To Be Nothing is the Door to Understanding Qur’an
When we mentioned last night, the mirror at the highest level of ihsan (moral excellence), at the highest level of realities is La ilaha illallah, reflecting to the other mirror of Muhammadun RasulAllah ﷺ.
لَا إِلَهَ إلاَّ اللهُ مُحَمَّدٌا رَسُولْ الله
“La ilaha illallahu Muhammadun RasulAllah”
“There is no deity but Allah, Prophet Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.”
And the door for its understanding is that, ‘I’m non-existent’ so that I’m not looking in between this lam alif and trying to appear. If I appear and I look at La ilaha illallah, then everything is about searching myself. That’s why when they read Qur’an, they think of everything about themselves, how Allah (AJ) is talking to them, how Allah (AJ) is guiding them. This is one level of understanding.
La Ilaha Illallah Reflects to Muhammadun RasulAllah ﷺ
This level of ma’rifah (gnosticism), it’s door is that you’re non-existent. That ‘Ya Rabbi, I’m an oppressor to myself and I’m non-existent. I don’t want to exist so I’m merely a spectator looking invisibly of this reality of La ilaha illallah. If I’m not there then the La ilaha illAllah is reflecting Muhammadun RasulAllah ﷺ. And if I’m not there and I look at Muhammadun RasulAllah ﷺ, it’s reflecting La ilaha illAllah.’
So, the problem is me. It’s the ‘me’ in the middle that I’m trying to get rid of. And that’s why then they teach us, ‘Clean, clean, clean. As much as you can clean to make yourself and rid yourself of yourself, of bad character, bad desires, what I want, and everything of what I want is not important.’ My character is to be good and I become clear and transparent, inshaAllah. And I begin to understand this mirror and its reflection, and all its realities.
Like Allah (AJ), Alif Has No Partner
And they begin to teach us that in every way of ma’rifah (gnosticism) is a higher level of knowing. When we say IsmAllah, “Allah”, don’t think that you know Allah (AJ) now because you’re saying a name. In this way of ma’rifah, anything you draw near to with your heart and trying to seek its understanding and seek its knowledges, as soon as you move towards this kalimah (testimony) alif, lam, lam, hey; we say hey because we know it’s not the ha of hayat (ever-living). It’s of hu.
So, when we’re moving towards this hey, they begin to teach that as soon as you move near this name IsmAllah, the alif is always separate; alif has no sharik (partner). It doesn’t attach itself to anything. So, as soon as you want to know about Allah (AJ), the alif moves and teaches you that you’re not going to know about me, not that easy.
Lam Represents Mulk and Malakut
What’s left is lam, lam, hey. Lam closest to the Allah (AJ) has to do with the tongue and the tongue is what speaks and brings that which is hidden to be known. That’s why Mawlana Shaykh (Q) would teach that the lam is a mulk (earthly realm), is a creation. It brings creation. How? Because what’s hidden from Allah’s (AJ) Will, as soon as it manifests on the tongue of realities, it appears.
So, this creation closest to the alif is the heavens, malakut (heavenly realm). The meem of malakut, the realities of malakut. Alif, lam, lam, that lam closest to the alif is the heavens. The lam closest to the hey is the mulk and the creation of all the world of form, what they call the mulk. The creation of mulk is everything that is visible. Malakut, that which you don’t see but “kulli shay.” It’s the power of everything.
﴾فَسُبْحَانَ الَّذِي بِيَدِهِ مَلَكُوتُ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ ﴿٨٣
36:83 – “Fasubhanal ladhee biyadihi Malakotu kulli shay in wa ilayhi turja’oon.” (Surat YaSeen)
“Therefore Glory be to Him in Whose hand is the [heavenly] dominion/kingdom of all things, and to Him you will be returned.” (YaSeen, 36:83)
Allah (AJ) Has No Need of the Mulk
Like the atomic reality for us to understand in our sciences. Oh, I’m here but you didn’t really see me. You just saw some guy with a beard and some clothes. But if you put me under a microscope, that’s my reality. That’s the reality that nobody feeds and nobody can deal and destroy that energy. That’s my energy reality. That’s malakut (heavenly realm), higher than that is then in the heavens that which you don’t understand and which we don’t comprehend.
The hey is the guide, is the hu. This means that Allah (AJ) doesn’t care for this creation of heavens and earth more than the wing of a mosquito, hadith (traditions of Prophet ﷺ) of Prophet ﷺ. Allah (AJ) doesn’t care for creation for it is the wing of a mosquito. Allah’s (AJ) not impressed by the heavens and He’s not in need of the mulk (earthly realm). It’s beyond anything that we can understand.
