
Real Guidance is Through Love
From the Realities of Mawlana (Q) as taught by Shaykh Nurjan Mirahmadi.
A’uzu Billahi Minash Shaitanir Rajeem
Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem
I seek refuge in Allah from Satan, the rejected one
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Alhamdulillahi Rabbil ‘aalameen, was salaatu was salaamu ‘alaa Ashraful Mursaleen, Sayyidina wa Mawlana Muhammadul Mustafa ﷺ. Madad ya Sayyidi ya Rasulul Kareem, Ya Habibul ‘Azeem, unzur halana wa ishfa’lana, ‘abidona bi madadikum wa nazarekum.
Awliyaullah Extract the Blessings from the Muhammadan Realities
It’s not going to leave for a few nights, the thought and continuously making tafakkur (contemplation), that A’uzu Billahi Minash Shaitanir Rajeem, Bismillahir Rahmanir, Atiullaha wa atiur Rasula wa Ulil amre minkum.
﴾أَطِيعُواللَّه وَأَطِيعُوٱلرَّسُولَ وَأُوْلِي الْأَمْرِ مِنْكُمْ … ﴿٥٩
4:59 – “…Atiullaha wa atiur Rasula wa Ulil amre minkum…” (Surat An-Nisa)
“… Obey Allah, Obey the Messenger, and those in authority among you…” (The Women, 4:59)
And that awliyaullah (saints) come into our life and teach us the Holy Hadith (traditions of Prophet ﷺ), Holy Qur’an, Holy hadith of Prophet ﷺ in a depth that is connected to the holy heart of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. They are not merely a translating service, where they just take the Arabic and recite it in Urdu for you or English for you, but to extract from the blessings and the reality that the holy heart of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ wants to convey.
Hadith al Qudsi of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ
So Hadith al Qudsi is Holy Hadith, holy sayings and way of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ – number 15. That Sayyidina Abu Huraira (ra) reported that Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ said that, ‘Allah (AJ) says I am as My servant expects Me to be. I am as My servant sees Me to be.’ It means I am as he’s wishing or she’s wishing I will appear in that way to the servant. ‘And if he remembers Me in himself, I will remember him to Myself. If he mentions Me in a gathering, I will mention him in a greater gathering.’
So one, there’s a gathering of love. There’s a time in which to love Allah (AJ) by yourself and mention and make your zikr (Divine Remembrance) and there’s a time in which Allah (AJ) is mentioning a gathering. And that you’re coming to show that love for Allah (AJ) and Allah (AJ) promised, ‘I am going to mention you in a greater gathering. And when he or she draws near to Me by the span of one hand I will draw near to them the length of a cubit’ – that is a few meters. ‘If he draws to Me by these meters I will draw to him the length of a mile. When he comes to Me walking, I will come to My servant running.’
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى: أَنَا عِنْدَ ظَنِّ عَبْدِي بِي، وَأَنَا مَعَهُ إِذَا ذَكَرَنِي، فَإِنْ ذَكَرَنِي فِي نَفْسِهِ ذَكَرْتُهُ فِي نَفْسِي، وَإِنْ ذَكَرَنِي فِي مَلَإٍ ذَكَرْتُهُ فِي مَلَإٍ خَيْرٍ مِنْهُمْ. وَإِنْ تَقَرَّبَ إِلَيَّ بِشِبْرٍ تَقَرَّبْتُ إِلَيْهِ ذِرَاعًا، وَإِنْ تَقَرَّبَ إِلَيَّ ذِرَاعًا تَقَرَّبْتُ إِلَيْهِ بَاعًا، وَإِنْ أَتَانِي يَمْشِي أَتَيْتُهُ هَرْوَلَةً. [البخاري عن أبي هريرة]
‘An Abi Hurairah (ra) qala, qala anNabi ﷺ, Yaqulo Allahu ta’ala:
“Ana ‘inda zanni ‘abdi bi, wa ana ma’ahu iza zakarani, fa in zakarani fi nafsihi zakartuhu fi nafsi, wa in zakarani fi malayi zakartuhu fi malayi khayrin minhum. Wa in taqarraba ilayya beshebrin, taqarrabtu ilayhi zera’an. Wa in qarraba ilayya zera’an, taqarrabtu ilayhi ba’an. Wa in atani yamshi ataytuhu harwalah.” [Sahih Al Bukhari, 6970, Sahih Muslim 2675]
Narrated by Abi Hurairah (ra) that Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said that, “Allah the Most High said, ‘I am as my servant thinks/expects me. I am with him when he mentions/remembers me. If he mentions Me to himself, I mention him to myself. And if he mentions me in an association/congregation, I mention him in a greater/higher association than that. If he draws near to me a hand’s span/length, I draw near to him by the length of a cubit/arm’s length. If he draws near to Me by the length of a cubit, I draw near to him by the length of a fathom (6 feet). And if he comes to Me walking, I run to him.’” [Sahih Al-Bukhari 6970, Sahih Muslim 2675]
Allah (AJ) Will Appear to You According to Your Expectation
We talked last night but these teachings, when they begin to teach on something, you tafakkur for days, meditate and contemplate for days. ‘Ya Rabbi what is the depth of what Prophet ﷺ was teaching?’ Just the beginning part alone that, ‘My servant will see Me in their condition,’ which is big difficulty now! That is, everybody meets a religious person, makes their understanding about the religion based on the ambassadorship of that person. Not that they meant Allah (AJ) and not that they really understood or read those holy books. But it’s me and you that convey what that belief is. And Allah’s (AJ) saying that, ‘There’s about 7 billion understandings of Me. I will appear as My servant is expecting Me.’
