SEEKING REFUGE IN THE ALL MIGHTY Allah
SEEKING REFUGE IN THE
ALL MIGHTY Allah
No Where to Hide and No Where to Run
From the Realities of Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani (Q) as taught by Mawlana Shaykh Nurjan Mirahmadi.
A’udhu Billahi Minash Shaitanir Rajeem
Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem
I seek refuge in Allah from Satan, the rejected one
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Alhamdulillah trying to reach towards Divinely presence and Divinely service and from Mawlana Shaykhs teaching; the only way to reach that presence is thru the understanding of nothingness. It is that to be nothing, to efface oneself and enter into that ocean of Divine love, Divine mercy, and Divine satisfaction. Mawlana Shaykh and Sultan al Awliya are emphasizing that seek refuge, and that the key for understanding, the key for our first step in everything we do in life, because if we don’t have the first step then every step after that is build upon bad choices, bad desires and what we call falsehood.
Means then the opening of a`oodhu billahi min ash-shaytaani ‘r-rajeem. A’oodhubillah is that; “I am seeking refuge in You my Lord, in Divine kingdom, Heavenly kingdom by Your illahiyaat, by Your Divinity and Your Might and Your Majesty from Shaytaani ‘r-rajeem, means the accursed one; bad character, bad evilness. If we don’t believe that there is a shaytan then we have to call it evilness. And that: “I am seeking refuge in Your Might and in Your Majesty from all wickedness, all evilness, from all bad desires.” That (evilness) Allah azzahwajal describes: “We show you signs within yourself and upon the horizon,” so then all we have to do is watch the news, drive down the street and read a newspaper and we see how wickedness surrounds us. People who lend themselves to bad desires, to their will and to their wants based on those wants, they inflict harm, and they inflict difficulty and oppression upon people.
Then Mawlana Shaykh is teaching us; the key for opening that heart, the key for moving into that reality is that you have to leave the reality that you are in. It is that: “we have to acknowledge that we are in a difficult situation, that we have put ourselves within difficult conditions,” means the first step of humility is to acknowledge my faults and my wrongs. If I am under the impression that I am saintly and that I have already achieved all there is to achieve then never the thought of auzubillah comes, because you are filled with arrogance. Pride and boastful character doesn’t seek refuge. So then to counter and combat arrogance is to efface oneself (turning to) my Lord, “I am nothing I know nothing. And I am filled with bad character, I am seeking refuge in Your heavenly kingdom and in your might and Your majesty,” later that will be explained in Bismillahi ‘r-Rahmaani ‘r-R aheem.
So for us every action is by intention. So when we are intending to move towards the divine kingdom Mawlana Shaykh is asking us to reflect and think again; that what is opening the heart is that we are asking to leave the shaytanic kingdom, bad desires evilness, wickedness, and all my wants, all that I always want. And I am asking to leave all of that and I am asking to move towards your Divine kingdom towards Your Might, towards your majesty towards, your power towards your kingdom,” means then if I am leaving these bad desires and seeking refuge in my Lord and asking to move into that Heavenly Realm, then anything you seek refuge in becomes a protection for you. That is why you have to invite, the laws in spirituality (are) you have to invite goodness or you have to invite wickedness. If we have lent our life (before), because at a certain age you reach a sense of consciousness you are 20, 25, 18, 28, 30 (years of age) and you say; “I am seeking a path.” It means you have opened up from a drunken state. I am seeking now a path towards Heavenly kingdom and most likely I have been living in the satanic kingdom, the kingdom of my wants and my desires evilness, whatever people like to call it. I have been living in the world of my desires and now I am asking: “to move towards Your Heavenly kingdom, towards Your might and Your Majesty,” means at that point we have to invite the Divine kingdom that there has to be a door in which you are going (to go) through.
The movie ‘Alice in wonderland’ where you fall into the hole.
Prophet (s) had a description, that if you follow evilness and wickedness you will follow it like a rabbit into a hole. At any time when we lend ourselves ,there is a wisdom in that movie why people find it to be so amazing is that we begin to copy, we begin to do, we begin to act upon our wants and our desires and before we know it we are ‘Alice in that wonderland,’ in a land that makes no more sense, it is no longer real, a land based on complete fantasy and (then) saints come and begin to teach us; “wake up you have a eternal journey and you are playing drinking drugging doing all these things like ‘Alice in wonderland.’ They used to sing a song; ‘Lucy in the sky with diamonds,’ you are just hallucinating. You are so completely lost you don’t even see it and you are not even conscious of it and you are not waking up from it.