Awliyaullah Teach Us Not To Care For Dunya
So, then tariqah (spiritual path) comes to teach these two are like a nuqt (dot) because Allah (AJ) has no caring for it. So, they don’t care for dunya (material world) and they’re not hoping for a paradise reality like Disneyland, ‘I want to go to the most popular paradise. I want this and this paradise and I want rivers and streams and all of these things.’ Awliyaullah (saints) come and teach us, ‘Allah (AJ) doesn’t care for them so you don’t care for them.’ They have like a nuqt, two nuqts.
Muhammadun RasulAllah ﷺ is the King of Mulk and Malakut
So, this alif is Izzatullah (Allah’s (AJ) Might and Magnificence) but what Allah (AJ) does care for is that hey at the end. The hey at the end is the huwa, is the hadi (guide) and the guide of hidayat (guidance). To all these realities to go through the lam of dunya and mulk. Who is the king of this entire world of form? Muhammadun RasulAllah ﷺ, Sultan (King). Who is the king of all malakut? When Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ was teaching in hadith al-Jabir, ‘I’m the first thing Allah (AJ) created before Adam (as) was between clay and water. Jabir, I am the RasulAllah, eternal position of the soul of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ.’
قَالَ رَسُولَ اللَّه صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: “كُنْتُ نَبِيًّا وَآدَمُ بَيْنَ الْمَاءِ وَالطِّينِ
Qala Rasulullahi (saws) “Kuntu Nabiyan wa Adama baynal Maa e wat Teen.”
“I was a Prophet and Adam was between water and clay.” Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)
All Will Perish Except the Divinely Face of Allah (AJ)
So, the two lams Allah (AJ) doesn’t care for. We put two nuqt, two dots – the alif and the hey. So, the alif is sending all it’s tajallis (manifestations) to that hey. Allah (AJ) sending Izzat and Might to His Hadi (guide). So, then the Divinely Face that everything will perish, all these lams will perish except “WajhAllah”, the Divinely Face of Allah (AJ). Everything perishes but His Holy Face.
﴾كُلُّ شَيْءٍ هَالِكٌ إِلَّا وَجْهَهُ ۚ ﴿٨٨
28:88 – “…kullu shayin halikun illa wajha” (Surat Al-Qasas)
“…Everything (that exists) will perish except His holy Face…” (The Stories, 28:88)
So, when they understood that everything will perish, they don’t attach to dunya (material world). They’re not asking for a dunya reality. And when they found that Allah (AJ), everything will perish, the angels will perish, the heavens will perish, Baitul Mamur (the sacred house in heaven) – everything will perish except the Divinely Face. Then they ask, ‘Ya Rabbi, all we want is the Divinely Face. We want that which never perishes.’
The Throne is a Symbol of Authority and Power
And there are 7 essences that dress that alif, that is ‘Arsh ar-Rahman (the Throne of the Merciful). That is the reality of the Divinely Throne. That in dunya (material world), these 7 points, they’re like a chair. The Face and the chair have the same attribute. The chair is a position of authority because your chair has four legs and two arms and the seat is like a tongue, like a ‘L’, like a lam. So, the Face is the chair of the Divinely Presence. There’s no chair, but Allah (AJ) speaks in similitude, to give you an example because we don’t know from that reality.
So, describes that in your world of form, you know kings and the authority of a king is his throne. So, the kursi, the throne is a symbol of authority and power. And its real reality is the Holy Face. That Holy Face has 7 openings – has two ears, two eyes, two nostrils and one tongue. That Divinely Face that has no Face but are attributes and essences that dress the soul of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. That is Allah’s (AJ) Kursi. “Wasi’a Kursiyyhu.”
﴾وَسِعَ كُرْسِيُّهُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ ۖ … ﴿٢٥٥…
2:255 – “…Wasi’a Kursiyyuhus samaawaati wal arda…” (Surat Al-Baqarah)
“…His Throne extends over the heavens and the earth…” (The Cow, 2:255)
“Qul Hu” is Allah (AJ) Speaking to the Hu of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ
That is the Throne and the ‘Arsh (throne) of ar-Rahman (the Merciful). It’s the Divinely Face of Allah (AJ) that has no Face but are 7 holy attributes. They dress the world that has a Face which is the soul of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ.
