Whom Allah has Taught Allama, Angels Bowed Down to.
Whom Allah has Taught, Angels Bow Down to
From the Realities of Mawlana Shaykh Hisham as Taught by Shaykh As Sayed Nurjan Mirahmadi
A’udhu Billahi Minash Shaitanir Rajeem
Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem
If not by Your Grace and Allah (Azza wa Jal)’s infinite Rahma (mercy) we are a hopeless Creation but for Allah (Azza wa Jal)’s Love. And Allah (Azza wa Jal)’s Love for His prophets and Allah (Azza wa Jal)’s Love for those who follow the way of the prophets and try their best with their love to follow that way, Allah (Azza wa Jal) is Ghafoor ar Raheem and Allah (Azza wa Jal)’s Rahma outdoes His Wrath.
Highest goal in life is to seek Divinely knowledge
A reminder for myself that the highest goal in life is to seek knowledge, Divinely Knowledges, that dresses the soul and blesses the soul. And that the knowledges we seek in life is a medallion of honour within the Divinely Presence. When we’re beginning and empty, Allah (Azza wa Jal) guides us to our guides, our beloved guides, Sultan ul Awliya Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Nazim al Haqqani and our beloved guide Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani (qadassallahu sirruhu), may Allah (Azza wa Jal) sanctify their secrets, raise their darajats (stations) infinitely higher and higher. We come hungry like yateem (orphan) and miskeen (poor) and we come into the presence of Awliyaullah and they feed us from their soul. They feed us from their soul and their ni’mat that Allah (Azza wa Jal) dressed on them.
“And they feed, for the love of Allah, the needy/indigent, the orphan, and the captive. (8) (Saying),”We feed you for the sake of the Holy/divine Face alone: We wish not from you reward or gratitude.” (Holy Quran, the Human 76:8-9)
They feed you from what they love not from what they did not want and all they ask in return is wajhi Allah, the Divinely Face of Allah (Azza wa Jal), and Allah (Azza wa Jal) has no face, that face must be the face and ruhaniyaat of Sayyidna Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), Noor Muhammadi. They feed but we have to come to that table as an orphan, we have to come to that table miskeen, and poor, Means come with nothing and ask to be nothing. And seeking knowledges is the greatest Divinely Gift upon the soul and sets the darajat (station) of that sloul and its rank in Divinely Presence.
Allah (aj) Taught Adam (as) Knowledge
It is so important for Allah (Azza wa Jal). That Allah (Azza wa Jal) is laa sharik and has no partner. And Allah (Azza wa Jal) describes that: knowledge is so important that when I conveyed the knowledge to Sayyidina Adam (alayhis salaam) wa `allama adama asmaa’ kullaha (Holy Quran 2:31)
وَعَلَّمَ آدَمَ الْأَسْمَاءَ كُلَّهَا…٣١
2:31 – Wa ‘allama Adamal Asma a kullaha,… “ (Surat al Baqara)
“And He taught Adam the names of all things …” (The Cow, 2:31)
In just that understanding, the turuq (spiritual paths) come and (teach) that the knowledge you read and seek out, is to give you the confines, your ‘do’s and don’ts’ in life. You read the books to be right so that you don’t talk from left and right and take yourself outside of Islam, outside of religion. It sets the perimeters of your right and your left, your forward and your back. That is not what Allah (Azza wa Jal) is talking about.
‘Allama عَلَّمَ is that “We taught him the knowledges.” That the books you read and the knowledges you achieved should set your character. If not setting your character, you’re going to have a problem.
In this importance of knowledge Allah (Azza wa Jal) wanted to show the Malaaikah and the jinn. That the superiority of the angels and their complete tasleem (submission) and that they are the custodians of knowledge. They are the custodians of Allah (Azza wa Jal)’s Amr and Divinely Commands. And they submit wholly to whatever Allah (Azza wa Jal) wants, so their darajat (rank) must be very high. In the company of the jinn, which Allah (Azza wa Jal) gave them tremendous power-we know the weakness of our Creation-and the tremendous nature of what Allah (Azza wa Jal) has given to the jinn race of their power. So now there is a big audience, these are the jinns and all the might that Allah (azza wa Jal) gave to them of Qudra and power and their ability to manifest and to move. And the Malayikah and all that Allah (Azza wa Jal) gave to that Creation.
And then Allah (Azza wa Jal) places Sayyidina Adam to teach that: at any moment I can bestow upon a servant knowledge that will bewilder you.
