God’s Light (Nur) Like Laser Burning Away Sinful Rust in Iron of the Heart
From the Realities of Mawlana (Q) as taught by Shaykh Nurjan Mirahmadi
A’udhu Billahi Minash Shaitanir Rajeem
Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem
I seek refuge in Allah from Satan, the rejected one
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
“Atiullaha wa atiur Rasula wa Ulil amre minkum.”
4:59 – “…Atiullaha wa atiur Rasula wa Ulil amre minkum…” (Surat An-Nisa)
“… Obey Allah, obey the Messenger, and those in authority among you…” (The Women, 4:59)
And always a reminder to myself that ana abdukal ‘ajeez, wa dayeef, wa miskin, wa zhalim, wa jahl. And but for the Grace of Allah (AJ) that we’re still in existence. We took a path then to be nothing. I’m not a shaykh, not a this or that, just a servant of Allah (AJ) if He accepts us, a lover of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, if he accepts us ﷺ, inshaAllah.
There are Secrets Within the Mirroring of Arabic Calligraphy
That a reminder always for myself that something that said may sound so simple but yet it’s so complex. This understanding of mirrors and mirroring, and we see it in all Islamic huroof (Arabic letters) and art, where they take the hu and they mirror it.
They take the qalam (words) and they mirror it to the other, like a symmetry of each qalam. And that we are made in a perfect mirror, a symmetry. That the right reflects to the left and our left reflects to the right. And that the highest level of an understanding of this ayeneh, this mirror is in the kalima (testimony of faith) which is the first usool (principle).
This Path is Based on Understanding the Mirror
So, when people think they understood the first usool, they merely scratched the level of shari’ah (Divine Law). There’s the tariqah (spiritual path), there’s the haqiqah (reality), ma’rifah (gnosticism), and, azimah (determination) of every knowledge. At its highest level, the ayeneh (mirror) that is most important is la ilaha illallah Muhammadun RasulAllah ﷺ. And when they write it in lam alif, it’s to show it’s connected but it’s reflecting.
“La ilaha illallahu Muhammadun RasulAllah”
“There is no deity but Allah, Prophet Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.”
And our path is based on understanding this mirror. And understanding the reality that Allah (AJ) wants us to know from an ayeneh, from a mirror, and mirroring. Today when we say mirror, we think of a glass that has a chemical upon it and it reflects to you.
Polish the Rust of the Heart to Reflect the True Reality
But in that time there was no glass. It was about polishing metal. It was about taking an iron, a metal, and polishing it to the extent that it was so clean and so reflective. And that was the importance, that you polished something that had a tendency to become rusted, worn out, and dirty. And when anything gets rusted, it can reflect nothing. So we polish and polish, and polish, and polish. If it’s rusty, it reflects nothing.
And they came into our lives and told us, ‘No. Polish and polish and polish. This reality of polishing – it becomes so shiny that it begins to reflect what it looks at.’ So, the image in the mirror is reflecting back to me. So, when I take myself to the reality, and I direct myself to Allah (AJ) because that which you focus on in life is actually focusing on you. Because you directed your attention and your heart. So, they come into our lives and tell us, ‘Be careful. If you direct your heart and your attention on dunya (material world), dunya will definitely focus back to you, and pull you.’
What You Focus On Will Focus Back On You
That’s why Allah (AJ) shows in all these movies because the people, 99% of the people, are not going to masjids (mosques). You think Allah (AJ) created them out of love and He left them to burn? Or He’s inspiring in different mediums that, ‘Call My Creation back to their senses.’ And in these mediums, they show by these examples. They show all these realities, that which you focus on is focusing on you.
When you focus on evilness and wickedness, and death and destruction, death begins to look back at you because you got its attention. You focus too much on fire and brimstone, and devils and demons, and punishment and jahannum (hellfire). You focus on jahannum, you focus on jahannum, jahannum now got your attention too. Jahannum starts to look back at you and reflect. And you become in your nature very fiery, very angry because jahannum is moving through you and talking through you. And every evilness and wickedness that we focus on will begin to reflect through you, your hearing, your eyes, your speech.
So, they came into our lives and said, ‘Be careful. This being that you are is very powerful, you yet don’t know and understanding its power. Focus on that which is eternal and that which is beatific.’ And they taught us that if you polish your metal, polish your metal, you become so transparent and so clean that you’ll reflect out a reality. So, as they begin to focus on Allah (AJ), focus on the love of Allah (AJ), focus on the love of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, then that begins to focus on them.
