I seek refuge in Allah from Satan, the rejected one
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Atiullaha wa atiur Rasula wa Ulil amre minkum and before we start the khatm, inshaAllah.
4:59 – “…Atiullaha wa atiur Rasula wa Ulil amre minkum…” (Surat An-Nisa)
“… Obey Allah, Obey the Messenger, and those in authority among you…” (The Women, 4:59)
Rajab Carries the Reality of Surah Munafiqoon (9×7=63)
A reminder always for myself we have in this month, Surah Munafiqoon. In a month of light, Subhana man huwal Khaliq anNur (Glory to Him who is the Creator, the Light), in which Allah (AJ) dress upon Sayyidina Muhammad’s ﷺ reality is a light and Allah (AJ), on this seventh lunar month from the reality of the sultans which are the 9. It becomes 63 and 6 and 3 is a 9. Surah 63, Surah Munafiqoon. So, verse 10 of surah 63, inshaAllah.
63:10 – “Wa anifqoo mim maa razaqnaakum min qabli any-ya’tiya ahadakumul mawtu fa yaqoola rabbi law laaa akhkhartaneee ilaaa ajalin qareebin fa assaddaqa wa akum minassaaliheen” (Surat Al-Munafiqoon)
“And spend something (in charity) out of the substance which We have bestowed on you, before Death should come to any of you and he should say, “O my Lord! why didst Thou not give me respite for a little while? I should then have given (largely) in charity, and I should have been one of the doers of good.” (The Hypocrites, 63:10)
Everyone Will Taste Death
That whatever we see in this world and all the du’as (supplications) and istighfars and awliyaullah (saints) come into our life and saying and teaching from Holy Qur’an, atiullaha wa atiur Rasula wa Ulil amre minkum.
4:59 – “…Atiullaha wa atiur Rasula wa Ulil amre minkum…” (Surat An-Nisa)
“… Obey Allah, Obey the Messenger, and those in authority among you…” (The Women, 4:59)
Ana abdukal ‘ajeez, wa dayeef, wa miskin, wa zhalim, wa jahl, and by the Grace of Allah (AJ) that He’s kept us alive until now. And that Allah (AJ) is warning mankind, ‘Everyone will taste of death.’ There is no escaping death. All the panic and rushing and in the end of that equation, everyone will taste of death. Not the TV to put a fear into people’s heart, but a believer has the fear within their heart, that of course, I’m going to die. Am I going to die by a flu, by a car, by an accident, by falling, by dying of old age? Whatever it is, Allah (AJ) reminding those who believe, ‘Everyone will taste of death.’
21:35 – “Kullu nafsin dhayiqatul Mawti, wa nablokum bish sharri wal khayri fitnatan, wa ilayna turja’oon.” (Surat Al-Anbiya)
“Every soul shall have a taste of death: and We test you by evil and by good by way of trial. to Us must ye return.” (The Prophets, 21:35)
Give What You Can During the Time Allah (AJ) Has Given
And Allah’s (AJ) infinite Rahmah when He sends something like this difficulty that death didn’t take you by surprise. Because if it should take you by surprise and Allah’s (AJ) giving an ayatul kareem from Surat al-Munafiqoon how much you’re going to have remorse. He’s giving us a time. He’s showing the whole of His creation which He loves and He created this creation with love. I’m not wiping it down in one shot, but one shout and Allah (AJ) decimate an entire population in nations before.
36:29 – “In kanat illa sayhatan wahidatan fa idha hum khamidoon.” (Surat YaSeen)
“It was not but one shout, and immediately they were extinguished/destroyed.” (YaSeen, 36:29)
But all of this is now under the intercession of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. There’s a nation that accepted the dawah and the nation that has not yet accepted the dawah. All of it is under the intercession of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. As a result, Allah (AJ) did not wipe creation out. He’s giving them and us time. Do you see how everything is falling apart? Make your hisaab, make your account. Make yourself to be good with Allah (AJ) and reminder for myself is am I good with Allah (AJ)?