2:31-32 – “Wa ‘allama Adamal Asma a kullaha, thumma ‘aradahum ‘alal Malaikati faqala anbioonee bi asma i haola e in kuntum sadiqeen.(31) Qalo subhanaka la ‘ilma lana illa ma ‘allamtana, innaka antal ‘Aleemul Hakeem.(32)” (Surah al Baqarah)
“And He taught Adam the names – all of them. Then He showed them to the angels and said, “Inform Me of the names of these, if you are truthful. (31) They said, “Exalted are You; we have no knowledge except what You have taught us. Indeed, it is You who is the Knowing, the Wise.” (Holy Quran, 2:31-32)
Angels Made Prostration to Adam (as)’s Divinely Knowledge
And He began: teach them what I taught you; begin to convey what I taught you, the bayan I taught you the speech, begin to give the speech to them.
2:33 – “Qala ya Adamu anbi hum bi asmayihim, falamma anbahum bi asmayihim qala alam aqul lakum inni a’lamu ghaybas samawati wal ardi wa a’lamu ma tubdoona wa ma kuntum taktumoon.” (Surah al Baqarah)
He said: “O Adam! Tell them their names.” When he had told them, Allah said: “Did I not tell you that I know the secrets of heaven and earth, and I know what you reveal and what you conceal?” (Holy Quran)
As soon as Sayyidina Adam (alayhis salaam) was teaching, the angels immediately understood with no ego, that the knowledge that this Creation has is far superior to our knowledge. Then, as a result Allah (Azza wa Jal) gave them the command, “Bow down,”
Means this ihtiraam (respect) is so important for Allah (Azza wa Jal) it becomes the key of our life. That because of what Allah (Azza wa Jal) bestowed upon the reality of Sayyidina Adam (alayhis salaam), Allah (Azza wa Jal) ordered “bow down” to that knowledge. All of them bowed down but Iblees.
2:34 – ” Wa idh qulna lil malayikati osjudo li Adama fasajado illa ibleesa aba wastakbara wa kana minal kafireen.” (Surah al Baqarah)
“And [mention] when We said to the angels, “Bow Down/make Prostration to Adam“; so they prostrated, except for Iblis. He refused and was arrogant and became of the disbelievers/who reject faith.” (Holy Quran)
The angels recognized and they represent humility, they made the sujood of ihtiraam respect. So if angels made sujood for Sayyidina Adam (alayhis salaam) then imagine the ihtiraam for Sayyidina Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam)? That it is the knowledge of Prophet (sallalahu alayhi wa sallam) that was put into Sayyidina Adam (alayhis salaam), it was Noor Muhammadi that made Sayyidina Adam to come to life from Bahrul Hayat.
Humans Created from Dirt and Carry both Water and Fire
Allah (Azza wa Jal) wanted to slowly begin to reveal that: don’t think that your Creation is superior, I am going to begin to give you a marifa`ah that all your realities and all your lights come from Noor Muhammadi (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam). This mizan (scale) that I have created out of dirt, that can carry your water which are the angels-the dirt with water, flowers grow (from it)-. That can carry fire of the jinn nation within them because tayammum can put you out or you can put fire on top of dirt and it doesn’t burn. This mizan, this scale that I have created named ‘Sayyidina Adam’, he is going to carry both. And you will be astonished at the light and the reality which he carries, and the angels made sujood to that knowledge.
Satan acquired his own knowledge by reading not Taught by Allah
All save Iblees, why? Because he thought his knowledge was more superior. His knowledge that he conveyed was through his own sources. His knowledge that he conveyed was through his own acquisition. He read, he studied and he began to teach, and he read and he studied and he taught, and he taught and he taught. He was the teacher of the angels. So he was extremely humiliated that here comes a much more powerful teacher and he is teaching from what Allah (Azza wa Jal) taught, `allama. `Azazil (later known as Iblees), what he gained of knowledge he taught the angels. Allah (Azza wa Jal) didn’t convey that knowledge to him. Means through his own `amal and the knowledge that he acquired, he began to teach the angels to raise his darajat.
Allah let him go along, let’s go along with you and I will show you where this is going to go because your knowledge and the knowledge that you think you have, you acquired through books. But that wasn’t the knowledge that Allah (Azza wa Jal) taught because the books that you read, and the poetry that you have memorized, and all the things that you have done, it gives your left and right, your front and back but not yet what Allah (Azza wa Jal) gave, `allama, “that I taught you.”
Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) came to describe that station is (achieved) only through itibah, (obedience), only through discipline and training, and only through crushing. That when you follow and they crush you, and you follow, and they crush you, then the rank of sami’na wa ata’na.
