7 Maqams of Surah Fatiha A Believer Must Traverse – Part 1
From the Realities of Mawlana Shaykh (Q) as taught by Shaykh Nurjan Mirahmadi
A’udhu Billahi Minash Shaitanir Rajeem
Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem
I seek refuge in Allah from Satan, the rejected one
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Alhamdulillahi rabbil aalameen was salaatu was salaamu alaa ashraf al mursaleen Sayyidina wa Mawlana Muhammad al Mustafa sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.
Audhu Billahi min ash Shaitanir Rajeem, Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem, ateeullah wa atee ar-rasul wa ulul amrin minkum.
(Surat An-Nisa)
“O You who have believed, Obey Allah, Obey the Messenger, and those in authority among you…” (The Women, 4:59)
Alhamdulillah always a reminder always for myself, ya Rabbi, ana abdukal ‘ajeez, wa dayeef, wa miskin, wa zhalim, wa jahl. If not by Your Grace and Your Rahmah, I cease to exist. And that alhamdulillah, we pray to be nothing, that Allah (AJ) dress us from His Divinely Rahmah and Mercy and dress us from the love of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ.
Ba of Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Has All Realities of Holy Qur’an
Alhamdulillah, awliyaullah come into our life and teach us that to seek knowledge and to seek the reality of ourselves. ‘Who knows themself will know their Lord,’ holy hadith of Prophet ﷺ that who knows himself will know his Lord.
“Man ‘arafa nafsahu faqad ‘arafa Rabbahu”
“Who knows himself, knows his Lord.” Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ)
This way is based on knowing the self and the reality that Allah (AJ) has encoded upon the self. And all of holy Qur’an is in 30 juz (parts), all 30 juz is in 7 verses of the holy surat, Surat al-Fatiha. And many realities dressing, which means all of the realities of holy Qur’an, whatever we can imagine is, is dressing these holy 7 verses of Surat al-Fatiha. And all of Surat al-Fatiha is dressing Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem. And all of Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem is dressing the secret of ba.
Imam Ali (as) is the Baab, the Door to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ
That ba is a baab, is a door. And Prophet ﷺ is describing, ‘Ana Madinatul ‘ilm‘- ‘I am the city of knowledges and Ali babahum‘. Imam Ali (as) is a caretaker of the baab.
Qala Rasolullah (ﷺ) “Ana madinatul ‘ilmin wa ‘Aliyyun baabuha.”
“I am the city of knowledge and ‘Ali (as) is its door/gatekeeper.” Prophet Muhammad ﷺ
So this means the reality of the zulfiqar (two-spiked sword) and the reality of Imam Ali (as) is at that ba. Saying you want to enter, ’cause as soon as that ba unfolds like a laser. Only now we understood, when they’re describing how all that reality in 30 juz means this vast power Allah (AJ) is dressing it into those 30 juz, now condensing, condensing into Fatiha, condensing into ’Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem’. So must be immense power on that ba. And then describing Asadullahi Ghalib, the victorious lion of Allah (AJ), is holding a zulfiqar and saying, ‘You want to enter into the ba,’ which means you want to enter into that reality.
First Maqam – Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem is the Crown of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ
1:1 – “Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem” (Surat Al-Fatiha)
“In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful” (The Opener, 1:1)
That reality, it’s dressing before we can truly understand, Allah (AJ) says, ‘I gave to you one of the greatest gifts, it is Surat al-Fatiha. And I gave to you a gift that I gave to no nation before was Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem.’ And what we’re trying to understand the realities of ’Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem’ because we say it first, it may not have the majestic reality of what it’s carrying. It is the crown of all creation. It is the crown of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. That is a tremendous gift from Allah (AJ).
Reciting Fatiha From First to Last Verse is From Its Paradise Realities
So when we’re reciting Surat al-Fatiha, the 7 verses of Surat al-Fatiha is the description of the maqam in which we are moving in. And because we recite it, Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem. Alhamdulillahi Rabbil ‘Alamin, Ar Rahmanir Raheem,’
1:1-2 – “Bismillaahir Rahmaanir Raheem. Alhamdu lillaahi Rabbil ‘aalameen” (Surat Al-Fatiha)
“In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds” (The Opener)
It means we’re reciting it from the paradise reality, not understanding that these are dresses that are dressed upon insan (mankind). This means when they’re trying to reach towards the ma’rifah (gnosticism) because the holy hadith of Prophet, ‘Who knows himself will know his Lord.’ Means take a path in which to know yourself. So start at the end; and the gate and the rahmah which Allah (AJ) gave.
