All Prophets Prayed With Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ on Isra wal Mi’raj
Always a reminder for myself that, ya Rab (O Lord), ana abdukal ‘ajeezu, dayeefu, miskinu, wa zhalim, wa jahl, and but for the grace of Allah (AJ) that we are still alive. Surat al-Isra, verse 79 and verse 80, inshaAllah.
On this holy weekend of Isra wal Mi’raj (Night Journey and Ascension), always a reminder that alhamdulillah, the Laylatul Mi’raj (Night of Ascension). That alhamdulillah, we’ve all been taught the greatness of the physicality of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ be called into the Divinely Presence from Mecca towards Jerusalem meeting with all the prophets (as). And that they accept the risalat (prophecy) and sultanate (kingdom) of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ and made salah and prayed with Prophet ﷺ and make their ‘attahiyat (sitting on knees during prayer), “Assalamu ‘alaika ayyuhan-nabiyu wa Ash’had’u alla ilaha illallahu wa ash’hadu anna Muhammadan Rasulullah ﷺ.”
“All the best compliments and the prayers/praising and the pure/good things are for Allah. Peace and Blessings be upon you, O Prophet ﷺ! Peace be on us and on the righteous servants of Allah. I testify that there is no deity but Allah (AJ), and I testify that Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is the servant and Messenger of Allah (AJ).”
And at that time becomes a completion “Innad deena ‘indAllahil Islam.”
3:19 – “Innad deena ‘indAllahil Islam.” (Surat Ali-Imran)
“The religion with God is Islam [Submission]…” (Family of Imran, 3:19)
Allah (AJ) Wants Us to Surrender Our Will
That they all under the risalat and prophethood of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. That is the reason for the Jerusalem to complete their faith. They promised Allah (AJ) that, ‘When I make you to be a rasul or a messenger or a nabi, that you’re under the authority of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. If he should come in your time, you accept. You surrender.’
And that’s what we talked about the levels of zakah (charity) that Allah (AJ), the highest zakah is to give back what Allah (AJ) gave to us. For us, He gave our will. Give it back. Surrender it back to Allah (AJ). Allah’s (AJ) not interested in the 2.5%. That was the gateway to the pulling of the teeth and the hard part. If you got through the gate, Allah (AJ) really wants is the will back. ‘Give your will back and surrender your desires and your wants and your needs to what I want. My Kingdom comes, My Will will be done because I’m going to put My Kingdom within your heart.’
All Prophets Surrendered Their Authority for Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ
And all the prophets of Allah (AJ) and messengers same, ‘Surrender your risalat. Surrender your authority and come to the threshold of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ.’ And that’s why then all the stories of their humility and the test within their humility. And this is the greatest that we can offer Allah (AJ) to reach to those realities.
So, it means then from Jerusalem, then the ladder of Jacob’s ladder into the heavens in which Allah (AJ) want to give His chosen servant the honor of being called, dressed, blessed and given a ride on a buraq (noble mystical horse) all they way into the heavens to be washed and dressed and adorning all the heavens and making all the angels of that paradise to come out, to greet.
17:1 – “Subhaanal lazeee asraa bi’abdihee lailam minal Masjidil Haraami ilal Masjidil Aqsal-lazee baaraknaa haw lahoo linuriyahoo min aayaatinaa;innahoo Huwas Samee’ul-Baseer.”
“Exalted is He who took His Servant by night from al-Masjid al-Haram to al-Masjid al- Aqsa, whose surroundings We have blessed, to show him of Our signs. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Seeing.” (Surat Al-Isra, 17:1)
Allah (AJ) Beautifies All Paradises for Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ on Mi’raj
One, showing ihtiram (respect) and tashrif (honour), that you come out to greet Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. And, ‘I’m going to beautify and fill all of its lights and all of its beauties,’ because Allah (AJ) showing how much He loves and gives a respect to Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ.