2:285 – “…Sam’ina wa ata’na, ghufranaka Rabbana wa ilaykal masir.” (Surat al Baqarah)
“…We hear, and we obey: (We seek) Thy forgiveness, our Lord, and to Thee is the end of all journeys.” (Holy Quran, 2:285)
Awliya Inherit from Ahlul Bayt and Ashab Nabi [as]
That Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam)’s Companions are the example from whom we inherit, from their station; they send their shadow upon us. Means you inherit from Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), from the Ahl al Bayt (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), Ashaab an Nabi (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) and all the `ulama that inherited and they cast the shadow of that reality upon us. That we are following in the way of Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam). That we gained that rank through our itibah and our obedience. With our obedience we were crushed and Allah (Azza wa Jal) describes them and their companionship of these saintly souls, that Allah (Azza wa Jal) `allamal Qur’an. khalaqal insaan. They have attained a Rahma and then We gave them knowledges.
55:2-3 – ‘Allamal Qur’an. Khalaqal Insaan. (Surat Ar Rahman)
“It is He Who has taught the Qur’an. He has created Man.” (The Beneficent 55: 2-3)
18:65 – “Fawajada ‘abdan min ‘ibadinaa ataynahu rahmatan min ‘indina wa ‘allamnahu mil ladunna ‘ilma” (Surat al Kahf)
“And they found a servant from among Our servants to whom we had given mercy from us and had taught him from Us a [certain] knowledge.” (Quran, The Cave 18:65)
Sayyidina Khidr (alayhis salaam) was the example of that. He attained a Rahma and then Allah gave him knowledges whereas Shaytan, he had his knowledges and found his knowledge to be superior so he didn’t bow down to Sayyidina Adam. He was now in a direct conflict with the knowledge that Allah (Azza wa Jal) was bestowing upon this servant. Just as they come against pious people, as they come against `ulama, (religious scholars) as they come against all the Awliya (saints).
Who Can Speak?
They are describing, because who can speak? The one who speaks is the one inheriting from Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) – samina, Ya Seen, yaqeen us Sami’. They have the yaqeen of Siffat al Sami` (One of Allah’s attributes), that their ears are hearing. They inherited that hadith that: you came to Me through voluntary worship, not through your fard. Your fard was already obligatory for you.
“…, wa la yazaalu ‘Abdi yataqarrabu ilayya bin nawafile hatta ahebahu, fa idha ahbabtuhu kunta Sam’ahul ladhi yasma’u behi, wa Basarahul ladhi yubsiru behi, wa Yadahul lati yabTeshu beha, wa Rejlahul lati yamshi beha, wa la in sa alani la a’Teyannahu, …”
“…My servant continues to draw near to Me with voluntary acts of worship so that I shall love him. When I love him, I am his hearing with which he hears, his seeing with which he sees, his hand with which he strikes and his foot with which he walks. Were he to ask [something] of Me, I would surely give it to him…” Hadith Qudsi (Sahih al-Bukhari, 81:38:2)
Through your voluntary worship I became your hearing. If Allah (Azza wa Jal) is granting that hearing means then you begin to hear what Allah (Azza wa Jal) wants you to hear. That servant is now entering into the oceans of submission through the itibah and following of the shuyokh.
Don’t talk in front of guide, even if you are Nabi Musa (as)
It begins to teach, Allah (Azza wa Jal) gave the example of Sayyidina Khidr (alayhis salaam) with Sayyidina Musa (alayhis salaam). Even if you are kaleemullah (The one who speak with Allah), when you come to this reality and you want this reality, follow that servant and don’t talk. Don’t show any knowledge, don’t show yourself, be nothing. From what you think you know from books and what you read, it’s like a candle in comparison to the Sun.
What is already on paper is stale. What is written on paper is already old. What they are seeking are the knowledges and realities that are emanating like the rays of a sun from the heart of Sayyidina Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam). At every moment Allah (Azza wa Jal) says: I am in a new tajalli, every moment I am in a new splendour and a new dress. That dress dresses Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) and from Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) goes out to all Creation.