And that’s the alif shooting its 7 attributes to the Hu of Allah (AJ) because the two lams, they’re nuqt. They’re insignificant. Allah (AJ) reflects from His Izzat and His Might, reflecting to the hu and hidayat and guidance, that these 7 attributes are dressing your hu. From the unknown Hu of Allah (AJ), it dresses the manifest known of the hu of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ and that’s what Allah (AJ) meant by “Qul hu.”
﴾قُلْ هُوَ اللَّـهُ أَحَدٌ ﴿١
112:1 – “Qul HuwAllahu Ahad.” (Surat Al-Ikhlas)
“Say, He is Allah, [who is] One.” (The Sincerity, 112:1)
This is not about me and you. This is about Allah’s (AJ) Ancient Speech; Allah (AJ) being the one speaking, hu being the one spoken to. There’s two in this sentence, “Qul hu.” Qul to who? The one speaking, Izzah and Might of Allah (AJ), Qul. The one spoken to, hu. Izzah of Allah (AJ) dresses that hu.
The Reality of Hu Contains Immense Energy
From that power and that reality, Allah (AJ), of these 7 essences of hu. The name “Allah” is an understanding of all the names and attributes. Above that reality is the reality of hu.
Beyond the understanding of names and attributes is a pure energy. And when they breathe and do the zikr (remembrance) of hu, they don’t mention any other name that brings their energy to a lower level. So, very high level of energy and reality. That hu is what’s dressing and blessing that reality giving it its might and its power.
Insan Can Only Reflect to the Reality of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ
These essences dressing the hu. Sami, Al-Basir. Alim, Al-Qadir. Nur, Al-Hay and Al-Muqtadir. These powers that dressing and essences, these are 7 divinely flames and essences that insan (human being) doesn’t reach to but they reflect to the reality of Sayyidina Muhammad’s ﷺ holy face. And that describes that reality, that neither sleep nor slumber overtakes Him.
﴾لَا تَأْخُذُهُ سِنَةٌ وَلَا نَوْمٌ… ﴿٢٥٥…
2:255 – “…Laa taakhuzuhoo sinatunw wa laa nawm…” (Surat Al-Baqarah)
“…No slumber can seize him nor sleep…” (The Cow, 2:255)
Who? Allah (AJ) describing the reality of the holy face and what Allah (AJ) dressed of Might and Majesty that this holy face and its power, its attributes and essences that’s been given by Allah (AJ).
Sayyidina YaSeen ﷺ Hears With Yaqeen
Sami, Al-Basir. It hears to the perfection of all creation and it’s called YaSeen ﷺ because it hears complete with yaqeen (certainty). As a result, there is no prophet. The one whom hears the most speaks for the Divine because the Sami is at 100% perfection. Lesser perfection never speaks, the greater perfection speaks. Sifat al-Sami of Sayyidina YaSeen ﷺ, the one whom has yaqeen of the seen. That he ﷺ speaks for all of creation. Not a prophet and not an angel can reach to this maqam (station) of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. All far below, not even anything comparable. Al-Basir, the one whom sees in complete perfection, his Lord at the station of “Qaba Qawsayni aw Adna.”
﴾فَكَانَ قَابَ قَوْسَيْنِ أَوْ أَدْنَىٰ ﴿٩
53:9 – “Fakana qaaba qawsayni aw adna.” (Surat An-Najm)
“And was at a distance of two bow lengths or nearer [to the Divine Presence].” (The Star, 53:9)
Nothing Comes Between La Ilaha Illallah and Muhammadun RasulAllah ﷺ
Not from far but Allah (AJ) give a ihtiram (respect) and a respect that he’s two bow-lengths or nearer. Nobody goes in the place of “Aw adna.” Why Allah (AJ) put this ihtiram throughout Qur’an? Allah (AJ) put these immense, like a contract. When you read a contract and you find a clause that sort of locks the whole contract. That he’s at two bow lengths; if He didn’t put “Aw adna” you would say, ‘Well, then there’s an angel in between them. So, he’s not really that one.’ And Allah (AJ) say, ‘No, you’re incorrect, aw adna or closer.’ There is nothing that can come between the reality of La ilaha illallah to Muhammadun RasulAllah ﷺ. Nothing!
Only Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ Reaches “Qaba Qawsayni aw Adna”
There is no intercessor, there’s no station. Anything outside of that become burnt and non-existent. That’s why Sayyidina Jibreel (as) said, ‘I can’t go to the maqam that you’re going to. This audience that Allah (AJ) has called your physicality is only for you because this is your reality. If I go to that with you, I become non-existent. I cannot enter beyond the ocean of Muhammadun RasulAllah ﷺ to look at the reality of La ilaha illAllah.’ Sayyidina Jibreel (as) becomes non-existent at that point. As-Sami, Al-Basir means then nobody sees from “Qaba Qawsayni aw adna” (Qur’an, 53:9) except Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ.