So the conscious men, conscious women with saintly characters they begin to teach us; “you follow, follow, followed all the desires until you fell into that hole and now you are so lost in that hole you think that to be real!” So at some point you have to begin to learn your zikr of inviting the Divine Presence. So Mawlana is teaching us that at every moment say a`oodhu billahi. That as soon as you say: a`oodhu billahi min ash-shaytaani ‘r-rajeem, “O my Lord I am seeking refuge in You, in Your might and in Your Majesty which is all encompassed in your heavenly kingdom against the shaytan, which is the symbols of bad desires and my wants; “I am asking to leave that and enter thru that door,” means “I am making my kiblah/ direction Your door. I am asking; please my Lord let me to go thru that door. I understand that I am falling into my desire.” Then a side on that we see how a reality is very subtle if we don’t understand.
The whole of scriptures from Old Testament New Testament to holy Qur’an is based on “Thy Kingdom Come, Thy Will Be Done, on Earth as it is in Heaven.” So all Prophets are teaching the same reality; teaching for people to pray that Gods Kingdom (has) to come. And now all the Abrahamic faiths are preparing and (there are) big ego battles on what that kingdom is. And where is it coming? But Sufis have a much deeper reality that put that argument aside. Before we worry of where that Kingdom is coming down, on what piece of soil with what exact message, the message that all the Prophets were teaching is that: “Thy Kingdom Come, Thy Will be Done on Earth as in Havens,” means first God’s kingdom has to come into the heart, and that His Will must be manifesting in my heart.
It means my heart has to open to God’s will and my heart has to throw out shaytan. If shaytan is sitting upon the throne of my heart, shaytan or my desires, my “I”-ness (selfishness), means the one eye, we saw in the Lord of the rings the one eye that chases you around, yes? Because “I” it’s very symbolic, that the bad one who is coming, the character of deceit has one eye. And it is symbolic of people who speak “I”; “I”, “I” did this, “I” am this, “I”, “I”, “I” because he is making the zikr of the one eye. But the people of reality are taught at very young age, don’t say “I” in your discussions and in your conversations say: they, He, we, yahuwa, ya HuuWaa, Hu is He. Throughout holy books, (it is mentioned): they, we, the Heavenly Kingdom, the only one who says “I” is nafs and shaytan: “ana rabilyil ‘ala,” (“I” am the Lord most high); it was Shaytan’s zikr, whispering to Fir’aun (Pharaoh), that when you are arguing against Nabi Musa (as), Prophet Moses (pbuh), keep telling him you are the most powerful most high and that in your Kingdom you are the power, you are the Lord most high.
So then our whole understanding is to move away from that “I”. That “I” gets myself in trouble. My will and too much of my “I” is going to be under that tajalli of that master of the one eye. That I am going to be following my shaytanic thoughts, my egoistic thoughts and my bad desires. Then Mawlana Shaykh is teaching us seek refuge, at every moment seek refuge, when you are eating, because this is a whole plan. When you are going to fly like a rocket to that Divine presence, then what is going to sustain you? The most important (thing) is your food and water. So with your food and water, is its sustenance going to be clean?
Who prepared it? With what energy did they put into it? What energies are manifesting all around it? If that is supposed to be fuelling your temple; because most new age people say that the body is the temple. It means that if my body is going to be my temple and I am asking for the Divine presence to occupy that reality, so then what are you putting within that temple? That is again going to determine the quality of that (energy), are you putting wholesome good clean sustenance? Then Mawlana Shaykh is teaching that: “make sure that you have your prayer.” Again I am about to eat and drink and I am asking a`oodhu billahi, “ O my Lord I am asking to eat this and I am seeking refuge in You and Your might and Your Kingdom, Your power,” means what ever blessings You (our Lord) are going to give to me, I have to ask for it. You cannot just presume its coming. Means the act of asking is an act of invitation.