Saliheen Give Everything in the Way of Allah (AJ)
And in this month this event happens, and Allah (AJ) in ayatul Kareem, is describing what the believer will go through in his state of death and says, ‘Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem. And spend in charity out of the sustenance that we have bestowed upon you, before you should come to any of us, before you should come to the Divinely Presence and the servant will cry out to their lord. Ya Rabbi, oh my lord! Why did you not give me a time and respite?’ (Holy Qur’an, 63:10)
It means why did you take me all of a sudden and you didn’t give me a time? And what is he asking, not the time for his praying, not the time for anything for his hajj (pilgrimage), not the time for his fasting but, ‘Ya Rabbi, why didn’t you give me a time that I could have given largely in charity and that I would have been from the saliheen?‘ And Allah (AJ) is then teaching us this station of saliheen (righteous), they gave everything in the way of Allah (AJ).
We Accumulate Sicknesses When We Hoard Material Wealth
When Allah (AJ) is showing that every type of difficulty in your face, and you’re more worried about your account and bank accounts and stock market portfolios and we’re not worried about our hisaab (account) with Allah (AJ). And zakah (charity) and zaki, to be purified, sadaqah (charity) to take away sickness and difficulty means insan (human being), whatever they’re making and amassing, they are building a burden upon themselves, like collecting viruses and germs and their body is festering with all sorts of infections.
When difficulty comes, the result of all their festering is what’s making them to be sick. We think, ‘Oh, we want to blame somebody. We want to blame Allah (AJ) doing this.’ He said, ‘No, no. You’re not zaki, you’re not clean. Whatever you are making and doing in your life, you’re accumulating and festering all of this sickness.’ You’re amassing money and funds. And yet, you’re not purifying your soul and that which you have amassed it became an infection upon you. It takes away your belief, it takes away your heart and puts the heart into darkness. Every type of sickness begins to amass upon that insan. And he’s pleading to Allah (AJ), ‘Why you took me like this? Let me to go back. Let me to go back and I’ll empty my accounts so that I can become from saliheen (righteous) (Holy Qur’an, 63:10).’
Your Money Won’t Save Your Soul!
And that is the warning that awliyaullah (saints) are giving to us that Allah (AJ), make your bargain. Give up your dunya (material world) for your akhirah (afterlife). This dunya is falling apart. Why is it that you’re trying to run after dunya, amass the dunya? All the money of the world won’t save you from what’s coming now and if you should taste from death, are you prepared to meet Allah (AJ)? When He asks you what’s all that in your account that you hoarded it and amassed it for what? Did you give in the way of Allah (AJ) to purify your own soul? Not that you gave it away and then you judge who you should give it to or are they worthy of giving it to. It’s not your business! Your business was to purify your soul by your giving. When you gave, you purified and washed yourself. You cut all of the bacteria from the self.
Zakah (Charity) Has Many Levels
Then they come into our life and teach us zakah (charity) is of many levels. Zakah of Shari’ah (Divine Law) is 2.5% and with tricky accounting they end up paying $5 and going. Because this one no, this not go, 2 camels, it’s not a camel, this is greater. Zakah (charity) is the minimum, is the 2.5% but tariqah (spiritual path) comes and says, no, min kulli ma yu khalifu shari’ah, tariqah, ma’rifah, haqiqah, azimah. There are degrees in which you’re going to climb. Shari’ah (Divine Law) you gave the minimum and your hand shook and you’re barely cleaning yourself.
We Must Give to Purify Ourselves
Tariqah, immediately Allah (AJ) “Khudh min amwaalihim” – what is the qibla on that wall, ‘Take their sustenance.’ In Surah Tawbah, which is the first baab (door) of this way. Verse 103, Surah Tawbah, verse 103, Khudh min amwaalihim.
9:103 – “Khudh min amwalihim sadaqatan tutahhiruhum wa tuzakkeehim biha wa salli ‘alayhim, inna salawataka sakanun lahum, wallahu samee’un ‘aleem. (Surat At-Tawbah)
“Take, [O, Muhammad (pbuh)], from their wealth a charity by which you purify them and Sanctify them, and Pray on their behalf. Indeed, your Prayers are a source of Peace/security/reassurance for them. And Allah is Hearing and Knowing.” (The Repentance, 9:103)
Take their money. They are not going to give it to you. Take it and pray for them because it’s making them sick. That which you keep in your account, you will be questioned by Allah (AJ) and bring every sickness upon yourself and your family. They take and make circles of paradise and make gardens of paradise. This [Center] wasn’t here before. A Shaykh came into town and forced everybody to give, and as a result now, they have a circle of paradise. And everywhere they go, they try to make a circle of paradise. It’s a circle of najat (salvation) and safety. And that circle of paradise gives to your soul eternally – not punishing your soul, blessing your soul.
