Be Nothing: The Secret of Spiritual Power and True Humility Q&A
From the Realities of Mawlana (Q) as taught by Shaykh Nurjan Mirahmadi
أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ ٱلْرَّجِيمِ
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
A’uzu Billahi Minash Shaitanir Rajeem
Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem
I seek refuge in Allah (AJ) from the accursed Satan
In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful
Alhamdulillahi Rabbil ‘aalameen, was salaatu was salaamu ‘alaa Ashrafil Mursaleen, Sayyidina wa Mawlana Muhammadul Mustafa ﷺ.
Always a reminder for myself, ana abdukal ‘ajeez, wa dayeef, wa miskin, wa zhalim, wa jahl, and but for the grace of Allah (AJ) that we’re still in existence.
أَطِيعُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُوا الرَّسُولَ وَأُولِي الْأَمْرِ مِنكُم… ﴿٥٩﴾ …
4:59 – “…Atiullaha wa atiur Rasula wa Ulil amre minkum…” (Surat an-Nisa)
“…Obey Allah, obey the Messenger, and those in authority among you…” (The Women, 4:59)
Question 1: Sometimes these realities and levels of spiritual growth seem impossible to achieve, leaving us with a deep sense of disappointment. How can we overcome these feelings?
Shaykh Nurjan Mirahmadi: Yeah, it is a good feeling to feel that you can’t achieve it. So that’s when we understand that it is not based on you. If you think you can achieve it, then there is a false pride within you thinking, how could you possibly achieve these things that we’re describing, right? So the door, the entry of Surah Tawbah was what? I don’t exist. The gateway to enter this knowledge and this way, “La ilaha illa anta Subhanaka, innee kuntu minazh zhalimeen.” ‘I don’t exist.’
…لَّا إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا أَنتَ سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّي كُنتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ ﴿٨٧﴾
21:87 – “… La ilaha illa anta Subhanaka, innee kuntu minazh zhalimeen.” (Surat Al-Anbiya)
“…There is no god/deity except You; Glory to you: Indeed I have been of the wrongdoers/Oppressor to Myself!” (The Prophets, 21:87)
Were you supposed to get your realities, your knowledges, and then achieve something? No. Because you came and said, ‘I don’t exist. I don’t exist.’ “La ilaha illa anta Subhanaka, innee kuntu minazh zhalimeen.” Ya Rabbi, I’m a zalim, I’m an oppressor to myself. So you took a path to say, ‘I’m nothing. I’m nothing. I’m nothing.’
Then you were supposed to meditate so that their light enters into your reality. They’ll bring their light to you. They’re not interested in promoting your light. Because then you become Fir’aun (pharaoh), where you now become more than them. Then you would come against the shaykh, then you would come against his shaykh, then you would come against, astaghfirullah (I seek forgiveness from Allah (AJ)), the big boss. That’s what we call ‘ananiya (I-ness), where Fir’aun was saying, ‘Ana rabbiul ‘Aala,’ astaghfirullah. ‘I am the Lord Most High.’
فَقَالَ أَنَا رَبُّكُمُ الْأَعْلَى ﴿٢٤﴾
79:24 – “Faqala ana rabbukumu al ‘Aala.” (Surat An-Nazi’at)
“And Fir’aun (Pharoah) said, I am your Lord All-Highest!” (Those Who Drag Forth, 79:24)
So they’re not going to make a tariqah (spiritual path) like that. Tariqah is not about people becoming powerful. It was about the reverse, that you had to achieve binary code and to be a nuqt (dot). We read Bahu (Q). Bahu (Q) was describing the nuqt. Our life is just a nuqt, nuqt, nuqt. But if you’re a nuqt and all of a sudden a power comes into you, that’s not from you. It is from them. So all you had to achieve when you hear these – is to be a nuqt. ‘I want to be nothing, I want to be nothing, I want to be nothing’.
So Mawlana Shaykh (Q), Sultanul Awliya (King of Saints), would say that, ‘Every wali (saint) is point this, point one, point two, point three. I’m point zero, zero, zero, zero, one, two, four or one, hundred and twenty-four; four, two, one.’ It means he made himself to be the humblest of awliya (saints). He said, ‘But,’ you have to be careful because it is dot, zero, zero, zero, zero, zero, zero, four, two, one. But if Allah (AJ) flip the switch and turns him ON, he becomes dot, hundred and twenty-four thousand. All their power is in him. He is giving them power.
So it was how much he could become humble and he got the degree and the title of Sultanul Awliya. Because he was encompassing all their powers. But if you went to him, he would say, please pray for me and pray. People overwhelmed by the humility. Some even tried to take advantage because of the humility. But he was the symbol of rahmah and mercy and nothingness. Loving, kind, but always reminding, ‘Be nothing, be nothing. No matter what the people want to make you something, but you be nothing.’ So then they compete in trying to be nothing.