And then people even doubt like, ‘Oh, why you have to have a fancy mawlid (celebration of the birthday of Prophet ﷺ)?’ Are you kidding me? You didn’t see what Allah (AJ) did? Allah (AJ), the Creator Almighty, is preparing all the heavens, all its paradises for a visit from Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. This, Allah (AJ) showing, this is ihtiram, this is respect. If the Creator Almighty is showing that, nothing we do will be in comparison to that reality.
So, this means then going up for the Mi’raj seeing all the paradises, being introduced as the Chosen One of Allah (AJ), in his zuhoor, in his form, because they already know the sultanate of his nur (light), so couldn’t be the nur because, ‘I was a risalah, I was a Rasul before Adam was between clay and water.’
Qala Rasulullahi ﷺ, “Kuntu Nabiyan wa Adama baynal Maa e wat Teen.”
“I was a Prophet and Adam was between water and clay.” Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)
The Mi’raj Exemplifies the Honor Bestowed to Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ by Allah (AJ)
This means the people of malakut (heavens), they know who I am. They’re taking all their authority from me but Allah (AJ) showing the honor of my form to come into the Divinely Presence; in the presence that the form cannot come, making the impossible. The form to go into the presence where no form can exist, that Allah (AJ) want to show the ‘Azimah, the greatness. That which would have ‘phew,’ been annihilated, ‘I’m going to bring just to show the honor of the soul and the form of this creation is beloved and dear to Me.’
So, that we understood – this is for Allah (AJ). Now, anybody think that they’re waiting to do the same, come to the way of humility. That’s why then you deserve to be in tariqah (spiritual path). If you think like that, seek out a tariqah wherever you can find it because tariqah comes and tells you, ‘Why do think like that? We’re not of that. Allah (AJ) sent us His greatest rahmah (mercy). And if Allah (AJ) want to even give us the gift of that rahmah,’ it means it’s not going to be given. It’s not given as a free for everyone.
21:107 – “Wa maa arsalnaka illa Rahmatal lil’alameen.” (Surat Al-Anbiya)
“And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad (pbuh)], except as a mercy to the worlds/creation.” (The Prophets, 21:107)
Our Greatest Accomplishment is to Reach the Threshold of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ With Love
‘If I grant you hidayat and guidance, I will grant you the guidance of going to the threshold of My most beloved creation, Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ.’ And awliyaullah (saints) come into our life and begin to teach the mi’raj for us is to the threshold of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. That is everything. That is the greatest accomplishment if we can reach to the threshold of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. And with love and muhabbat, you enter with your soul into the soul of Prophet ﷺ.
That’s why the Ka’bah is the symbol of that reality and that’s why the Ka’bah has a door. Why would it need a door? To show the hujjaj (pilgrims), you’re making tawaf (circumambulation) but you didn’t reach yet. There’s a sign. If I run around your home and then I leave, is this a big accomplishment? You just ran around, ran around, ran…‘bye!’
Ask to Enter Through the Door of the Siddiqs
It was supposed to be a sign. Those whom have tafakkur and contemplation, show them, ‘Look there is a door and I’m merely making tawaf. Ah, ya Rabbi, let me come to the door. There is a secret in here. I want my soul to be knocking.’ And this beatific door has two panels and two hearts.
So, two big realities of Siddiqs and if Allah (AJ) should open the reality of those doors to open, you’re now entering into the presence of the king of all created universes. And that is the mi’raj and that was the symbol that Allah (AJ) wanted and all of the hajj (pilgrimage) was tabarak (blessing). To have the respect of Sayyidina Ibrahim (as) and his two footprints. They don’t let you to do anything nice in Madina. The zamzam, to drink from holy water where you could have water anywhere on earth, why is that one special for you? Everything was tabarak. To kiss the holy stone because what did that stone represent of paradise realities? So, with good character, we were supposed to ask, ‘Ya Rabbi, I want to enter in.’ Then take a way of spirituality. Take a way of tazkiyah and purification and these ulul amr (saints) will teach you that way into that reality.
