa zhalim, wa jahl, and but for the grace of Allah (AJ) that we’re still in existence.
4:59 – “…Atiullaha wa atiur Rasula wa Ulil amre minkum…” (Surat an-Nisa)
“…Obey Allah, obey the Messenger, and those in authority among you…” (The Women, 4:59)
Shaitan Builds Our Ego, Tariqah Brings It Down
As soon as we posted again the talks on the way towards the reality is our way of non-existence. That we live a life in an ocean of duality. This world of mulk (earthly realm) and form, it’s meant to separate and create individual units. Shaitan’s job is to come to each individual unit and say, ‘You’re the greatest. You’re the best’ and make something that is literally non-existent to feel that it’s the most important thing ever created. Because you go into space and you see that Earth and that we’re a drop on the Earth. The Earth is a drop within a galaxy. The galaxy is a drop within an entire universe, infinitely keeps going up and we infinitely become smaller. That little drop, shaitan’s whole goal is to make it think it’s something.
Tariqah (spiritual path) comes by a ni’mat (blessing) and a gift from the Divinely Presence to remind humanity to be nothing. This countering of what shaitan wants to build to people from childhood and pumping, pumping, pumping. Tariqahs come and inspire the servants of Allah (AJ) that take a path in which to be nothing. Deflate yourself. Continuously tell yourself that you’re nothing. In that nothingness, you can reach God’s everythingness. That’s the amazing reality of something that we say one thing, it’s actually opening the different.
Ask For Prophet’s ﷺ Light to Enter Your Heart
The more that we build ourselves and pump ourselves up, the more we’re actually separating and moving away from what Allah (AJ) has destined for us. The reality that when we come and we deflate and efface and negate ourselves, ‘I’m nothing. I’m not really important. I know my sins, ya Rabbi. I’m nothing. I’m nothing. Really, I’m nothing, ya Rabbi. Let that light to enter my heart. Let the light of Prophet ﷺ to enter my heart. Let my shaykh’s lights enter into my heart. Come into my heart and clean my ka’bah. Come into my being and let Your light to enter within me and to clean me, to fix me, to dress me. The more I can efface and become nothing, the more His light can magnify within myself. That’s the prayer that all the prophets made, ‘Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in heaven.’
“…Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on Earth as it is in heaven…” – The Lord’s Prayer
Be With Nabiyeen, Siddiqeen, Shuhada, Saliheen to Be With Allah (AJ) (Holy Qur’an, 4:69)
For God’s kingdom to come and that’s why Allah (AJ) describes that if you want to be with Me, Allah (AJ), Allah (AJ) is the kingdom, is the whole Divinely Presence embodied by a name called, ‘Alif, lam, lam, hay’; which Allah (AJ) is all encompassing name, in which Allah’s (AJ) name and attributes want to be known. Allah (AJ) then describes, “If you want to be with Me, you have to be with Nabiyeen, siddiqeen, shuhadai, was saliheen.”
4:69 – “Wa man yuti’ Allaha war Rasola faolayeka ma’al ladheena an’ama Allahu ‘alayhim minan Nabiyeena, was Siddiqeena, wash Shuhadai, was Saliheena wa hasuna olayeka rafeeqan.” (Surat An-Nisa)
“And whoever obeys Allah and the Messenger (pbuh) are in the company of those on whom Allah has bestowed His Favours/Blessings – of the prophets, the sincere Truthful, the witnesses to the truth (who testify), and the Righteous, and excellent are those as companions.” (The Women, 4:69)
You have to be with the prophets (as) and the truthful companions of the holy prophets (as). You have to be with the martyrs those whom they sacrificed themselves so that they could reach God’s satisfaction and the saliheen, the righteous servants of Allah (AJ) and I am with them. So, it means that if Allah (AJ) want us to be dressed with them, blessed with them to reach towards them, then this path of ours is how to keep their company, how to continuously keep that light in our heart. That we’re asking Allah (AJ) to come.
Shuhada, Those Whom are Martyred, are Very Much Alive (Holy Qur’an, 2:154)
That’s why Allah (AJ) gives these categories, ‘I’m with them but to just bring Me…’ First, you know, just bring Allah’s (AJ) light completely into your heart. We’re doing so many things in error, so many things that are incorrect, so many things that are not to perfection. Allah (AJ) then wants for us a protocol that, ‘If I’m with nabiyeen, I’m with siddiqeen, I’m with shuhada and saliheen, find the group closest to you which are the saliheen, like a rope.’ That grab on to the groups of saliheen because most likely, if they’re saliheen and they’re pious and they’re righteous in their acts and in their deeds and in their character, most likely they are connected to these shuhada.
