The Dress of Honor and Secret of Ramadan
From the Realities of Mawlana (Q) as taught by Shaykh Nurjan Mirahmadi
A’udhu Billahi Minash Shaitanir Rajeem
Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem
I seek refuge in Allah from Satan, the rejected one
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
The Dress of Honor is in the Month of Ramadan
Alhamdulillah, alhamdulillah, alhamdulillah, Allah (AJ) granted us a tremendous ni’mat (blessing). Always a reminder for myself this blessing, this dressing, this rahmah (mercy) that we call Ramadan, that is the sultan (king) of all the months. And Mawlana Shaykh (Q) teaching for us that it is the secret of the dress of honor, the dress of light, the dress of nearness to Allah (AJ).
That we have two dresses: one is an animalistic reality that we carry with us and is nourished 11 months out of the year. That we give that animal what it wants and it develops its relationship with shaitan (satan) and brings upon difficulty and it is the dress of the body. It is the dress of the haywan and the wildness of the body. And that they describe us as talking animals, that this is the reality of the planet of the apes, is to be ape-like, to be animalistic-like. And all that we focus on is the animalistic form and really never thinking that that body is going into the grave. And the time that Allah (AJ) has given to us was to dress the reality of the soul, the reality of our true being, the reality of light, to beatificate that light, to purify that light, to bring its nearness and its reality, its love for Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, love for Allah (AJ).
Allah (AJ) Chains Shaitan During Ramadan
That is what they describe as the secret of Ramadan. That 11 months, our shaitan is running wild and governing the physical being. And Allah (AJ) wanted for us this rahmah (mercy), wanted for us this dress, wanted for us this reality and said, ‘In one month, I’m going to chain your shaitan.’
‘An Abi Hurrairah (ra) qala, qala Rasulullahi ﷺ, “Izaa dakhala shahru Ramadana futtehat abwabu al Jannah wa ghulleqat abwabu Jahannama, wa sulselatish Shayatin.” [Sahih al Bukhari 1800, & Sahih Muslim 1079]
Abi Hurairah (ra) reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “When the month of Ramadan begins, the gates of the heaven are opened and the gates of Hellfire are closed and the devils are chained.” [Sahih al Bukhari 1800, & Sahih Muslim 1079]
Shaitan Runs Through Our Blood
If you are able to fast and can enter into the state of fasting, I’m going to destroy your shaitan. I’m going to destroy your animalistic form. That once you put a discipline upon that animalistic form, it begins to be crushed. And Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ taught us that ‘shaitan runs through the blood.’ And what is constricted in the siyam and in the fasting is the blood.
‘An Anasin Qala Rasulallahi ﷺ, “Innash Shaitana yajri minal Insani majra addami.” [Sahih Muslim 2174]
Narrated by ‘Anas (ra) that the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said, “Satan circulates/flows through the human being as blood circulates/flow in the body.” [Authentic by Muslim 2174]
Allah (AJ) Makes the Difficulty of Fasting to Be Peaceful
That as soon as we enter into a state of siyam, it’s a miraculous reality. That we said before at the beginning of this month, that when we look to Ramadan and talk to other people, watch other websites, they think it a fire. They think it a fire that, ‘How you could possibly do that? How could you do that? How could your children do that? How could your loved ones do that?’ They think it an ‘aazab (punishment). They think it a tremendous difficulty that you’re going to enter into 19 hours of no water and no food.
And by the grace of Allah (AJ), it happens. By the grace of Allah (AJ), “Qulna ya Naaru, kuni Bardan wa Salaman ala Ibrahim (as) wa Ahle Muhammad ﷺ.”