Attain the Reality of Isra wal Mi’raj Through the Door of Surat al-Isra
InshaAllah, from Surat al-Isra is the reality of Isra wal Mi’raj. Tonight we talk about, inshaAllah, the mi’raj for the believer which means the teachings and the realities have to be applicable on how do you apply them today. We’re not telling qissahs and stories of the past. It’s a curriculum in which if you’re learning and listening and now you’re extremely motivated to listen because your dunya (material world) is collapsing, everything falling apart.
All you have is time now – trying to figure out what you’re going to do with your time. It’s a good time to pick up a good haqqaiq (realities) book and access to website and start, you know, reading, reading, ‘Ya Rabbi, ya Rabbi, I want to know about my reality and the way of your realities.’
InshaAllah, from Surat al-Isra, verse 79 and verse 80. “Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem.”
17:79-80 – “Wa minal layli fatahajjad bihi, nafilatal laka ‘asaa an yab’athaka Rabbuka Maqaman Mahmooda. (79) Wa qul Rabbi adkhelni mudkhala Sidqin wa akhrejni mukhraja Sidqin waj’al li min ladunka Sultanan NaSeera. (80)” (Surat Al-Isra)
“And pray in the small watches of the morning: (it would be) an additional prayer (or spiritual profit) for thee: soon will your Lord raise you to a Station of Praise and Glory! [Maqam al Mahmood] (79) Say: O my Lord! Let my entry be by the Gate of Truth and Honour, and likewise my exit by the Gate of Truth and Honour; and grant me from Your Presence a Victorious King to aid (me). (80)” (The Night Journey, 17:79)
Wa barakah Rasulul Kareem, Ya Habeeb al-‘Azim. That Allah (AJ) giving the reality and the door for us to reach that which is attainable for creation and Allah (AJ), ‘Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem. And pray in the small watches of the night,’ the Salatul Tahajjud.
The Secret is Always in the Sunnah
When the whole frequency has been running all day, trying to get their rizq (sustenance) and their money, they’re passed out and tired. Allah (AJ), ‘Wake up, wake up and begin to pray. There is a gate open for you. There is a way open for you in the small watches of the nights for Salatul Tahajjud, the additional prayers.’ (Holy Qur’an, 17:79)
It’s not mandatory because the secret is always in the sunnah (traditions of Prophet ﷺ). It’s not in the fard (obligatory). The mandatory was mandatory by the nature of Allah (AJ) mandating it. That’s not where the secret. The nafil and the sunnah is something you do out of love because you feel an ishq and a love, ‘I feel lonely. I feel scared. I feel I’m in need, ya Rabbi. I wanna wash and get up and pray.’
Pray Salatul Tahajjud to Be Granted Maqam al Mahmood
And that’s when Allah (AJ) describing that there is a tremendous gift for you. There is a reality for you. ‘Make the additional prayers for these. Soon will your lord raise you to a praise-worthy station (Holy Qur’an, 17:79).’ I’m going to raise you to Maqam al Mahmood. And Maqam al Mahmood is the name of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, Sayyidina Mahmood ﷺ. It means Allah (AJ) is going to raise for us an entry into the presence of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. I’m going to make it easy and attainable for you to reach Maqam al Mahmood into the presence of that reality, into the presence of that beatific dress.
So, it’s not such an impossible reality to go for Isra wal Mi’raj. But awliyaullah (saints) come into our life and say, ‘No, no, Allah (AJ) made it very easy. Pray your Salatul Fajr. Pray your Salatul Tahajjud. Wake a little bit earlier or stay the whole night or portion of the night or whatever possible portion of that night you can. Allah (AJ) is calling, ‘This is a maqam (station) of Sayyidina Mahmood ﷺ.’