That’s why we don’t have wahdat al-wajud (oneness in existence). We have wahdat al-shahood (oneness in appearance). That you are allowed to enter with your soul into the soul and reality of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. And from this qalb (heart), and its reality, it sees in ayat al-kareem (verse), ayatul Kursi is describing what He sees.
Every Atom in Existence is Created From Muhammadun RasulAllah ﷺ
That what he sees, he sees in perfection and nobody sees like that. If he’s seeing Allah (AJ) through Izzat and Might of Allah (AJ), every creation is from his light. And that’s why science understood that when you split the atom, the atom knows everything about every atom. But in this secret, Allah (AJ) says, ‘The main atom knows every atom but those atoms encompass nothing of His knowledge’.
So, scientifically they could understand. But Allah (AJ) gave them also another clue. The originating atom “Man zal lazee yashfa’u”, that nobody can intercede except and nobody has the knowledge of what he encompasses.
﴾مَن ذَا الَّذِي يَشْفَعُ عِندَهُ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِهِ ۚ …﴿٢٥٥…
2:255 – “…Man zal lazee yashfa’u indahooo illaa bi-iznih…” (Surat Al-Baqarah)
“…Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission?…” (The Cow, 2:255)
Nobody encompasses the knowledge of what he encompasses, that through his sight because of what he sees through Allah (AJ), Allah’s (AJ) Izzat and Might is giving all the power of everything coming from His light. It’s all created from Muhammadun RasulAllah ﷺ.
Everything is From Prophet ﷺ and He Sees Through It All
Every particle in existence is in the light of Prophet ﷺ. It’s not something our physicality can understand but it’s because it is him, he sees through it all. And everything is from Him and He’s in everything. ”Minni wa Minhum.” ‘It’s all from me and I see through it all.’
He sees through the atoms of your wall. He sees through the atom of your cup. He sees through the atom of every air and particle and breath. He sees everything. It’s from him. How could something from somebody, and science knows it, and you not be understanding of it? And this is what Allah (AJ) meant. That he doesn’t sleep. He doesn’t pass out. These are the realities of the soul. And He’s ever vigilant over everything that his light has been, everything made from his holy light. All made in truth.
All made from that reality and He’s ever vigilant over it because it’s all from Muhammadun RasulAllah ﷺ. And none encompass from it it’s knowledge except what He allows. None can intercede for it without His permission. It’s His light. How can you intercede or claim to have an intercession if Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ is not permitting you?
7007 Naqshbandi Awliya Are Dressed From Wajhi hil Karim
It means all of these realities they’re teaching in just the simple alif lam lam hey, Izzatullah is shining 7 attributes, 7 essences onto the hey and the hu of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, the hadi (guide) and hidayat. Naqshbandiya, out of 124,000 awliyaullah, they have 7007 awliya that are always under the authority of Mawlana Shah Naqshband (Q). And that they’re always present on earth and they don’t even have to know each other or know themselves and some are from jinn (unseen beings) and ins (human beings), not all human. Many from the jinn mureeds.
And 7007 because they’re dressed from the realities of these seven. They’re dressed from Wajhi hil Karim, the holy face of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ dressing to their Face. Because at 1001, one of Allah (AJ), two nuqt for the two creations mean nothing, reflects to the oneness of His Hadi. This is the highest one. That reality reflects to the 7007 because they’re no longer 1, they’re 7. They carry the power of the 7 attributes of Prophet’s ﷺ holy face and those 7 attributes are being dressed upon their hidayat and their guidance. And their 7 holy openings are dressed by the openings of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ.
Write Muhammadan Haqaiqs to Burn Them Into Your Heart
This means we pray in these holy months that Allah (AJ) give us a dress, give us an understanding to reach towards these realities. These realities have to be written and not recorded. We already record everything. You have to write with your hand and your finger. Not recorded, it doesn’t do anything for you. We spent 25 years in this path; those whom recorded, they gained absolutely nothing from its understanding.
Those who wrote, they became custodians of the reality because what they write, it will be burned into their heart as the holy scribes of the Muhammadan haqaiqs (realities). What they write will be burned into their heart and written upon their kitab (book), not written upon Apple. You’re not trying to glorify your iPhone. But if you don’t have an ihtiram (respect) and don’t care for the reality, you’re not a scribe.