“Man ‘arafa nafsahu faqad ‘arafa Rabbahu”
“Who knows himself, knows his Lord.” Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ)
Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Was Given As a Gift to This Nation
Allah (AJ) says, ‘I’m giving you this baab (gate). I’m giving you this opportunity to rise,’ by what? ‘by giving you Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem. No nation had it because it’s in paradise realities. So they didn’t achieve that mi’raj (ascension). They didn’t achieve that reality to get the Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem. But for you, the nation of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, I brought that baab, that gate, that reality, down so that it’s right at your door. It’s a tremendous gift because of My “Wa ma arsalnaka rahmatal lil’alameen,” because My Love for Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. I’m making it easy for his nation. Come through this gate.’
21:107 – “Wa maa arsalnaka illa Rahmatal lil’alameen.” (Surat Al-Anbiya)
“And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad (pbuh)], except as a mercy to the worlds/creation.” (The Prophets, 21:107)
Start From the Last Verse of Fatiha 1:7 and Contemplate Your Path in Life
So then when you enter Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem, what station are we on in life, it’s actually, Siratal lazina an’amta ‘alayhim, ghayril maghdubi ‘alayhim wa laddalin. It means at that beginning gate is our life.
1:7 – “Siraatal lazeena an’amta ‘alaihim, ghayril maghdoobi ‘alayhim wa lad-daaalleen” (Surat Al-Fatiha)
“The path of those upon whom You have bestowed Your grace/favor, not of those who have evoked [Your] anger or of those who are astray.” (The Opener, 1:7)
When we want to know what’s my darajat, what is my station. This is an answer to our life, that when we’re coming to the way of Allah (AJ), you recite the last verse of Fatiha and begin to contemplate, ‘What is my path?’ What’s the path that God wants for you? Anyone watching, they’re watching in their homes, wherever they are in the world, they say, ‘I’m on this path. I’m on that path.’ I don’t care what your opinion is of what you think your path is. God Almighty, Allah (AJ) is telling you, ‘Your path is, should be the path on whom I have bestowed all My Favours’. Some people say rahmah and mercy, all My Grace. Your path in life should be the path in which I have bestowed My Mercy, My Grace, My Tajallis (manifestations), My Happiness.’
7th Maqam (Station) Part 1 – This is Not the Path of Those Who Angered God or Gone Astray (1:7)
Is your path based on that reality? Do you truly think that what you’re doing in life is a path in which Allah (AJ) is happy, your actions are making Allah (AJ) happy? That you are taking a path towards that reality? ‘Cause then Allah (AJ) describes, just to clarify this path that you think you’re on, ‘It’s not the path of who’ve angered Me and definitely not the path of those who keep going astray.’ (Quran 1:7) [Img]
1:7 – “Ghayril maghdoobi ‘alayhim wa lad-daaalleen” (Surat Al-Fatiha)
“Not of those who have evoked [Your] anger or of those who are astray.” (The Opener, 1:7)
So whatever you think your Islam is, your Christianity is, your Judaism is, whatever you think you are following, Allah (AJ) giving it, at the head of that gate, you say ‘Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem,’ you go to that gate, that clarifies. Because that’s had dunya (limit of material world). When we are reciting, we’re reciting from paradise to dunya (verse 1-7). But we are living on dunya, trying to reach towards paradise. On dunya (material world), the gate is clearly in front of us that, ‘Take a way in which My Favour and My Rahmah (mercy), My Rida (satisfaction) and My Grace is upon that way.
Are You On a Path That Makes Allah (AJ) Happy?
Are you doing what’s making Me happy? Whatever you think is your path, are you making Me happy? Definitely don’t make your path in which you’re going to make Me angry; and don’t make your path in which it was astray. You know that that’s not My Way.’ You know what they’re saying; they say even within Islam, we’re not talking exclusive. If you think that you can go out and kill and harm people, you’ve already earned Allah (AJ)’s Anger and you’ve definitely gone astray. Then you should know you are not on the way of Allah (AJ). You’re whatever you are reciting is not even valid and nothing is being even sent into Divinely Presence.
Do You Sleep Peacefully At Night Or Are You in Conflict?
This means it becomes a litmus test for our lives, that, ‘Ya Rabbi, is what I’m doing Your Way? Are You happy with me? Is Your Grace upon me? Do I have to drink and take drugs just to sleep at night, to quiet my consciousness? Or I sleep like an angel? I put my head on the pillow as if I’m dead and in the morning you rise like you were dead, like you went to some other zone and came back.
Some people really will cherish a peaceful sleep. But all night long they’re unwinding and debating and thinking because they’re in continuous conflict with themself. They know from their mouths, from their brain and what their soul is telling them is in a big dispute. Your soul telling, ‘You should be submitting, we are going to be meeting the Almighty soon.’ Some may meet him in 5 minutes, some may meet him in 50 years. And Allah (AJ) says that, ‘Make sure that your path is something that My Grace and My Mercy, that I’m happy with you.’ And whatever you do in life, can you say ‘Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem’ on that action? If you cannot, then don’t do it. Don’t enter into Allah (AJ)’s Anger and don’t enter into Allah (AJ)’s Misguidance.