The Cleaner You Are, the More Light You Reflect
The cleaner you are, the more zikr (remembrance) you’re doing, the more washing you’re doing, the less we are giving to our bad desires and bad characteristics, that reality can reflect back. It’s not hitting rusted metal. It’s hitting something shiny. When Allah (AJ) is looking at His servant with this light, it’s shining and hitting that metal. And as a reflect, it’s shining back. And Allah (AJ) dressing it, and re-dressing it, and re-dressing it. It’s not going into a void where it hits and just goes into nothingness. It reflected.
When they focus on Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, then Prophet’s ﷺ nazar (gaze) upon them. That’s why Prophet ﷺ gave all of these understandings and secrets that, ‘Make one salawat (praising) upon me. You take one glance into the mirror at me and I give you ten eternal glances back to you.’
Qala Rasulullah (saws): “Man Salla `alaiya Salatan wahidatan, Sallallahu `alayhi `ashra Salawatin, wa Huttat `anhu `ashru khaTeatin, wa ruf`at lahu `ashru darajatin.”
Prophet Muhammad (saws) said: “Whoever sends blessings [Praises] upon me, God will shower His blessings upon him ten times, and will erase ten of his sins, and elevate [raise] his [spiritual] station ten times.” [Hadith recorded by Nasa’i]
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is the Zikr of All Heavens and Earth
And when Prophet ﷺ is glancing back into your soul, into your wajud (existence), into your entire being, what dresses of Holy Qur’an. “Inna hu zikrun,” Surat YaSeen is the heart of Qur’an, and Allah (AJ) giving all the secrets of Qur’an from the heart of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. And Allah (AJ) teaching, “Innaa hu Zikrun wa Quranun Mubeen”, ‘He ﷺ is the zikr of all the sama wa til ard (heavens and earth).’
36:69 – “Wa ma ‘allamnahu shi’ra wa ma yanbaghee lahu, in huwa illa dhikrun wa Quranun Mubeen.” (Surat YaSeen)
We have not taught him (Prophet Muhammad ﷺ ) poetry, nor it is befitting for him. He (Prophet Muhammad ﷺ ) is not but Zikr (Remembrance/Praise) and the Clear Quran. (YaSeen, 36:69)
And he is My walking Qur’an. When he is going to praise you, who are you? A nobody. And this is His extreme rahmah (mercy). And Allah (AJ) amazed, “Khuluqal Azeem.”
68:4 – “Wa innaka la’ala khuluqin ‘azheem.” (Surat Al-Qalam)
Truly, You (O Muhammad!) are of a magnificent character. (The Pen, 68:4)
Take the First Step Towards the Love of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ
That he is going to begin to praise back on you ten times. This ayeneh (mirror) begins to dress you. So, imagine then this formula of this reality. That direct yourself to the love of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ and begin to make your salawats (praisings), and clean, clean, clean until the ayeneh (mirror) becomes so purified. Because just a little bit of purity, just a little bit of effort on your behalf, that’s why Allah (AJ) said, ‘Make one step towards me, and 99 steps I’m coming towards you.’
This means your zikr and your actions, they are not going to fix you. Don’t keep texting, ‘Do I do the 23? Then I do the 24. Then I look down. Then I go up and then I move to the right, and then I move to the left.’ I don’t know what they call it. A-personality, where you’re so meticulous that you lost the understanding. This is not about you doing anything to lift yourself anywhere. You really think you can lift yourself off the ground and into the heavens? You were merely supposed to take one step.
We Are Nothing On This Path of Humility
Just with the intention, ‘Ya Rabbi, I’m intending to clean myself. I’m intending to do my zikr. I’m intending to find some way to be of service. I am an abdukal ‘ajeez, wa dayeef, miskin, zhalim. I am an oppressor to myself, I’m poor, I’m yateem (orphan), I’m nothing. No way can I lift myself. I’m making one step.’ Then I begin just to polish with these actions, not think I’m going to really reach to the heavens and fly with my zikr, ‘Should I do it like this? Should I breathe through this? Should I breathe throughout?’ The questions that you are asking is exposing which is good. It exposes your misunderstanding and your mind.
