Nikola Tesla is one of the well-known visionary inventor of the modern age that many people in the West is aware of his theories. Aside from his electrical inventions, Tesla spoke of an unseen force, an “ether”, which connected all of existence. He believed the “ether” is a hidden, all-encompassing force that carried energy, vibrations, and even consciousness throughout the cosmos.

In Sufism, we see a similar view of the universe. The world is not just a physical place, but a manifestation of divine energy and vibration. All creation comes to existence from one light (Nur Muhammadi) from Bahrul Qudrah (The Ocean of Power). The Nafas ur Rahma (Breath of Mercy) is the spiritual force and power (qudra) that sustains all creation. Ibn Arabi taught how this divine breath is continuously flowing, bringing life, light, and mercy into the universe. The entire creation exists in Bahrul Muheet (All-Encompassing Ocean) of the Perfected Being.

Tesla understood the ether as the force behind everything. Similarly Sufism teach that that everything is created from one light and from Bahrul Qudrah (The Ocean of Power). The Breath of Mercy sustains the entire creation through energy and vibration.

Tesla’s Concept of the Ether – All-Encompassing Medium that Carries Energy

Tesla spoke of the ether in a way that connected everything. He saw it as the medium through which all energy flows.

A medium for energy transmission: ether is the subtle energy that carries the electromagnetic waves.
A vibrational field: It is the vibration that binds everything together.
Non-material yet real: Though unseen, ether is real and impacts all creation.

The Universe as a Living Entity – Tesla saw the cosmos as a single, conscious entity governed by universal laws.

Tesla understood that everything in this universe operates according to the frequency of vibration. When we understand this, we begin to see that everything is energy.

Sufi Concept of Bahrul Qudrah – Ocean of Power

In Sufi metaphysics, the universe is a manifestation of Divine Light and sustained by Divine Breath:

Bahrul Qudrah (Ocean of Power) – is the origin of all creation
Everything is created from One Nur (Divine Light)
Conduit of Power: Ibn Arabi described that the Muhammadan Reality is the first emanation from the Divine and the medium for divine manifestation. It’s acting as a conduit through which divine knowledge and power flow into creation
Nafasur Rahma (Breath of Mercy) sustains all creation. Everything is creation praises the Divine. (Quran 17:44)
Malakut (World of Light) controls the Mulk (Material World) – Everything has to exist in the World of light before it manifests in the world of form.

Comparative Themes

When we look at Tesla’s understanding of the ether, we find lots of similarities to ancient Islamic teachings of science and spirituality, especially Sufism.

Tesla and Shaykh Nurjan’s perspectives on the transmission of power reflect two distinct realms—one rooted in physics and technology, the other in spiritual energy and esoteric knowledge.

Tesla Perspective: Scientific Transmission of Power

Tesla believed in wireless transmission of electrical energy through resonance.

Resonance & Frequency Attunement: Energy can be transmitted efficiently without direct connection, when objects are tuned to the same frequency.
Wireless Energy Transfer: Electricity can travel through the air using electromagnetic fields.
Unlimited Energy Potential: Tesla believed that the Earth and ionosphere could serve as a medium for global energy transmission.

Tesla envisioned transmitting electricity over long distances without wires, using the Earth and atmosphere as conductors.

Shaykh Nurjan’s Teaching: Spiritual Transmission from the Ocean of Power

Shaykh Nurjan Mirahmadi, a Sufi Master, draws parallels between deep spiritual realities and modern technological concepts, to describe the transmission of divine energy and knowledge. One such analogy is the concept of “Divinely Wi-Fi,” as a continuous spiritual connection between Divine power and creation.

Divinely Wi-Fi: Shaykh Nurjan explains that just as Wi-Fi signals transmit information wirelessly, there exists a “heavenly Wi-Fi” that broadcast from the Bahrul Qudrah (Ocean of Power). This spiritual signal of guidance flows through unseen channels, transmitted via Muraqabah (spiritual Connection) to the Spiritual guide, who is a conduit of divine light, much like a modern energy transmitter.

Divinely Commands (Amr) – From Ocean of Power, Divinely Commands (Amr) is transmitted through angels and Grand Spirit (Quran 97:4) as Wireless signal. This process governs the spiritual and physical realms in divine’s kingdom
Hearts is a Receiver – The heart acts as a receiver of the signal and the divine command.
Muraqabah (Spiritual connection) to the Spiritual guide is the system to connect to Divinely Wi-Fi.
Frequency Attunement: Spiritual alignment with the Shaykh allows the seeker to receive the signal, the Divine command, and energy.

Through these teachings, Shaykh Nurjan illustrates the concept of an omnipresent, divine communication system that sustains and guides all aspects of existence, drawing insightful parallels between contemporary technology and timeless spiritual realities.

Interestingly, both emphasize resonance, whether in electromagnetic fields or spiritual frequencies, showing a deep connection between science and spirituality.

Implications and Conclusion

Both Tesla’s Ether and Shaykh Nurjan’s teaching about Ocean of Power describe a limitless field of energy that permeates existence. Tesla saw the Ether as a medium for instantaneous energy transfer, much like modern quantum fields, while Shaykh Nurjan teaches that divine energy flows from Nur Muhammad through muraqabah (spiritual connection).

A key parallel is resonance—Tesla believed tuning into the right frequency could harness infinite energy, just as Shaykh Nurjan teaches that aligning with a spiritual guide allows access to divine power. This mirrors quantum entanglement, where energy and information transcend physical space, through love and madad (spiritual support) bridging vast distances.

Both perspectives point to a hidden, interconnected field beyond material perception—Tesla approached it through science, Shaykh Nurjan through spiritual refinement, yet both unveil a profound, unseen reality shaping our existence.