Zakah of Tariqah – The Greatest Jihad is Against Our Own Desires
So, then they come into our lives to perfect our faith and our reality. Zakah of tariqah. The shaykh comes and inspires – give, take the way of tariqah, the way of jihad al-Akbar. In jihad, in the time of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, there was a 20% khums (one-fifth wealth tax) on everything. Anything you gained in the battlefield, from the booty and the treasures, 20% was given to Prophet ﷺ, Allah’s (AJ) Rasul. Khums was something stopped. But the turuq (spiritual paths), no, no it completely abides by that reality. They’re not accepting 2.5% from anyone. Those are people who are still at the gate and just looking to come in. When Allah (AJ) inspires make their jihad (struggle) real. And what Prophet ﷺ describe, ‘Their greatest jihad is against themselves.’
“An Jabiru qala, ‘qadema ‘ala Rasulullahiﷺ qawmun ghazatun, faqalan Nabiyu Sallallahu Alayhi was Salaam: ” Qademtum khaira maqdamin min jihadil Asghar ilal Jihadil Akbar.” Qeela “wa ma al Jihadil Akbar?” Qala “Mujahidatul ‘Abdi hawahu.”
Jabir (as) narrated: ‘Some warriors came to the Holy Prophet (pbuh). He (Muhammad (pbuh) said to them, “Welcome back, you came from minor Jihad/Struggle to the greater Struggle.”
It was asked, ‘What is the greater/big struggle Oh Prophet of Allah?’ The Prophet (pbuh) replied: ‘It is the servant’s fight against his own Self/mundane wills/desires.’ (Bayhaqi Kitab ul Zuhd-al-Kabir)
The greatest battle today is to separate insan (human being) from his money because he’s worshipping his money; everyday checking his accounts to see what it has. The shaykhs and their charities have accounts because they never know what they have to spend. They put $10,000 on this, they have $70,000 dollars in food and now people who we never saw before, they come here to get toilet paper cause there’s nothing available anywhere. And never they returned everything that they got from here and today they showed up to get toilet paper. What in their soul, they know that they were mocking before. Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (Q) said a day will come – the most expensive and precious commodity is food. Food. That people will be looking to the graves to dig up people to eat because there’ll be no food on Earth.
Support Awliyaullah and Your Soul Will Be Rewarded
So, this means it’s not something small. Awliyaullah (saints), they are planning 10, 15, 20 years in advance and everybody mock, mock, mock. It doesn’t matter like the ship of Nuh (as). But when they have nothing to eat and they’re pounding on the gate, ‘Let me in.’ I said, ‘But weren’t you the one complaining about this was $5 more than Costco? Go now in line in Costco please.’ Don’t you see the line that goes all the way around the block 3 times? There’s no line here. That’s tariqah (spiritual path). Zakah of tariqah, the shaykh inspires for you give from whatever Allah (AJ) gave to you so that they can do their dawah. Propagate their message, you’ll be blessed from everything that people read on the internet, on a book, on social media.
All of it, Haqqiqatul Muhammadiyah (the Muhammadan Reality) of the highest levels of reality. Not all the tafsirs and all the different videos of wudu (ablution). These are from the realities of the Sultanate of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. The one word and one letter that they read, what reward will Allah (AJ) dress upon the soul of the one reading it? Imagine the one of the soul who is propagating and supporting it, the patrons of that reality. If they don’t have a tongue to speak it, at least they put their money behind it to propagate the message moving everywhere. Because now we’re even seeing this is now the Mahdiyun time. Everything is now collapsing, ‘boom, boom, boom.’
Zakah of Ma’rifah – Be Inspired to Live a Life of Khidmat
Zakah from tariqah, zakat al-shari’ah, zakat al-tariqah, zakat al-ma’rifah. Ma’rifah (gnosticism) means now Allah (AJ) want them to be people who witness and they begin to sacrifice everything in their life. Not they give from their property, they went above that. The shaykh begin to inspire you give yourself, put your head on the table. You become and live a life of khidmat (service). That’s why the shaykh inspires people, ‘Come along. Let’s go do our dawah.’ Come be of service here because this is the zakat of ma’rifah.