53:2-5 “Ma dalla Sahibukum wa ma ghawa (2) Wa ma yantiqu ‘anil hawa (3) In huwa illa wahyun yoha (4) ‘Allamahu shadeedul quwa. (5) (Surat an Najm)
“Your owner/companion [Muhammad] has not strayed, nor has he erred/misled. (2) Nor does he speak from [his own] desire. (3) It is not but a revelation sent/revealed to him. (4) He was taught by one Mighty in Power. (5) (Holy Quran, The Star)
Prophet Yaqub (as)’s Station and Yusuf (as)’s Dream

They begin to teach the characteristics what they want, like for Sayyidina Yusuf (alayhis salaam). That how superior that knowledge is that Allah (Azza wa Jal) gave another example. That a standing Prophet of Allah (Azza wa Jal), Sayyidina Yaqub (alayhis salaam), who had eleven sons, all prophets, and twelve with Sayyidina Yusuf (alayhis salaam). He bears eleven prophets of Allah (Azza wa Jal). To understand the darajat (station) because Nabi Musa to submit, all the angels submitted and made sajda ihtiraam. Allah (Azza wa Jal) describes in His most favourite surah, Surat Yusuf (as), and its deep meanings of reality.
12:3 – “Nahnu naqussu ‘alayka ahsanal qasasi bima awhayna ilayka hadhal Qurana…” (Surah Yusuf)
“We do relate you the most beautiful of stories, in what We have revealed to you of this (portion of the) Qur’an…” (Holy Quran, Joseph)
That Yusuf (as) comes to his father and says, “Yaa Baba I had a dream that the Sun and the Moon and all the stars made sujood to me.”
12:4 -“Idh qala Yosufu li abeehi ya abati innee raaytu ahada Ashara kawkaban wash Shamsa wal Qamara raaytuhum le sajideen.” (Surat Yusuf)
“When Joseph said to his father, “O my father, indeed I have seen [in a dream] eleven stars and the sun and the moon; I saw them prostrating to me.” (Holy Quran, Joseph)
Then the people who don’t want to make the mehfil, they don’t want to make Zikrullah and don’t want to do any type of worshipness, Allah (Azza wa Jal) is teaching, those who have a heart, that sujood; they are making prostration. He said, “all this universe is making prostration to me Baba.” Because his reality is going to come out, not yet, not now.
What you are seeing is what Allah (Azza wa Jal) wants us to know from Holy Qur’an because it is Allah (Azza wa Jal)’s Ancient Words. Allah does not make a shirk in His Words. He is teaching: no, no worshipness they are all clear on who they worship. But I want you to understand the maqams (stations) and these darajats (levels), they require a tremendous ihtiraam (respect), and a tremendous tashreef, beyond what you can imagine you can do for kings, you do for My Kings, whom I bestowed in the Heavens, whom sit upon an ‘arsh. They sit upon chairs and thrones in Divinely Presence.
37:40, 43-44 – “Illa ‘ibadAllahil Mukhlaseen. (40) Fee jannati annaAAeem. (43) ‘Ala sururin mutaqabileen. (44) (Surah As Saffat)
‘But (Except) the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah,(40) In Gardens of Felicity/Pleasure (43) Facing each other on Thrones (of Dignity) (44) (Quran, Those who Set the Ranks 37:40-44)
What does Sun, Moon, Stars Represent in Yusuf (as)’s dream
He (Yusuf) said, “Baba I saw the sun,” which is the source of all guidance. “I saw the moon,” Maqaam al Fardani, the one who is perfect in submission. “I saw all the stars,” the counsel of all Awliyaullah, “all made sujood to me”. His Baba said, “Don’t talk about that maqaam. These brothers are not going to like it, you are already having a problem, you are already shining from beauty.” What beauty? He was carrying Noor Muhammadi (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam). It was radiating very powerfully on his being and they had never seen a beauty and a light like that, and the hasad that it was creating…
Why was Yusuf (as) Thrown to the Well?
All through his testing, it gives us an example, you want that light? You want that knowledge? It is not from reading. What you read, Allah wants to negate. That is why He sent Sayyidina Yusuf into the chal (well). He said what your father is conveying to you is already old, what I want for you is a different reality. And He inspired the brothers to take him and throw him into a well and in the well he hurt his legs when he fell.
12:10 – “Qala qayilun minhum la taqtulo Yosufa wa alqohu fee ghayabati aljubbi yaltaqit hu ba’du assayyarati in kuntum fa’ileen.” (Surah Yusuf)
“Said one of them: “Do not kill Joseph but if you must do something, throw him into the bottom of the well; some caravan of travelers will pick him up – if you would do [something].” (Holy Quran)
Divinely Knowledge comes from the Heart, Not the books
It means this path is going to be very difficult, it is not by what you achieve when you pick up a book. The book gives you guidance, don’t go off the page, don’t go crazy keep within the Shari’ah. What Allah (Azza wa Jal) is describing that Sayyidina Yusuf was thrown into a hole, means now his will has been taken away from him, separated from the books, means the knowledge of his father and eleven prophets. What Allah wanted to convey to him is something completely different.