But this is encouraged to ask because it has to come out, the understanding. This path is a path of humility. That you give me the awrads (daily practices) and the zikrs the shaykh are given, and in no way am I thinking I’m getting anywhere. I’m going to do it out of love and muhabbat (love).
And out of this love and muhabbat, I’m going to follow. And when I begin to do that, that one step is coming. It means you clean a little bit, let the nazar (gaze) of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ begin to hit your mirror. That light, when it hits the mirror, begins to burn everything.
Just the Gaze of Prophet ﷺ is More Powerful Than Any Technology
We said before now they are releasing these videos of these lasers. They go through extreme metal and they don’t burn the metal. They take the rust off, like a fire coming out of it, and it returns it to brand new. If that can do it from Toshiba, imagine the soul and the nazar of Prophet ﷺ.
That’s why we say, “Unzur halana,” that, ‘Ya RasulAllah ﷺ, gaze upon us.’ No mind people they think it’s a physical eye. This eye, more powerful than the strongest sun of all these universes. And if anyone understands what light does, just study the sun in our own galaxy. What type of power and force that sun has?
The Sun is An Imitated Reality of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ
That sun has the spectrum of light that nourishes you, dresses you, blesses you, makes you to see, eat and drink on this earth. If you approach a little bit too much, it’ll burn you and annihilate you into beyond ashes and dust. If you got that close, if you got just a little bit closer, it’ll kill you by radiation. All the spectrums of light that coming from the sun is radioactive. Most of it have to be filtered from the earth. Why? Because Allah (AJ) keep it, that reality hits the earth. Everybody will be fried on this earth.
It has many different spectrums and realities. We only take a small channel from this entire spectrum of light that’s coming from the sun. That sun is imitated reality of the reality of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. You can’t say Allah (AJ), astaghfirullah (I ask for forgiveness). There is nothing like Allah (AJ). It would be a ridiculous understanding. Allah (AJ) beyond the comprehension of this creation. That light, how powerful it is that it can dress.
This means then that nazar (gaze), that mirror, that reality of mirroring is, ‘I just do what they’ve asked of me to the best of my ability.’ Don’t worry about being meticulous because it’s not you going to be lifting anywhere. You do it so that you can begin to crack some of the dirtiness off. And this light of Prophet ﷺ begins to shine through, and burn through every type of rusty bad character, “muhyil qulub, mahidh dhunub”. “Muhyil qulub, mahidh dhunub”. The same light that comes to revive the soul is the same light that burns every sin and every bad action.
Ya Muhyil qulubi, Salaam ‘Alayk
Ya Mahidh dhunubi, Salaam ‘Alayk
Ya Muhyil qulubi, Ya Mahidh dhunubi, Salaam ‘Alayk
O the reviver of the hearts, O the eraser of the sins, Peace be upon you
Anything That Holds a Grip On You is Your Rabb
That reality of mirroring, that at the highest level, what is la ilaha illallah (there is no God but Allah (AJ)). Because these are two mirrors. So, in our life, you first come to what door? When Allah (AJ) inspire you, ‘Give up all the gods that you worship and that you serve’. And everybody serves many gods. They smoke. That’s the god of smoke because they can’t give it up. They drink, that’s the god of intoxication. Anything that holds a grip on you is your rabb (lord). And Allah (AJ) says, ‘Deny all those rabb, and come to Rabbi Al-Ala, most High.’
And inspired in all our hearts come to la ilaha illallah. Everything but the Oneness of Allah (AJ), ‘I want nothing ya Rabbi, of all these vices and all these desires that are like chains onto my feet. When they grab my feet, they grab my hands. And when they grab my feet and my hands, the chains push me into the earth and all the bad desires.’ And then shaitan (satan) throws one big lock. You may have a dream where shaitan is holding you by the neck and goes from home to home throwing chains on people’s neck and then walking with them. It means then shaitan has grabbed you.
When Allah (AJ) inspires us to come, we begin to direct ourself to the mirror of la ilaha illallah. And when you look and when you’re sincere and you come with love, Allah (AJ) begin to reflect the first reality is that, ‘Look into the mirror and what is it that you see?’ Anytime you look into a mirror, you’re not seeing the mirror. I don’t know if anyone understood the concept of the mirror. When you’re looking at the mirror, you’re not seeing the mirror. You’re not seeing Allah (AJ). You see what Allah (AJ) is reflecting to you.