73:1-6 – Ya aiyuhal muzzammil, Qumil laila illaa qaleelaa, Nisfahooo awinqus minhu qaleelaa, Aw zid ‘alaihi wa rattilil Qur’aana tarteela, Innaa sanulqee ‘alaika qawalan saqeelaa, Inn naashi’atal laili hiya ashadddu wat anw wa aqwamu qeelaa.” (Surah Al-Muzzamil)
“O you wrapped in garments (i.e. Prophet Muhammad saw)! Stand (to pray) all night, except a little. Half of it or a little less than that or a little more. And recite the Qur’an (aloud) in a slow, (pleasant tone and) style. Verily, We shall send down to you a weighty Word (i.e. obligations, laws). Verily, the rising by night (for Tahajjud prayer) is very hard and most potent and good for governing oneself, and most suitable for (understanding) the Word (of Allah)” (The Enshrouded One, 73:1-6)
Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ Reaches His Hand Towards Us When We Pray Salatul Tahajjud
If you begin to pray that, Allah (AJ) will raise you to reach towards because that station is very high, but the humility of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ is to what? To bring his hand down for us to reach it. So, what we cannot achieve, Allah (AJ) say, ‘No, I’m going to raise you by virtue of you doing it. I’m going to raise you to the maqam of Sayyidina Mahmood ﷺ.’
And then Allah (AJ) begin to describe that, ‘Oh my lord! Let my entry be by the gate of truth and honor, is the Siddiqin, Maka’as Siddiq. And likewise, let my exit be from the gate of truth and honor, Maka’as Siddiq. And ya Rabbi, grant me from Thy presence and authority and a king to aid me, ladunka Sultanan Naseera’ (Holy Qur’an, 17:80). That is the way of that reality.
The Two Doors on the Ka’bah Represent the Maka’as Siddiqs
So, you see on the Ka’bah, the two doors? One Maka’as Siddiq, the other Maka’as Siddiq. And when you enter into this Maka’as Siddiq, the gateway of the Siddiqs (Truthful), the two gateways. Why? Because they’re Ulul al Baab (Gatekeepers of the Reality), they’re ahbab (lovers of Prophet ﷺ), ‘Ya ulul al baab, ya ahbab, ya ulul al baab.’ There’s two hearts. See on the wall, the knockers are hearts. Allah (AJ) saying, ‘The signs are everywhere but do you have eyes to see them?’
7:179 – “Wa laqad zara’naa li jahannama kaseeram minal jinni wal insi lahum quloobul laa yafqahoona bihaa wa lahum a’yunul laa yubisiroona bihaa wa lahum aazaanul laa yasma’oona bihaa; ulaaa’ika kal an’aami bal hum adall; ulaaa’ika humul ghaafiloon” (Surat Al-Ar’af)
“Many are the Jinn’s and men we have made for Hell: They have hearts wherewith they understand not, eyes wherewith they see not, and ears wherewith they hear not. They are like cattle,- nay more misguided: for they are heedless (of warning).” (The Heights, 7:179)
Enter and Exit the Gate of Truth Through Sayyidina Abu Bakr (as) and Imam Ali (as)
You don’t see that these two door knobs are hearts? Big Ahbab an Nabi ﷺ (lovers of Prophet ﷺ), big Siddiqs. Two gates into this reality that, ‘Let me exit into this gate of truth and let me enter back into through this gate of truth.’ To where, ya Rabbi? To Sultanan Naseera, the Authorized king.
17:80 – “Wa qul Rabbi adkhelni mudkhala Sidqin wa akhrejni mukhraja Sidqin waj’al li min ladunka Sultanan NaSeera.” (Surat Al-Isra)
“Say: O my Lord! Let my entry be by the Gate of Truth and Honour, and likewise my exit by the Gate of Truth and Honour; and grant me from Your Presence a Victorious King to aid (me).” (The Night Journey, 17:80)
If you enter into the presence of the authorized king, then the authorized king begins to sign everything you do. When they ask that, ‘Who authorized you? You authorized yourself?’ No! If you’re from that reality, Sultanan Naseera (The Victorious King) authorized me. The one whom Allah (AJ) gave the ability to authorize. Our life is to reach that reality. Our mi’raj is to reach that reality, Sayyidina Abu Bakr as Siddiq (as) and Imam Ali (as) [Shaykh points to his heart].
The House of Allah (AJ) are the Lataif of the Qalb
So, when we took a life to learn their way, the house of Allah (AJ) are the lataif of the qalb (subtle energy points of the heart) because Allah (AJ) saying, ‘I’m not in heaven, I’m not on earth, I’m on the heart of my believer. And the qalb of my mu’min (believer) is My home, is My presence on the heart.’