But when Allah (AJ) flips the switch, what happens? The nuqt just goes the other way. Then they have Allah’s (AJ) support in whatever they do. But throughout the day, every day, all day, they’re nothing. So people want to come and meet them, they’re nothing. They’re not going to show anything. What Allah (AJ) wants, He changes the decimal point. So that’s the path. It is not about you’re going to achieve anything because then you have the wrong philosophy. But you can compete in being nothing. Compete in being humble, being soft, being kind, as much as possible, inshaAllah.
Question 2: Sayyidi, forgive me for my ignorance. On the arrival of Sayyidina Mahdi (as), the souls destined to be with him (as), will they be connecting to him (as) with the activation of the power of the zikr Hu?
Shaykh Nurjan Mirahmadi: That’s your question? I don’t know. Let’s not go into those types of details. Most important is let’s try to activate zikr (Divine remembrance) of Hu. So let’s be nothing, understand how to do nothing, make your tafakkur, make your contemplation, and open the breath.
So on the book [A Timeless Reality], on the website [NurMuhammad.com], describes tafakkur, how to make a connection with the shaykh. You make the connection. Now within that, there are times that you have to practice breathing. So that you visualize the shaykh, sit there and just, ‘I want to work today on my breath Sayyidi, and I want to bring the power upon my breath.’ Don’t try to visualize. Don’t hallucinate. It is not about trying to see this and see that. Most likely shaitan (satan) will play with you there. ‘I don’t want to see anything. I just want to breathe.’ Visualize the shaykh is in front of you and that, ‘Send that power into my breath.’
When I breathe, I keep practicing my breath, visualize a light from heavens coming in and then all my bad character breathing out. Doing, doing, doing, consistently practicing until they begin to feel the breath coming. So they understand how to put their hands, how to ground their energy and they train and train and train and train until they activate their breathing.
They feel like fire coming in when they breathe and they immediately heat up. Their entire body energy heats up. So you can see people that Allah (AJ) gave that to, they immediately heat up. So then they breathe with this energy to understand and now they call what they call dragon’s breath and fire breath and other people’s understandings. Yeah. Because why? They’re activating something in the soul. So this with the tariqah, with the shaykhs then is strong. They keep practicing, keep practicing their breath and bringing the energy of that breath until their activation of their soul and their breath. When they want and when they do their practices, everything with their breath is coming through as an energy. That becomes an immense importance and understanding that zikr Hu. So once we achieve all of these inner realities, inner breath, inner power, inner energies, what happens? You’re fighting all the devils and drawing closer to the reality of Sayyidina Mahdi (as). So to see him spiritually, to be in their association spiritually is supreme.
As a result of being with them spiritually, then alhamdulillah if Allah (AJ) gives you a life to see the physical day, then alhamdulillah. But to achieve to be with them spiritually is more important. This means you reached cleanliness, you reached a level of training, you reach these realities of light. Even if you pass away, your intention was to be with them, you will spiritually be there. That’s the time in which the spiritual dimension is open. Barzakh (purgatory) is open and everybody is there. Yeah, so that’s not something understood. InshaAllah.
Question 3: In the destruction of the nations, there is much to contemplate in the story of Qarun having been swallowed into the earth. Is there any hikmah (wisdom) of the sons who were spared?
Shaykh Nurjan Mirahmadi: Hmm? Where are you getting that from? Qarun and Nabi Musa (as), that was a different chapter. Where we were on, let’s stick with Surah Qamar. Yeah, then on the theme because this the tajalli (manifestation) of qamar. Remember I told you about the driving? They’ve abandoned him. They’re not sending him any questions. He is like, oh, look he is in the hot seat now. The guys back there say, ‘Oh,’ they get nervous when we start getting fiery. But then he is like, ‘Let’s not send him any questions.’ ‘Well, Shaykh, what about the red shoes?’ What red shoes? What are you talking about?
Question 4: Sayyidi, is there any reality of the winter solstice and summer solstice with the regards to Hu?
Shaykh Nurjan Mirahmadi: Hmm? Hmm? No. I don’t know. I don’t know if there is or not. I don’t know the solaces and the winter and yeah, don’t know.
Question 5: Sayyidi, can spiritual attacks or blessings sent to one person extend to another having similar DNA even when they aren’t deserving it? Like siblings getting some tajalli simply because of closely matched DNA?
Shaykh Nurjan Mirahmadi: I don’t know. I don’t think it is based on DNA but it is based on what Allah (AJ) has written upon the soul. It means your proximity to a sibling is like a sharing of an energy. That if Allah (AJ) has destined for your soul with your sibling to be very close in their energy and in their reality, then what Allah (AJ) dress upon you can affect that companionship. It dresses upon them as well as the difficulties they encounter can be dressed upon you.