La Ilaha Illallah Mirrors to Muhammadun RasulAllah ﷺ
And who does everyone find when they come towards Allah’s (AJ) highest religion? They look in the mirror and they found Muhammadun RasulAllah ﷺ. Everyone who accepted Islam, was born into Islam, came to the highest deen which is the deen of Islam, they looked into the mirror of la ilaha illallah and Allah (AJ) showed them, ‘Go to Muhammadun RasulAllah ﷺ.’ So, they looked into this mirror. This is the real tawheed (oneness) at the highest level of perfection for us to reach.
They looked into la ilaha illallah and they looked with all their sincerity, ‘I need you, my Lord. I need you, my Lord. I love you. I love you, my Lord. What other people are teaching, I’m not finding it.’ Many came from religions and say, ‘I heard what they preach and I didn’t accept it. I know the oneness of God. And I want to serve the oneness of God.’ How they came to Islam, by saying what? Not la ilaha illallah, but they had to say, “La ilaha illallah Muhammadun RasulAllah ﷺ.” Why? Because the mirror is pointing, they’re looking, and Allah (AJ) reflecting, ‘Go to Muhammadun RasulAllah ﷺ.’
So, this mirror in our life is the most important understanding. If you understood that, you’ll understand our whole way of ma’rifah (gnosticism) is this reality of the mirror. It’s not something simple and ‘I got to teach to my kids.’ You come to la ilaha illallah, and you’re looking with all sincerity, what Allah (AJ) shows you in the reflection? ‘Go to Muhammadun RasulAllah ﷺ.’ He (says) what contains my reality? I’m dressing him from that reality. Not on earth and not on heaven, but I’m in the heart of my believer which is that lamp.
“Maa wasi`anee laa Samayee, wa la ardee, laakin wasi’anee qalbi ‘Abdee al Mu’min.”
”Neither My Heavens nor My Earth can contain Me, but the heart of my Believing Servant.” (Hadith Qudsi conveyed by Prophet Muhammad (pbuh))
The Majesty of Allah (AJ) is Upon the Reality of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ
So lam alif is the secret of that. You’re coming towards that alif, and the Izzat (honour) of Allah (AJ), the Oneness of Allah (AJ). Allah (AJ) is reflecting you to the reflection. Said, ‘My Might and Majesty upon this reality. Direct yourself to Muhammadun RasulAllah ﷺ.’ They entered now into the oceans of tawheed (oneness), and kalima tayeeb where they have been cleaned by this kalima (declaration of faith) and its reality.
“La ilaha illallahu Muhammadun Rasulallah”
“There is no deity but Allah, Prophet Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.”
Even Nabi Musa (as) Sought Greater Haqaiqs
And Nabi Musa (as) wanted this reality, ‘I don’t want what I’ve been given from a lesser degree. I want from the secret of this reality that is above all of the haqaiqs (realities). Because it goes into the greatness and the secret of Allah (AJ). Allah (AJ) was a hidden treasure hidden in this mirror, wanting to be known, hidden in the mirror.
“Kuntu kanzan makhfiyya, fa ahbabtu an a’rafa, fa khalaqtu khalqan, fa ‘arraftahum bi fa ‘arafonee.” Hadith Qudsi
Allah (AJ) said, “I was a hidden Treasure then I desired to be known, so I created a creation to which I made Myself known; then they knew Me.”
You’ll never be able to reach on the veil of la ilaha illallah. Anyone, and they have no mind thinking, they’re going to Allah (AJ). They’re going only to the mirror. And Allah (AJ) give for His sincere servants, ‘Do you realize you have a had and a limit? Oh My Creation, be humble.’
Do you really think you are going beyond this mirror and then you become one with Allah (AJ)? Astaghfirullah! There is a had, a limit. They stopped at the limit and when they were sincere, Allah (AJ) began to shine to them Muhammadun RasulAllah ﷺ.
Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ is the Reflection of Allah (AJ)
‘This is the treasure I wanted you to find. My Names dress this treasure, My Realities dress this treasure. If you want to see Me, look at him ﷺ.’ Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ told his companions, ‘If you’ve seen me, you’ve seen this reflection of Allah (AJ). Seen me, seen me with your heart and with your good character, you would have seen la ilaha illallah reflecting.’ So, then awliyaullah (saints) found, and then they were guided now, ‘Go towards Muhammadun RasulAllah ﷺ.’ They began to look into the mirror of Muhammadun RasulAllah ﷺ.