Shuhada are those whom they sacrifice themselves. That they sacrificed themselves for Allah (AJ) and importance on this level of shuhada is that they went for jihad. As a result of their jihad and their fight, they died in the way of Allah (AJ). Somebody emailed as soon as these subjects come up that, ‘Oh, is this the madad (support) and calling upon people who have passed away? Is this a shirk?’ Right here, you’ve now established the Wahhabi madhab (school of Islamic law). This is the greatest deceit in their reason why shaitan uses that madhab to deceive Muslims from the belief and from the entire reality of Islam. That this shuhada and those whom are martyred, Allah (AJ) said, ‘Don’t deem them dead. They’re very much alive.’
(Surat Al-Baqarah)
“And do not say about those who are killed in the way of Allah, “They are dead.” Rather, they are alive, but you perceive [it] not.” (The Cow, 2:154)
Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ is Alive and Everywhere
Those are the ones whom they died in war. Now which is a greater war: the fighting against enemies or the fighting against yourself? What Prophet ﷺ described to his holy companions? Because they accompany the messenger of Allah (AJ) and they have to make sure that the message and the will of Allah (AJ) is conveyed. They fought two battles a day on average and they were dying fiercely fighting, fiercely. No life insurance. They put everything in their life for that service and for survival, for the protection and the love of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. So, the station of the martyrs is not something that can be imagined. They martyred their way in the way of Allah (AJ) and Allah (AJ) saying, ‘I’m with them. Be with them.’ Why? Because these martyrs, they are alive. They’re alive in their graves.
The nabiyeen, the prophets, are alive in their graves. Siddiqeen, they’re alive in their graves. All of Islam is based on that. If you don’t have that understanding and that belief, it’s as if you’re denying Madina and denying the presence and the benefit. The Ahle Sunnah wal Jama’ah (People of Prophetic Tradition and of the Majority) believes in hadhir (present) and nadhir (aware), that Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ is everywhere. Shaitan is everywhere. You think who has more power? Shaitan takes from the power of “Izzatullah, Izzat ar Rasul wa Izzatul Mumineen.”
“…And to Allah belongs [all] honor, and to His messenger, and to the believers, but the hypocrites do not know.” (The Hypocrites, 63:8)
All Souls of Prophets are Alive
So, it means the Izzat and Might of Allah (AJ) flows to Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. He’s witnessing omnipresent and omni-aware of everything. It means then the souls of the prophets (as) are alive. Even Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ described for us on Isra wal Mi’raj (Night Journey and Ascension), he went to Allah’s (AJ) presence, and this is the world of light. He prayed with all the prophets (as). If they were dead, how he’s praying with all the prophets (as) on the Isra? That Allah (AJ) will turn them with all their souls to pray and to give their salutations to Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, to be alive in their form in his presence, went for the mi’raj into the Divinely Presence.
Allah (AJ) commanded the nation to fifty prayers a day. Then Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ went back to Sayyidina Musa (as) and Sayyidina Musa (as) asked, ‘What did Allah (AJ) order for your nation? He [ﷺ] said, ‘Fifty salah a day.’ He said, ‘I think it’s going to be heavy for your nation. Maybe you can ask Allah (AJ) to reduce it.’ There’s a whole dialogue in the shari’ah (Divine law) in the understandings of Isra wal mi’raj, that the number of salah for the entire nation was reduced by the dialogue between Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ and Sayyidina Musa (as).
Among the things which Allah revealed to him then, was: “Fifty prayers were enjoined on his followers in a day and a night.” Then the Prophet ﷺ descended till he met Moses (as), and then Moses (as) stopped him and asked, “O Muhammad ! What did your Lord en join upon you?” The Prophet ﷺ replied,” He enjoined upon me to perform fifty prayers in a day and a night.” Moses (as) said, “Your followers cannot do that; Go back so that your Lord may reduce it for you and for them.” [Sahih Bukhari, 7517]
Our Greatest Battle is the One With Ourself, Jihad al-Akbar
So, a prophet (as) is taking benefit from a prophet (as) of God. So, it means all of our belief is based on this. Then if Allah (AJ) want to be with the martyrs, now you can. We get the understanding of the darajats (spiritual ranks). The one whom martyred himself and was martyred in battle is one degree, but then Prophet ﷺ described that, ‘The greatest battle, jihad al-akbar, is the one where the servant fights himself.’