When You Write These Realities, It Will Be Written in Your Kitab
You can think you understand it all. It doesn’t make a difference for them. But this way is to understand that these haqaiqs and reality of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ are never to drop the floor. These are realities that are unimaginable in the power to the soul. What they take from it, they grab.
As soon as they write it, it’ll be written into their kitab (book). So, that the angels that actually had to write what they wrote, their stations change because an angel who only writes your bad deeds, that’s a small level angel. But the angel that’s writing all the haqaiqs of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, the angels know its weight. “Alam bil Qalam.” The angel knows what type of weight those realities have and that’s what Allah (AJ), “Alam bil Qalam,” that ‘I taught them by the reality of that pen.’ The angel is changing, the angel is becoming dressed by its realities.
﴾اقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ الْأَكْرَمُ ﴿٣﴾ الَّذِي عَلَّمَ بِالْقَلَمِ ﴿٤﴾ عَلَّمَ الْإِنسَانَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ ﴿٥
96:3-5 – “Iqra, wa rabbukal akram (3). Alladhee ‘allama bil Qalam (4). ‘Allamal insana ma lam ya’lam. (5)” (Surat Al-Alaq)
“Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous. (3) Who taught by the pen. (4) Taught man that which he knew not. (5)” (The Clot, 96:3-5)
The soul is being dressed by its realities. As a result, it’s a paradise soul walking on this earth. As a result, all their food, all their sustenance, all their rizq, everything is under heavenly command, not dunya. This one whom from paradise and the sultanates (kingdoms) of paradise is walking the earth. And every food and drink and sustenance and reality is flowing to them through the sultanate (kingdom) of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ.
Have Ihtiram For Anything From the King
So, tashreef (honour) and ihtiram that they would show us in all their movies that if the seal of the king – remember we taught this 10 years ago – if the seal of the king would enter into a city, they would all be bowed down because this seal of the kingdom was walking and moving into the area. They would show respect and these movies used to teach people how to respect. Why? Because they respected the king. You didn’t need the presence of the king. You needed to just have an ihtiram, just for anything from the king.
Anything from the kingdom, they were incomplete. Just the seal of the kingdom would move through the city and everybody was in complete obedience. Imagine if the King comes. So, it means then these teachings are to prepare us for that reality. If a reality is coming from the kingdom of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ and it came and went through your ear with absolutely no benefit, then pity upon you for you did nothing with it.
Recording Knowledges is Not the Same As Writing Them
And we have friends that were doing 25 years of Shaykh Nazim’s (Q) suhbats (discourses) on cassette recorders. Where is that now? Did you ever think cassette recorders were going to finish? Cassettes and cassettes and cassettes, cassettes and cassettes and I said, ‘If we want to remember one thing, how are we going to find it in all these 50 cassettes you have?’ Because they were coming and trying to teach us tariqah (spiritual path) at the beginning. ‘Oh! I have all these cassettes from London, Shaykh Nazim (Q) talked on this….’ You can spend hours trying to find which talk on this cassette was what he did.
But no, we were trained differently: have a book, write. Because you know in each book this was this year, this was Ramadan, this was this and this was that reality. I can pull my book, flip through it and say, ‘This is what Mawlana Shaykh (Q) was teaching.’ And because I wrote it, Allah (AJ) burned it into the heart. And if I heard it on my iPhone that has nothing to do, Allah didn’t say, ‘Alam bil iPhone’ into your ear. We pray Allah (AJ) give us more and more opening and understanding.
Especially these subjects, nobody’s going to remember this: alif, lam, and lam and say, ‘What was the hey? What was the hu? What’s the lam? Who’s the lam? Where’s the lam?’ And every lam has a lam, alif, meem. How many times we said that, but did you contemplate? Astonishing! Every tongue, it opens because lam opens. Lam, alif, meem. Again, you see Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ there. You see the lisan (tongue) of realities and Allah (AJ) and His Muhammad ﷺ. And infinite, infinite, infinite. It means for every creation, the reality of La ilaha illallah, Muhammadun RasulAllah must be there. That is the formula bringing creation into existence. La ilaha illallah sends the Izzat (Allah’s (AJ) Might and Magnificence) and a Might and hit and becomes a creation.
Subhana rabbika rabbal ‘izzati ‘amma yasifoon, wa salaamun ‘alal mursaleen, walhamdulillahi rabbil ‘aalameen. Bi hurmati Muhammad al-Mustafa wa bi siri Surat al-Fatiha.