Whom Allah Guides is a Guided Soul
‘Whom Allah (AJ) guides is a guided soul; whom Allah (AJ) does not guide will never find guidance.’
18:17 – ” …man yahdillahu fahuwal Muhtadi, wa man yudlil falan tajida lahu waliyyan murshida. (Surah al Kahf)
“… He whom Allah, guides is rightly guided; but he whom Allah leaves to stray, for him you will never find Saintly Guide to the Right Way.” (The Cave, 18:17)
It means that our whole life is that debate: if you can rise above that struggle where you’re constantly choosing between right and wrong, “thumma amanu thumma kafaru” – ‘one day you’re believing, one day you’re not believing’, one day you’re believing, one day you’re not believing.
4:137 – “Innal ladheena amano thumma kafaro thumma amano thumma kafaroo thumma izdado kufran lam yakuni Allahu liyaghfira lahum wa la liyahdiyahum sabeela.” (Surat An-Nisa)
“Indeed, those who have believed then disbelieved, then believed, then disbelieved, and then increased in disbelief – Allah won’t forgive them, nor will He guide them on a path/way.” (The Women, 4:137)
Seek Allah’s (AJ) Satisfaction and Abstain From What Angers God
Then they say know who knows himself to know his Lord. It means begins the real struggle that, ‘Ya Rabbi, that’s it. Until I die I’m going on that way, seeking only that which pleases You and abstaining from all that angers You and makes it to be as if I’ve gone astray.’ That I don’t need to battle my consciousness.
Means every time I’m meditating to think that, ‘Is Allah (AJ) happy with me?’ “Ilahi Anta maqsudi wa ridaka matlub” (My God, You are my aim, and Your Satisfaction is what I seek). All Ahle Tariqa are told by their shaykhs your only zikr is that, ‘Ya Rabbi, I’m begging Your Forgiveness and seeking Your Satisfaction.’
“Ilahi anta maqsudi wa radhaaka matloob”
“My God, You are my aim, and Your Satisfaction is what I seek.”
If you think you accomplished that, ’cause this is the 7th level going towards the 7 paradises, this is the had of dunya.
Ask For Guidance to Siratal Mustaqeem (Straight Path)
The next level that the soul is moving in its reality, “Ihdinas-sirat al-mustaqim” (Guide us to the straight path). (Quran 1:6)
1:6 – “Ihdinas-Siraatal-Mustaqeem” (Surat Al-Fatiha)
“Guide us to the straight path” (The Opener, 1:6)
When you chose a path, ’cause this was the path at the gate, when you chose that path that you’re now entering into an ocean in which you’re going to be truthful to your Lord. ‘Ya Rabbi, I’m asking to take Your Straight Path.’ One of the names of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ is Sayyidina Siratal Mustaqim. It means awliyaullah (saints) come into our life.
7th Station Part 2 – Follow Those Whom ‘Allah (AJ) Has Bestowed Favours Upon’ (1:7)
If you want to take a path in which Allah (AJ) is happy, then follow those whom are on the path of Allah (AJ)’s Rida and Satisfaction.
1:7 – “Siraatal lazeena an’amta ‘alaihim, …” (Surat Al-Fatiha)
“The path of those upon whom You have bestowed Your grace/favor,…” (The Opener, 1:7)
For Ahlul Sunnah wal Jamah is wajibul taqlid; it’s mandatory (to imitate). And Ahlul Sunnah wal Jamah is wajibul taqlid, that you have to follow somebody who’s following somebody who followed somebody who followed, all the way to Ashabul kiram, the holy and noble Companions of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ because they followed, “Qul in kuntum tuhibbunAllah fattabiooni wa yuhibbakumullah”
3:31 – “Qul in kuntum tuhibbon Allaha fattabi’oni, yuhbibkumullahu…” (Surat Ali-Imran)
“Say, [O Muhammad], “If you should love Allah, then follow me, [so] Allah will love you …” (Family of Imran, 3:31)
You have to be from tabi’een (followers), wa tabi’ tabi’een (followers of the followers), who followed Prophet ﷺ. This means that whole tariqa (spiritual path) teaching is that your nazar (gaze), all your physical vision and your spiritual vision, put upon your qadam, put upon your path, put upon your feet. ‘Ya Rabbi, where are these feet taking me?’ When you look around, you say, ‘This is not the path of my shaykh and this is not the path of Prophet ﷺ.’ So then you are not on siratal mustaqim (straight path).
Be Careful What you Say and What you Type – Your Hands Will Testify
This means if you are making your life to go out and make fitna (confusion/anger) – there are people now who just type and put out crazy things to make fitna, to make arguments, to make crazy things, crazy talks, just continuously. That what was talk before now is with your fingers. Your fingers, they should make some art work for our artist, they show fingers with lips ’cause people think they’re typing and they’re not talking anymore – no no! Allah (AJ) say, ‘I’m going to seal your lips when I grab you. I’m going to grab your hands and your feet.’