Qala Abu Qatadah qala Rasulullahi (saws): “Man ra aani, faqad ra’aa alHaq.”
Abu Qatada reported that Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said: “Who has seen me, has seen the truth.” [Imam Al Bukhari 6996, Imam Muslim 2267]
And as a result, Prophet ﷺ is looking back and begin to dress them, dress them, dress them, dress them. And what is he dressing them with? La ilaha illallah. You understand? Wherever you’re looking is dressing you with the reality, Prophet ﷺ dress. When you’re dressing and dressing, and dressing, Prophet ﷺ is dressing you with la ilaha illallah. When you move only towards la ilaha illallah, you’ll get an understanding of only Muhammadun RasulAllah ﷺ.
Allah (AJ) Teaches About the Greatness of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ
The first step in the journey of sincerity you go, Allah (AJ) begin to teach you about the greatness of Muhammadun RasulAllah ﷺ, right? Then He (AJ) begin to tell you “innAllaha wa malaaikatahu yusalluna ‘alan Nabiy ﷺ” (Allah (AJ) and His angels send blessings on the Prophet Muhammad), right? This is in la ilaha illallah.
33:56 – “InnAllaha wa malayikatahu yusalluna ‘alan Nabiyi yaa ayyuhal ladhina aamanu sallu ‘alayhi wa sallimu taslima.” (Surat Al-Ahzab)
Allah and His angels send blessings upon the Prophet [Muhammad ﷺ]: O you that believe! Send your blessings upon him, and salute him with all respect. (The Combined Forces, 33:56)
So, when awliyaullah (saints) are facing this ocean of la ilaha illallah from direct la ilaha illallah, Allah (AJ) teaching them about Muhammadun RasulAllah ﷺ, teaching them the zikrs (remembrances) and the reality of what’s reflecting out into that ayeneh (mirror) of Muhammadun RasulAllah ﷺ – all its beauty, all its dress, all its glorification. And then this la ilaha illallah makes the zikr of, “InnAllaha wa malaaika tahu yusalluna ‘alan Nabi ﷺ” (Qur’an, 33:56). La ilaha illallah makes the zikrs of Muhammadun RasulAllah ﷺ.
Then Allah (AJ) open for them, ‘Go deeper. Direct yourself now into the ayeneh of Muhammadun RasulAllah ﷺ.’ When they directed themself into the reality of Muhammadun RasulAllah ﷺ, then it began to reflect all the realities of la ilaha illallah, but at the level of the heart of Muhammad ﷺ because they fell in love. The ones who didn’t reach between these mirrors, they don’t have the love. They just think they love Allah (AJ).
Be Sincere to Receive the Greatness of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ
If Allah (AJ) accepts your sincerity, He brings you to the mirror to love that which He loves, that which He is reflecting to is what He loves. He brings you into their love story between the two rivers (Shaykh points between the index and middle finger). When you love, He sends you to all the greatness of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. That’s why then, they begin to talk about all the haqaiqs (realities), and the haqaiqs of Muhammadiya. Haqiqatul Muhammadiya ﷺ is the highest levels of teachings.
When Allah (AJ) direct them to Prophet ﷺ, Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ begins to, from the depth of the Muhammadan heart, begin to teach about those realities of la ilaha illallah. That the real zikr of Allah (AJ) must be from the tongue and heart of Muhammadun RasulAllah ﷺ. And they go deep into the reality and the love of Prophet ﷺ. From the heart of Prophet ﷺ is been teaching now the reflection of la ilaha illallah. That’s why when you go to Mecca, it’s actually the presence of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. If you don’t understand the ayeneh, the whole journey is confusing for zahiri (literalist) people. They didn’t get it. And it’s okay, they die without getting it. Because Allah (AJ) says, ‘You’re blind in dunya, you’ll be blind in akhirah.’
(Surat Al-Isra)
But those who were blind in this world, will be blind in the hereafter, and most astray from the Path. (The Night Journey, 17:72)
Mecca is an Active State, Reflecting the Presence of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ
If they got it and they were granted to be with these teachers of haqaiqs (realities), they would have taught them that when you went to Mecca, Mecca is an active state. In the binary code, it’s the active state and the presence of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ must be there. Nabiyeen, Sidiqeen, Shuhada was Saliheen and Allah (AJ) with them, all their souls are there. It’s an active state and it’s busy. And they found it to be busy and agitated and so much happening there. This is the presence of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. It reflected.