“An Jabiru qala, ‘qadema ‘ala Rasulullahi (saws) qawmun ghazatun, faqalan Nabiyu Sallallahu Alayhi was Salaam: ” Qademtum khaira maqdamin min jihadil Asghar ilal Jihadil Akbar.” Qeela “wa ma al Jihadil Akbar?” Qala “Mujahidatul ‘Abdi hawahu.”
Jabir (as) narrated: ‘Some warriors came to the Holy Prophet. He (Muhammad (s) said to them, “Welcome back, you came from minor Jihad/Struggle to the greater Struggle.” It was asked, ‘what is the greater/big struggle Oh Prophet of Allah?” The Prophet (pbuh) replied: “it is the servant’s fight against his own Self/mundane wills/desires.” (Bayhaqi Kitab ul Zuhd-al-Kabir)
So, the one whom fights himself, he becomes a martyr. Prophet, Allah (AJ) describes his battle was akbar. His battle was the greatest battle. So, it means what an immense reality Allah (AJ) places on the shuyukh (shaykhs) whom they battled themselves. Well, there is no victory. There is no booty or treasure to get from that battle. It’s only attacking oneself continuously in difficulty, continuously in grief, continuously in hardship for this world. As a result, Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ gave this. This is jihad al-akbar.
Shuyukh Operate From Their Souls, Their Body is Just a Hindrance
So, it means then these shuyukh (shaykhs) and these ulama (scholars), that they reach to this reality. Allah (AJ) granted them to be mushahadah, that they died before death. They died before death means then their soul is very much alive and they operate from that reality. Imagine these shaykhs whom are Ahlul Basirah (the people whose hearts are opened) and their hearts are alive. Their souls are alive. They operate from the reality of the heavenly kingdom upon their being. Their body already is of no need for them. They’re operating from their soul. Imagine when one of those passes away, they become exponentially much more powerful because the body was an actual hindrance for them to achieve what they wanted to achieve. So, for them, it’s just the parking of their physicality and they’re operating with their soul. These are the lights of heavens and paradises that are operating upon this Earth.
It means these are immense realities that shaitan tries to block us. So, anyone whom thinks like this means that you have to cut away this Wahhabi influence, cut away this hizbus shaitan (party of satan) understanding. It blocks us from the reality and the immensity of that reality that Allah (AJ) wants to bestow upon us. ‘Keep the company of My pious servants. I’m with nabiyeen.’
When the Light Enters Your Heart, You Can Fight Your Devils and Bad Character
So, you must believe that they’re everywhere, their light. You must only connect with them and that you ask that their light come into your heart and to dress you into your presence and to feel and to purify your reality, ‘Purify my eyes with this light, ya Rabbi. Purify my ears with this light. Purify my heart and my tongue, my hands and my feet, my entire being. Purify it with their lights.’ The madad (support) is to bring their light into my light, into my being. Then the nabiyeen, the siddiqeen – if you’re asking for the love of the prophets (as) and love of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, then of course, all his siddiqs and all his companions that have reached immense proximities and might and dressings of beauty from Allah’s (AJ) Divinely presence.
Their lights, ask for their lights to enter into your heart, to come into your being and to fight your devils and to fight your characteristics. That their light resides within your heart and with your soul and nabiyeen, siddiqeen, shuhadah that, ‘Ya Rabbi, these big awliya (saints), these big ulama, these scholars, that let them, their light to enter into my being and to begin to teach me and their faizes (downpouring blessings) to reach me. Let them to clean my eyes and my heart and my breath and my hands and my feet so that to purify my being for the arrival of Allah’s (AJ) Divinely lights.’
You Become Rabbaniyoon When Allah (AJ) Grants You Sincerity
So, it means then the saliheen. So, when we keep these categories of servants and we love them, we call upon them through the madad (support). We keep their remembrance and their teachings that we’re remembering them, ‘Mawlana Shaykh said this Mawlana taught this, where Mawlana did like this.’ That by remembering and mentioning them, it brings immense realities and rahmah (mercy) into our being. As a result of the one reaching cleanliness, Allah (AJ) when He feels the servant is to be clean, He grants them ikhlas (sincerity). He grants them the Divinely lights of sincerity.