“Maa wasi`anee laa Samayee, wa la ardee, laakin wasi’anee qalbi ‘Abdee al Mu’min.”
”Neither My Heavens nor My Earth can contain Me, but the heart of my Believing Servant.” (Hadith Qudsi conveyed by Prophet Muhammad (pbuh))
and
“Qalb al mu’min baytur rabb.”
“The heart of the believer is the House of the Lord.” (Hadith Qudsi)
Sayyidina Abu Bakr (as) and Sayyidina Azrael (as) Represent Sirr e Sir
So, this lataif of the qalb, the understanding of what Allah (AJ) has given to our heart. That we went from the qalb, the sir (secret), we didn’t talk about yet, sirr e sir (secret of the secret) is the world of light and the khafa (hidden); these are two gates. The sirr e sir was Sayyidina Abu Bakr as Siddiq (as), the world of light and the world of perfection. The khafa is the resurrection, right? There’s two angels there too.
So, the sirr e sir and entering into the world of light. Who is the angel that takes you from here into the world of light? Sayyidina Azrael (as) because you have to die in this dunya (material world) to enter into that world of light. Allah (AJ) gave you a life and He’s saying, ‘Surrender this life. You think you’re really alive? You’re walking dead, flesh eater! Going around and talking and then complaining, and making all sorts of bad actions. You’re not from Hay (Ever-living). You’re actually from mawt (death). You’re walking dead on Earth.’ Everyone’s under the illusion they’re alive.
Sayyidina Abu Bakr as Siddiq (as) Mastered Death of Desires Before Physical Death
So, then the great Siddiq, Sayyidina Abu Bakr as Siddiq (as) gave everything for the love of Prophet ﷺ, ‘What did you leave for your family?’ [Prophet ﷺ asked]. “La ilaha ilAllah Muhammadun Rasulullah ﷺ” [Sayyidina Abu Bakr as Siddiq (as) replied].
‘An Sayyidina ‘Umar ibni al Khatabi (as) qala: Amarana Rasulallahi ﷺ an natasaddaqa,…Wa ata Abu Bakrin (as) bi kulli ma ‘indahu. Faqala ﷺ: “Ya Aba Bakrin ma abqayta li ahlika? Qala: “Abqaytu lahumu Allaha wa Rasulahu.” [Sunan At Tirmidhi 3675]
Sayyidina ‘Umar ibn al Khattab (as) reported: The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) ordered us to give charity…Sayyidina Abu Bakr (as) came with everything he had. The Prophet (pbuh) said, “O Abu Bakr, what have you left for your family?” Abu Bakr said, “Allah and his messenger.”[Sunan At Tirmidhi 3675]
The perfection of iman, the perfection of faith. The representative, Siddiq al-Mutlaq (the Absolute Truthful), the perfection and the representative of the world of light. That approach your life with that reality and that love for Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. Sayyidina Azrael (as) comes to teach you how to die. That’s why Sayyidina Abu Bakr as Siddiq (as) and Prophet ﷺ describe, ‘Do you want to see somebody who has died before he died? Look at my great Siddiq.’ Why? Because people worship dunya and they hold onto it like a monkey holding grapes. Now, it’s not even grapes, it’s toilet paper.
Awliya are Watching the Demise of Dunya
Dying is coming! Death is coming and they’re worried about toilet paper. And awliyaullah watching from up in the ‘Truman show.’ This life is a Truman show; they’re watching. You know they passed away, Allah (AJ) gives them – this dunya for them is you know the ball that they sell in the toy stores where you shake it and the snow is falling everywhere?
This dunya is like that for them because the size of their souls are immense. They can hold all of dunya in their hand. When they look at it, they can see it. They see that panic and death is coming and what are the people wanting? How are they influenced by what is being showed to them of what they should want and they ran to grab it.