Start Purifying Your Characteristics
So it means, imagine how many people are angry and they believe that their Lord is an angry Lord! That, they’re angry people. And you can only see in your own condition; you can’t see in a condition of perfection. So what Allah (AJ) warning to Prophet ﷺ is, ‘They are only going to know Me through their characteristics. You better start teaching them and purifying their characteristics.’
So if the person is violent, they come with a belief that their Lord accepts violence. When they’re angry they believe their Lord allows anger and they inflict anger upon everybody. And that’s why many people have had religious experiences that are traumatic to them and they say, ‘I don’t want anything to do with God.’ No, that had anything to do with God, that had to do with that angry person! That has nothing to do with Allah (AJ), he wasn’t hired as a representative of Allah (AJ). He’s merely angry and he conveys his Lord as someone angry too. And Allah (AJ) says, ‘Yes,’ this is a Holy Hadith right below the level of Holy Qur’an is Hadith al Qudsi, that, ‘He will see me in his condition.’
Take a Nightly Accounting of Yourself
So awliyaullah are dispatched onto the Earth that, ‘Clean their condition so that they can understand their Lord.’ And that’s why Prophet ﷺ described, ‘Who knows himself will know his Rab (Lord).’
“قَال رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ:” مَنْ عَرَفَ نَفْسَهْ فَقَدْ عَرَفَ رَبَّهُ
Qala Rasulullahi ﷺ: “Man ‘arafa nafsahu faqad ‘arafa Rabbahu”
The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said: “Who knows himself, knows his Lord.”
When he’s ‘arif (knower) of himself he’ll know his Rab, why? Because as soon as you take a path that, ‘I want to come shaykh and I want to get to know myself before I want to speak on God’s behalf; I want to know myself.’ So, sit and begin to meditate; we’ll train with you, teach you how to meditate, make muhasabah, take an accounting of yourself. If you have ghadab and anger – we said it – two minutes later after the association last night, somebody got angry and walked out. Because the energy that comes, it’s real! The energy’s coming and begin to push onto the nafs (ego).
Don’t Remain Under False Impressions, Contemplate to Identify Your Sickness!
And only through your meditation and tafakkur, you sit and begin to contemplate every night, ‘I just want to meditate. I don’t know about all these other religious practices, I just want to meditate.’ Listen to something nice and, ‘My Lord, I want to know about myself. What did I do today that You’re not happy with? And who did I harm with my tongue and my actions?’ Hopefully not with your hands and shouldn’t be doing anything like that! Who did we talk bad to and act bad with, that Allah (AJ) won’t be happy with? As soon as they take a path of muhasabah, they’re sitting every night and identifying my sickness. If you don’t identify your sickness, you’re double jahil – you’re ignorant of your ignorance which is the most dangerous person. That, he’s under the impression that he is great. He is ignorant to his own ignorance.
Cry and Ask Your Lord to Take Away Your Bad Characteristics
So what they came is, ‘Identify the sicknesses.’ And then at least now we have an opportunity to work on them, ‘I have anger, I have anger – ghadab. I have all these different characteristics, O my Lord.’ And then they teach you how to begin to pray and cry. Ask your Lord to take this anger away, take this bad character away. Then the shaykhs have a whole system of training. If you have anger, keep praying that, ‘God, take it away.’ And every time you feel angry, go make a washing; go make wudu (ablution), put water on your hands and face and say, “Qulna ya Naaru kuni Bardan wa Salaman ‘ala Ibrahim.” Let the fire to be cool and peaceful so that my bad characteristic is not coming out.