4:69 – “Wa man yuti’ Allaha war Rasula faolayeka ma’al ladheena an’ama Allahu ‘alayhim minan Nabiyeena, was Siddiqeena, wash Shuhadai, was Saliheena wa hasuna olayeka rafeeqan.” (Surat An-Nisa)
And whoever obeys Allah and the Messenger (pbuh) are in the company of those on whom Allah has bestowed His Favours/Blessings – of the prophets, the sincere Truthful, the witnesses (who testify), and the Righteous, and excellent are those as companions. (The Women, 4:69)
Prophet ﷺ is in a State of Fana in Medinatul Munawwara
When they came with sincerity, and sincerity to the house of Allah (AJ) for his mukhlis and his sincere servant, he said, ‘If you want to really find me, go now to Medina’ because the reflection of the mirror hit them.
They went, the busy tawaf (circumambulation) and said ‘Ya Rabbi, this is great.’ But when they stepped into Medina, they stepped into Allah’s (AJ) Presence. Why? Because this is the state where Prophet ﷺ is not busy. Prophet ﷺ is in a state of fana (annihilation), alone with his Lord. And what Prophet ﷺ has described from all the hadith that, “qalb al mumin baitullah.”
“Qalb al mu’min baytur rabb.”
“The heart of the believer is the House of the Lord.” Hadith Qudsi
That when the mumin (believer) is tranquil and in complete submission to Allah (AJ), busy with nothing but the Divinely Presence, who do you find in the heart of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ in Medinatul Munawwara? It’s Allah (AJ), Divinely Light. And they find peace and serenity in Medina. They find tranquility and Izzatullah (Allah’s (AJ) Might and Magnificence) in Medinatul Munawwara because the reflection. They entered into Muhammadun RasulAllah ﷺ and it’s reflecting all the realities of la ilaha illallah in Medina. In Medina, the experiences are something unimaginable. In Mecca, the experiences are unimaginable but of a different reality. And this is the concept of ayeneh and mirroring.
Prophetic Light Shines Through Those Who Cleanse Themselves
So, everything in our life, and in our life is about this. And that’s why Prophet ﷺ described, “Minhu wa Minhum.” That these personalities from my family ﷺ , from my companions (as), from awliyaullah fis sama fil ardh (from the heavens and earth), their life was to rid themself of themself. Those whom able to rid themselves and live a life of zikr and praisings and salawats and good actions, and you can see it by the character of what those people are doing.
If they’re busy in the glorification of Allah (AJ) and the praising of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, and all their actions are Muhammadiyun, and all their love and their consciousness is about this Muhammadan ﷺ reality, it’s one of those whom when they are cleaning and doing, cleaning and doing, the prophetic light of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ begin to shine through them. And not only Prophet ﷺ is teaching that, ‘They are from me, but when they rid themself of themself, I will be through them. You will see me in them. You will feel me in them. You will eat with me through them. You’ll be with me through them.’
Be Like the Moon and Focus On the Light and Love of Prophet ﷺ
Because he took his iron and he polished it. And he understood in his path that he’s nothing, and he’s no one. And the rules of zuhud (asceticism) were not to attract attention to yourself. You were supposed to be a moon that was nothing. When you adorn yourself like a peacock and use outrageous colours and outrageous looks, this is something else. It’s a different reality that you are going after.
This reality of the moon and the qamar was ‘Be nothing.’ Be absolutely nothing so that the greatness of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ will reflect through you. And if that reflection is coming through, all your teachings will be of Muhammadiyun. All your focus would be of the light and the love of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ.
Polish the Iron Within the Blood
And where is Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ throughout Holy Qur’an? It’s not about me and you. What Allah (AJ) has ordered for me and you is what Allah (AJ) gave of realities to Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. We negated ourself at the door when we entered in. This iron in your body is your blood. You say now, ‘How am I going to get that, Shaykh?‘ Very easy. The iron in you that’s reflecting and needing polishing is what? Your hemoglobin – what makes you to be red.