Imam Jafar as-Sadiq (as) Carries the Two Rivers of Sayyidina Abu Bakr as Siddiq (as) and Imam Ali (as)
So, it means they’re looking. So, Sayyidina Abu Bakr as Siddiq (as) is essential in our love. That’s why Naqshbandiya tul ‘Aliya carries these two gates brought by whom? Imam Jafar as-Sadiq (as). He has the two nuqts (dots) of the qaf. He brought the river of his grandparent, Sayyidina Abu Bakr as Siddiq (as) and he brought the other river of his grandparent, Imam Ali (as). And he brought the two rivers of the qaf and brought the secret of Holy Qur’an onto the tariqah.
Why Fear Death When You’re Going to Meet Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ?
So, the tariqah comes to teach, Sayyidina Abu Bakr as Siddiq (as) comes to perfect the character. That perfect your character, your love for Prophet ﷺ. Do all that you can for this love of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ and you begin to the lose the taste of this world.
And then Sayyidina Azrael (as) begins to come into your life and you meditate and you meditate with Sayyidina Azrael (as) that, ‘I don’t know if I’m ready to die right now but I’d like to connect my heart with you.’ Because many people are very scared – as soon as they meditate, they feel heart is beating, they run to a doctor, ‘I was having a heart attack, Shaykh, I think I was having a heart attack.’ You weren’t having a heart attack unless you really, you know, got something wrong with you.
But these are young guys running and saying, ‘My heart was beating. I felt like I was going to die. I ran to the doctor, I ran to the doctor.’ Why? What was wrong with death for you? What are you worried about? Because there’s a fear. So, Sayyidina Azrael (as) comes and says, ‘What are you fearing? Aren’t you in love with Prophet ﷺ? Aren’t you waiting to see Prophet ﷺ? What are you scared of?’ And make you to be more tranquil, more peaceful. Then they begin to inspire in your heart all that you’re clinging onto is what making you to stay alive. Enter into the state of death.
Don’t Be Occupied By This Perishing World
Then they begin to test and insult and every type of difficulty comes and that’s why they teach, ‘You don’t talk, don’t defend yourself, don’t say anything.’ Who cares? If the whole world hates you but Allah (AJ) loves you, that’s all that’s important. Take a way of humility. It actually helps you to die. It helps you to, ‘I’m sick of it. I’m sick of everything.’ If you’re not sick of it, you’re loving it too much.
If you’re sick of it and Allah (AJ) making now everybody sick of, ‘This is crazy, this is…do you know what is this? What is this?’ People wondering what did they ran for? They ran for shares in a company you never see. A pension, they hope to kill all the old people, not to give their pensions. That’s what you say, ‘Oh, first treatment.’ You know, if you’re like 70 or 65, ‘Oh, is that like the pension years? We don’t treat you first. We treat you last.’ You ran for this? You thought you were gonna get what from these people? So, Sayyidina Azrael (as) comes and teaches, ‘No, it’s going. It’s of no value to you. It is what it is to the purpose of feeding your family. Your love should be increased.’
You Don’t Experience a Spiritual State When You Withhold Your Soul
Sayyidina Abu Bakr as Siddiq (as) comes and teaches then, ‘Be truthful in your actions and in your words. You’ll be tested and they’re watching. Be truthful, be truthful.’ This is Maka’as Siddiq. That, ya Rabbi, when Allah (AJ) grants you, and you’re truly listening to Sayyidina Abu Bakr as Siddiq (as), and you’re understanding the inspirations of Sayyidina Azrael (as), that ‘Don’t fear it,’ then this gate begin to open. When it opens, he begins to pull your soul out and that’s why then your khashf and your haal become much more powerful.
When people say, ‘I’m not seeing, I’m not feeling it,’ it’s because you’re not letting your soul to come out. How you’re going to feel it? With your fingers? You have to be in a state of complete utter disgust for everything. You’re like walking dead. Whatever. So, that you’re soul, these two maqams are open, these two lataifs are open. As soon as you enter into a zikr (Divine remembrance), your soul is ‘Whoa, I’m happy. I’m where I’m supposed to be. I’m flying around.’ Because Sayyidina Azrael (as) taught you by permission of “Atiullah wa atiur Rasul and Ulil amre.”