This is the month of the khalwah and the concept of isolation, to isolate ourselves, isolate from everything we are reading. This is not coming from reading. This is coming from the heart that through that isolation he was thrown into a well and then he was bought and taken by traders who took him as a slave.
Means Allah (Azza wa Jal) now describes: you are not going to come to Me with the rank from your father. You are not going to tell me that your father is a prophet and you have eleven brothers who are prophets and therefore you are inheriting this. No, no, I am going to throw you into a hole because many people say, “O my father is like this, my uncle is like this, my whole family were in Tariqa.” Good for you. Allah is still going to throw you into a hole. Because there is going to be testing and difficulty. Only through testing and difficulty Allah (Azza wa Jal) says in Holy Qur’an, do you want to inherit? Then I am going to teach you, I am going to test you like those who came before you. There is no cheating.
29:2-3 – “Ahasiba annasu an yutrako an yaqoolo amanna wa hum la yuftanon.”(2) Wa laqad fatanna al ladheena min qablihim….” (Surat al Ankabot)
“Do the people think that they will be left to say, “We believe” and they will not be tried? (2) “But We have certainly tried those before them,…. and Allah will surely make evident those who are truthful, and He will surely make evident the liars.” (The Spider 29:2-3)
The Shaykh and their Guidance Takes you out of Well
Who came (to rescue him) took him as a slave, they grabbed him and said, “This is going to be a good one,” they could see the light on him, “maybe we will get a barakah from this guy,” and they took Sayyidina Yusuf. It means the guide is going to come and take you. There has to be a murshid. There has to be a guide. There has to be a guide to come and take you out.
He took you out, now you are asir (captive), you no longer have your will, and you are not talking. That is why then the turuq come and bring the adab (manner) that: don’t ever talk in the presence of your shaykh. You are but a candle in the presence of a sun and that sun is a candle in the presence of his sun, and that sun is a candle in the presence of his sun.
There has to be an adab, an etiquette, that turn yourself ‘off’ in the binary code so that the shaykh can be ‘on’. If you’re going to be on, the shaykh will then turn off and there is no more conveyance of realities. Someone has to be on. The binary code is teaching us: you be off and they will be on and they will convey. And through all of the testing is the teaching of the binary. How to be crushed and be off so that in Divinely Presence we have that reality, in the prophetic presence we have that reality, and in the presence of ulul amr we have that reality.
First Khalwah (Seclusion) – Yusuf (as) thrown in Well
Sayyidina Yusuf (alayhis salaam) was taught that you are now a slave, they are going to buy you and sell you. And a king, Malik al ‘Aziz because Siffat al-’Aziz that nothing escapes ‘Aziz. Allah’s ‘Aziz (one of Allah’s attributes), al ’Aziz (The Almighty), that nothing can escape Allah’s Will. It is not a coincidence that Allah (Azza wa Jal) is giving to the kingdom that this malik, this king… because every message has to be eternal for us. It can’t be one time, “O this is a beautiful story of Sayyidina Yusuf (alayhis salaam).”
No it is a story for you. It is your life, they will take you and separate you from everything you thought was important, be it your father, your mother, your spouse, your loved ones. [Shaykh refers to someone in the audience] How many years you sat in the living room while your wife went to work? And everybody came against you saying, “What are you doing sitting with that guy (Shaykh) all the time?”
This way is a way of companionship, this is a way of testing. Don’t look at the shaykh now that he is just sitting on a couch. But what was his life? What was the level of his testing? Constant testing, constant humiliation, constant difficulty, constant giving away of everything, constantly to be scrubbed and scrubbed and scrubbed until every day you think you are going to run away. Why? because like a slave. Sayyidina Yusuf (alayhis salaam) was bought. We are only hearing in the Qur’an the short version, there was a life time. These people when they are bought, it wasn’t something easy. There was scrubbing and cleaning. They were doing very demeaning work inside the palace. And this is from somebody born as a Nabi (Prophet) (alayhis-salaam).
Dunya (material world) will tempt you
So it means a life of testing. Until that king is testing and testing and the wife comes. The wife represents dunya and anything from dunya looks at him and they want to give themselves completely to him. Means that dunya is going to tempt you because the beauty and the tajalli and the lights you’re carrying, the dunya wants to serve you and wants to bow down to your feet and say, “What is it from us, we are going to give you everything!”