How they going to reach to witness a reality when they don’t want to put anything of their time, they just want to see everything? No, they already came through the door, they gave their minimum. Then they came to the higher level in which they’re giving a lot from what Allah (AJ) has given to them. Now they’re at the door of ma’rifah (gnosticism) and Allah (AJ) now again inspire within them – now give yourself. Because He says how you’re to get to this station when you haven’t achieved what others achieved from before you? They gave their life, their family, their wealth, and all the possessions. You’ll be tested like those who came before you. How you’re going to reach these stations of iman (faith) when all those were tested severely? I’m not going to take any test. I want to reach the highest levels of iman (faith), then Allah (AJ) said, ‘No, call them.’
Being of Service Strengthens Your Account With Allah (AJ)
That’s why we say this tariqas (spiritual paths) have a curriculum. They know the movement in which Prophet ﷺ wants people. Whatever ridicule people want to give, they don’t care. With whatever trembling they’re giving, they don’t care. Take from them. Then convince them to be of service. Write. Post. Do dawah. Cook. Do something to show the khidmat (service). This khidmat in the way of Allah (AJ) and Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ opens immense rahmah (mercy).
When you’re praying, pray, ‘Ya Rabbi, please spare my life, take away this sickness, take away this sickness, take away this sickness.’ Says, ‘Why?’ Have you ever thought there’s a voice on the other side saying, ‘Why?’ You actually, you serve no purpose on this Earth, get out of here. You can go. But a life of khidmat, Allah (AJ) says, ‘There’s no need to take you right now. You’re doing good work, great effort. You’re propagating their message and the image of My most beloved.’
So, this means then our hisaab has something in it. If I serve a purpose for you, ya Rabbi, keep me alive. If I don’t serve a purpose for you, I’m better off dead. I didn’t want to be here anyways. I don’t know how you got me into this station and to this dunya (material world), “Agar bihoodeh migooyam mara khamoosh kon.” What we’re reciting “Ya Rab.” If I’m telling a lie, ya Rabbi, extinguish me.
Be harfam goosh kon, ya Rab Be dardam goosh kon, ya Rab
Agar bihoodeh migooyam Maraa khamoosh, kon ya Rab
O my Lord, please listen to my plea. Listen to my pain and sorrow. And if I am speaking nonsense to You, then You extinguish me and make me nonexistent.
Awliya Give Us a Greater Purpose in Life
If I have a purpose for you, give me the purpose to do. If I have no purpose, I’m better off dead. Because everyday that goes by without a purpose for me, I’m moving away from faith. I’m just becoming leisure and vacation time. So, it means our khidmat (service) in our way, it gave us a purpose.
So, as a community the shaykh gives everybody a purpose. Our purpose is our dawah (religious propagation). Our books, our internet, our social media and now our big Mawlid. Six years, mashAllah, in a row, it gives us a purpose. We’re going to make a grand and beautiful Milad-e-Nabi ﷺ (celebration of Prophet’s ﷺ birth). That is the zakah of ma’rifah (gnosticism). The student now is giving of themselves and Allah (AJ) begin now to accept their zabiha (sacrifice). They are sacrificing themselves.
Zakah of Haqiqah – Prophets Were Cleansed by Their Sacrifice
When we talked about maqamul Iman (station of faith) where Sayyidina Ibrahim (as) and Sayyidina Ismail (as). Sayyidina Ibrahim (as) gave his property. And Sayyidina Ismail (as), which is the lineage and the light of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ which is much higher, and he told his baba that, ‘You were giving me. I was sacrificing myself for Allah (AJ).’ Now is the zakah (charity) of haqiqah.