4:59 – “…Atiullaha wa atiur Rasula wa Ulil amre minkum…” (Surat An-Nisa)
“… Obey Allah, Obey the Messenger, and those in authority among you…” (The Women, 4:59)
Train to Meditate in Stillness to Release Your Soul
These are the ulul amr. The angels are from ulul amr. They come with a permission, ‘Here’s how you leave your body.’ Put a portion of it back into the body and it just holds it. ‘Don’t,’ and he trains you, ‘don’t move.’ If you’re moving your fingers, you have to become very much back into your body and all your motor functions. So, they teach you how to meditate as if someone look at you, you must be dead because you’re not moving. They don’t move a finger, you don’t do nothing. You just train in breathing and let your spirit to be released but doesn’t just happen because somebody wants it.
Connect Your Heart With Siddiq al-Mutlaq, Sayyidina Abu Bakr as Siddiq (as)
That’s how they have a system. You have to connect your heart. With the nazar (gaze) of the shaykh, the muraqabah (spiritual connection) with the shaykhs, they begin to train you. Then introduce you that you should be connecting your heart with Sayyidina Abu Bakr as Siddiq (as), Siddiq al-Mutlaq, ‘Ya Sayyidi, I’m in your presence for the love of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. Inspire me.’ You don’t have to see his face. ‘Just inspire me as a lover of Prophet ﷺ. You love and I love Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. Inspire me to have the truthful character, kindness and softness with people. Inspire Sayyidina Azrael (as) to come and teach me to move from the body.’
Imam Ali (as) Guides Us to Resurrect Ourselves in the Divinely Presence
Simultaneously, then they begin to train you. You must have an immense love for Imam Ali (as). And there are people in tariqah, they don’t even mention the name of Imam Ali (as). How you then have a relationship with the other Maka’as Siddiq? The other gate of the Siddiq who’s the one, who what? Resurrects you. Said, ‘My Companion, he showed you how to die. Me? I show you how to be resurrected into their presence.’
Sayyidina Israfil (as) Shows Us the Secret of Sound Upon Our Soul
Come on, how to take your soul out and now move into the presence of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ with the angel Sayyidina Israfil (as). Sayyidina Azrael (as) and Sayyidina Israfil (as). The angel, Sayyidina Israfil (as), come and show you that, ‘With the trumpet, I will raise the dead.’ It means we’re going to give you now the secret of sound into your soul. As soon as you hear these vibrations, you go into a haal and your haal will bring you out of your body and into their presence. ‘It was but one shout and We lifted him.’
36:53 – “In kanat illa sayhatan wahidatan fa idha hum jamee’un ladayna muhdaroon.” (Surat YaSeen)
“It will be no more than a single Blast/Shout, when at once, they will all be brought up before Us!” (YaSeen, 36:53)
The Seven Notes of Sound Unlocks Codes and Secrets
You don’t have to know the coordinates, ‘How do I find the heavens, Shaykh? Where am I going to go, going to go left and right?’ He teaches you, ‘No, no, we’re going to give a secret of sound.’ As soon as you hear these nasheeds (song of praise) and salawats (praises upon Prophet Muhammad ﷺ) that are beatific. That’s why when they recited with a bad voice, the wrong trumpet. You know, it’s like a bugle. We don’t do that. It has to be beatific.
This is the secret, we said, of sound. The sound has an immense power when it’s beatific and melodious. It’s unlocking codes, it’s unlocking secrets. The seven qira’ats (recitation of Holy Qur’an), the seven secrets on how to recite. There are seven notes, each one hitting a different reality. So, it means we are an entire sound being. The sound we produce is the energy that is manifesting. That energy is the light that people are seeing.
Your Soul is Guarded Upon Leaving the Physical Body
So, it means they’re going to come and teach, that Sayyidina Imam Ali (as) going to teach, ‘You want me, you love me, you think of me. I’m going to come and going to bring what? From Nadi Ali, I’m going to lift you up out of the body and into their presence. If not but a blink of an eye, and every type of difficulty I have to defend you from.’