Red blood is the iron inside the body of insan (human being). Allah (AJ) gave us iron within our body. This iron within the body has to be polished. When the iron is polished and cleaned and continuous zikr, watching and abstaining from food and drink, this iron becomes polished. This iron becomes strong. This hadd (iron), it’s so important that Allah (AJ) named a surat (chapter) after it. I think it’s Surat 57 (Surat Al-Hadid).
Iron is a Heavenly Element
That it’s an element that not from earth. It’s an element from the heavens, from the universes. It’s iron is not found on the earth. It’s not made on earth. It comes to earth, tanzila (revelation), comes from the heavens onto earth from space and the stars comes out. That iron is found within insan (human being).
If it’s purified, this whole talk of the ayeneh (mirror) is my blood. If I clean it, wash it, watch over how I eat and drink with it, all my characteristics – this iron in my blood will be polished. And the importance of zikr is so important for anyone who understanding wellness, and spiritual wellness, and physical wellness. Your sickness is related to your iron.
This Way is Based On the Breath
When you polish it, you breathe. The breath and all the Naqshbandi shaykhs describe in the Naqshbandi book that this way is based on the breath. This is something not even talked about anymore. The whole of tariqah (spiritual path) was based on the breath – how to breathe, be conscious of your breath, watch what is coming into you as an energy.
This breath comes in, nafas ar-rahmah (breath of mercy), it comes into the believer. This breath, it dresses the energy in the lungs where the blood is coming. The blood is coming off of the lungs dressed from this breath. This blood from the lungs, it moves into the heart. When this blood is being cleaned, this blood is being washed with zikr (remembrance), enters into the heart. The heart that makes zikr is a heart that’s lit with energy. “Dhikrillahi tatma’innul Qulob.”
13:28 – “Alladheena amano wa tatma’innu Qulobu hum bidhikrillahi, ala bi dhikrillahi tatma’innul Qulob.” (Surat Ar-Ra’d)
Those who believe, and whose hearts find satisfaction in the remembrance of Allah. For without doubt in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find satisfaction. (The Thunder, 13:28)
The Heart is Headquarters for the People of Zikr
And the zakireen (people of realism), those who live their lives for zikr, they are cleaned and purified by zikr. They are not the people who don’t make zikr. There is not one wali (pious person) who does not make zikr because then it’s a dirty-hearted person. It’s impossible.
It’s one hundred percent, they make zikr if they are awliyaullah (saints). They can be an outward ulema (scholar) and they don’t do any zikr and their knowledge is useless. But the people of realities, their heart is alive and a factory for Allah (AJ) because now we are going to understand. Their heart is continuous zikr of Allah (AJ), continuous salawat (praising) on Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ because that is the power of their factory. Their factory for their entire being – headquarters is the heart.
The Reality of Prophet ﷺ is Beyond the Seven Heavens
So, imagine then the qudra (power) when their zikr is coming, the light with their zikr is coming. Their hearts are lit like powerhouse, like a sun. They produce so much light people can feel it throughout the earth. There is not a place on this earth, if you don’t focus on them, their light will hit you. And beyond this earth. Because their connection is not from here. Their connection goes beyond all the planets, space and time, into the heavens at a speed of thought. Not Jupiter. Prophet ﷺ is not on Pluto. The reality of Prophet ﷺ is beyond the seven heavens into paradise. And at the speed of thought, their soul is connected receiving its lights and its tajallis (manifestations). Because what power is that?
Zikr in the Heart Moves to Vital Organs of the Body
This means then these lights that are coming, these energies that are coming, their hearts are like a power source, like a factory. As soon as their blood enters into that factory, it’s stamped. It’s dressed. Its sins are washed away, muhyil qulub, mahihdh dhunub (reviver of hearts, eraser of sins). The light that emanating into their heart immediately burns away any type of rust on that one cell, dresses it, and then moves it to the eleven essential organs of the body. There is not a person that can reach anywhere close to these realities if their heart is not doing zikrullah, if they’re not doing awrads and zikrs and practices.
If you want to understand the physiology of why you’re doing zikr (remembrance), it’s not your entertainment purposes. These are energies that come to the heart. These are the power source that come to the heart and it’s what’s necessary to clean this one piece of iron. So that it be dressed by zikrullah, blessed by zikrullah which is the zikr and salawat (praising) on Prophet ﷺ too. It’s all combined. That dressed and blessed iron will go throughout the body, illuminate every cell and vein and organ of the body will be illuminated by that light.