It means every lady that came into the presence–that is why Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) described when you start to dream of ladies, it is the dunya within you. Until that lady turns into something very old, very wicked, and very wretched, then you know your heart has lost the love of dunya. If you keep dreaming of beautiful women, means dunya is very strong in your heart. Because it comes to you as a woman as to allure you, “Come, come my darling, my handsome bearded man.” [everyone laughs] Until it becomes smelly, wretched and old that you look at it, yaa Latif and you’re running, running in your dream that you can’t get away and it is trying to kiss you. Then you know dunya is out of your heart.
Then what Sayyidina Yusuf was realizing was that whatever I do, I can’t stop this dunya it is coming after me. The first chal (well) Allah threw, the second is when Sayyidina Yusuf realized. This is the month of khalwah, Sayyidina Yusuf realized it when they came and the woman was running after him. They said, “Let’s do a test.” This is all a very short version (of the story) to fit under twenty minutes. They said, “let’s do a test, the wife of a king was running after you? They said, “no, no, Let’s see where she was grabbing. If she grabbed the front (of his shirt) means he was coming after her. If he was trying to escape and she scratched his back means dunya was coming after him.” They realized no, the dunya was coming after him because the back of his shirt was torn. At that time Sayyidina Yusuf (alayhis salaam) said, “Yaa Rabbi, I think prison is better for me than what this dunya has.”
These are the tareeq, the way of marifa`ah. He was saying, “Yaa Rabbi, I am unable to control the barakah You are giving to me.” That is why people steal every type of barakah (blessing), you go three times into an association of Zikr and everything that opens should be opened for Tariqa and everybody goes mad and goes in different directions. “MashaAllah all these things are opening shaykh. Bye, bye shaykh see you later.” They take all the openings and start running in different directions.
Second Khalwah (Seclusion) – Yusuf (as) asked for Prison
Sayyidina Yusuf (alayhis salaam) is teaching, “Yaa Rabbi, I am realizing wherever I run they are coming after me. There is no escaping. I am not ready. Now let me go into prison.” At that time he asked, “Yaa Rabbi grant me permission to go to khalwah.” For seven years he stayed in prison through hard labour and difficulty, and after that time he came out.
Means after that khalwah of seven years he came out and the king says, “Now you are ready.” Malik al ’Aziz, Siffat al ’Aziz. What did Siffat al’Aziz give him? You will be king over rizq (sustenance). So Siffat al ’Aziz (The Almighty), yaa ‘Aziz, yaa Razaq; your rizq (sustenance) is directly connected to Siffat al ’Aziz. That is why we have the Zikr downstairs [Naqshbandi Center of Vancouver]; Zikr downstairs; “Ya Mawlana Shah Bahauddin Naqshband Muhammad Uwaysi al Bukhari, Yaa ‘Azizu yaa Razaq, Yaa ‘Azizu yaa Razaq”
بحق مولانا شاه بها الدين نقشبند محمد الاويسي البخاري، يا عزيز و يا رزاق، يا عزيز و يا رزاق
“Ba Haqqi Mawlana Shah Bahauddin Naqshband Muhammad Uwaysi al Bukhari, Yaa ‘Azizu yaa Razaq, Yaa ‘Azizu yaa Razaq”
It is one of the secrets Mawlana Shah Naqshband is carrying from these Siffats (attributes). That if Allah (Azza wa jal) begins to pick you and train you He is teaching, I am going to dress you under that Siffat, that malik and sultanate of that Name will dress your soul, and all rizq will be under your control because nothing escapes My Siffat al ’Aziz (The Almighty).” You merely begin to request in your heart that this is what you need and Allah (Azza wa Jal) will make it to facilitate and move in your direction.
Testing builds Character, leads to Rahmah – Then Divinely Knowledge
But, without that practise, without that training of khalwah, without the crushing of Tariqa; it is not just you read, or you think, “I know better Arabic than you, let me start talking.” It is not that ‘uloom (knowledges) that is built on ego and all the bad characteristics. But what Allah (Azza wa Jal) is teaching: no, once I begin to crush you, take a path of crushing and crushing, We begin to see the perfection of your character. If We see the perfection of the character I am going to make you inherit, because you are going to attain a Rahma.
What is the Rahma? It is the presence of Sayyidina Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) and begins to dress that soul, begins to dress that light. With that creation, with that light upon your light, then We are going to give you `ilm laduni wa hikmati bis saliheen (Heavenly Knowledge and Wisdom of the Pious ones].