﴾قُلْنَا يَا نَارُ كُونِي بَرْدًا وَسَلَامًا عَلَىٰ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ﴿٦٩
21:69 – “Qulna ya Naaru, kuni Bardan wa Salaman ‘ala Ibrahim.” (Surat Al-Anbiya)
“We said, O fire, be cool and Peaceful upon Abraham.” (The Prophets, 21:69)
You See People According to the Condition You’re In
So it means, the importance of what they’re teaching and what Allah (AJ) is warning, ‘Everybody thinks of Me in their state.’ Then come now to an understanding is it’s between the shaykhs, the guides, the teachers, and people. Because it now inherits. You view people according to your state and not the state of truth! Because Allah’s (AJ) saying, ‘They see Me…’ you know they think if they saw Allah (AJ) like that, imagine between me and you! Of what we think with each other based on our state, but it’s not necessarily my state that you see. You view me and deem me according to the condition you’re in.
.عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : اَلْمُؤْمِنُ مِرْآةُ الْمُؤْمِنِ
‘An Abi Hurrairah (ra), qala, qala Rasulullahi ﷺ “Al mu’min miratal mu’min.”
Narrated Abu Hurairah (ra) that the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said: “The believer is the mirror of the believer.”
If you have deficiencies and suspicions then you suspect everybody and think, ‘Oh, they’re all crooks,’ because maybe you’re the biggest crook because you don’t see people like that. Why? Because if you take what Allah (AJ) giving as an advice is then awliya (saints) come into our life and say, ‘The only character you should have is a character of love.’
Allah (AJ) Created All Creation Out of Love
Allah (AJ) created all this creation in muhabbat and love. So what’s Hu? Hey and waw, Hey and waw – Hu is the essence, “Qul hu,” the essence of all of Holy Qur’an. If you understand Hu, you understood the essence of Holy Qur’an and what Allah (AJ) wants! In the Arabic, Hu is hey for hidayah and guidance; waw for Wadood (the Most Loving).
So means that, ‘Guide them to My Hu.’ And that’s why Allah (AJ) told Prophet ﷺ, “Qul HuwAllahu Ahad.”
﴾قُلْ هُوَ اللَّـهُ أَحَدٌ ﴿١
112:1 – “Qul HuwAllahu Ahad.” (Surat Al-Ikhlas)
“Say, He is Allah, [who is] One.” (The Sincerity, 112:1)
It means, ‘Take them through these categories and these realities but bring them to My Hu, bring them to hidayah and guidance.’
Leave Your Bad Characteristics and Follow the Path of Ahbab an Nabi ﷺ
And the only guidance accepted by Allah (AJ) is those whom carry the waw and they guide through muhabbat (love) and khair and goodness and love. Don’t guide them through suspicion! Don’t be suspicious of people and spreading rumors of people! This is a bad characteristic; this was not the way of Prophet ﷺ. So look at all the different people we know and see all their characteristics, no lanat! There’s no lanat, there’s no cursing. Allah (AJ) didn’t make this world to be a cursed or anyone upon it to be cursed – it’s not muhabbat, this is shaitan (satan) playing with you!
So it means they took away anger and say, ‘I don’t want to follow a path of angry people and to be angry at everybody. I wanted a path of Wadood and muhabbat and love.’ So then they found the Ahbab an Nabi ﷺ (lovers of Prophet ﷺ). Where you’re going to find Wadood, it’s a very systematic program. It’s not a philosophy and it’s not a guessing process, but these Ahlul Hu (People of Hu), they are the people of this hidayah (guidance) and Allah (AJ) granted them this waw, granted them this Wadood.
Reality of Magnetism in the Heart
Now becomes a reality of magnetism. If you understood that I want to find the people of love then Allah (AJ) says, ‘Is this what you want? I’m going to send hidayah and guidance to you.’ There is no guidance except in Allah (AJ) guiding you.
﴾…وَقَالُوا الْحَمْدُ لِلَّـهِ الَّذِي هَدَانَا لِهَـٰذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لِنَهْتَدِيَ لَوْلَا أَنْ هَدَانَا اللَّـهُ ۖ لَقَدْ جَاءَتْ رُسُلُ رَبِّنَا بِالْحَقِّ…﴿٤٣
7:43 – “…wa qalo Alhamdulillahi al ladhee hadana lihadha wa ma kunna linahtadiya lawla an hadana Allahu, laqad jaa at Rusulu Rabbina bil Haqqi…” (Surat Al-A’raf)
“… And they will say, Praise be to Allah, Who has guided us to this [joy and happiness]; and we would never have been guided if Allah had not guided us. Certainly the messengers of our Lord had come with the truth…” (The Heights, 7:43)
You cannot make your heart go in any direction unless Allah (AJ) gives it now its magnetic charge. That becomes the magnetism of the heart. Where Allah (AJ) resides? In the heart! Where is your magnetic pole for your entire being? Your heart! Merely Allah (AJ) when He wants to guide, He sends a pulse, an energy, a polarity to your heart and you immediately become attracted to what Allah (AJ) want you to be attracted to.