So, there are people whom, whether through relationship or not, they have a familiarity in which Allah (AJ) may link certain realities. I don’t understand if it is based on the DNA. But something, it can be understood that way because the DNA is like a kitab (book). That what is written and destined for the servant—if Allah (AJ) has written it into that program—then they have a familiarity, they have a connection. The connection can also be with someone you don’t know. So, Allah (AJ) is free to do whatever Allah (AJ) wants to write. But there are people whom are connected to you that you may not know, and their prayers have an effect upon you, that they pray continuously for your goodness.
So, there are many different systems that Allah (AJ) has activated, and that we know just through the realities of guidance. It means that the guides are responsible for the souls that they know, and the souls may be their physicality doesn’t know, but their soul has been made aware of. Allah (AJ), on the Day of Promises, partitioned those souls to be under the guidance of that shaykh or under the guidance of that reality. So, many things are possible. We can’t say no to whatever Allah (AJ) wants. But to say that do we have a teaching for that? No. So, we don’t have a direct teaching for that, but everything is possible.
So, there are people who can be affected by each other, people whom they have a close relationship of the soul. That the good that you do, because the soul is something that you may not be aware of—its emotions, its attachments, its ability. So, for example, if somebody has a very subtle soul, anything they come in touch with, they are involved. If they watch something too emotional, their soul is getting involved. Those types of people should never watch documentaries because their soul is getting involved now. They see like torment, or a documentary of ‘azaab (punishment), or a documentary of sadness. Their soul has such a system—immediately it gets involved, wants to go and visit. What happened there? What was this? Who got hurt? The same people, if they come across too many people with difficulties, they take on the difficulty. The physicality didn’t ask for that, but the soul kind of going around and trying to resolve everything.
So, there has to be a certain amount of training. If they ever come across a shaykh, and they say, ‘Oh I have a lot of these types of situations where I’m continuously feel like I’m carrying burdens of people that I didn’t ask to do that.’ Then they’re trained to have a more distant relationship with people. Don’t get emotionally involved in talking to everybody. Don’t try to listen to everybody’s problems, because physical and soul are different. Your physical may be just think it is just chatting, but your soul is like, ‘I have to resolve this,’ and actively gets involved in these situations and can carry lots of burdens and lots of difficulties.
So, this relationship between physical and the soul is very complicated, complex. But depending upon what Allah (AJ) has destined for people. So that’s why we say that it is best not to always try to call all your relatives and find out all the problems, try to listen to everything. Because inevitably your soul is going to have an emotion to hear a certain thing and then try to carry that difficulty. All of a sudden, you find difficulties coming now into your life. So, you have to have a sense of distance and a sense of understanding to protect the nature of your reality, unless Allah (AJ) give you a strength to do that.
But even from the shaykhs, they don’t want to hear about too many difficulties. They’re you know, if you say, ‘I want to go find all the people with problems and bring them to you Sayyidi.’ No, you’re going to collapse them and crush them through the burdens of people. So, they’re trained to keep a distance. The souls that want guidance and actively involved and doing their khidmat (service), then alhamdulillah. Those are the people whom Allah (AJ) has destined. But to actively look for problems to resolve? They’re not interested. All humanity is in a problem now—Armageddon is coming. So yes, alhamdulillah, we have to have a consciousness and aware. If we feel that we’re the type of people that are involved with difficulty, learn how to distance yourself from difficulties and save yourself. Save your little lifeboat with yourself and family or loved ones, inshaAllah.
Sayyidina Abu Bakr (as) is the Sultan of the Siddiqs
With that, thank you very much. Allah (AJ) dress everyone, bless everyone, and grant us from the birth of Sayyidatina Fatima Zahra (as) and ‘urs mubarak (holy anniversary of passing) of Sayyidina Abu Bakr as Siddiq (as) and Siddiq al-Mutlaq (the Absolute Truthful). That the immense father of this tariqah and the Sultan (King) of the saad, the Sultan of the Siddiqs, that to dress us from this reality. From his barakah (blessings) these understandings are coming and his immense love for Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ.
Anyone who shows up at his doorstep saying that, ‘I have a love for Prophet ﷺ, help me to improve myself.’ His immense oceans of generosity, on how to be a sadiq (truthful), how to take the path of truth. How to be truthful with our love and our allegiance to Prophet ﷺ. That his support is ever-flowing, like the ‘asaa (cane) that we carry. We carry an ‘asaa as a sunnah (traditions of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ). We described before that Sayyidina Abu Bakr as Siddiq (as) is the embodiment of an ‘asaa. As soon as we carry the ‘asaa and the sunnah of Prophet ﷺ, we are carrying the reality of Sayyidina Abu Bakr as Siddiq (as) with us. That ‘I will be like the ‘asaa for you that help you, support you, guide you in the way of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ,’ inshaAllah.
Subhana rabbika rabbal ‘izzati ‘amma yasifoon, wa salaamun ‘alal mursaleen, walhamdulillahi rabbil ‘aalameen. Bi hurmati Muhammad al-Mustafa ﷺ wa bi siri Surat al-Fatiha.