36:65 – “Al yawma nakhtimu ‘ala afwahehim wa tukallimunaa aydeehim wa tashhadu arjuluhum bima kanoo yaksiboon.” (Surat YaSeen)
“That Day, We will seal over their mouths, and their hands will speak to Us, and their feet will testify about what they used to earn.” (YaSeen, 36:65)
It means that what you’re putting from your hands and what you’re writing and typing and the fitna that you, you want to make in life, you don’t think Allah (AJ) is angered by that? It means then people of tafakkur (contemplation), they think, ‘Ya Rabbi, I better not do anything that might be angering You.’ Then they become silent. Then they become quiet; they don’t talk, they don’t do anything until they’ve been given permission: go out and guide. Until that time, they are virtually unknown because they know what their hands produce and what their lips say, Allah (AJ) will hold them to account.
6th Maqam (Station) – Guidance to Siratal Mustaqeem ﷺ (Straight Path)
So siratal mustaqim is then that reality that they’re entering in, ‘Ya Rabbi, let me enter into that presence.’ You want that presence, then the love of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ begins to enter. That Sayyidina Sirat al-Mustaqim, that the presence and the ruhaniyat (Divine lights) of Prophet ﷺ is opening on that maqam (station) that, ‘I am Allah’s (AJ) Sirat al-Mustaqim (straight path)’.
Ulul Amr are Muqaddam – They Follow the Footsteps of Prophet ﷺ & Sahabi (as)
That’s why Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jamah means they are following on the sirat at-mustaqim. They follow on the footsteps, they follow on the qadam of Prophet ﷺ, qadame haqq (Footstep of Truth). They follow from the Companions qadame siddiq (Footstep of the Truthful), and they follow on the qadam of “ateeullah wa ateeur Rasul wa ulul amre minkum”. The ulul amr (saints); they are the people of the muqadam.
(Surat An-Nisa)
“O You who have believed, Obey Allah, Obey the Messenger, and those in authority among you…” (The Women, 4:59)
They follow the qadam (footsteps) of their shaykh; they don’t look up, they don’t look right, they don’t look left, they just look at the feet. My feet over your feet which means take me on sirat al-mustaqim.
Mimicking Prophet’s ﷺ Actions Means You Are On Siratul Mustaqim
If that path opens and you find yourself, ‘I’m doing what Prophet ﷺ did. I’m going for my jummah, I go for my prayers, I go for zikr, I go for mahfil‘. What more beautiful than that? Versus trying to compensate into your mind that, ‘Oh maybe if Prophet ﷺ was here he’d be doing that.’ No, no, no, no – is not true, Prophet ﷺ wouldn’t be doing that. You do what Prophet ﷺ would be doing. Then you know your life is sirat al-mustaqim.
5th Maqam (Station) – Tawheed (Oneness of Allah (AJ))
“It is You we worship and You we ask for help” (1:5)
If your life is sirat al-mustaqim, then they begin to open – these are now the openings of the Maqamul Iman (Station of Faith). Where Allah (AJ) then taking your soul, you want the reality? “Iyaka na’budu wa iyaka nasta’yin,”- ‘For verily, ya Rabbi, only I worship You and all, and only I seek help is in from You, ya Rabbi‘. “Iyaka na’budu wa iyaka nasta’yin,”
“It is You we worship and You we ask for help.” (The Opener, 1:5)
Means this is a, this is now a, a station in which every battle is beginning to take place. For real, real tawheed (oneness), real “Iya kana’ budu wa iya kanas-ta’in“, is ‘Verily ya Rabbi, I worship only You and I seek only Your Help.’
Real Awliya (Saints) Never Try to Change Allah’s (AJ) Will
And there is no awliya who comes into anyone’s life and should compete with Allah (AJ)’s Will. Those are charlatan. So when they have, Allah (AJ) says, ‘Have you taken your awliya as your lords and your protectors?’
7:3 – “Ittabi’oo maaa unzila ‘ilaikum mir Rabbikum wa laa tattabi’oo min dooniheee awliyaaa’; qaleelam maa tazakkaroon” (Surat Al-A’raf)
“Follow (O men!) the revelation given unto you from your Lord, and follow not, as friends or protectors, other than Him. Little it is ye remember of admonition.” (The Heights, 7:3)
They say, ‘What does that mean, does that mean you don’t have awliya?’ No, it means that those are not the right awliya. The guides and pious people, they’re never conflicting with Allah (AJ)’s Will. They’re never trying to change Allah (AJ)’s Will.
They’re merely here to guide people for you to submit to Allah (AJ)’s Will. That if they teach you in a different way, you’ll be more peaceful, you’ll be more tranquil. Do these zikrs, do these contemplation, do these du’as (supplications). That’s your dialogue with Allah (AJ). This is your qismat (fate) written for you. They only make your journey to be a little bit more comfortable and they begin to pray on your behalf, if that’s some sort of hardship.