Divine bestow a balanced Knowledge with Wisdom
That knowledge has to be a two wing knowledge. When Allah wants to bestow knowledge, it has to be a balanced knowledge with hikmah (wisdom). The hikmah (wisdom) is that you are going to give a dose of medicine. The hikmah and wisdom is how to dose it. Don’t say things to people that they are not ready for. That is why when you hear the words of the Shaykh you have no permission to convey it to anybody else. Because you talk to somebody who is completely not yet ready for that, and you make them sick, you make them angry, and you make them confused. That is why the guides are guides because they understand the level in which to give the hikmah; that is the wisdom on what to talk. And what talk is necessary for their souls only, and those whom Allah (Azza wa Jal) is inspiring to log on and to watch online.
That knowledge and that reality is what we are seeking. Where Allah (Azza wa Jal), if He takes you out of that prison and puts you into khalwah, puts you into khalwah, takes you out of that khalwah and then begins to dress you from the light of Sayyidina Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) based on good character. That character understands completely to be off, to be off especially off in the presence of the shaykh. When they are off, they are off, they are off, then the shaykh sends them away and says, “Now you are on.” You are in an ocean where you’re on. And only through the testing they trust what you are hearing, because if they didn’t test you and they didn’t crush you, then most likely what you are hearing is your own bad character and your own waswas. If they don’t test you and they don’t crush you, they don’t trust what you are seeing because, what you are seeing could be the jinn world and playing with jinn.
All of this crushing brings the perfection of what you hear. I hear my teacher, I hear my shaykh, I hear what Allah (Azza wa Jal) wants above all, I hear what Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) wants above all, and what these ulul amr are ordering me. If I can’t take the orders and teachings of ulul amr, how will I be listening to Prophet (sallalahu alayhi wa sallam)? It is impossible.
That is why the itibah (following) and companionship. Only through the companionship they begin to test you.
9:119 – “Ya ayyuhal ladheena amanoo ittaqollaha wa kono ma’as sadiqeen.” (Surat at Tawba)
“O you who have believed, fear Allah and be with those who are true (in words and deed).” (The Repentance 9:119)
They begin to test you and agitate you, “Move left,” “No, I am not moving left now.” Okay you are not ready yet. “Move right,” “No I am not moving right now.” Okay you are not ready now. All of that is to agitate, to see the level of submission. As soon as you begin to submit, then they trust what you hear, they trust what you see, they trust what is coming into your heart. They trust what your hands are earning, and they trust where your feet are going. If they trust these senses then they ask you to represent them wherever you go.
Wherever you go you are representing them and they speak upon your tongue. They hear through your ears, they see through your eyes, they breathe through your breath, they hold the hand and support the hand, and they are the qadam in which you are talking, and that is the reality that they are asking us to seek.
Prophet Yaqub (as) made Sajdah to Yusuf (as)’s Divinely Knowledge
That reality Allah (Azza wa Jal) (shows) at the end after all of the testing of Sayyidina Yusuf, Sayyidina Yaqub did what? He came and met his son and he made sajda.
12:100 – “Wa rafa`a abawayhi `alal `arshi wa kharro lahu sujjadan, wa qala ya abati hadha taweelu ruyaya min qablu qad ja`alaha rabbi haqqan wa qad ahsana bee idh akhrajani mina assijni …innahu huwal ‘Aleemul Hakeem.” (Surat Yusuf)
“And he raised his parents high on the throne (of dignity), and they fell down in prostration, (all) before him. He said “O my father, this is the fulfillment/explanation of my vision of before. My Lord has made it reality/come true. And He was certainly good to me when He took me out of prison…Indeed, it is He who is the Knowing, the Wise.” (Holy Quran, Joseph )
Allah used the word ‘sajdah’. He came and saw Sayyidina Yusuf (alayhis salaam), said what a barakah, what a blessing. Everything is in that surah. That is why Allah (Azza wa Jal) says: this is a beautiful surah. I am going to take whatever title you have and put you through difficulty, through all your crushing. Then you are going to ask for seclusion. I am going to bring you out of seclusion and I am going to dress you with My Names. Those holy names (asma ul Husna) have all authority.
- 1st Khalwah (Seclusion) – By force :Allah takes whatever title you have and put you through difficulty, testing and crushing
- 2nd Khalwah (Seclusion) – Voluntary: Then you are going to ask for seclusion.
- Knowledge – Allah brings you out of seclusion and dresses you with His Holy Names & Divinely Attributes
Awliya (Saints) give you Rizq, light as sustenance to your soul
Rizq (sustenance) is the rizq of the samaa (heavens) first, of Malakoot. When Allah (Azza wa Jal) dresses for rizq it is not that He gives you cash to buy a Porsche. The rizq is the light that is coming from the soul. That Allah (Azza wa Jal) will make you to be in charge of these lights and these energies. That from what your soul has of its light, Allah (Azza wa Jal) allows you to dispense that light and it provides a rizq upon everybody’s soul in that association. If Allah (Azza wa Jal) begin to send these lights onto your soul, all your rizq and physical rizq will change because rizq’s importance is the soul, not the temporary body. To be rich on your soul is what is important by Allah (Azza wa Jal).