21:69 – “Qulna ya Naaru, kuni Bardan wa Salaman ‘ala Ibrahim.” (Surat Al-Anbiya)
“We said, O fire, be cool and Peaceful upon Abraham.” (The Prophets, 21:69)
The gift that Allah (AJ) gave to Ummat e Nabi ﷺ (The Nation of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ) that what looks like a difficulty for you, looks like a fire for you, that ‘Ya Rabbi, how we’re going to do that?’ And any other day, if you tried to fast 19 hours, it’s heavy, it’s difficult. As soon as the gates of Ramadan open, baab ar-rahmah (doors of mercy) opens, it’s a tajalli (manifestation) and a light in which Allah (AJ) makes that which is so difficult in appearance to be something of a beautiful nature. That naar (fire), “Qulna ya Naaru, kuni Bardan wa Salaman,” where the world sees it as a fire and say, ‘Why would you do that?’ Said, ‘No, but you jump with me. This fire is very cool and peaceful.’
Allah (AJ) Rewards Us for Our Abstinence with Nurul Qur’an
And inside that fire is a paradise; can’t be described. That light and that dressing that can’t be described. And the excitement for iftar (breaking fast) to eat. And say, ‘Ya Rabbi, I don’t know if any of my ‘amal (good deed) is going to count, but this one You guaranteed You would give the reward directly, and You didn’t ask anything from me. You asked me just to fast, abstain from water, abstain from food.’
And immediately, Allah (AJ), when the body is abstaining, Allah (AJ) crushing that ego, crushing the animalistic form and dressing it with nurul Qur’an (light of Holy Qur’an), light of the heavens and the earth, light of the Divinely Presence, the Divinely Essences. Allah’s (AJ) uncreated Holy Speech begins to dress the soul. When the haywan, when the wild animal is tied, Allah (AJ) dressing the soul, dressing the soul, blessing that soul. And that soul becomes empowered and dressed by the Divinely lights.
And we can survive another 11 months of putting ourself through difficulties, putting ourself through hardships, struggling with our demons, struggling with our nafs (ego). And Allah’s (AJ) rahmah for us, the guarantee of success for us is the sawm ar-Ramadan (fasting in Ramadan). That, ‘As soon as you enter into that state of fasting, I will crush that animal. I will crush that being and I will dress it from My Divinely Lights.’
The Angel of Ramadan Intercedes for Us
And there’s an angel by the name of Ramadan that comes to testify for the ones who are fasting; testify that, ‘Allah (AJ), they are fasting, ya Rabbi. Grant them from these lights, grant them from these blessings and allow me to intercede for them on a day of difficulty.’ Where you may look to your account and you think your count, ‘Oh, have lot of ‘amal in my account. Maybe it’s going to be big and good.’ And you find in Allah (AJ)’s presence, maybe it’s nothing. But the fasting of Ramadan begins to intercede and the angel of Ramadan comes, ‘Ya Rabbi, this is one of your servants who fasted for You, 30 days.’
The Longer Hours of Fasting Means More Rewards
And imagine the barakah and the blessing that Allah (AJ) giving to us here. That 19 hours, to counter all the corruption and façade that is surrounding us. It’s a blessing from Allah (AJ) that you are exposed to much more, so you require more cleaning, more blessings, more tajallis (manifestations) and, ‘I’m going to make it cool and peaceful for you.’ (Holy Qur’an, 21:69)
Even the children begin to enter into Ramadan and they don’t feel hunger. They feel maybe a little bit of thirst but not from their body, not from the reality of feeling pain of hunger and thirst, but from the nafs. The ego not wanting to be told what to do is the one that causing problems. Because as soon as you eat iftar and you have a little bit of water, you realize as if you weren’t even hungry to begin with. It was just only to satisfy the nafs, that, ‘I put you under such a difficulty. Here’s a little reward for you,’ and able again to go for another day.
We pray that Allah (AJ) give us all good health to meet the next Ramadan, inshaAllah; a long life, a good life, a happy life, a prosperous life. That Allah (AJ) make our deen (religion) to be sweet and blessed. Make it to be something easy and not something extreme, but something filled with the love of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. That with the love of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, everything can be accomplished. Every goodness can be given. Every light can be dressed upon us.