Everything is Submission to Allah (AJ) and Nobody Escapes His Will
They begin to teach a deep, deep reality of “Iya kana’ budu wa iya kanas-ta’in“. This is the maqam in which ghadab and faith are in a big battle because we talked last time about the levels of the heart. It means how you can have faith and you can have anger? Because the reality of anger is from ignorance. When you’re angry at something, and you direct it to a person, and say, ‘I’m really angry at you for what happened.’ Its reality is it’s coming from Allah (AJ).
So awliya (saints) and those whom trained by awliyaullah, they’re saying, ‘Be careful now
!’ ‘Cause when you’re angry at that person in the heat of that battle and say ‘You are such a moron and why’d you do like that?’ When you go to meditate, Allah (AJ) inspire within your heart that, ‘Hey, who you’re yelling at? Who you angry with? I’m pulling his strings. You don’t believe that everything of this world is under My Taslim (submission)? Do you think anything moves 1 inch left or 1 inch right, especially with you, whom I love and I’m guiding? You think somebody escaped My Control and My Power?’ Nothing moves out of Allah (AJ)’s Hand, left or right, but everything is completely under Allah (AJ)’s Dominion. So there’s no need to be angry; just you submit to Allah (AJ)’s Will.
67:1 – “Tabarakal ladhee biyadihil mulku wa huwa ‘ala kulli shay in qadeer.” (Surat Al-Mulk)
“Blessed is He in Whose hands is Dominion/kingdom; and He has Power over all things.” (The Sovereignty, 67:1)
To Be Angry With Others is To Be Angry With Allah’s (AJ) Will & Your Destiny
When there’s a character in our life, why being angry? It’s the opposite of accepting Allah (AJ)’s Will, ’cause who you angry at? That’s why awliya (saints) come, ‘Be careful, be careful! Why you cursing and yelling and screaming at that person? You better visualize as if Allah (AJ)’s right there, God forbid!’ And you’re actually angry with Allah (AJ). You’re angry with what He wrote for you. You’re angry with what He’s bringing as a destiny for you. Even a destiny through someone’s hand that’s coming to you, it’s coming from Allah (AJ).
They (saints) understood complete taslim, complete submission. That when you go back in your tafakkur (contemplation) and you’re angry, and angry at this one and angry at that one, they come and teach you, ‘You’re angry probably only at Allah (AJ). You better correct that.’ And you begin to meditate, you should begin to cry, ’cause Allah (AJ)’s the best to keep His Hisab (account). He’s going to take His Hisab with you. ‘So are you angry with Me? You’re yelling at all these people, this one, that one, this one. You must have been angry at what I wrote for you. Let’s talk.’ It’s not going to be good.
Prophetﷺ described, ‘Don’t, don’t ask for a meeting with Allah (AJ) where He’s going to go over His Hisab. You come through the baab (door) of rahmah and mercy, that not, ‘Ya Rabbi, I want to take my hisab‘. ‘Ok if I take a hisab on there, I’m going to account for everything’. You go through a major audit, nobody survives that audit.
‘An As sayyidah ‘Ayesha (RA), ‘anin Nabi (saws), Qala: “laysa ahadun yuhasabu illa halaka qultu.
Ya Rasulullahi (saws), alaysa Allahu yaqulo: “hisaban yasira?”
Qala: “Zakal ‘gardu, wa laken man nuqishal hisaba, halak.”
Narrated by Sayida Ayesha (RA), the Prophet (Muhammad) peace and blessings be upon him said: “anyone who ask for his hisab (acconting), is doomed.
Sayyida Ayesha said: O messenger of Allah, Allah said: “easy account”.
The prophet (PBUH) said: “that is the settlement, but whoever asked for his account is doomed.”
[Sahih Muslim 5254]
Awliyaullah Teach Us to Bring Down Our Anger and Submit
So it means these are the knowledges of awliyaullah to bring down the anger: ‘What I have to be angry for, ya Rabbi (My Lord)? Whatever’s happening you are writing it, ya Rabb. I’m not going to enter into anger. I’m asking ya Rabbi, grant me just sabr. Grant me patience, ya Rabbi. Grant me a patience until you can put into my heart a sakinah, a tranquility so that I can pass whatever this situation. If You ever want, only if You want ya Rabbi, grant me a hikmah and a wisdom on why.’ ‘Cause then pious people are granted a hikmah from Allah (AJ).’ Do you know why that happened? And I grant you a wisdom and a knowledge of it. That way you’re understanding of My testing and when you want to go out and deal with people, you understand how I operate.’ But those who are jahl (ignorant), they don’t understand and their anger and their fighting and their continuous aggression is actually against Allah (AJ). It’s not “Iyaka na’budu wa iyaka nasta’yin” (Qur’an, 1:5). ‘It’s not Me that you worship and it’s not Me that you’re asking help for, ’cause if you are truly worshipping only Me, then you taslim (submit).’