So the prophets (as) were what? They were like magnets for the Divine Presence. When God wants to give us guidance and we submit to a higher power, admit that we’re nothing, we’re nothing, guidance can only come from God. He says, ‘Now you got it, I’m gonna put the charge into your heart and like a magnet you’re going to be drawn now.’ And that is the reality of love and Wadood; you’re going to be drawn to the love of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ.
Ahbab an Nabi ﷺ: Guardians of the Door to Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ
And then who are the awliyaullah, who are the Ahbab an Nabi ﷺ? They went through the process and their entire being is locked. They’re locked onto their shaykh who’s the representative of that light. And that light locked on, locked on, locked on, until like a magnet they are locked firm onto that reality of Prophet ﷺ. And then Prophet ﷺ gave them a title, ‘These are my Ahbab (lovers of Prophet ﷺ).’ Ahbab, because also they carry the secret of the baab – the door. They are a door to Prophet ﷺ. It’s not empty, ‘I just made them Ahbab.’ Real Ahbab, they are the people of hubb (love), they have the oceans of a hayat (ever-living). They carry the secret of the ba; all of Holy Qur’an in Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem, all of Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem in the ba. And these ahbab, they are guardians of the door.
Guidance of Love is the Answer to Everything!
So means it’s real! Then they begin to teach that the heart is where the polarity and the magnetic charge is going to come. If God enters into that heart, the magnetic charge, you find yourself moving towards the guidance. We pray that God Almighty, Allah (AJ) grant us guidance, grant us the guidance of love and to leave the bad characteristic. We can see, everybody has eyes and ears to see how people are acting with inappropriate characteristic. And when you ask yourself, ‘This person who’s teaching or appear to be teaching or whatever they’re trying to do, is it from love? And would love do that? Or is it from like a jealousy, a hasad, a bad characteristic?’ It answers all questions!
You take away every type of difficulty and love is the answer for everything. Because if you truly love, you begin to appreciate and show the characteristics of love. They find love in everything they do; they find Allah’s (AJ) love, God Almighty’s love in everything. If you are a servant of muhabbat and real love – not lust – real love, you find the beauty in the flowers. You know that when you say, ‘SubhanAllah, that how these flowers are making these beatific smells! How this beatific ocean, how this beatific scenery!’ If you can be beautiful with nature, imagine then with people! That Allah (AJ) created all these people and He loves them all. And Allah’s (AJ) the only one who can guide them. It means everything about their wujud (existence) and their being is muhabbat and love.
Servants of Love Remember Allah (AJ) All the Time
And then Allah (AJ) described, ‘Then you hit the jackpot! Because if you see Me through love, you see Me through the secret that I wanted. I created all this creation in love. And if you’re a servant of love, you would be remembering Me.’ Don’t you have to remember your wife all the time, your children all the time? Your children move out of your sight, how you become nervous and scared? What Allah (AJ) is showing? Allah (AJ) is very jealous. And they say, ‘Oh don’t put an attribute to Allah (AJ).’ But no, awliyaullah will come and teach you, when Sayyidina Yaqub (as) said to Sayyidina Yusuf (as), ‘You are the light of my eyes,’ Allah (AJ) took the sight away. When Sayyidina Yaqub (as) said, ‘Nur al ‘ayni, ya Yusuf, you’re the light of my eyes,’ Allah (AJ) later, lights went out from the eyes and blindness came. How prophet (as) of Allah (AJ) you can say like that? Allah (AJ) has to be the light of your eyes, the light of your heart, the love of your entire being.
Pray to Allah (AJ) for the Bond of Love and Good Character
So Allah (AJ) is describing for us, ‘I fill you with this love, I fill you with this ishq (love).’ It overtake all of your senses for that Divinely Light. We pray that Allah (AJ) dress us from those lights, bless us from those lights, and give us the best of character so that Allah (AJ) be pleased with us. And dress us from His Divinely Secrets of muhabbat and ishq and how everything was created. And the bond of everything is based on that love!
In Last Days Love Will Vanish From Earth
In that last days, this love begins to go and is replaced with hatred and this Earth becomes the abode of hatred. Love is going to be lifted when these great saints and these great awliya are passing away. They are the vessels of muhabbat and love; when they go then is replacing it with darkness and hatred.
But the few will represent the many. Those whom are left upon the earth with muhabbat, Allah (AJ) will fill them to the weight of all those that had to be filled with love. If it has to be be ten bad, ten good, if it only become two, the two carry the weight of the ten. It means they’ll carry all that barakah and all that blessings because the lovers become less and the haters become more. We pray that Allah (AJ) guide us towards that love, keep us among those lovers and to leave this Earth in a state of love and muhabbat.
Subhana rabbika rabbal ‘izzati ‘amma yasifoon, wa salaamun ‘alal mursaleen, walhamdulillahi rabbil ‘aalameen. Bi hurmati Muhammad al-Mustafa wa bi siri Surat al-Fatiha.