37:102 – “Falamma balagha ma’ahus sa’ya qala ya bunayya inni ara fee almanami annee adhbahuka fanzhur ma dha tara, Qala ya abati if’al ma tu maru, satajidunee inshaAllahu minas Sabireen.” (Surat As-Saffat)
“And when he reached with him [the age of] exertion, he said, “O my son, indeed I have seen in a dream that I [must] sacrifice you, so see what you think. He said, ‘O my father, do as you are commanded. You will find me, if Allah wills, one of the Patient/steadfast.’” (Those Who Set the Ranks, 37:102)
Ma’rifah – you gave a khidmat and service. Haqiqah (reality) – you put your head, you’re going to sacrifice everything and every type of humiliation, every type of difficulty, every type of test becomes your way. And their only response to you is don’t talk, don’t talk, don’t talk. You have a mouth. They can open their mouth and fight everybody. But Prophet ﷺ order, be humiliated for me, stay quiet for me, sacrifice yourself for me. Then they learn the ocean of humility. They took a way in which they’re not supposed to respond. They don’t care how much people ridicule and humiliate them; their life was to not respond.
Sayyidina Musa (as) Accepted Humiliation For the Love of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ
Where we saw with Sayyidina Musa (as), Kalimullah, who speaks to Allah (AJ) and being ridiculed by Sayyidina Khidr (as). You go, you’re not going to have patience, how could you have patience when you don’t know anything?
18:67-68 – “Qala innaka lan tastatee’a ma’iya sabra. (67) Wa kayfa tasbiru ‘ala ma lam tuhit bihi khubra. (68)” (Surat Al-Kahf)
“(The Other) said, Verily you will not be able to have patience with me! (67) And how can you have patience for what you do not encompass in knowledge? (68)” (The Cave, 18:67-68)
He’s from the great prophets of Allah (AJ). But he took that path and that reality to be in the presence of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. I want to go where two rivers meet, Ya Rabbi. I want the reality of la ilaha ilAllah Muhammadun RasulAllah ﷺ.
18:60 – “Wa idh qala Mosa lefatahu laa abrahu hatta ablugha majma’a albahrayni aw amdiya huquba.” (Surat Al-Kahf)
“Behold, Moses said to his attendant, I will not give up until I reach the junction of the two seas or (until) I spend years and years in travel.” (The Cave, 18:60)
What Allah (AJ) ask of him? Then meet one of my servants who’s going to humiliate you, stay quiet. And big for Kalimullah, one whom speaks to Allah (AJ), ridicule, ridicule until Sayyidina Khidr (as) threw him out. You think your shaykh throws you out? Sayyidina Khidr (as) threw Sayyidina Musa (as) out. This is me and you is finished.
18:78 – “Qaala haazaa firaaqu bainee wa bainik; sa unabi ‘uka bitaaweeli maa lam tastati’ ‘alaihi sabraa” (Surat Al-Kahf)
“He answered: ‘This is the parting between me and thee: now will I tell thee the interpretation of (those things) over which thou wast unable to hold patience.'” (The Cave, 18:78)
How could somebody talk to a prophet like that? And he took his, he took his shamefulness for the love of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ.
Give of Your Wealth to Reach a Heavenly Station
So, it means the zakah (charity) is an ever-expanding ocean of reality. It’s not I gave 2.5%, shaykh. We’re all good, I’m good with Allah (AJ). Allah (AJ) saying, ‘No, no.’ When they die the first thing they’re going to ask Allah (AJ), ‘Let me go back, empty my accounts.’ Because one, you’re going to ask me for what’s in these accounts and how did I amass them?
And two, I could have reached a darajah (spiritual rank); I could have become from saliheen (righteous) which then would become shuhuda (witnesses) then they would have taken you to siddiqeen (truthful) and siddiqeen would’ve hand you to nabiyeen (prophets) and enter into the heart of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ.
4:69 – “Wa man yuti’ Allaha war Rasula faolayeka ma’al ladheena an’ama Allahu ‘alayhim minan Nabiyeena, was Siddiqeena, wash Shuhadai, was Saliheena wa hasuna olayeka rafeeqan.” (Surat An-Nisa)
“And whoever obeys Allah and the Messenger (pbuh) are in the company of those on whom Allah has bestowed His Favours/Blessings – of the prophets, the sincere Truthful, the witnesses (who testify), and the Righteous, and excellent are those as companions.” (The Women, 4:69)
Subhana rabbika rabbal ‘izzati ‘amma yasifoon, wa salaamun ‘alal mursaleen, walhamdulillahi rabbil ‘aalameen. Bi hurmati Muhammad al-Mustafa wa bi siri Surat al-Fatiha.