Nadi Aliyan Muzharul ‘ajayeb
Tajidhu ‘awnallaka fin nawayeb
Call upon Imam Ali (as) who manifests wondrous appearances,
He will rescue and support you in times of difficulties and calamities.
Because leaving the body, you would be coming under attack. Entering back into your body you would come under attack if they’re not guarding and they’re not showing. That’s why then the tariqah comes with an ijazah (permission), comes with an entire teaching. That these angels have to teach, these Sahabi (Holy companions of Prophet ﷺ) have to teach. They have to guard the student. That we’ll show you how to come out of that reality, how to leave the body, how to plant your physicality and then breathe and let your energy to come out. And when it comes out, it should be directed directly to the presence of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, to the nazar (gaze) of the shaykhs, all that’s holy.
Meditate in a Protected, Sanctified Place
You don’t take your body out and just go into the woods and into the bushes and into the buses and trains and malls. They said, ‘Should we do our zikrs like in the mall?’ No, if you’re somebody who’s opened up, you wouldn’t open up your soul in a mall. You’re asking for 10,000 creatures to be attacking you at that time because it’s real.
So, then you choose a sanctified place, a beatific place, a protected place and you begin to make your tafakkur and contemplation. So much so, that when they begin their zikrs and their salawats, their soul is out of the body. And the more powerful their soul is out, the more power that everybody will begin to feel because the majlis (association) is under the authority of their soul, not their body. Their soul’s energy and light is dressing everything and everyone within a blink of an eye.
The Soul of the Believer Has Infinite Power and Unlimited Capacity
Anyone who logs on, their soul has already reached to them; reached with all those whom are under their madad (support). Whatever madad and support they have is flowing through everything and everywhere that it sees and goes because the soul has an infinite power. It’s not limited in its capacity. As much as Allah (AJ) want to give to it, Allah (AJ) gives to that reality more and more of His Izzah and Might. “Izzatullah, izzatu Rasul wa Izzat al-mu’mineen.” That is the mi’raj of the believer.
63:8 – “…Wa Lillahil ‘izzatu wa li Rasooli hi wa lil Mumineen…” (Surat Al-Munafiqoon)
“…And to Allah belongs [all] honor, and to His messenger, and to the believers…” (The Hypocrites, 63:8)
They train, they train on how to open their lataifs (subtle energy points). They read from the teachings. They read from all of these haqqaiqs and these realities so that they can reach. When they read and they understand, they did their practices. They did all of their meditations. Then in every association, their soul is leaving. When they say they’re going to Madinatul Munawwara (luminous city of Prophet ﷺ), their soul is right there in the presence of Madinatul Munawwara. To go there, to be dressed by it, to be blessed by it, to feel it, to be brought back into their physicality, all of its realities.
Pray for the Heart to Open and Reach Divinely Realities
We pray that Allah (AJ) open for us on these holy nights, ya Rabbi, a way in which our heart to take from those realities, to be dressed from those realities, to want those realities. All these itikaf and khalwah (seclusion) that You’re opening, uzlah that You’re opening, “Nawaytul arbaeen, nawaytul itikaf, nuwaytul khalwah, sulook wa siyam.”
“Nawaytul arbaeen, nawaytul itikaf, nuwaytul khalwa, nuwaytul uzla, nuwaytul riyada, nuwaytus sulook wal siyam, lillahi ta’ala fi hadhal masjid.”
“I intend the forty (days of seclusion), I intend seclusion in the mosque, I intend seclusion, I intend isolation, I intend discipline (of the ego), I intend to travel in God’s Path, I intend to fast for the sake of God in this mosque.”
And siyam (fast) too because they think food will be slowing down, “Fi hadhal majlis.” Ya Rabbi, grant us to want to reach to these realities and make these realities to be easy for us to achieve through our muhabbat and our love.
Subhana rabbika rabbil ‘izzati amma yasifun wa salamun alal mursalin wal hamdulillahi rabbil ‘alamin Bi hurmati Muhammad al Mustafa wa bi siri surat al Fatiha.