Sometimes we think we are at a very high level where we don’t have to ask anymore. We don’t have to say what our condition is, we don’t have to describe to anybody what our condition is, they know. Maulana is teaching (it is) very dangerous. You are not at that level. That level is for Sayyidina Ibrahim and AwliyaaAllah who are inheriting. The AwliyaaAllah they would be thrown into a fire and then (like) Sayyidina Jibreel (Gabriel) who came (to Sayyidina Ibrahim) and said: “do you want us to save you?” He said: “my lord knows my condition.” if we try to copy that at a station where we don’t have that faith then you will be thrown into a fire that is going to burn very bad. Put your hand over the oven now and say my Lord knows my condition. If that fire decreases, alhamdulillah you are safe. For most of us, it’s going to burn like hell. Then don’t presume that you are at such a level. Again that comes from the level of arrogance, (the thought that) “I am at a level, they know my condition.” No, no you have to state your condition. You have to state your condition also with your teacher and your Shaykhs. You can’t let Mawlana use his spiritual ability to extract something you could say by your tongue. It means that people would come to Mawlana and he would ask “how is this?” And they would say nothing and Mawlana would ask “how is it?” And they would say nothing, and then (they would say) you know best sayyidi. He says of course i know best, if I am going to use that spiritual ability must be an order from the Prophet (s) to use that spiritual ability. “Why i am going to use the spirit ability to find out something about you when you are right in front of me and you can say it.” Means are they going to take out a spiritual bazooka to shoot at an ant? Again that comes from our arrogance; that we think that we are at such a level that we are communicating at the level of saints.
Means then they are teaching us our whole approach (is to) “be humble, be humble” that i am nothing. I am no one. “O my Lord I am seeking refuge in You for everything. That this is my state this is my condition. This is my difficulty. Grant me that key, i am about to drink, i am seeking refuge in your might and in your majesty, bless my water and bless, bless my food, bless my sustenance,” everything you are going say a`oodhu billahi, and seek refuge and move.
And then Mawlana Shaykh is even teaching us how you eat; put from your right hand into your mouth, still to this day after 3-4 years of teaching, there are people who don’t pay attention to that. And that alhamdulillah it is nasiha, (it is) an advice, you listen to it better (for you), you don’t listen to it then you come back 4 years later and say how come nothing (is) opening for me? Eh, how you want it to open? That is like you pee in the gas tank and you wonder why the car is not moving, because the car needs gasoline, it has a very high octane. Any impurity in the car, it won’t work. Forget about going to the bathroom, throw a chocolate that you like and that you can enjoy, throw a sugar cube into your car’s gas tank, it’s finished, simple little sugar cube that you think is harmless.
Everything in this key is an etiquette. Washing before you eat, that I am asking to seek refuge in Your Divinely kingdom, before I eat, before I pray, before I meditate because I am witnessing that all evilness is riding upon me; even when you are enlightened, you know it even more, so people who are jahil (ignorant) don’t understand that. The people who are reaching the enlightenment, they know even more that as soon as they move, especially when they move outside and come back inside, they are filled with difficulties.
Because like a light bulb in a dark, dark night, as soon as the light bulb goes on, it attracts all mosquitoes. So immediately they know the power of washing. So as soon as they do anything they wash, they wash with water, because water is angelic power. They wash away because it goes back with a`oodhu billahi min ash-Shaytaani ‘r-rajeem. When you live and breath with the understanding of a`oodhu billahi min ash-Shaytaani ‘r-rajeem, that I am fiercely in battle against my ego, and its partner in wickedness. I have to wash for that battle I have to pray for that battle. Everything that I am about to eat and drink that is going to sustenance me, I have to pray over (it), I have to wash and cleanse my self over it and I have to eat from what’s clean in it, so when the left hand is for washing your body parts, after you use the facility, you have to clean with the left hand so from that left hand you don’t want to put that into your mouth. Its najis it’s dirty so then you sustain yourself with your right hand. And then you observe those mannerisms, the observation of that mannerism itself is a key cause Allah azzahwajal is looking, Prophet (s) is looking; Allah almighty is looking and saying: “you are asking to seek refuge, but what are you doing to save yourself in that act? Mawlana is saying it is like going up to a battle and you show up in your underwear. So what battle were you ready for? When you really believe that your battle against your ego is the most difficult battle of your life, you show up every time fully armed spiritualy.