Secret of Durood Sharif is ‘Salimo Tasleem’- Submit to Allah’s (AJ) Will
We said many times before, one of the secrets of salawat (praising upon Prophet ﷺ),…sallu alaihi wa sallimu taslim.’
33:56 – “InnAllaha wa malayikatahu yusalluna ‘alan Nabiyi yaa ayyuhal ladhina aamanu sallu ‘alayhi wa sallimu taslima.” (Surat Al-Azhab)
“Allah and His angels send blessings upon the Prophet [Muhammad (ﷺ)]: O you that believe! Send your blessings upon him, and salute him with all respect.” (The Combined Forces, 33:56)
They say, ‘No, taslima shaykh,’ sallu alaihi wa sallimu taslim – that the secret of durood sharif is if you praise upon Prophet ﷺ, the light of Prophet ﷺ begins to dress the soul and Prophet’sﷺ guidance begins to give isharat (sign) to your soul, that, ‘oh my beloved waladi (son), that just submit, taslim, taslim, submit. Stop your struggle and your fight! You’re making a fool of yourself in Divinely Presence! What do you to fight about? Submit to Allah (AJ)’s Will.’
As soon as you submit, maybe Allah (AJ) will lift His Hand from that test. But as much as you’re struggling and trying to bite the fingers that are feeding you – submit! Once you submit, He say, ‘Okay, you passed that one. Go on to the next one.’
Awliya are Given Divinely Senses Through Submission
If submission is occurring, the ghadab is going down, the anger is going down, the servant now is dressed with “Iyaka na’budu wa iyaka nasta’yin“. They are truly the worshippers of Allah (AJ) and they seek support only from Allah (AJ). That’s why the hadith describes them: ‘I become the hearing in which you hear, the seeing in which you see, the speaking in which you speak, the hands, YadAllah upon them means their hands have a qudra, (Qur’an, 48:10) the feet in which you move. Because you are sirat al-mustaqim.
48:10 – “Innal ladheena yubayi’oonaka innama yubayi’on Allaha yadullahi fawqa aydeehim, faman nakatha fa innama yankuthu ‘ala nafsihi, wa man awfa bima ‘ahada ‘alayhu Allaha fasayu teehi ajran ‘azheema.” (Surat Al-Fath)
“Indeed, those who give Bayah (pledge allegiance) to you, [O Muhammad] – they are actually giving Bayah (pledge allegiance) to Allah. The hand of Allah is over their hands. So, he whoever breaks his pledge/oath, only breaks it to the detriment/Harm/loss of himself. And whoever fulfills their covenant (Bayah) that which he has promised Allah (AJ) – He will grant him a great reward.” (The Victory, 48:10)
so much so that you are rabbaniyun (lordly souls), you ask me something, it become ‘kun faya kun’ (Qur’an 36:82). Why? Because you are “Iya kana’ budu wa iya kanas-ta’in“. You are worshipping Me the way I want to be worshipped. My Will upon your heart. So whatever you’re actually asking is My asking through your heart because you are already in submission to Me.
“…, wa la yazaalu ‘Abdi yataqarrabu ilayya bin nawafile hatta ahebahu, fa idha ahbabtuhu kunta Sam’ahul ladhi yasma’u behi, wa Basarahul ladhi yubsiru behi, wa Yadahul lati yabTeshu beha, wa Rejlahul lati yamshi beha, wa la in sa alani la a’Teyannahu, …”
“...My servant continues to draw near to Me with voluntary acts of worship so that I shall love him. When I love him, I am his hearing with which he hears, his seeing with which he sees, his hand with which he strikes and his foot with which he walks. Were he to ask [something] of Me, I would surely give it to him…” Hadith Qudsi (Sahih al-Bukhari, 81:38:2)
4th Maqam (Station) – ‘Maliki Yawmi Deen (Master of the Day of Judgement)’ (1:4)
Awliya Have Reached Their Dead Before Dying
At that time, Allah (AJ) begin to dress them from “Maliki Yawmid Deen” (Master of the day of Judgement) (Quran 1:4) – they met their death. They’re not waiting for a hisab on a day that something is going to be accounted. They reached mawtil qablal mawt (dead before dying). “Maliki yawmid din” means that they reached to their death.
1:4 – “Maaliki Yawmid-Deen” (Surat Al-Fatiha)
“Master of the Day of Judgment” (The Opener, 1:4)
When Allah (AJ) dressed them from sincerity, they begin in their tafakkur (contemplation) to see their qabr (grave) and they see the condition of their qabr; and everybody’s qabr is with the lights of jahannam (hellfire). And you have to revive yourself from that qabr to make it a light of paradise. It means everybody has a reserve ticket in the abode of difficulty. So when Allah (AJ) begin to open “Maliki yawmid din” for the servant, that, ‘I’m going to show you the Day of Judgement and who is the Supreme and the Sovereign Lord of that day?’ They begin to see their qabr (grave) in all of their tafakkur (contemplation). And they see all of its a’zab, they see all of its punishment. They see their place in the depth of that punishment.