As a result, they are an organic factory. What they produce, produces tremendous benefit for humanity, and they put out virtually no waste. Nothing that comes from them is of any contamination to human beings. So, it’s what you call a clean factory now. That’s why when you watch on television, now what’s the reverse?
A Bad Heart is More Dangerous Than a Toxic Factory
There are factories on this earth that they merely turn on, they’re killing all their neighbourhoods. You’ve seen the smoke come from countries that have no regulations. They turn the factory on to make two pieces of toilet paper. 10,000 homes are being contaminated by the fuels and the smoke that coming.
Then they examined the factories and said, ‘Look at the waste.’ They use toxic acids in their processes. The waste from the bowel of the factory is killing the neighbourhoods, goes into their water supply, kills and destroys everything. Allah (AJ) say, ‘You know what’s more dangerous than this? It’s one human being with a bad heart.’ And that’s what we should have seen, when Allah (AJ) says, ‘I show you my example on the horizon and within yourself.’
41:53 – “Sanureehim Aayaatinaa fil aafaaqi wa feee anfusihim hattaa yatabaiyana lahum annahul haqq; awa lam yakfi bi Rabbika annahoo ‘alaa kulli shai-in Shaheed” (Surat Al-Fussilat)
Soon will We show them our Signs in the (furthest) regions (of the earth), and in their own souls, until it becomes manifest to them that this is the Truth. Is it not enough that your Lord is witness over all things? (Explained in Detail, 41:53)
Will You Go to Your Lord in a Toxic State?
On the horizon, look to a bad factory. Whatever garbage it thinks it is producing, it’s killing 10,000 homes with its breath and from its bowels, poisoning and intoxicating all the water supply for 10,000 homes. And they all have radiation. They have all sorts of contamination. Poor people are dying around these factories. And Allah (AJ) say then, ‘Imagine then one insan (human being) whose heart is more toxic than that factory, doesn’t make zikr (remembrance), is just filled with ghadab and anger.’
Everything that comes from its mouth is a poison. Everything that comes from its wujud (existence) and its being is poisonous and toxic to everything. It’s angry and toxic. And Allah (AJ) says, ‘You have the honour. The factory in the end will be closed down, burned.’ Whatever Allah (AJ) wants to do with it, volcano and cover it. But how can you go to your Lord as a toxic factory? Said, ‘All that came from your mouth was toxic waste.’ And all that came from the bowels and the being of your being was just toxic and killing everyone.
Awliyaullah Are Clean Factories That Harm Nobody and Feed Everybody
So, it means zikr and the reality of this ayeneh (mirror) has immense way of reality. The heart has to be powered, has to be energized, the iron has to be pure and purified, enters into the heart, become a clean factory. What it produces, all of humanity will eat from it. Its reality – it not only cleans for itself, but it’s not contaminating and harming anything around it.
But the end result of what it produces will be eternal. People will eat from its fruits for generations. And these are the futuhaat (revelations) of awliyaullah (saints). Their stamp and footprint on this earth was small. They harmed no one. But they benefited millions of people from the knowledges and the realities that they spread. That today we are still eating, drinking from those fruits.
Tafakkur is the Last Step of Perfection
Supporting – that is not something small. Supporting that is something that ends and goes to the soul and generations. We pray that Allah (AJ) give us more and more understanding. When we say tafakkur (contemplation) and meditation, it’s not something small. This is the end level of all spiritual journeys. Tafakkur is not the beginning step, but they are teaching it in reverse in this dunya and this material world. It was meant to be the final step of perfection. So, it means these ijazas (permissions) to teach tafakkur and contemplation is not entry level. These were the final and the finishing courses for all spirituality.
We pray that Allah (AJ) give us an understanding and in these holy nights of Laylatul Qadr (Night of Power), inshaAllah, tomorrow night we describe more on the Qadr nights. This whole ayeneh (mirror) gives you more understanding what is Laylatul Qadr? And where are you standing and sitting to receive it? InshaAllah.
Subhana rabbika rabbal ‘izzati ‘amma yasifoon, wa salaamun ‘alal mursaleen, walhamdulillahi rabbil ‘aalameen. Bi hurmati Muhammad al-Mustafa wa bi siri Surat al-Fatiha.