As a result of Allah (AJ) granting sincerity, then all these knowledges, all these realities, all these blessings begin to dress the servant and dress the light of the servant in which they can truly reach the understanding of Hadith ul Qudsi. That, ‘I am the hearing in which you hear. I’m the seeing in which you see, the breath in which you breathe, the hands in which you touch and the feet in which you move so much so, you become Rabbaniyoon (lordly souls).’ It means your soul and it’s attributes of what Allah (AJ) is dressing from His Divinely lights, anything Allah (AJ) dresses, it becomes lordly, Rabbaniyoon. No doubt, if Allah’s (AJ) light upon your light, as soon as that light wants something, it has power of, “Kun faya koon.”
“…, wa la yazaalu ‘Abdi yataqarrabu ilayya bin nawafile hatta ahebahu, fa idha ahbabtuhu kunta Sam’ahul ladhi yasma’u behi, wa Basarahul ladhi yubsiru behi, wa Yadahul lati yabTeshu beha, wa Rejlahul lati yamshi beha, wa la in sa alani la a’Teyannahu, …”
“…My servant continues to draw near to Me with voluntary acts of worship so that I shall love him. When I love him, I am his hearing with which he hears, his seeing with which he sees, his hand with which he strikes and his foot with which he walks. Were he to ask [something] of Me, I would surely give it to him…” Hadith Qudsi (Sahih al-Bukhari, 81:38:2)
Ulul Amr Carry the Will of Allah (AJ) and Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ
Because actually Allah’s (AJ) will is dressing that light so it’s no longer the will of that servant. But when they ask for something, is Allah (AJ) asking through them to Allah (AJ) back because their will, their desire has been dying and going down. What exists within them is the will of ulil amr, the will of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ and the will of Allah (AJ) most high, inshaAllah. These are immense realities to reach into this world of light. The reality of the madad, the reality of effacing ourselves and to become nothing, to be dressed and blessed by these lights.
We pray that Allah (AJ) dress us, bless us and not to give credibility to those and those people’s beliefs. Run from them. When they want to ask you about this subject, just run. Say, ‘What are you talking about? The dead, they’re all very much alive. The one whom is really dead is me and you. We are the walking dead on this Earth.’ Don’t you see how Allah (AJ) sent these movies for us?’
The Walking Dead are Flesh-Eaters and Backbiters
Two years ago, the most popular movie on Earth was, ‘The Walking Dead.’ Why? Because Allah (AJ) was giving us a sign that we are the flesheaters and we are the walking dead. ‘Don’t deem yourself alive!’ That you came into this world, we became heedless. As a result, we are the dead and they are the true living ones and the living servants of Allah (AJ) because their hearts are alive, their souls are alive. Because when they’re dead, all they do is gheebah and backbite.
That’s why you see them in the movies eating flesh and the flesh of each other and that’s all this dunya (material world). If you don’t believe me, turn on the news. You don’t see anything from the heavens. All you see is backbiting. It’s biting, biting, biting. This is the walking dead. The truly living heart and the truly ones whom are alive is what we’re struggling to achieve in this world. ‘Ya Rabbi, make us from the dead. Make us to be alive. Don’t let us walk this Earth in death and then to die in a state of death and to die in a state of blindness. That those whom blind in this world to be blind in the hereafter.’
(Surat Al-Isra)
“But those who were blind in this world, will be blind in the hereafter, and most astray from the Path.” (The Night Journey, 17:72)
Revive Your Heart With the Love of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ!
Our whole life was the pursuit of these realities. ‘Ya Rabbi, that grant my heart to be alive.’ Then how it’s going to be alive, “Muhyil Qulub (Reviver of hearts).” The one whom revives the dead heart is the love of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. When we love Prophet ﷺ, then we want to be with all these siddiqeen, all the shuhadah whom they struggle against themselves to reach this reality and that all their students are saliheen. Dress from that light that Allah (AJ) keep us in the company of these Divinely associations.
Subhana rabbika rabbal ‘izzati ‘amma yasifoon, wa salaamun ‘alal mursaleen, walhamdulillahi rabbil ‘aalameen. Bi hurmati Muhammad al-Mustafa ﷺ wa bi siri Surat al-Fatiha.