The Black Stone Will Bear Witness for Us on Judgment Day
InshaAllah, we’re going to have the ziyarah (pilgrimage) of the Holy Hair and a reminder for ourselves that Ahlul Iman (People of Faith), when they look at their surroundings, they begin to realize so many realities. We were watching the people at Umrah and making their Ramadan, making their Umrah, passing by the Holy House, Holy Ka’bah, and they keep their left shoulder. And as they pass Hajar al Aswad, the Black Stone, they give their shahadah (testimony of faith). Say, ‘Why you giving your shahadah to a stone?’ Because it will bear witness for us on the Day of Judgment that we came, ‘Labbaik Allahumma labbaik.‘
‘An ibn ‘Abbas (ra): Qala Rasullullahi ﷺ; “Wallahi layab ‘athanahu Allahu Yawmal Qiyamati lahu ‘aynani yubseru behima wa lisanun yantiqu bihi yashhadu ‘ala man astalamahu be Haqqin.” [At Tirmidhi (961) wa Ibnu Majah (2944)]
Narrated Ibn Abas (ra) the Prophet (pbuh) said: “By Allah! On the Day of Qiyamah, Allah will present the Hajar al Aswad in such a manner that it will have two eyes and a tongue to testify to the Imaan (faith) of all those who kissed it.” [Tirmidhi (961) & Ibn Majah (2944)]
What is Holier – Rocks of Paradise or the Owner of Paradise?
What’s higher – a stone from paradise or the Owner of paradise? Ahlul iman, they realize – you’re going around stones and you’re giving your shahadah to the stone, and you think it to be something great because it’s from paradise. What about giving your shahadah to the Owner of paradise, Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ?
What holier – the stone and the rocks of paradise, or the sultan (king) of paradise, sultan of heavens and sultan of the earth, Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ?
One Holy Hair of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ Carries the Divinely Tajalli
The ahlul Iman (people of faith) require a light within our hearts that one strand of hair of the Holy Prophet ﷺ contains the DNA and the reality of Prophet ﷺ. And wherever that reality is, Allah’s (AJ) tajalli like a magnet. The juzba‘s (attraction) moving towards the reality of Prophet ﷺ. This means whatever Allah (AJ) dressing these universes for the love of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, one hair enough to carry all that tajalli (manifestation) and bring it into your presence.
And a reminder for us when we’re looking in there, ‘Labbaik, Allahumma labbaik,’ and crying and running to kiss the stone, running to kiss the stone, running to kiss a stone!
“Labbaik Allahumma Labbaik”
“I am here at Your service, O Allah, I am here at Your service.”
What better? Run to kiss the hair of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. That Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ to testify for us, ‘Ya Rabbi, what they saw of me, just my Moye Mubarak (Holy Hair of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ). And they testified to Your Oneness and they kissed the hair for tabaruk (blessing).’ What higher, which one higher – a stone from paradise or the Owner of paradise?
Two Billion People Fast to Show Respect to Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ
We pray that Allah (AJ) increase us in iman (faith), increase us in the light of iman and to see the greatness of what Allah (AJ) has given to us is the greatness of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. Two billion people fasting and keeping their religion, keeping their way. Why? Why Allah (AJ) didn’t let it leave their heart and drop their Ramadan? Because this was the tashrif (honor) and the respect of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. That Allah (AJ) teaching us, because he brought that ruh (soul) and he brought that law alaihis salatu wasalam, introduced that law to you, ‘When I’m going to honor Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, everything he brings for you, I’m going to support it. Until the Day of Judgement, there will be people fasting to show their love for Allah (AJ) and Allah (AJ) showing His love for Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. That’s why they keep their deen, they keep their fasting, they keep their way.
We pray that Allah (AJ) grant us from these lights, grant us from the nurul Qur’an (light of Qur’an), nurul Islam (light of Islam), nurul Iman (light of Faith), nurul Ihsan (light of Moral Excellence), and that keep us under the shade of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, Ashab an Nabi ﷺ (holy companions of Prophet ﷺ), Ahlul Bayt an Nabi ﷺ (Holy Family of Prophet ﷺ) and awliyaullah (saints). May Allah (AJ) always keep us in the company of those whom He is pleased with.