Spiritual armour, you wash you clean your understanding of your heavenly sword, your heavenly sword, and its handle is in asking for Gods might and majesty seeking refuge in all evilness and wickedness. As it (evil) overtakes me and overpowers me and is surrounding me i am asking: “ya Rabee from a`oodhu billahi min ash-Shaytaani ‘r-rajeem ,” at that time the response and the opening for that key, cause you have to take yourself to the door so then everything we are doing is taking ourselves to that door, so then we are washing, we are cleaning ourselves, we are saying a`oodhu billahi min ash-Shaytaani ‘r-rajeem, eating with our right hand because we are asking for the sustenance to be pure and purified for our body then;
Bismillahi ‘r-Rahmaani ‘r-R aheem, in opening that door and entering. That I am asking: “ya Rabee in the name Allah, ar-Rahmaan, ar-Raheem that in your all encompassing (name), I am asking for your Divine presence and that Divinity that (is) moving ‘bi-ism-Allah’ (by the name of Allah), in Allah’s most majestic name and then manifesting itself in ar-Rahmaan ar-Raheem means then they begin to explain the intention. “Bi-is-mi”, that by that name I am at that door, that secret name, that Divinely presence that I cannot reach but that Divinely Essence, God’s divinely essence is dressing that heavenly kingdom where all the prophets are sitting, where all the saints are sitting, where all the angels are sitting. It means that Heavenly Kingdom where Divine essence is manifesting so I am asking “bi-ismi-Allah,” “O Allah i am asking in your name, I am now at your door, from ar-Rahmaan ar-Raheem, means the name (of) Your essence that is dressing (all Creation):
“Ar-Rahmaan” dressing the (world with) compassion and mercy, for this physical world. Sifaatul (the attributes of) Rahmaan then is dressing all the manifested world. And from sifaatul Raheem (this) is dressing all the unseen world. And that under sifaatul Rahmaan: “dress me from that world, let me to drink from the wine of Your reality from the wine of ar-Rahmaan, the wine of the four rivers; Bismillahi ‘r-Rahmaani ‘r-R aheem, means it is the water of Meem in “bi-ismi,” from the (letter) “haa” of Allah is milk which is the knowledge, the water is the water of life. So you are at the door from the “meem” of “bi-ismi,” the water of life, from Allah the all encompassing name of that divinely presence is dressing with the milk in Divine knowledge’s. It begins to manifest in the physical known world under the attribute of ar-Rahmaan, means to the wine, and to drink from the wine means our sustenance. The wine was symbolic; it is not a fermented wine, that ‘sharaab’ is a nectar that sustains us in the physical world and our soul. We are asking to be dressed by that (attribute of) ar-Rahmaan, dressed by that wine of our sustenance; “that dress me, provide my sustenance to be pure, my money to be pure, and my food to be pure.”
If my money my food and my drink are pure, it will lead to the purity of my soul. If anyone of them introduces an impurity then the impurity begins to dress my physicality. Again like water that you are asking to nourish your tree and somebody begins to pour something not clean into that water. It contaminates everything. So we are asking: “ya Rabee bi-ismi-Allah. Ya Rabee ya Rahmaan from the sifaatul Rahmaan that is going to dress me, to sustain myself and my physicality and open the reality of my soul, let it to be pure let it to be purified. And you get to move into that reality. And then under sifaatul Raheem is the reality of the soul and the sustenance for the soul. Means that is the river of honey. The water, the milk, the wine and the honey. Honey is an intercession; honey is a healing it’s a shifa’at means that: “dress me from that secret of that honey, dress me from that intercession and that healing so that my soul is healed, and reaches that light, reaches that reality, and reaches that majesty.” As my soul is being healed that light is improving me improving my family, improving my community and we begin to open the reality of Bismillahi ‘r-Rahmaani ‘r-Raheem, and try to move into that door, move into that presence and we begin to open that reality.
InshaAllah we pray that Mawlana Shaykh will be happy with us and inspire us to live a life constantly seeking refuge from my own wickedness and to acknowledge my faults my difficulties my short comings and that he prays on our behalf in the presence of all the Prophets, and the Prophets be happy with us and pray to Divinely presence that open for them the reality of A`oodhu billahi min ash-Shaytaani ‘r-rajeem, and bee-haqq Bismillahi ‘r-Rahmaani ‘r-R aheem bee-hurmati Muhammadun Mustafa wa bee-sirri-suratil Fatiha.