Praisings Upon Prophet Muhammad ﷺ Illuminate the Grave
And awliyaullah reminding them within their soul that, ‘You begin to make durood sharif and salawat (praising) on Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ ’cause Allah (AJ)’s Ghadab (anger) never moves near Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ.’ And in their grave they begin the praisings upon Sayyidina Muhammadﷺ, and they see the ruhaniyat of Prophet ﷺ come into their grave and begin to illuminate their grave. That when the haq (truth) of Prophetﷺ comes, every falsehood that you brought into your grave will be washed away by the light of Prophet ﷺ.
17:81 – “Wa qul jaa alhaqqu wa zahaqal baatil, innal batila kana zahoqa.” (Surat Al-Isra)
“And say, Truth has come, and falsehood has perished. Indeed falsehood, [by its nature], is ever perishing/bound to perish.” (The Night Journey, 17:81)
Direct Yourself Towards the Sunlight of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ
Then Allah (AJ) described, ‘Now do you understand who’s “Maliki yawmid din“?’ Means that when the light of Prophet ﷺ comes, it’s a sun. And they described yawmal mahshar (the day of gathering/Judgement) they described it as a sun that burning and melting everything.
What we’ve been teaching for years now: direct yourself to the sun because if you are from light, that sun is going to be an ecstasy for you. But if you are from the world of form, that’s going to burn like heck, or burn like hell. For others it’s going to be paradise, ’cause Allah (AJ) described yawm al-mashar, that there are some who are reclining on couches and thrones and chairs.
76:13 – “Muttaki’eena feeha ‘alal araaa ‘iki laa yarawna feehaa shamsanw wa laa zamhareeraa” (Surat Al-Insan)
“Reclining in the (Garden) on raised thrones, they will see there neither the sun’s (excessive heat) nor (the moon’s) excessive cold.” (The Man, 76:13)
Why? Because the sun of Prophet ﷺ is shining everywhere, and they’re not melting but they are in ecstasy of the light. Those whom lives were of form and life of dunya (material world), willwhere they have big surprise. Now all of that form is melting in the presence of that light and of that reality.
3rd Maqam (Station) – The Most Compassionate, The Most Merciful’
Nur and Hay – The Light and Ever-Living
Then if they reach towards that understanding and they clean their qabr, Allah (AJ) begin to dress them from Sifat ar-Rahman ar-Rahim (attribute of the Merciful and Beneficent). From Sifat ar-Rahman is the Oceans of Light, that, ‘Your soul is going to be dressed from My Realities of Sifat ar-Rahman, and I’m going to be granting you from Ibad ar-Rahman that your soul be granted its lights. A treasure within your heart will be opened and your soul be dressed by its lights.’ And Sifat ar-Rahim begins to dress your reality from the Oceans of Al-Hayat (the Ever-Living).
1:3 – “Ar-Rahmaanir-Raheem” (Surat Al-Fatiha)
“Most Gracious, Most Merciful” (The Opener, 1:3)
Ibad ar-Rahman Are People of the Heart of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ
So then these awliyaullah, that’s why when they say, ‘Bi sirri Surat al-Fatiha,’ this is only one explanation from it; there’s a haqaiq (reality) from the top also coming down. This explanation going up is how Allah (AJ) dress them from Surat al-Fatiha. Means when they reached into that reality, Allah (AJ) took their arwah and their soul that, ‘You are now in My Sifat ar-Rahman. “Ar-Rahman al ‘Arsh astawa.” (my throne is upon the water). (Qur’an, 11:7). It means that they are the sultans of this entire earth and created creation. One of awliya can flip the whole world upside down if Allah (AJ) give them permission.
11:7 – “Wa huwal ladhee khalaqas samawati wal arda fee sittati ayyamin, wa kana ‘arshuhu ‘alal maa …” (Surat Hud)
“And it is He who created the heavens and the earth in six days – and His Throne had been upon water …” (Hud, 11:7)
That sifat (attribute) ar Rahman that Allah (AJ) said, ‘That sifat that is in charge of everything of the world of form, I’m dressing your soul. You are from Ibadur Rahman, the servants of the Sifat ar-Rahman (the most compassionate).
Ar Raheem (The Merciful) – Hay – Awliya Are Dressed From Reality of Ever-Living
Then after the cooking, after I take your soul and dress it and dress it and bless it in that, I throw you into the Oceans of Ar-Rahim, from Surat YaSeen, “Salamun qawlam mir-Rabb ar-Rahim,” because you are now from the people of the heart of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ.