It means these souls are ‘loaded souls’, they are filled with light. If Allah (Azza wa Jal) give that custodian permission, means the light that emanates from them, they move out and they dress everybody’s soul. If you get dressed enough, dressed enough, dressed enough, what happens? All your physical sustenance changes because now you are an honored soul, a blessed soul. Wherever you walk the light of your shaykh has been dressing you. Even the angels that guard you have to change. Wherever you go people say, “SubhanAllah you have a light that is different than what we have seen before of other people.” It means everything about that servant, begins to change from the honor of the light that has been deposited upon them. As a result of those lights, those lights, those lights, then `allama isma kullaha.
2:31 – Wa ‘allama Adamal Asma a kullaha,… “ (Surat al Baqara)
“And He taught Adam the names of all Realities …” (The Cow, 2:31)
Then Allah (Azza wa Jal) says: that soul that you carry is an honored soul. With it, I will dress it from its powers, from its lights and its angels. All of that are Divinely Knowledges. The soul that is fulkul mashhoon, is loaded with energies.
36:41 “Wa ayatul lahum anna hamalna dhurriyyatahum fil fulkil mashhooni.” (Surat Yaseen)
“And a sign for them is that we have carried their atoms in a loaded ship.” (Holy Quran, Ya Sin 36:41).
The soul that is fulkul mashhoon is loaded with energies, it’s by product is knowledge. And that is what Allah (Azza wa Jal), Sayyidina Adam (alayhis salaam) and what Sayyidina Yaqub (alayhis salam) was testifying. That the angels bowed down to the superiority of that knowledge. Sayyidina Yaqub was a prophet from the Bani Israel. What Prophet (sallallah alayhi wa sallam) described from the `ulama under Sayyidina Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam)? That they are the inheritors…
[quote]عُلَمَاءِ وَرِثَةُ الْأَنْبِيَاء
“Al ‘Ulama warithat ul anbiya.”
“The scholars are the inheritors of the prophets.” Prophet Muhammad (saws)[/quote]
It means they inherit that maqaam where angels bowed down, creation bow down to the `uloom and the knowledge emanating from their heart because they are dispensing the Haqiqat al-Muhammadiyya, the highest of all realities.
53:5-6 “‘Allamahu shadeedul quwa. (5)
Dho mirratin fastawa.(6) (Surat an Najm)
“He was taught by one Mighty in Power. (5) One of soundness. And he rose to [his] true form. (6) (Quran, The Star 53:6-9)
That from Bani Israel did not have access to that knowledge. The greatness of the knowledge is from above that gate, these are all the realities of Sayyidina Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam). If for Bani Israel Sayyidina Yaqub was bowing down from ihtiraam (respect), imagine then the ihtiraam for the ones who are carrying the Nation of Sayyidina Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam)’s realities.
We pray that Allah (Azza wa Jal) opens for us the understanding of this holy Rajab and the Isra wal Mi’raj. That we are under the flag of Sayyidina Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) and the greatness of that flag that Qaaba Qawsayni aw Adna
53:7-9 “Wa huwa bil Ufuqil a’la. (7) Thumma dana fatadalla. (8) Fakana qaba qawsayni aw adna. (9)” (Surat an Najm)
“While he was in the higher [part of the] horizon. (7) Then he approached and descended. (8) And was at a distance of two bow lengths or nearer. (9) (Quran, The Star 53:6-9)
What Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) is eternally being dressed from the proximity of laa ilaaha ilAllah Muhammadun Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) where nothing comes in between that reality. That is an eternal Mi`raj into those oceans of reality, that is the flag that Allah (Azza wa Jal) gave to us: I didn’t make you from any other Nation, I made you from the Nation that is at Qaaba Qawsayni aw Adna and eternally being dressed by these realities, blessed by their realities.
We pray Allah (Azza wa Jal) opens for us Isra wal Mi`raj into the heart of Prophet (sallallah u alayhi wa sallam). Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam)’s Mi`raj (ascension) is into Allah’s Presence, our Mi’raj (ascension) is into the heart of Sayyidina Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam).
Subhaana rabbika rabbil `izzati amma yasifoon wa salaamun `alal mursaleen wal hamdulillahi rabbil `aalameen. Bi hurmati Muhammad al-Mustafa wa bi sirri surat al-Fatiha.