36:58 – “Salamun qawlam mir Rabbir Raheem.” (Surat YaSeen)
“Peace,” a word from a Merciful Lord. (YaSeen, 36:58)
I take your soul from its nur (light) and I’m going to throw it into the Oceans of Ar-Rahim and it be dressed by hay,’ ’cause the ra, these are rabbaniyun (lordly souls). Hay because they’re Ahl al-Hayat, meem because they are from the Muhammadan reality, and then they become Ahl al-Hayat.
3:79 – “…wa lakin kono rabbaniyena bima kuntum tu`allimoonal kitaba wabima kuntum tadrusoon.” (Surat Ali-Imran)
“…Be Lordly Souls/faithful servants/worshippers of Him, Because (of what) you have taught the Book and you have studied it earnestly.” (Family of Imran, 3:79)
Ahlul Hayat Can Revive Dead Souls
Their light and their hayat, everywhere they go, they revive dead. Even dead things will come to life in their presence. And the hardest to revive is the heart of the believer and for them, very easy. The soul in the presence of their presence revives the souls that are dead. That was what Nabi Musa (as) was looking for when he was looking for 1 of those servants, Sayyidina Khidr (as). He said, ‘What happened? I thought we were going, we were going to eat,’ and there was a dried fish that came to life and jumped back into the river.
18:62-63 – “Falammaa jaawazaa qaala lifataahu aatinaa ghadaaa’anaa laqad laqeena min safarinaa haazaa nasabaa. (62) Qaala ara’ayta iz awainaaa ilas sakhrati fa innee naseetul hoota wa maaa ansaaneehu illash Shaitaanu an azkurah; wattakhaza sabeelahoo fil bahri’ajabaa (63)” (Surat Al-Kahf)
“So when they had passed beyond it, [Moses] said to his boy, “Bring us our morning meal. We have certainly suffered in this, our journey, [much] fatigue. (62) He said, “Did you see when we retired to the rock? Indeed, I forgot [there] the fish. And none made me forget it except Satan – that I should mention it. And it took its course into the sea amazingly (63)”. (The Cave, 18:62-63)
And that was sign of their presence, that they can take that which is dead, the fish is the soul; they can take that which is dead like a camel that had no water. Because their soul is emanating Sifat ar-Rahman, their souls are emanating Sifat ar-Rahim, it dresses and blesses everything. And there are many hadith from Prophet ﷺ by virtue of their presence, Allah (AJ) sends rain. By virtue of their presence tanzil ar-rahmah (descending mercy). A rahmah and a mercy is continuously flowing upon earth. [hds]
2nd Maqam (Station) – Praise Allah (AJ), the Lord of All Creation
After Allah (AJ) dressed them from that reality, He take them and dress them from “Alhamdulillahi Rabbil ‘alamin“.
1:2 – “Alhamdu lillaahi Rabbil ‘aalameen” (Surat Al-Fatiha)
“In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds” (The Opener)
This means their whole life is, “All praise due to Allah (AJ) and He is the Lord of all creation.” Because they come back and, and want to clarify: if you are of that reality, your reality is of an angelic reality. Do you think that angels are sitting and having unnecessary talk, unnecessary discussions, unnecessary use of their mouth, unnecessary use of their ability? They are dressed with the reality of Alhamdulillah.
Durood Sharif – Praising Upon Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ is Praising Allah (AJ)
It means everything about their existence is in the Hamd (praise) of Allah (AJ). It means all they want is to sit in the zikr and the mehfil, because the mehfil is the biggest praise of Allah (AJ) because when you want to praise upon Prophet ﷺ, ‘Allahumma salli ‘ala Sayyidina Muhammad,’ you are praising upon Allah (AJ) as you praise upon Prophet ﷺ.
Allahumma salli ‘ala Sayyidina Muhammadin wa ‘ala aali Sayyidina Muhammadin wa Sallim.
O Allah! Send Peace and blessings upon our master Prophet Muhammad and upon the Family of our master Prophet Muhammad (Peace be Upon him)
So their whole life is in praise, in praise, in praise. When someone comes and says, ‘What’s zikr? Why you have to do zikr?’ What are you supposed to do, talk about accounting? Their reality is of no interest to anything other than in the glorification of Allah (AJ), whether it’s through their salat, through their praying, through their praising through their reading of Qur’an, through their reading of Dalail al-Khayrat, through their zikrs, their mehfils and their associations because that is the fruit of their reality.
First Station – Bismillah and It’s Gate is Imam Ali (as)
All of that takes us now to the treasure of Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem. It is the crown of that entire reality. Its gatekeeper and all knowledge is entering into that is Imam Ali (as).
Subhana rabbika rabbal ‘izzati ‘amma yasifoon, wa salaamun ‘alal mursaleen, walhamdulillahi rabbil ‘aalameen. Bi hurmati Muhammad al-Mustafa wa bi sirri surat al-Fatiha.
